the actual reason I consume mediocre media is because I have bad taste. the deeper secret pretentious reason is because I think there’s something very revealing about bad media that you don’t get with good media. when you watch a poorly executed plot point unfold, you see the machinery behind it. you see the gap between what’s actually on screen and the true goal the author is striving for. if it’s particularly awful, you can even measure just how poorly mismatched the author’s skills are with the story they’re trying to tell you. watching a poorly executed narrative play out feels like you’re discovering something, because you see all the wiring and guts underneath that better authors hide from you, in the same way that movies hide boom mics and books make you forget you’re turning the pages. if a story is good and executed well you just see the story. but I want to see the guts and wires!

it makes me so fucking angry. Why do palestinians trying to escape genocide have to ask how you are. Why do they have to apologize for sending asks. Why must every message stast with saying they wish the reader well, they they hope you're doing okay, that they're so sorry to bother you. Do these people have to act nice and sweet for anyone to care? Do they have to make sure you're doing well before they have the right to ask for anything? Its horrific.

Can someone pls point out very clear and explicit examples of Isagi being an asshole? I’m so confused

I think when half the characters on the page are talking about how they were inspired by Isagi and how he makes soccer fun for them you probably shouldn’t come away with the take of “Wow Isagi is such a POS look at him” LOOK AT HIM DOING WHAT

WHAT IS HE DOING

The only characters who fucking hate his guts are Rin and Kaiser, and with those two especially it’s because of absolutely nothing to do with Isagi

He has done nothing to them, their hatred is clearly irrational and, in Rin’s case, fucking insane

It’s debatable if they even actually hate him or just hate the effect he has on them

If he was being an asshole then you’d see the effects of that in the surrounding cast 😭 Kunigami and Kaiser are clear examples of a character whose assholery is clear and undeniable bc everyone around them makes a point to mention that they’re assholes

Claiming unreliable narration doesn’t work when the narration is coming from everyone outside of the main character

And stop bringing Bachira into your tomfoolery, why would they break up. Lol.

Also everyone who wanted PXG to win…I don’t understand that why would you want Rin’s behavior to lead him to a win WHY

Wafaa's old blog got shadowbanned, and its just yet another example of how far tumblr will go to silence palestinians when theyre already struggling to get by because of illness, starvation and the constant violence. It should alarm you just how frequent this is becoming with palestinian bloggers having to remake 3-4 times when theyre already living through the worst things imaginable.

If you don't know who she is, Wafaa Alnhal is a woman in her 40s who had left for Egypt a little after the occupation attacked for medical treatment. She has since been working hard to spread her campaign and evacuate her family who she had to leave behind in Gaza, despite her own ongoing struggle with her health issues and making rent.

Initially her goal for her gfm had been 35k, but recently she's had to raise it to 50k because her daughter has gotten hepatitis from the polluted water in Gaza. Her family is suffering- all 15 of them including 4 young children and a newborn baby- and they will have to live with the damage for the rest of their lives. It's taking its toll on Wafaa too, who's had to neglect her own health and wellbeing to raise funds for them.
