I'm sorry my knowledge of clone wars stuff is still only like, 15% capacity but i saw the thing about Plo handing out snacks, then remembered the OTHER thing about kel dor food and I'm just like. Sometimes when Plo is extra tired he'll hand you an explosive or something and it might just be intended as extra ammo but he might also have been trying to feed you, you just gotta roll with it and not ask questions.
OH MY GOD.
I love it. :D Some poor clone going, “Uh, commander - the general just gave me this grenade and when I tried to ask about it, he just patted me on the back and said it would be good for me.”
And Wolffe, who’s used to this, just says, “Hurl it at the enemy, trooper, and if General Plo asks about it later, tell him it hit the spot. Depending on what he remembers, he’ll either think it blew up a lot of droids or it was delicious. Works either way.”
It's a valid fear, but I think the benefits outweigh the possibility of that happening. Reading books from the genre/s you want to write is an excellent way to learn the rules etc of the genre, so then it'll be easier to follow or subvert readers' expectations. Plus, even if you are heavily influenced by others' work, I believe it will evolve and become more original as you go.
I want to read other books in the genre(s) I'm writing in, but I'm also afraid that if I do, those books will end up influencing my own writing too much, and I'll end up writing something that's effectively a copy of something else. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is my fear well-founded?
I’m watching Splash (1984) which is a romcom about a guy who falls in love with a mermaid, and when she chooses a human name she chooses Madison and guy says “that’s not a real name, but alright” which seems to imply that Madison was not a name until at least the 80’s and all girls named Madison are actually named after the mermaid. thought you should know

Reblog and write in the tags which celebrities you don’t hate or even dislike, but you’re annoyed with how overexposed they are. You can’t seem to escape them!
