Crashing the car due to being overwhelmed by the beauty of the world
it's international cat day!! so tech and crosshair doodle đ
Another immaculate oneshot and deeply emotional read. Poor babies! Personally, I believe they all would have such difficult time initially adjusting to a life of peace and freedom, but they are resilient as we know. Adjusting to change is just their speciality.
I love that you acknowledged the trauma of Reader and the others. Sometimes people just kinda skip that, like it is difficult to write. I definitely understand that, but it was nice to see.
Tech and Reader đ„ș. What a beautiful scene between them. Hunter is so supportive, and that's just so in character for him. He'd make you feel so safe. đ„°
ALSO ITS HAPPENING!!! Everyone so excited â€ïž
Can't wait for your next update đ„°

Author's note: Okay, not gonna lie, I struggled with this one. It was a last minute idea as I was rewatching and writing the final few episodes of season 3 but it worked and felt a lot better in my head and when it came to writing, my brain was not my friend lol. I hope it's still enjoyable! The next oneshot is the story I've had planned for months so that should be a smoother process haha
It had been a few weeks since youâd all taken up official residence in Pabu.
Shepâs offer of setting up homes for you all stayed true.
You and Hunter had been put in a hut perfectly designed for the two of you that was a short walk away from the water and there was even a spare room for Omega who alternated between sleeping in your home and the home Tech, Crosshair and Wrecker all shared.
The three other clones may have been grouped together but there was plenty of room, and not a lot of time was spent indoors anyway.
Wrecker had taken to fishing like, well, like a fish to water.
Crosshair did a bit of everything, helping out with tasks of whoever needed assistance but he mainly he kept up with practicing shooting with his left hand. He wanted the practice, and he genuinely enjoyed it. He didnât miss being a soldier anymore but that didnât mean he had to renege on his skills.
Tech spent much of his time with Phee or assisting Shep in rebuilding parts of Pabu that still needed it and upgrading equipment. Â
Omega often kept close company with Lyana and the other young reg clones or she went off with Tech to plan out a potential search for lost or salvageable pieces of the Marauder- the two of them had dreams of rebuilding new a ship with as many pieces of their old home as possible. It was yet to be undertaken but the vision was there.
The task of reuniting the children from Tantiss with their families had been successful but with that final mission complete, you and Hunter were also in the same boat as Crosshair and still yet to find your official niche on island. For now, you both were just relishing in the peace and each otherâs company.
One thing you had managed to achieve was finding a way to finally get in touch with Lyra again, who- despite being filled in on everything that had happened since you parted ways on Christophsis- still managed to scold you for the lack of communication. But after hearing you all were alive and settled, sheâd sent you all packages of more suitable island clothes with promises to visit soon.
Everything was coming together and so you were feeling one with the island life.
However, life here was not without its challenges.
The impact and aftermath of Tantiss remained a constant shadow that would still find ways to rear its ugly head. Something you and Hunter in particular found yourselves dealing with.
--
âI figured we could have the party in the next couple of weeks right here in the colonnade and, I donât know, you could slip away orâŠâ Shep trailed off as he saw the way Hunterâs brow furrowed in pain.
âUh huh.â Hunter agreed distantly. He didnât want to ignore Shep, especially when he was doing him the favour, but fuck had the sun always been this bright? The blinding pain behind his eyes and throbbing in his skull was getting harder to dismiss. Â
You were a casual observer and listener to the conversation between the young reg clones and the adult clones that had remained on the island- Deke, Stak and Mox had no shortage of questions for them. But you sensed a rising discomfort and then you caught the way Hunter kept pinching the bridge of his nose and squinting to get away from the glare of the warm sun. âExcuse me.â You politely removed yourself from the conversation and hurriedly walked over to where Shep and Hunter were conversing. âShep, Iâm sorry to interrupt but do you mind if I steal him away for a moment?â
âNot at all.â Shep bid the two of you farewell with a smile.
You lightly rested a hand on his upper arm. âHunter? Another flare up?â You figured, keeping your worried voice quiet.
Hunter just about managed a nod and said through gritted teeth, âBut I can wait it out. Shep-â
He would attempt to come up with an excuse every time and every time you wouldnât even entertain it. âCome on.â You carefully wrapped an arm around him and guided him back home.
--
You opened the door and carried on through to the bedroom. You gently prompted him to sit on the bed as you knelt down and took his shoes off before you shut the bedroom window to cancel out the noise outside and closed the blinds to keep the sunlight out. You kept your voice low and monotone as you instructed him, âLie down.â
Hunter did as you said and rested on his back.
The routine was second nature to you. He hadnât had headaches like this for a while but since Tantiss and because of what heâd suffered there, theyâd become more frequent. His senses hadnât quite readjusted back to what they used to be.
You moved silently throughout the house as you went to the freezer and came back with the cold compress you stored specifically for these moments and placed it over his eyes. âIâll just be in the living room if you need anything. Try to sleep.â You whispered caringly before you lightly squeezed his hand and made to leave. However, you had barely stepped away from the bed when Hunterâs hand caught your wrist.
âStay.â He requested through a wince.
âI donât want to overwhelm you.â You cautioned quietly. You had remained a couple times before, but it had never been a certainty that he wanted you to stay when he was going through this. You always waited for him to give the okay.
âYou canât.â He murmured. He needed you here to ground him in a way the usual methods could never do.
You removed your own shoes and supported his back as you sat him up and slotted yourself behind him.
Hunter rested his head against your chest.
You readjusted the compress slightly once you were both in a comfortable position. âThis okay?â You asked as you softly massaged each of his temples.
Hunter let out a tranquil sigh and he could already feel the discomfort receding. You always knew just what it was he needed from you in these moments. âPerfect.â
--
Hunter wasnât the only one still feeling the lingering toil of Tantiss. Your screams of terror and the way you thrashed next to him woke him up. He called your name and shook your arm to wake you up. âHey, hey. Easy, easy. Itâs alright.â He assured you as he saw your eyes widen in fear.
You shot awake and hastily sat up, your breathing hard and uneven.
âYouâre okay. Iâm here.â Hunter whispered soothingly as he sat up alongside you.
You closed your eyes and let his voice be the only thing you focused on.
âYouâre alright. It was a bad dream.â
Right yes, a bad dream.
âHold on.â Hunter pressed his lips to your clothed shoulder before he got out of bed and ran a cloth under some cold water.
You worked on getting your breathing back under control. You ran a hand over your face and felt the beads of sweat dripping down your temples and down your neck and back. Your sleep top was sticking to you uncomfortably. But you forced yourself to concentrate on anything that didnât remind you of the nightmare youâd just escaped. You took in your secure and familiar surroundings of your bedroom to calm yourself down. You werenât back there. You were on Pabu with Hunter. You were safe here. Â
Hunter slid back in bed beside you. âArms up.â He prompted delicately. When you did that, he carefully removed your sweat soaked top and tossed it to the side of the bedâ heâd deal with it in the morning- and placed the cool cloth to the back of your neck and spine before he tenderly dabbed at your temples. He then put a replacement top back over your head and continued to press the flannel around your forehead and neck.
âIâm sorry.â You rasped as you hid your face in your palms in embarrassment. You hated this. He would already have tough days and you couldnât even offer him any relief in the evenings. The two of you had gotten into a rather unfortunate ritual where you would comfort him during the day and then the roles would switch as soon as night fell.
âYouâve nothing to be sorry for.â Hunter reassured you lovingly. He placed the cloth on the bedside table and rubbed his hand up and down your back to ease away the lingering tension and to help settle you back down. âSame one?â He guessed.
You nodded but kept your face hidden from him. âIâm just standing there. Iâm watching him hurt you over and over again and Iâm not doing anything to stop it.â You said, your voice cracking with each word. âThen he goes to the rest of you- to Omega. Iâm completely frozen and all I can do is watch you all writhe in pain. I keep fighting to move but nothing happens. Iâm just so useless and I stand by and let it happen. Youâre crying out for help, and I just stand there.â You whispered with plenty of self-loathing behind your words.
Hunter shushed you consolingly. âBut thatâs not what happened. Itâs just the nightmare talking.â
âIs it? Because it feels an awful lot like thatâs what I did.â You said with self-directed disgust.
ââYou didnât do nothing. You didnât give up. You did what you thought you needed to do to get us out of there alive.â Hunter reminded you.
âImprisoned.â You corrected.
âAlive.â Hunter countered.
You knew there was no sense in arguing with him over it. âI should be over this by now. I coped after Christophsis. I donât know why this is sticking with me so much.â You said critically instead.
Hunter was all too familiar with this line of argument. As soon as you admitted to the nightmare and the fear it brought, you started looking for ways to berate yourself for feeling the way you were. âYou couldnât process Christophsis on your own time. You were in a position where you were forced to carry on. And I donât think going through and being impacted by torture has a time requirement.â
You finally half-turned to face him. âDo you really believe that?â
The doubt in your voice made his throat constrict and chest tighten. âI know it.â
âBut dealing with this is annoying.â You mumbled self-consciously and you averted your gaze once more.
âDo you get annoyed when youâve needed to help me?â
You lifted your eyes back to him. âNo, of course not.â
âExactly. You help me through those episodes. Why do you think Iâd treat you any differently?â He rubbed his thumb along your cheekbone. âYou still need to give yourself the same treatment you give other people.â He said caringly.
You leaned your head against Hunterâs shoulder and just gave a series of reluctant but agreeable noises to signal your acceptance of his statement.
âYouâre talking to me though. That counts for something.â Hunter praised, angling his head so he could kiss your forehead.
âYeah, Iâm a work in progress.â You managed to say with some light-heartedness before your voice went solemn again. âJust donât give up on me⊠please.â
âNever.â Hunter promised with steadfast seriousness.
Your eyes flickered shut and you snuggled closer to him as he ran his hand up and down your arm in soft, delicate patterns.
âWant to sleeping try again?â He suggested after he felt your breathing and pulse settle back down.
You gulped but agreed to give sleep another go. âOkay.â You laid back down readjusted the covers you had kicked off in your sleep-panicked state. You breathed deeply as you closed your eyes and willed yourself to at least get a couple uninterrupted hours. But the darker part of your nightmare, the part you couldnât vocalise, lingered with you and you didnât know how to get past it.
Hunter wrapped his arm around your side and pulled your back tight to his chest, but despite all you opened up about, he knew you were holding something back. It was the same every night and he knew sleep would continue to elude you.
--
This new day was nearly over. Dusk had come and gone but the concept of night and sleep filled you with a deep anxiety. You needed to clear your head before you even thought about winding down for the night. âIâm going for a walk; Iâll be back soon.â You said, giving Hunter a chaste kiss to his lips before you exited your home.
Hunter gave you a slight smile as you parted from him, and he could only watch you leave. He had never felt so helpless.
He knew he couldnât quite help you in the way you needed but there might be someone else who could.
--
âHey there, Hunter.â Phee greeted cheerily as she opened the door to greet the clone.
âIâm not interrupting anything am I?â Hunter asked apologetically.
Phee rolled her eyes, âPfftt no way. Heâs been at this for hours, if you can get his attention onto something else, be my guest.â Â She led him through to the living room.
Tech grunted his greeting as he sought out the tool that he needed for the task he was completing for Shep. The island had a healer- Dalia, but she mainly operated out of her home because, until recently, that suited just fine. But when the attack on Pabu occurred, Shep and Dalia had found themselves ill-prepared for accommodating the seriousness of the injuries that followed so Tech was assisting in expanding and updating her equipment and resources. AZ was already a big help with that, but more was needing done. It was a longer but important project that Tech was taking very seriously.
âSorry about the mess.â Phee said with an annoyed yet affectionate stare in Techâs direction, but she was not surprised when the clone did not appear to even register that sheâd spoken. She had stopped trying to get Tech to tidy as he went about altering this latest piece of machinery since heâd insistently claimed there was an order to the chaos around him. The entire area in which he was working was covered with random tools and intricate pieces of machinery. Phee struggled to see how this all equalled a system since all she saw was an array random pieces of metal taking up her living room floor. It didnât truly bother her though; it was just another quirk she was fond off. Her appreciation for his intelligence and passion outweighed a little untidiness.
âDonât worry, itâs something Iâm very used to.â Hunter said lightly as he carefully stepped over some discarded screws.
âSit down.â Phee encouraged, gesturing to a spare chair as she took a seat on the couch across from where Tech was working in the middle of the floor. But when Hunter made no move to do so, Phee properly looked at him and she noticed the distant and slightly nervous expression Hunter donned. âEverything alright?â
âI need your help, Tech.â Hunter said in answer.
Tech spoke for the first time since Hunter arrived as he found the spanner he needed, âIâm not yet finished with this. Once Iâm done-â
âI donât need you to fix anything, Tech. Itâs about (Y/N). Sheâs struggling right now and-â
âWell, we know that she has a habit of taking things on by herself. A habit both of you have shared for quite a while.â Tech said plainly, not taking his eyes off the medical equipment he was fixing up. âI wouldnât take her refusal or dismissals personally.â
Hunter bit back his frustrated huff. He knew attempting to get his brotherâs focus when he was so absorbed by a project was always going to be challenging. He went to speak again but Phee beat him to it.
Enough was enough. Phee firmly nudged Techâs good thigh with her boot, âWould you stop playing around with that and actually pay attention to what he has to say?â
Tech snapped out of his intense concentration. âRight, yes. Sorry, Hunter.â He started officially packing up. Once he was done, he gave his brother his full attention and it was then that he saw the genuine worry on Hunterâs face which told him it was more important than any mechanical repair. âWhatâs going on with her?â
âShe keeps having nightmares from her capture on Tantiss. I canât remember the last time she slept through the night.â Hunter took a ragged breath. âAnd itâs not like sheâs keeping them to herself and thatâs why theyâre so bad. Sheâs doing everything weâve worked on. She talks to me; she lets me in and help her, but I know thereâs something else sheâs keeping hidden. And itâs because she knows I canât offer her the right words, or she wants to protect me from whatever it is sheâs not telling me. Iâm stuck and sheâs not getting any better and I canât offer her anything more than what Iâm currently doing.â
âSo, how exactly can I help?â Tech asked, rather puzzled as to why his brother had come to him with this dilemma. He wasnât exactly known for providing helpful assistance for this type of issue. It wasnât that he never wanted to, it just always didnât come easily to him and usually you and Hunter would always be able to work through it yourselves.
Hunter began tentatively, âY-your experiences were- were similar. Iâd thought about Crosshair but what he went through was a bit different and from what youâve told us, it sounds closer to what sheâs been through. I hate to ask it of you but-â
âWhere is she?â Tech asked, getting to his feet.
âIf youâre not comfortable doing this I understand. Itâs a lot to talk about and-â
âHunter, just tell me where she is.â Tech interrupted with a firm reassurance to show that he truly didnât mind.
âDown by the shore.â Hunter told him through a grateful sigh. Â
Tech nodded and got ready to leave for the beach.
--
You breathed in the fresh and clean sea air, a gentle breeze wafted through your hair. The moonlight cast the water and sand in a luminous white glow. It offered you a peace you were yet to find in your own mind. The faint but demanding whines of the hound youâd acquired on your walk down had you smiling to yourself as you focused on the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore.
Tech saw you seated on the sand, Batcher waiting for you to throw a stick for her. âDid you know that gravity and the gravitational pull of the moon creates a phenomenon called tidal force, which is what causes the ocean tides to change?â
âI mean⊠I knew it was something like that.â You straightened your shoulders and managed a tight smile in his direction. âHey, Tech.â You hoped you didnât sound as exhausted as you felt.
Tech picked up on the heaviness in your voice despite your attempts to conceal it. âAlso, did you know that water absorbs the red light of the colour spectrum, leaving the blue for us to see.â He added as he threw the stick for the hound.
You hummed out your acceptance of the fact as a reply whilst Batcher returned the stick but- after greeting Tech- decided sheâd had enough and curled up beside you. âYou didnât come here to share ocean facts, Tech.â You said after a moment. âWhatâs going on?â
âYouâre right. I have another purpose in joining you.â Tech admitted as he sat down on your other side.
âWhich is?â You asked leadingly.
âHunter asked me to. Heâs worried about you.â He gave you a chance to speak but you offered nothing, so he carried on, âFrom what I hear, youâre having difficulty sleeping due to nightmares. They are based around your confinement on Tantiss?â
You cleared your throat to buy yourself some time before you answered, âYeah.â You brought your knees to your chest.
âCan you tell me more? Whatever youâre comfortable sharing is fine.â
You breathed deeply and peered up at the starry night sky. âWell, you know about Christophsis.â
Tech nodded. That was something heâd been told about on the shuttle back.
âTantiss⊠Tantiss was different. I took beatings but they were a treat compared to that fucking droid. Hemlock did a much better job of getting the most out of that damn serum. It got harder and harder to fight it. He knew exactly what buttons to push.â
âIâm afraid I had a helping hand in that.â Tech said sheepishly.
You placed your hand on his shoulder. âI donât blame you, Tech. Not at all.â You reassured him earnestly.
âRegardless, his methods wouldâve been that effective because I told him what would work.â
You patted his shoulder to indicate that you really didnât hold any of that period against him before you removed it and placed it back across your bent legs. You surprisingly found that you kept wanting to talk so you carried on, âIâd never be able to ignore him, heâd always be able to get in my head so, instead, Iâd would look for things to take me out of it.â
âA reasonable response.â Tech agreed. The times when heâd resisted, heâd acted similarly.
You felt irritation rise in you. Youâd been weak, how could he not see that? âHe told me you were alive, and I used it as a way to keep pushing back against him. Omega didnât doubt it and she only heard him say it once.â
Hunter had warned him about this before heâd left. He expected you to say things designed to make him reprimand you instead of sympathising with you. The part of âno emotionâ element of the Jedi Code was deeply engrained in you. Despite your affinity for handling attachment and genuine love for them, when it came to your own emotions, you had gotten a bit too good at supressing or dismissing them. âYears fighting in a war has a way of creating a certain cynicism- or realism- depending on your point of view. It helps with survival and enduring each battle. I may have gotten out of it but even I have to admit that the odds were slim. I called out the plan. I knew what I was doing, I didnât expect to live, and I didnât expect you all to assume that I had.â Tech easily explained away the argument. âIâm grateful for Omegaâs optimism and hope- it is a wonderful quality of hers and it got me out of there and brought me back to you all-, but I never expected you to believe I lived.â
You couldnât accept the fact that the people around you were okay with how youâd acted. Every night was a painful reminder of how youâd failed them. âWhat I donât understand is why Tantiss is still affecting me in this way. I got over Christophsis just fine.â
âNo, you didnât process Christophsis. You were thrown into mission after mission and were left with no choice but to keep going. It is highly plausible that Hemlockâs own similar torture was harder to get through because it was a reminder of a traumatic time that youâd already experienced but not healed from. Plus, I donât believe feeling the effects of torture has a time requirement.â
You sighed heavily, âYouâre the second person to tell me all that.â
âDoes that not tell you something?â Tech prodded but he did it gently.
âI guess.â You said through a weary sigh as you ran your hands through the sand to distract yourself. âI handed myself over to Hemlock though. I gave up.â
âThe guilt youâre experiencing over agreeing to Hemlockâs terms is natural. You-â
âIt wasnât guilt. Not wholly.â You said, your voice so quiet it barely registered over the rhythmic lull of the waves.
Tech glanced at you in surprise, but you were keeping your head down, stroking Batcherâs snout- the dog seemed to sense your distress and had nuzzled closer to you. He allowed the silence to grow as he patiently awaited further explanation from you. Â
You swallowed thickly as you went to speak again. âI was relieved.â You admitted, it was the first time youâd ever said the words out loud, and you instantly wished you could take them back. You wrapped your arms around yourself as you awaited the disappointed and shameful remarks from Tech.
âWhat were you relieved about?â Tech asked calmly.
That hadnât been the response you were expecting. âUm-â You searched for the words to answer him. âWhen I was-â You broke off and started again and you found yourself being more honest than youâd anticipated. âWhen I was in that training room watching Hunter be tortured and I heard Hemlock say that he was going to do the same conditioning to Crosshair again and to Wrecker too⊠I gave him what he wanted. Throughout my time there, he wanted me to join him and thatâs what I was prepared to do. But as I said it, there was a sense of relief. Finally, I could stop fighting him. The torture he put me through would end. And in the dream- nightmare- I keep having, as much as I hate whatâs happening, part of why I canât move to help any of you is because Iâm just relived it isnât me.â You visibly tensed as you finished speaking. Saying that last part out loud caused you physical pain and your stomach churned nervously as you waited for judgement. There had been a reason you couldnât share this with Hunter. It sounded so selfish, so pathetic.
âI understand that.â
You angled your head to face him. It was your turn to wait for him to talk.
Tech took a grounding breath before he elaborated, âIn my time imprisoned there, Hemlock wanted to know all he could about you all. He knew there would be a time where heâd have to face you all again. I didnât quite experience the same beatings you took; it was always psychological. But whenever I showed willing to give him information, all I felt in that moment was a profound relief that the torment and pain would end. Granted, that swiftly became guilt as soon as he left but I couldnât deny the respite those few minutes of me telling him about you all gave me. Now, did you only feel relief at it being over? Or was it relief that you could join him and do his bidding?â
You thought back to that time and realised what he was getting at. âNo, it was because I knew if I gave him what he wanted, then at least they wouldnât have to go through any more agony. At the time, imprisonment felt like the better option than becoming one of his operatives and experiencing that level of hurt.â
âPrecisely. Your sleep is being haunted by the worst outcome. Itâs praying on the flash of relief you felt and twisting it into something more than what it was. If you accept what happened and stop fighting it, it loses its power. You didnât do anything wrong, you acted how you needed to. The only person that has the power to blame you is yourself. No one here does, sometimes it just helps to hear it out loud once in a while and itâs true. You resisted him for as long as you physically could. Those circumstances wouldâve cracked anyone.â
You looked at him thoughtfully. âIs that how you did it?â You asked quietly.
âWell, I didnât. Not always.â Tech reminded you, assuming you were referring to how he resisted Hemlockâs torment.
âNo.â You released another deep sigh. âYou seem to have settled here. Youâre coping with it, and you were there for a long time.â
âI was in hell on Tantiss but not so much anymore. Being reunited with you all has really helped. Though I think if I had to watch any of them get hurt the way you had to, it would be different.â As he spoke, Tech realised why Hunter had come to him for this. He was sharing this part of him with you because he knew you were the only one that would truly get it. There was no worry of judgement, no worries of saying something too jarring. You would understand him just as he understood you. âIâve accepted what happened to me and how I reacted to it but youâre the only one that knows those particular details of my experience. Phee and my brothers do not. Family helps with some of the burden but until youâve had the unfortunate time of living it, their support can only do so much. We need each other it would seem.â Tech said with a kind look in your direction.
You widened your eyes at his openness. You were incredibly touched by that, and you didnât take the lightly. âThank you, Tech.â
âYou asked a question, I merely answered.â
You shot him a look, âThatâs not the only thing Iâm thanking you for.â After speaking to him and fully unburdening yourself to someone who could only understand where you were coming from without the worry of saying the wrong thing or being too much, you felt like a weight had been lifted off your chest. You werenât plagued by all the horrible and conflicting feelings that had followed you since Tantiss. You could breathe. You were free. You gently squeezed his hand as you said, âThank you for what youâve done tonight. For all of it.â
Tech shrugged off the thanks but smiled at you all the same. âWeâre family, itâs what we do.â
--
You walked through the door to your home and took your shoes off.
Hunter walked out of the bedroom as he heard you come through the door. âHey, how was your walk?â
You didnât answer immediately. Instead, you just drank him in. You took in the way he leaned against the doorway, the book he was reading dangling from his hand. The way the soft linens of his sleep clothes framed his body. The way heâd still kept and worn the necklace youâd given him all that time ago. And the way he was looking at you with such deep care and affection, it made your heart clench and emotions clog up in your throat- you didnât trust yourself to speak.
Hunter took your silence for upset. âI had to tell him. I thought-â But he didnât get to finish his sentence as you strode towards him and embraced him.
You hugged him tightly. âThank you.â You whispered.
Dropping his book and wrapping his arms around you instantly, Hunter rested his cheek on top of your head. He didnât need or expect you to share the details of the conversation with Tech, heâd realised that you needed a different kind of comfort and that was okay. All that mattered to him was that it helped you.
You let the warmth of his soothing hold flow through your body, and you kept your voice hushed as you said, âI want you to know that itâs not that I didnât want to tell you it all.â
âI know.â Hunter replied softly as he caringly caressed your back. He would not break away until you wanted to.
You pressed your face into the crook of his shoulder. Even though he had sent Tech your way, you didnât want him to feel like heâd let you down or anything along that vein. âYou did everything right. I needed you there⊠I still need you there. I canât get through it without you butâŠâ The words to describe just what it was Tech gifted you got lost and you frantically searched for them so he would know why you hadnât just come to him with it.
The last thing Hunter needed or wanted was you feeling like you had to reassure him on the issue. âSweetheart, all I wanted was for this to get easier for you. I know that there are emotions and parts of that experience on Tantiss that I will never fully understand- as much as that kills me, I wish none of it had happened to you or Tech in the first place but that doesnât change the fact that it did. You needed more than a shoulder to lean on, and if Tech gave you that, then thatâs all that matters to me. I wonât stop being there, whatever it is you need, Iâm here.â
The wave of emotion came rushing back and tears threatened to spill from your eyes, and you found yourself pressing yourself tighter to him still so there were absolutely no gaps between you. âThank you for not giving up on me.â
âI love you, giving up is never an option.â Hunter murmured as he kissed the crown of your head.
âI love you too.â You croaked as you fought through the lump in your throat.
You stayed like that for a couple more minutes before you finally pulled away.
Hunter wiped away a few stray tears that had escaped your eyes. âFancy an early night?â
âYeah.â You said through a deep exhale as the exhaustion youâd been fighting with came crashing into you. âThat sounds good.â
--
3 weeks later.
âHowâs your pain? Anymore headaches?â You asked Hunter as the two of you wandered arm in arm through the main square. You had been keeping a watchful eye in the time that had passed but he hadnât had any bad episodes of late.
âEverything feels back to normal.â Hunter replied. âAnd you? How are you sleeping these days?â From what he could tell, you were sleeping through the night but that didnât necessarily mean they werenât still there.
âNo nightmares at all.â You said with a relieved sigh. The weight of what youâd endured was no longer keeping you down. It had no control over you anymore. Youâd thrown yourself back into mediating again and that also seemed to help a lot.
You both walked in easy silence, smiling at the clones from Tantiss who had stayed and at the merchants shouting out enticing deals and offerings from their stalls as you passed by. Â
âAlthough, thereâs one thing I needâŠâ
You glanced at him expectantly.
âCan you try it now? I should be fine.â
You hadnât done it since settling down here in case it was too much. âYouâre sure?â You double checked.
Hunter nodded. It was the final step to the normality that he craved.
You both paused and headed over to the side walkway of the colonnade that offered shelter from the open area. You reached out into his familiar Force signature, the connection you formed with it giving you an extra sense of security and warmth. How does this feel?
Hunter closed his eyes and breathed out a serene sigh as he heard your voice in his head, but it felt like everything finally clicked back into place. Then, he felt the gentle press of your lips against his. He reacted automatically and placed his hands on your waist as he returned the embrace.
âWhat was that for?â He whispered against your lips as you parted.
âItâs part of the check up process.â You murmured before you took half a step back to look at him properly, but you kept your arms looped around his neck so that he was still close to you.
Hunter gave you a fond smile. âAh, of course.â He sweetly stroked his thumb along your jawline.
You shut your eyes and leaned into his touch.
âAre you happy?â Hunter asked after a few beats of silence.
You dropped your arms and looked at him in surprise. âYes, of course I am!â You looked at him, worry furrowing across your brow. âWhat brought that on?â
Hunter awkwardly ran a hand through his hair. âI know things havenât been easy since we arrived here. It didnât get off to the peaceful start that Iâd hoped for. I just want to make sure itâs still what you want and that youâre definitely feeling better.â
You were caught off guard by the emotions that caught in your throat. What did you do to deserve such a man? âI am very content and happy here; Hunter.â You took a hold of each of his hands. âIâm very content and happy being here with you.â You let out a faint, slightly embarrassed laugh, âI am very much in love with you, you silly man. Every day that I wake up beside you, every day that I get to come home to you and every day I just get to be around you is a day that reminds me that how lucky I am.â You removed your hands and lightly followed the lines of his face tattoo. âAre you happy?â
âCompletely.â Hunter murmured as his eyes fluttered shut as he fell completely complaint under your touch.
âGood. Settling down here is what exactly what I want, things just werenât settling down as quickly as I wouldâve liked but itâs different now. Weâre both doing much better, itâs a good thing.â You kissed his cheek and delicately brushed your fingers through the shorter strands of hair at the front of his head. I love you, thatâs never changed, and it never will. Does that about cover everything?
âAlmost.â Hunter said huskily as his own love for you overcame him.
Before you could question what he meant, he tugged you in tight to him and kissed you passionately. You felt him cradle the hinge of your jaw, silently asking permission to deepen the kiss and you granted him access without a second thought. You tangled your fingers in his hair and pressed yourself close to him. You allowed yourself a few minutes to just get lost in the pleasure he was giving you, but you remembered where you were and with a groan, you withdrew from his embrace.
It hurt you to pull away and from the way Hunter just insistently pushed you back against the stone column and carried on kissing and raking his teeth along your neck, he wasnât impressed with stopping either. âWe- we came here for groceries.â You hummed distractedly as you found yourself titling your head to give him easier access.
âSo, weâll get them tomorrow.â Hunter responded simply as he kissed behind your ear and brushed his fingers under your shirt and along the soft skin of your stomach.
âWe have- have no f- food and-â You attempted to protest but now his mouth was doing wonderful things along your pulse point that was making you feel very lightheaded.
âThatâs fine. What Iâm in the mood for, only you can give me.â Hunter teasingly dipped his fingers just under the waistband of your leggings.
You forced yourself to get a grip before you were too far gone. âGet off.â You playfully shoved at his chest with an exasperated shake of your head.
Hunter inclined his head in surrender, âHow about you shop, and I meet you at home?â He offered as he stopped his teasing and removed himself from you.
âIs this your bizarre way of just wanting to get out of a chore?â You joked, crossing your arms and feigning irritation.
âNo, I just think that if I stay, weâre going to wind up getting done for public indecency and it would be entirely my fault.â
Despite his admission, you still saw a faint but lustful glint in his eyes and you knew he was envisioning precisely what would happen if the two of you remained by this column. And you knew both of you would decide it was worth the risk. You gulped as you hastily said before you lost control of yourself, âIâll see you at home.â
Hunter released a low chuckle before he kissed you softly once more, the promise of what was to come still lingered behind the action despite his best attempts to keep it brief.
You took a few hesitant steps away him and then gathered yourself and went about your task- your walk brisker than before.
--
Hunter watched you before he moved out from the shelter of the pillar. He spotted Omega sitting with Lyana by the Maya tree. He called over to her.
âWhatâs up?â Omega asked breezily as she jogged over to him.
âCan you round up the boys and meet me at home? Iâll get Echo on comms.â
âHow come?â Omega asked curiously.
âThereâs a mission Iâm gonna need all your help with. But it needs to just be the five of us.â He indicated to where you were making a purchase. âThink you can get Lyana to delay her return?â
âA mission? Then why canât-â An excited gasp left her as she saw the silent but confirming look that Hunter gave her. Theyâd all been eagerly waiting for this. âYes! Iâm on it!â She sprinted off back to Lyana, chaotically relaying the instructions before she ran go find the others.
Hunter laughed to himself as he saw her enthusiastic departure before he hustled off back home and readied the comm channel for Echo. It didnât take long for the clone to answer.
âYou better be calling for the reason I hope youâre calling for.â Echo said by way of greeting.
âThink you can help me out?â Hunter replied with a validatory nod at the holoimage of Echo and he saw the way Echoâs shoulders lifted as he realised it was finally going to happen. Hunter had talked to them all about it in the days after arriving on Pabu and it had been met with an enthusiastic yet somehow still teasing response. It reminded him of how he felt back before the two of you officially got together, with the others just waiting for it to happen. Heâd wanted to do it sooner, but your circumstances changed, and so he wanted to wait until both of you were recovered. And, whilst theyâd all accepted his decision to hold off, they had been impatient for this day for both genuine well-being purposes but also because they wanted it for the two of you- his family were very supportive and insistent on him doing this. With things faring better, he felt comfortable doing it now. âI donât want to take you away from anything urgent or-â
âName it!â Echo said with a pleased smile.
Before he could get into what he needed Echo to do, he heard the door open. Hunter half-turned to see the crowd of eager and motivated faces made up of Omega and his brothers. Â
All of them gathered round him and Echoâs hologram.
Hunter took a deep inhale and exhale. In a strange way, this was going to be one of the most important yet daunting missions heâd undertaken. âAlright, we donât have long before she gets home. Hereâs what I needâŠâ

@summer-of-bad-batch week 12 prompt 'Nightmares'
Fandom:Â The Bad Batch Characters:Â Hunter, Crosshair Set in Season 3, just before they go back to Barton IV in The Return Word Count:Â ~2585 Read Here on AO3
Synopsis: Since his return from Tantiss, things between Hunter and Crosshair have been nothing but tense. But even in his anger, Hunter is unable to ignore how distressed Crosshair is when he is trapped in a nightmare.
Written by request for @theproblemwithstardust after I made a throwaway comment in "Forget I asked" about Hunter holding Crosshair through his nightmares. Specifically, the request was phrased as "well if itâs in the hair braiding universe, and before Crosshair left Pabu⊠what about when he first got back to the squad with Omega (after Tantiss) and was still sort of fighting with Hunter. Maybe between them all meeting up again and The Return? I bet Crosshair might have nightmares while heâs stressed about returning to Barton IV đ€ (and Hunter wouldnât let him suffer even if theyâre fighting)"
Hunter was dragged from the edge of sleep by that ill-defined sense that told him something was amiss, even if he couldnât put his finger on quite what.
Tech had always told him that his trouble-sense was nothing to do with his enhancement, and everything to do with his leadership skills. Sometimes he wondered if it wasnât a bit of both.
Now, as he stretched his senses out through the sleeping ship, he was certain it was the manipulated genetics that were at play. He should be able to sense three sleeping bodies â Omega, Wrecker, Crosshair.
But he could hear erratic breathing. Feel the shudders of a trembling body vibrating through the stack of narrow racks to reach him.
Not Omega then.
Still, he cracked an eye open and glanced up at the curtained gunnerâs mount just to reassure himself. The curtain was motionless, and he could sense nothing from beyond it that would cause him concern.
One of his brothers then.
There was a time when heâd known all their life-signs so intimately that it wouldnât even have taken him this long to sense whose distress had woken him.
Momentarily derailed by regret, he covered his face with one hand, drawing in his own shuddering breath. Then, steeling himself, he pushed sleep from his mind and sat up.
He was in the middle rack. Wreckerâs breathing beneath him was deep and even, and when he peeked over the edge he could see his brother fast asleep in open-mouthed exhaustion.
That left Crosshair.
Hooking one hand under the rack above to steady himself, Hunter leaned out and peered up at the form on the bunk overhead. A thin grey blanket was wrapped around narrow shoulders which twitched and spasmed with whatever midnight haunting tormented his brother.
He wasnât awake, that was for sure. Just a nightmare.
Hunter paused, half-way to retreating back to his own narrow berth.
Just a nightmare.
Something bitter caught in his chest, so sharp it almost choked him. He was angry at Crosshair. So angry.
Yet at the same time the knife of guilt twisted in his gut, unable to ignore his distress.
Not now he could do something about it.
Hunter squeezed his eyes shut, breathed hard through his nose as he banished the feeling that stung unbidden at the edge of his conscience. He wouldnât feel bad. He wouldnât.
They had been separated. So many light years and the Empire a gulf between them. He didnât have to feel responsible for what Crosshair had been through at their hands.
Crosshair had chosen that for himself. Hunter had given him another option, and he hadnât taken it.
Leaving him on that platform, skyline streaked with destruction as Kamino burned, had torn his heart in two.
But it had been Crosshairâs choice.
No chips. No control. Hunter knew that now, no matter how heâd wanted to believe otherwise at the time. Crosshair had looked at him with that bruised expression, hurt and bitterness and spite etched into the stern lines of his face, and he had turned his back on them. Refused to consider rejoining them, even when the Empire had bombed the city out from under them.
Hunter tried to summon that core of anger and hold onto it. But it was a slippery thing, the spiky edges of his hurt made slick with the sounds of Crosshairâs suffering.
Because suffering he was, trapped at the mercy of whatever memory or vision stalked his sleeping hours.
If he could just quiet the rest of his senses enough, Hunter would be able to feel the lightning-storm of firing synapses that danced in the sniperâs mind, neural pathways surely altered by torture and conditioning that he couldnât even begin to conceive of.
Not his brotherâs mind any more. Not as heâd known it before.
But still his brother who tossed and whimpered in his sleep like he had when they were cadets.
Hunter clenched his teeth so hard that the tendons in his temples ached. Then finally he made his choice and swung out of his bunk once more, carefully tucking his feet onto the lower rack without disturbing Wrecker so he could stand up with his elbows linked on Crosshairâs bunk.
âHey. Cross.â
The nickname slipped out by accident. Some deep-rooted instinct had set it at the tip of his tongue without conscious thought, and it had slid out before he had time to click his teeth shut and bite back that instinct towards sympathy.
He didnât feel sympathy for his brother, he reminded himself. Crosshair had suffered, but no more than they had in his absence. No more than Omega had, taken captive by the Empire and held against her will.
âCrosshair.â The name was a grunt, and this time it was accompanied by digging his knuckles between Crosshairâs shoulder blades. An open hand to his back felt too soothing, and Hunter wasnât ready for that gesture yet.
Crosshair woke with a flinch, spinning towards the source of the perceived threat with his hands up defensively. He didnât cry out; was dead silent except for a breathy gasp inhaled as he surfaced from his nightmare, and the ragged breathing that followed.
And his eyes. Hunter had been waiting for a scowl at being woken, that same dark, closed glare that Crosshair directed at him for every one of his waking hours.
No. Crosshairâs eyes were wide and frightened, tear-glaze glinting in the darkness. Hunter startled at the way it constricted his heart, gaze locked on the look of slack panic on Crosshairâs pale, narrow face.
Several blinks cleared the child-like panic from Crosshairâs face, and Hunter watched in real-time as the veil of discontent settled back into place, defences quickly rebuilt. Crosshairâs shoulders hunched protectively, open hands which had shielded him on instinct as he woke bunching to fists and folding across his chest.
âWhat is it?â he hissed, some of the displeasure of his words lost between panting breaths that he still hadnât managed to regulate.
Hunter let his own frown fall into place to match Crosshairâs, wiping away any evidence of that intuitive concern he had felt to see his brother so distressed as he woke. He chewed on his answer a moment, then offered it gruffly into the silence between them.
âYou were having a nightmare.â Then, as though that werenât explanation enough, âThought Iâd wake you from it. Youâre welcome.â
He couldnât help the bitter sarcasm that leached into his voice. Crosshair had that effect on him, even when he was trying to be nice.
âI didnât ask you to,â spat Crosshair, eyes narrowing in suspicion. Like he was looking for Hunterâs angle of attack.
âNo, you didnât,â agreed Hunter with a bite of anger in his words. âBecause you were too busy whimpering like a tubie.â
It felt dangerous to be stood on the edge of the bunk like this, facing down Crosshairâs sharp tongue and acerbic mood. He couldnât predict how his brother was going to react.
Heâd done it often enough when they were cadets.
But theyâd known how to trust each other back then.
Crosshair made no move to lash out at him. Nor did he roll away, turn his back to Hunter and ignore him. His gaze might bleed with distrust, but he didnât look away from Hunterâs face.
Hunter waited for another agonising minute, both of them locked in mutual silence. Neither was ready to be the first one to break their rapport, however tense it may be.
He sighed and reached out again, this time lightly cuffing Crosshairâs shoulder.
âMove over.â
âWhat?â Crosshairâs question was acid even as he complied.
Hunter levered himself up onto the top bunk, shoving at Crosshairâs body until he sat, then settled himself alongside. On the top rack they didnât have space to sit up fully, so he slouched until he didnât have to bend his head to stop it hitting the roof of the Marauder and dangled his legs off the edge of the bunk.
A wordless snort of displeasure punctuated Crosshairâs own movements, but he copied Hunter until he too was slid down in the rack, arms folded across his body so he was hugging himself protectively.
âWhatâre the nightmares about?â Hunter asked, voice rough and low in the night.
A long, long pause before, âIt doesnât matter.â
âIt does.â
âIt doesnât concern you.â
âIf youâre back with us, it concerns me.â
Hunter wasnât sure if he allowed the edge of command into his voice, of if it happened subconsciously. All he knew was that with Crosshair back, wrapping himself in the distance of being the Sergeant made things easier.
It wasnât the right thing to say; there was no âright thing to sayâ between them right now, time and distance and hurt an unscaleable wall between them. He felt the electric thrum of tension through Crosshairâs body.
âThis really doesnât.â
Hunter let it rest for a moment, before trying a more direct question.
âIs it about the planet weâre going to?â
From the way Crosshair immediately stiffened, the answer was yes. But Crosshairâs reply was, âIt wonât affect the mission.â
Hunter wanted to curse. There were secrets hiding in the silences between Crosshair's words, and he would tear them out of him with teeth and nails if he had to.
Eventually.
For now, they needed Crosshair and what he knew about Tantiss. That meant he couldnât risk starting a fight; the kind of argument that would lead to Crosshair walking out, refusing to help them.
And Crosshair needed him.
âYou should sleep,â he said with a resigned sigh. âWe need you rested for whatever weâre going to find at this Imperial base tomorrow.â
Crosshair merely sniffed, and didnât move.
Hunter would have prompted again, but now he could feel a faint vibration through the bunk once more. He glanced down; noticed the shaking of Crosshairâs hand where it was tucked under his opposite elbow.
âCross.â This time the soft-spoken nickname was deliberate. âWant me to stay up here a while?â
âNo,â came the sullen response, although Crosshair made no move to pull away, or eject him from the bunk.
Hunter bristled, violence itching at his fingertips. He had consciously chosen to set aside his anger to wake Crosshair from his nightmares, only to be met with his brotherâs difficult behaviour. What he wouldnât give to be able to fight it out, like when they were cadets.
âFine,â he muttered, his words a low growl. âIâm going to sleep.â
He pushed to the edge of the bunk, ready to slip back down into his own rack. Hesitated, then grunted back over his shoulder, âWake me if you need me.â
Crosshairâs eyes gleamed in the darkness. He didnât reply.
Hunter slipped silently back into the middle rack, settling on his side with his back to the rest of the Marauder. He tried to let go of the tension that coiled through him from confronting Crosshair, breathing deeply in an effort to trick his body into relaxing.
All it achieved was to enhance how aware he was of his surroundings, the faint scent of cortisol permeating the air. He had always been able to sense his brothersâ stress, but now it made him ache with inner conflict.
Again, Tech had called it his leadership instincts, but Hunter knew how the line between his enhancements and his role as squad leader blurred. Being able to pick up on the most subtle signs of distress had given him a preternatural ability to appear at his brothersâ sides before they even knew they needed him.
And it was hard, so hard, to lay there and ignore the distress he could feel radiating from Crosshair, sharpened now he was awake. Guilt licked at his conscience once more, wondering if it would have been better to let the sniper remain in the grip of his nightmares, if waking him only meant he would dwell on things.
He had tried to do the right thing. Except everything seemed to be backfiring on him since Crosshair returned.
He heard shifting above him, listened closely to Crosshairâs movements. There was no question that he was planning to lay awake until he was sure his brother had settled into a dreamless sleep.
A light touch brushed against the back of his shoulder. Hunter jumped, turning so quickly that his legs tangled in his blanket.
Crosshairâs arm dangled over the edge of the bunk, fingers pulled back into a loose cage as though he had flinched away after touching Hunterâs shoulder.
Hunter let out of the breath heâd been holding, settling onto his back. He watched the edge of the bunk for a moment, waiting to see if any more of Crosshair would appear. When none did, he raised his forearm up, elbow finding a resting place on the edge of the rack, and let their fingers brush.
A nervous twitch greeted him, Crosshairâs hand convulsing as though he was going to pull away entirely. Hunter held his hand still; held his breath. Waited, agonisingly, for his brother to make the next move.
Slowly, as if he didnât trust the contact, Crosshairâs fingers threaded through Hunterâs â loosely at first, then as Hunter gave a faint squeeze, grabbing tightly enough to squash the bones of Hunterâs hand. Hunter merely rolled onto his side, bringing his other hand to cup his elbow and support his vertically held arm.
He didnât say anything. Nor did Crosshair.
But the grip of his hand was vice-like, thumb tracing a deliberate track along the back of Hunterâs knuckles. Hunter could feel the unbidden tremor ripple through their joined hands.
Something aching and hollow opened up inside Hunter at that simple point of contact. Things were broken between them. Their bond, once so strong, torn asunder by betrayal and separation.
Pillowing his head on his upper arm, Hunter slid his hand up inside Crosshairâs wrist to grasp his forearm.
âIâm here, Cross.â It was mumbled half-into his own arm, voice thick with conflicting emotions. ââM here.â
Crosshair wasnât okay. Hunter could hear it in his erratic breathing, in the racing of his heartbeat. He could feel in in the hand extended, seeking comfort.
And Hunter wasnât okay either. He hadnât been, for a long time, and had been doing a good job of squashing the uncertainty down to doggedly keep going, one day at a time.
He didnât trust Crosshair enough to open himself up about any of that. Wasnât sure if heâd ever trust Crosshair like that again.
But right now, in the dark and the quiet and with the tenuous bond of their joined hands, none of that mattered.
He hadnât forgotten the betrayal.
He hadnât forgotten the hurt.
But just for a moment, he could look past it and see that his brother needed him.
Hunter stroked his thumb across Crosshairâs pulse point, feeling the way Crosshairâs hand went tight around his own in response.
Holding hands wouldnât stop the nightmares. But with every passing moment Crosshairâs breathing calmed a little more, slipping into a more regular pattern as sleep tugged at him once more.
An undercurrent of anger still hummed through Hunterâs veins. There was so much he wanted to shake out of Crosshair.
But that would wait, until tomorrow at least.
For now, he would lay here, his hand wrapped around his brotherâs, and remember a time when Crosshair had been his world.
Lay there and achingly, yearningly, wonder if they would ever get back there.

Death.
He thought he had his cold grip around your soul, he thought it could be easy ripping you away from your family.
He was wrong.
He was not truly death,
You were.
And he had realized that a moment too late as you plunged your glowing blade through his ribs, twisted and then cut downwards. Your life came back to you with a rush of adrenaline, and you gasped for air while using your arms to push you upwards.
The man who had killed you, an inquisitor. He was slowly walking away, until he heard your gasp for air.
The masked man turned back to you as you slowly stumbled to your feet, the hilt of your dual lightsabers held tightly in your hands.
You were staring downwards, your hair falling across your face, blood dripping down your cheek as you just stood there. âStill not dead Jedi?â The Inquisitor asked, but you didn't respond. Instead you looked around you, seeing the unconscious yet alive bodies of your friends, your familyâŠ
âNo.â You seethed, finally looking up at him as you ignited one blade after the other. At first your blades hummed soothingly, like a lullaby, and were glowing purple⊠But as you took a step towards the inquisitor, and tightened your grip on the hilts of your blades, that deep purple glow slowly turned red, starting from the base and making its way up to the top as it crackled with energy.
âYou hurt my family⊠so you will suffer tenfold.â You snarled. The inquisitor snickered, but with a blink of an eye you were gone, no longer in front of him. His eyes went wide as he frantically looked around, hearing a whooshing sound pass him, followed by the crackling hum of your blades.
A scream then fell from his lips as one of your blades cut deep into his leg, he stumbled forward but didnât fall. He turned to where the cut had come from, but again you weren't there.
The Inquisitor let out a furious cry, and spun around just as you struck him with your lightsabers. He had managed to block but only for a brief moment as you flicked your fingers. The force enveloped him as his hand slowly twisted backwards, yet despite his resistance to the push he dropped his own saber, and his head snapped backwards, a loud crack echoing through the forest you dueled in.
He let out another excruciating scream, but you werenât done with him. You channeled the force, the darkness that clouded you and you sent the inquisitor flying into a tree. He nearly avoided being impaled by a low branch, but he was given no moment to recover as he was force pulled, then pushed again.
This time his back hit the sharp branch of the tree, and it started piercing his skin, the splinters catching in his muscle, making it even more painful as you stood in front of him, your two blades connected into one blade now as your right hand was extended forward, and you kept pushing him farther back against that branch.
Everything you did to him, you did with precision, making sure that every blow you dealt wouldn't kill him. And soon he was fully pressed against the tree, the branch fully impaled through his stomach as he cried.
âwha- what⊠are y- you?â The inquisitor choked out, blood filling his mouth and falling past his lips. You growled, and called on your darkness as you pulled him forward but not off the branch, pushing him back again. âI am revenge.â You answered, reaching through the branch, through its life as you made it crack, and expand from the inside.
The inquisitor wailed in pain, and began begging for his life as you stepped forward. You pointed the tip of your dual blade to his neck, pushing it against his skin, starting to burn the flesh of his neck away as he continued to plead.
âY/n- what are you-â Hunterâs voice choked out, and you snapped your head towards him, reaching out your hand as you pushed him back, the force knocking him into the ground. You said nothing, and turned back to the inquisitor.
âCall your friends.â You hissed, pulling his commlink into your hands, turning it on and pointing it to his mouth. He choked out whatever garbled warnings he could muster before you crushed the device in your hands, and reached your hand towards him again, and this time you started to choke him, squeezing tighter and tighter as his face got redder and redder.
Until his head exploded. Literally. The pressure and the blood had gotten so clogged that it had exploded his brain, and that in turn cracked his skull, and then broke through the skin.
But you weren't done. You ripped off his armor plating, and tore away the fabric covering his chest, taking your saber as you carved a word against his chest, just a single word in a language you had grown to love.
You carved the mandoâa word Skira into the inquisitor's skin. It meant vengeance, bloody vengeance.
And you would have it, you would destroy the empire for the harm they caused your family⊠and you would not stop until every inquisitor, every sith, every admiral under the emperor's watch was dead⊠or until you were.
You un-ignited your saber, and clipped it to your belt before you walked over to Hunter. He stared up at you, a form of fear written across his face. âBe not afraid.â You whispered, crouching down to him as he got a clearer look at your now yellow eyes.
âI will not let anyone hurt you, ever again.â

Ah so here we go...
My weekly paragraph... well novel.
My key moments:
- Echo and readers moment of reunion, her realising its actually him and not a trick of her mind. My precious ones.
- "Oh. She's brillant" yes, yes that child is. Just Omega in general the whole time proving her capability, care, leadership, and being the gem she is.
- Tech's return and how casual he is about it.
- Hemlock stressing the whole time. He was too cruel this chapter, bro. I skimmed the torture scenes that hurt too much. Specifically in getting the reader to submit, whoo boy.
- Tech's return.
- All of them being generally clued in to poor readers' pain, noting how's she beat down and her genuine fear. That's a neat little detail I loved every time I saw it.
- That hangerbay scene with Hunter reacting to readers' lasersword (as he calls it). Love. Love. Love. The following paragraphs of the two noticing each other. Urgh, I wanted nothing more than their reunion right then and there.
- Tech's return.
- Wrecker and Echo đ„Č but also â€ïž they just care about each other so much.
- Hunter and Crosshair together and going after the girls đ« and â€ïž
- The whole scene on the bridge (Rip Scorch) I just love that whole moment from the tension, desperation, pain to the protectiveness, loyalty, and love. Such a wonderful gut-twister of a moment. Omega and reader hugging â€ïž Crosshair and Omega â€ïž "What no hug for us?" Followed by a group hug. My heart! My soul! My loves!
- Hunter and his love reuniting. I sobbed. It's all I've wanted these last few chapters, and we finally got it. Grinned at my phone with tears in my eyes. Perfection.
- The team reunion!!! Tech and Phee together. Urgh be still my throbbing heart!! It hurts we never truly got it! But that's okay cause this chapter is Canon and everyone's back together and safe and happy â€ïžâ€ïž Perfection. Perfection. Perfection.
- Crosshairâs flabbergasted reaction to Tech and Phee. *chefs kiss*
- The moment under the tree with all of them and the moment between Hunter and Readerđ„č. I'm healed. Well and truly. Im healed.
I know exactly what I want you to be Hunter. Put a ring on it.
Spectacular job! This is the ending we deserved but never got đ„Č. And still more to come â€ïž this series I have loved since the moment I discovered its existence and boy what a privilege to read and experience while it's was still being written.
Thank you, dear author. I am eagerly awaiting your update.

Author's notes: It's here! It's a rollercoaster! And Jen and Brad, we all know how it really went, okay? Happy reading!
Night had fallen by the time Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair had made more progress towards the base but even then, it was slow going. Patrols had increased and Wreckerâs injury was affecting him far more than he would like, they kept needing to stop to attend to it.
âOw.â Wrecker complained as Hunter stuck him with another med patch.
âDid you think wrestling that creature was a good idea?â Crosshair snarked.
âAt the time, yes.â Wrecker replied stubbornly.
âThe base is five klicks away. Can you make it?â Hunter offered his hand out to Wrecker to get him back on his feet.
âHa. Try and stop me.â Wrecker responded as he grasped Hunterâs hand.
Hunter waited a second to make sure the coast was clear before he led the way again.
--
Hemlock worked on drowning out the persistent blaring alarm as he walked down the corridor. His lack of success with you and Tech should not matter. He had enough to know how this squad operated. He still had everything under control. He stopped in front of the oncoming patrol group. âGuard the vault until the security lockdown is lifted.â
âDr. Hemlock, one of the insurgents has been captured.â Scorch informed him.
Hemlock followed him down the side corridor towards the cells.
--
Hemlock opened the prison door to see a familiar face. He massaged the palm of his gloved hand as he entered the room. âAligning yourself with insurgent clonesâŠâ He sighed, âNot a good look, Rampart.â
âYouâre surprisingly calm, considering this secure and secret facility has been compromised.â Rampart said with a cool countenance. âI canât imagine the Emperor will be pleased about that.â
Hemlock wasnât about to let this failure of a man get under his skin. âAll that time you spent on Kamino, yet you learned nothing about how clones think. I knew Clone Force 99 would eventually attempt to recover Omega and their Jedi. Their failure is inevitable.â
âThe Jedi, I understand. But all this for the young clone too. I fail to see how sheâs of value to you.â
Hemlock resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Of course, this fool didnât understand. âWhat I am working on is beyond your understanding. Something so vital to the Empire, it makes me indispensable. Unlike yourself.â He waltzed out the cell.
--
âThe longer this lockdown continues, the higher the chance youâll be discovered.â Emerie advised cautiously as Echo kept working through the system. âWe need to move. Now.â
âWhy canât I find any record of the vault Omegaâs held in? Or this different cell you were talking about.â
âThese databanks are heavily encrypted. The vault and the cell are several levels down. Hemlock keeps them under heavy guard, but I can get you inside.â
Echo unplugged and reattached his hand as he faced Emerie. âWhy are you helping me?â
âBecause I was wrong about this place. And-â She inhaled sharply, âIâm trying to do the right thing.â
The sincere way in which she spoke allowed Echo to view her in a new light. He gave her a respectful nod before he donned his trooper helmet and signalled for her to lead the way.
--
âYou want us to do what?â Eva double checked as Omega finished telling them the plan.
âItâs how weâre going to escape.â Omega reminded them.
âBut it sounds dangerous.â Sami said worriedly.
âMy squad I told you about? Theyâre here. If we can get out of this room and find them, we can all go home.â
âWhat about your friend?â Jax asked.
Omega had to push you to the back of her mind, as much as it pained her to do so. âMy first objective is to get you all home first.â
Home. The word felt so foreign to them now.
âYou really think this will work?â Eva asked softly.
âIâll make sure of it.â Omega promised. âIâve been trained for this. Letâs get into position.â
Doing as she said, each of the kids took up a seat at a different table to wait on Samiâs signal that they were clear to start.
Sami looked up at the window to see Dr. Scalder step away which was when she tapped her puzzle piece on the table.
Omega readied her tool as Jax and Eva approached the supervising droid.
âMy game is broken.â Eva held the device out to the droid. âCan you fix it?â
Omega snuck up behind the droid and stabbed the droidâs power centre. The three of them manoeuvred it into her cell where she could get to work on reprograming it.
Eva and Jax kept an eye out for Samiâs signal and Eva saw the Pantoran knock over the stack of pieces which only meant one thing, âDr. Scalder is on her way. Hurry.â
âYouâve done this before, right?â Jax asked as Omega seemed no closer to getting whatever it was that she needed to do to the droid completed.
âYes, but not on this type of droid.â Omega hissed as she hurriedly worked on the wires in the droidâs main control panel.
--
Dr. Scalder entered the lab and asked the specimen still at the table, âWhere are the others?â
Sami stayed silent and held Bayrn close to her.
âSp-39, I asked you a question.â
Sami pointed behind Dr. Scalder as she saw the three of them approaching.
âWe w-were with the droid.â Eva said quietly, her head hanging in automatic submission.
Dr. Scalder sighed in exasperation. âAnother scan wasnât scheduled. Tell me what you were really doing.â
âEvaâs telling the truth.â Omega said calmy as the droid drew closer to Dr. Scalder. âWe were with the droid.â
âDr. Karr has been too lenient with you all. Return to your alcoves. A few days of isolation should remind you-â That was all she got to say before a needle pierced her skin and she fell unconscious.
âIt worked.â Sammi gasped as Bayrn released a few happy babbles.
âYou did great.â Omega praised. âNow, we have to hurry. Droid, guard the door. Sami, prep the sling for Bayrn.â
Omega dashed into her room and used her tool to get under the first panel before she could tear the rest down. Turning to the others and seeing that Bayrn was now secure on Jaxâs back and Eva had her doll strapped to her, Omega asked, âReady?â
âReady.â Jax confirmed.
Omega led them into the walls as part to of their escape was underway.
--
Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair paused again as another ship passed overhead.
âHeâs gonna need another med patch.â Crosshair advised Hunter as he heard Wreckerâs strained grunt and the way he kept bringing his hand to his chest.
âWeâre out.â Hunter said regrettably. Seeing Wrecker so hurt was a rare thing and it made the decision to carry on forward to Tantiss that bit harder.
Wrecker got to his feet with a groan. âI- I can make it.â
Hunter and Crosshair shared a concerned look, but they followed in their brotherâs insistent footsteps through the jungle yet again.
--
Emerie led the way to the vault, with Echo walking a few paces behind.
Echo took in the corridor awash with red beams of light. âThe kids who are held in here, whereâd they come from?â
âThe Empire used bounty hunters to retrieve them. Their genetic material was required for certain medical testing. I didnât know about them until recently. I couldnât help them. Until now.â Emerie paused by the vault door.
âWell, how do the two of them fit into all this?â Echo asked as he thought about you and Omega. âThese kids, are they like-â
âI believe they could be, yes. As for Omega, sheâs vital to Hemlockâs main objective for the Emperor. Project Necromancer.â
âAnd (Y/N)?â
âHemlock wanted her blood for the same purposes as these children, but he also had ulterior motives that his focus has shifted more towards. He stopped taking her samples a while ago.â
âShifted to what?â Echo asked warily.
Emerie swallowed, âHe wants her to join his operatives. He thinks he can⊠condition her the same way.â
All of what Emerie said made his blood run cold. âDonât like the sound of that.â
--
âEverybody good?â Omega asked to the group behind her as they all squeezed along the path she had found to their destination.
âBayrnâs getting restless. H- He wonât be quiet for much longer.â Jax warned.
âDonât worry. Things are about to get very loud anyways.â Omega stopped and peered through the slats in the wall and saw that the Zillo Beast and the number of personnel watching it was still the same as what it had been when sheâd first came upon it. âWait here.â She removed the grate and sneakily clambered out and made her way to where the controls that were keeping the beast contained were situated.
However, just as she reached it and was determining which buttons did what, she heard Bayrnâs wails echo throughout the chamber, and she knew she had to hurry. She sussed out what controls would get her what she needed and when the button lit up and she pulled on the lever, she heard the winning sound of the system powering down.
As the troopers rallied to try to contain the now very awake and active Zillo Beast, she darted back and hid with the others in the wall once more and had the joy of watching her plan come to fruition.
The chaos and destruction that unfolded was something she knew Wrecker would be proud of.
--
Emerie opened the main vault door but was taken aback by what greeted her. âWhatâs going on in here?â She inquired as Dr. Scalder was escorted past- groaning and clutching at her head. But what concerned her more was the intense conversation occurring between Dr. Hemlock and Scorch.
âOmega and the specimens have escaped.â Hemlock informed her, rage simmering in his voice. âDue to Dr. Scalderâs incompetence, they exploited a weak point in within the walls. She will be dealt with.â
Just as he said that there was an intense rumble that shook the entire facility and the lights flickered off and on again.
âThe Zilloâs loose in the containment level.â Scorch revealed as the information came through his comms.
Whatever was happening had not been what heâd anticipated, clearly, heâd been wise to seek the information from you and Tech, it was just an unfortunate setback that he had been unable to acquire it but no matter, he was still in control. Now that he knew Omega was out, he could go back to what he already knew about their ways. âShut down the reactor and send a diversion to secure the transport hangar.â Hemlock said sharply. âCheck on SP-42, Dr. Karr. Then find Omega. Consider your fate now tied to hers.â He exited the vault.
âSP-42?â Echo murmured, already knowing and fearing the answer.
âYes.â Emerie confirmed quietly as the other troopers departed. She waited until everyone else left before she spoke to Echo in a louder voice, âI donât understand. Where could the children have gone?â
Echo may not have understood a lot about the goings on in Tantiss but there was one thing about this that he did know for certain. âOmega. She released the Zillo.â
âHow do you know that?â
âBecause itâs exactly what Iâd do.â He replied with a cheery sense of pride. âSheâs splitting their numbers and creating a diversion. Come on.â
The two of them jogged out of the lab and Emerie led the way to you.
--
Echo followed Emerie as she took another sharp turn down a corridor and then opened a set of doors that led to another small, tight corridor with a door a few metres down.
Emerie rifled through one of the compartments in the walls outside the cell and took out your lightsaber which she clipped to her belt before she grabbed the proper medkit. Then, she grabbed a small set of keys from her person and cautiously opened the door, â(Y/N), itâs Emerie and Echo. Weâre here to get you out.â
Echoâs mouth went dry as he saw you for the first time since Teth and he took in the dirtied and blood-stained uniform. It was definitely better that he found you like this instead of Hunter but even then, he was still having to steady his own breathing.
âEmerie, I donât mean to tell you how to do your job, but youâre supposed to stick me with the needle before you say things like that.â You croaked through dry and cracked lips as you kept your eyes shut.
Echo took in the mix of fresh and fading bruises on your face and the way your body was racked with exhaustion. Emerieâs prior information did not even come close to accurate- this wasnât conditioning, it was torture. âYou just allowed this to happen?â He questioned angrily as he snatched the key from Emerie and strode over to your slumped form.
âOh, now thatâs good. He almost sounds like him.â You complimented with a weary sigh.
âI didnât mean to- Hemlock- he was-â She stopped any attempt at defence because no matter what, sheâd played a part in this. âI did what I could to help her.â
âOpen your eyes and look at me.â Echo implored as he undid your chains and took off his helmet.
âNo.â You whimpered. âItâs a trick. Itâs always a trick.â
âItâs not a trick.â Echo reassured you as he rested both hands on your shoulders. âOpen your eyes.â
âEcho doesnât have two hands.â You said, aggressively shaking your head as you kept your eyes tightly shut.
âLook at me.â
âNo.â
âLook at me.â Echo pleaded. Time wasnât on his side here and he needed you back with them.
He sounded so real; you couldnât help yourself. You slowly opened your eyes and took in the familiar face and the eyes that were filled with worry as they looked at you. âEcho?â You whispered; your tone filled with uncertainty.
âYeah, itâs me.â
âYouâre here? This is real?â Even though Omega had told you this would happen, you hadnât allowed yourself to fully believe it.
âItâs real. And the others are on their way.â He confirmed with a small reassuring smile.
You flung your arms around him and as he returned your embrace, you already began to feel more alive than you had since arriving here.
âCome on, we gotta get you on your feet.â Echo supported you as you shakily stood up.
âWhereâs- whereâs Omega?â You said through gritted teeth as your body protested the movement. You knew she had a plan of her own but with Echo and Emerie here, you had to wonder why she wasnât with them.
Emerie gave you a round of E-bacta shots to get you closer to the level of fitness they needed you to be.
At the first injection, you automatically flinched away from her and into Echoâs side.
Emerie paused and chastised herself for being so thoughtless. She held up her hands in a pacifying gesture and apologised, âSorry. Itâs just bacta to help you heal quickly.â But she waited for you to give the okay before she went any further.
You regarded her suspiciously and made no moves to allow her to carry on. You were on edge, just waiting for the familiar effects to set in and for this to all come crashing down around you.
Echo felt your body go rigid as you leaned into him. Heâd never seen you like this and it unnerved him. He was so used to seeing you remain unphased, no matter what came your way. Whatever torture Hemlock had done to you had left far more than physical marks. âI saw her grab the med supplies. She wants to help.â He reassured you gently.
You glanced at his face but saw honesty and so you nodded to Emerie to continue.
Once you were more relaxed, Echo answered your question. âOmegaâs already helped us out. Her plan to release the Zillo Beast has worked very well so far. Their forces are a bit stretched and frantic at the moment.â He informed you proudly.
âOh, sheâs brilliant.â You murmured with affectionate admiration.
Echo nodded in agreement as Emerie finished tending to you.
âHey, wait a minute, you do have another hand?!â You gawped before wincing as the final injection entered your skin- the pricks were still a painful reminder of what you had endured here.
âNot exactly the time for that.â Echo reminded you.
âWe cannot linger here. We need to keep moving.â Emerie agreed hastily as she put the medical supplies away.
You nodded sheepishly. âYup, youâre right, youâre right. Keep that for later.â
Echo picked up his helmet and put it over his head. âCan you walk?â Echo asked.
You rolled your sore shoulders as you took a steadying breath and nodded. âThe bacta is working. Letâs go.â You called on the Force to help you find that extra bit of strength as you all exited the cell.
--
The three of them stopped again and Crosshair used his binoculars to scan ahead. He saw a squad of troopers with lurca hounds and everything heâd been trying to supress since arriving back here came rushing back. His hand trembled and his breathing came to him in short pants. He couldnât do this. His brothers couldnât do this; he wouldnât let them. âTheyâve got heavy patrols guarding the perimeter with lurca hounds.â
âTold you we shouldâve brought Batcher.â Wrecker joked feebly, groaning in pain and bracing himself against a tree. He noticed the helmeted looks of concern that were sent his way from both his brothers. âStop looking at me like that! Iâm fine!â He insisted through another groan.
âNo, youâre not.â Crosshair disagreed strongly. âChange of plans. You two, head to the communications array and try to contact Rex.â He drew his sniper rifle. âIâll infiltrate the base myself.â
âNot happening.â Hunter objected.
âYeah, weâve handled worse situations than this. Countless-â
âWake up, Wrecker.â Crosshair snapped. âClone Force 99 died with Tech.â His voice dropped slightly, âWeâre not that squad anymore.â
Wrecker and Hunter reflected on that for a moment and Crosshair was right, they werenât, it was true. But theyâd become something more, hadnât they? Something that meant far more than just a squad title for a war effort. And Tech, alive or dead, was a part of that too.
âIâve been inside that mountain. I know what weâre up against. If we all go in, weâre not all making it out.â Crosshair continued. â(Y/N) and Omega need you both. So, Iâm doing this alone. Itâs- itâs what I deserve.â He said, almost to himself.
Hunter wasnât going to accept that or even entertain the possibility. âDonât even think about Plan 99, Crosshair. They need all of us, and so do those clones.â He stood facing his brother, so he knew, even with his helmet on, that he meant every word.
âWeâve always known the risks. And so did Tech.â Wrecker placed a hand on Crosshairâs shoulder.
The sounds of the lurca hounds in distress got their focus back and Hunter looked through his binoculars just as the hounds were running away from their handlers.
âWhatâs going on?â Wrecker asked.
A deep banging and screaming of dying troopers answered his question as the Zillo Beast emerged from the base with a piercing roar.
Crosshair knew that could only be the result of one of three people. âWhose handiwork?â
âOmegaâs.â Hunter and Wrecker said in unison.
âIf sheâs giving us a way in, letâs not waste it.â Hunter said before setting off towards the base again.
--
Satisfied that it was safe to emerge, Omega removed the grate and led the way over to the ladder that ran up the entirety of the base.
âYou want us to climb up t-that?â Jax asked nervously.
âThe Zillo got out this way. So can we.â Omega replied but she saw a familiar but fearful reluctance on Jaxâs face. âWhatâs wrong?â She asked kindly.
âIâm not good with heights.â Jax admitted. âI- I guess Iâd make a poor soldier.â He said shamefully.
Omegaâs eyes softened. âMy brother Wrecker hates heights too. And heâs the strongest soldier I know.â She touched Jaxâs shoulder in reassurance, âJust stay focused on whatâs ahead, not whatâs below.â She waved them all over and led the climb up the ladder.
--
âThe Zillo breached the bay doors and fled to the jungle after wiping out two full divisions of troopers.â Scorch said as he entered the control room. âWe need reinforcements.â
Hemlock kept his hands behind his back but clenched his covered hand into a fist. âSend the shuttles after the Zillo.â
âBut, sir, without air support, the rogue clones could exploit our weakened defences.â
âOf course they will. Do it.â Hemlock strode out of the control room.
--
Hemlock entered the training room and powered up the system. Even though he hadnât wanted to use them just yet, the situation called for it and it was time they had a true test. Even though theyâd only come up against you, Hemlock had no doubt that they were ready and could get him the results he needed. He watched with a dark smile as they emerged from their capsules.
He said nothing to them yet, he just motioned for them to follow him out but as he did so, he was interrupted by Scorch again.
âSir, the Jedi has escaped.â Scorch told Hemlock. âShould I send a squadron to look for her?â
Hemlock massaged his gloved palm harder as he felt that rage flare up again but then a remarkable sense of calm overcame him, and a new idea emerged from the clarity. Perhaps this was the way to go after all. âNo need, Commander. Send a squad to accompany the operatives to the hangar bay and when she is found, I want her alive. I want all of Clone Force 99 alive.â He nodded to his soldiers to leave for the hangar.
Now, you all would do the work for him.
All he had to do was wait.
--
The three of you waited until the corridor was clear before you followed Emerie around the corner and down towards another door.
Emerie slid her datapad into the panel and programmed the door to open, but it only opened a fraction before the system shorted out.
Echo peered through the gap and saw the wreckage ahead. âWeâre on the right track. Omega definitely came through here.â
âAnd went where? How are they getting around unseen?â Emerie asked.
Echo followed up path of chaos up the way. âWhatâs at the top of this shaft?â He moved out the way so Emerie could look.
âIt leads up to one of the transport hangars.â
âAny chance you know a shortcut?â Echo checked.
Emerie nodded and made to leave the area.
You didnât follow them, instead you puffed out a short breath, âThis isnât going to work.â
Echo and Emerie paused and looked back at you.
âI canât stay with the two of you. The fact we havenât been caught yet is incredibly fortunate but the longer Iâm with you, the more likely it is thatâll happen. We canât risk either of you being discovered.â
âWell, what do you suggest?â Echo asked.
âYou two can go find Omega and those kids, Iâll find Hunter and the others.â
âYou donât know the way.â Emerie pointed out.
âSure I do.â You motioned through the gap in the door. âJust follow the mess and head straight up, right? I can get there quicker than you can now that Iâm free and feeling a lot better.â
âThere will be soldiers and youâre not 100%. And thereâs no clear way through either.â
âIâm a lot more capable when Iâm not bound and tortured.â You argued pointedly.
âItâs still not a viable-â
âEchoâŠâ You tilted your head in his direction. âPlease tell her.â
Echo nodded to you and then spoke to Emerie, âShe can do it. Plus, you wonât really be able to stop her. There are only two that could, one of them is somewhere in this base and the other is doing his best to get here.â
âHeâs right. Youâve helped heal me and I think youâll find I can be far more stubborn and irritating when Iâm not in a permanent state of pain.â You said with a simple shrug.
Emerie sighed but conceded the matter. The debate wouldnât get them anywhere and, thanks to the bacta, you were on the mend. Plus, you had skills that would aid you in this task. âVery well. Youâll need this.â She handed you your weapon.
You took your lightsaber from her with a nod of thanks.
âFor what itâs worth, Iâm sorry. I shouldâve done more to stop him.â
You offered her a slight smile. âWell, you did stop me bleeding out that one time soâŠâ
Emerie wasnât about to let you let her off the hook so easily. âI shouldâve done more.â She repeated seriously.
âYouâre doing more now.â You said, dipping your head in acceptance of her words.
Echo rested his left hand on your shoulder. âBe careful.â
You placed your own hand on his upper arm. âYou too.â With that, you used the Force to widen the gap in the door and hurried through it.
Echo and Emerie began their more traditional route.
--
You took in the levels of destruction ahead of you and you had to hand it to both Omega and the Zillo Beast, they definitely didnât do things by halves.
Calling on the Force, you jumped to the next highest safe point you could reach, and kept that going when you could, climbing quickly when you couldnât, and the hangar was drawing closer by the minute.
You knew it wouldnât be long before you saw them again.
But you also knew it would be far from over when you reached them.
--
Blasters drawn, the three of them had managed to reach the transport hangar and sneak their way in. The entire hangar was decimated, with bits of itâs interior now reduced to piles of scrap metal. Fires were dying all around them.
Just as Hunter was assessing the situation, he dodged the blaster bolt aimed right at his head.
They all took cover behind some scrap metal and looked ahead at the emerging squad of troopers.
âWhat now?â Wrecker grunted.
Crosshair was the first to peer out and he saw the stormtroopers but that wasnât what unnerved him. The sight of four operative soldiers standing on a pile of wreckage is what alarmed him. They couldnât handle this.
âHow many?â Wrecker asked as he saw Crosshair press himself back against the scrapheap.
âToo many.â
âW-we can take âem.â
Crosshair steadied his shaking hand. âNo we canât. Not in your condition. We need to fall back.â
âCrosshair-â Hunter tried to argue, not trusting that Crosshair was planning.
âGo! Iâll be right behind you.â Crosshair placed a sticky bomb on the end of his rifle and fired it at a fixture hanging over the main area of the transport bay.
As they began their retreat, the troopers starting firing on them and advancing towards them.
They could only be on the defence as they fired back.
--
You heard blaster fire above you and- breathing hard after the strenuous climb- with one final jump, you reached the ruined transport hangar. Some wreckage blocked your path but you used the Force to push it out your way and the sight that greeted you had your stomach lurching. Troopers were everywhere and, although you had been blindfolded the entire time, you knew the four armoured soldiers making their way through the hordes of soldiers were the operatives Hemlock had pitted you against and were what he wanted you to become. You knew yourself that you still werenât ready for this type of combat, but you couldnât do nothing.
You took a revitalising breath as you centred yourself and blocked the lingering pain you were feeling from your mind before you ignited your lightsaber, the shining blue blade giving you that added strength you needed.
With a Force-aided leap, you sailed over the heads of troopers and placed yourself between them and the clones behind you.
--
For a moment, time stood still.
Hunter stopped falling back as he heard that familiar ignition sound and his head snapped towards the source and his breath caught in his throat as he saw you.
It was you. Standing in a soiled prison uniform but in a wash of blue light that stood out from the ember flames was you.
However, something was off as you blocked the blaster fire and struck down the troopers around you. Your movements werenât quite as fluid or easy as they typically were. You moved stiffly, almost cautiously, and it was obvious to him that you were hurting. He could only let the worst imaginings take hold of him as he thought about what had happened to you and his blood boiled as anger raged through him.
Hunter got a hold of himself and fired at a trooper that was taking aim for your back.
At the sound of a body dropping next to you, you turned and followed the path the shot took, and sharp gasp left your throat.
Everything else around you slowed down and faded into the background as you caught his helmeted gaze. The paint, like his brotherâs, had been stripped from his armour, but it was him. He could wear a hundred disguises, decorate his armour in a hundred different ways and youâd know it was him. Youâd know him anywhere.
Time swiftly righted itself swiftly again once Crosshairâs bomb went off, shaking the already weak integrity that remained of the hangar. The entire room trembled. Â
You cut through the final trooper before you turned off your saber and jumped over the falling ceiling beam. You saw the top of where the hangar bay doors used to be begun to collapse which threatened to block their way out and so you called on the Force and held the structure in place. You could buy them enough time to get out and then you could follow.
But you sensed the oncoming threat a second too late.
One of the larger operatives tackled your waist and you both went sliding along the floor.
--
Hunter and Wrecker watched as the once steady structure started to fall once more. Clearly, whatever help you were providing was no longer available. Now, the approaching gunship was their main concern.
Hunter shoved Wrecker out of the line of fire but the resulting explosions behind him threw him across the room where he clattered into a heap of wreckage and the knock-on impact from the blast saw more falling pieces land on top of him. Darkness engulfed him.
Crosshair killed the pilot and began to run over to the two of them.
Wrecker dashed over to where his brother had fallen, âHunter!â He removed the metal and picked him up, but he didnât get very far before a weighted bolas wrapped around his legs, causing him to trip and drop Hunter.
Crosshair caught up to Wrecker, holstered his sniper rifle, and took the vibroblade from the side of Wreckerâs leg and worked on cutting through the rope but he saw another operative heading straight for him. He wasnât able to draw his blaster in time. The blow landed and sent him careening backwards.
Wrecker couldnât do anything to help his brother either. The operative that had tripped him up and hit Crosshair now towered above him and pressed his electrostaff straight into the gash in his chest and the pain was excruciating. His entire body was engulfed by the electric current and he didnât have the energy to fight against the man above him or the hurt anymore, it all got too much, and he succumbed to the darkness.
Stars danced in front of Crosshairâs eyes as his back hit against another piece of debris and his head snapped back against the metal, but he saw that Wrecker was in trouble and he made himself stay awake as he searched for his weapon which he saw a few metres to his right. But his attempts to grab it were thwarted instantly. Crosshair groaned as a foot stamped down on his wrist before he could reach his blaster.
CX-2 caught the vibrosword from his counterpart before he looked down at the pathetic form beneath him, âYou should be more careful with your shooting hand.â
Those were the last words Crosshair registered before he saw the blade descend and he felt a deep, searing pain and his sight went black.
--
You and the operative that had attacked you had been engaged in a fight all on your own whilst that had all gone down.
The operative had gained the upper hand in the tussle and your lightsaber had escaped your hold in the struggle.
Right now, you were doing your best to stay conscious as the operative straddled your chest and wrapped his hands around your throat, squeezing hard.
You powerfully facepalmed the underside of his chin so his neck whipped back, stunning him for a second but it was a much needed second.
With that second, his hold on your neck loosened and you were able to remove his hands from you. You pushed him off you and to the side of your body where, with a ragged breath, you got to your feet.
You stomped down hard on his stomach as he attempted to sit up. With one hand, you used the Force to keep him flat on the ground- his futile struggles spurring you on. With the other hand, you called your lightsaber to your it and activated your blade as you swung it downâŠ
âStop.â
Your blade hovered over the operativeâs chest as you angled your head in the direction of the recognisable voice. Your breathing left you in short, uneven pants as you glared at him.
âSurrender or his head goes next.â
Your mouth went dry as you saw what the operative from Pabu was talking about. Crosshairâs shooting hand had been cut clean off and now the long vibroblade weapon was resting over his neck.
âPut your weapon down, or they all die.â
You scanned for the other two and saw another operative standing over Wrecker with an electrospear pressing down on what appeared to be an open chest wound and Hunter lay limp and unmoving on the ground.
The only reassuring thing about this situation was that they all were still breathing. Unconscious, but still alive. And thatâs how you wanted to keep them.
You clenched your jaw and ground out a defeated breath as you disengaged your weapon and released your hold of the soldier beneath you.
Your operative got to his feet and snatched your weapon from you and, with a hard punch to your jaw, took your arms behind your back and held your wrists together in a strong and unnecessarily tight grip.
You were too dazed to do anything to resist it.
They moved you all out and back into Tantiss base.
--
Omega reached the top of the level that led to the transport hangar. As theyâd all drawn nearer, they had heard the sounds of blaster fire, but it had all stopped now. She only hoped that meant Hunter and the others had gotten through.
She headed off for the hangar bay, the children following behind.
--
Echo and Emerie exited the lift and made for the but both of them slowed as they saw a group of operatives go down the corridor.
There were three soldiers unconscious on hovercrafts.
You were pushed along behind them, your arms held securely behind you by one of the soldiers, a fresh purple bruise on your jaw.
Emerie glanced at Echo and even with the helmet on, she could tell he was worried, âIs that the rest of your squad?â She asked as they all rounded the corner.
âYeah.â Echo said, his voice low. âWhere are they being taken?â
âI donât know. But Hemlock will keep them well guarded.â
âI can handle that. But we have to find the children first.â
Emerie waited a second in case he wanted to change his mind. She could tell his mind was still with all of you, but he was pushing through for the current objective. âThe science hangar is up ahead.â
--
Omega guided the others into the room and took cover by a crate as they all took in the destruction. Whatever had happened here wasnât solely due to the Zillo Beast anymore- a firefight had occurred here too.
âDo you see your squad?â Eva whispered to Omega.
âNot yet.â
âHey! You donât belong here. Call it in.â
Omega jumped to her feet and started to back away from the two troopers, but two stun blasts shot above her head towards the men. She turned back around to see her rescuer was another stormtrooper.
âCausing chaos, Havoc 5?â
âEcho?â Omega gasped happily.
Echo removed his helmet and smiled, âHey kid.â He then saw more children come out from behind Omega. âAnd other kids.â
âThe shuttles in bay four are still operational.â Emerie informed him as she came back from checking them out.
âYouâre helping us, Dr. Karr?â Eva said in surprise.
âI am. But we must hurry.â
Echo put his helmet back on and he and Emerie led the way to the shuttle at a run.
As they reached the shuttle, Omega paused and looked around her. âWait. Where are Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair? And (Y/N), weâve got to free her!â
âWe got her out, but we split up and now, theyâre all detained together.â Echo told her.
âYou mean captured?â
âFor now.â Echo turned to Emerie and slotted his blaster under his arm. âCan you fly that shuttle?â
âYes. Why?â
Echo brought out a datacard and gave it to her. âTake the kids to these coordinates. Weâll meet you there.â
Sami, Jax and Eva all looked at one another anxiously.
âYouâre not coming with us?â Jax asked Omega.
âThere are more prisoners inside, including my family. I canât leave without them.â Omega welcomed their group embrace and rubbed Bayrnâs head. âDonât worry. Emerieâs taking you someplace safe. Weâll meet you there.â The kids let her go and stepped away.
âHere.â Emerie passed her datapad to Omega. âThis will help you access all wings of the facility.â
âLook after them.â Omega instructed her sister.
âYou have my word.â Emerie promised. She placed her hand on Omegaâs shoulder. âBe careful, Omega. AndâŠâ Emerie took a short breath before she shared her final bit of what she hoped was useful intel. âAnd if you can, check out the maintenance closet in the prison level. It isnât what it says, Hemlock spent almost as much time there as he did with your Jedi friend, and he didnât tell me why. But he never did anything without a purpose. Heâs hiding something there; I just donât know what.â
âTech was more resistant to my methods this time.â Hemlockâs words echoed in her head, and she couldnât help it, theories and hope started to stir in her. She nodded to Emerie before she and Echo took off back to the base and back to the rest of you.
âYou ready?â Echo asked as the door opened just as the shuttle with Emerie took off and away to safety.
Sheâd succeeded in her initial objective. Now it was time for the next one. âLetâs complete the mission.â
--
This was no nightmare.
This was no illusion.
This was no trick.
This was not a figment of your imagination.
You were not under the influence of any injection or serum.
There was no denying what you were hearing and seeing now.
There was no blocking out this type of agony that you were experiencing.
Hunterâs moans and screams of pain as the electricity crackled against his temples and jolted through the rest of his body were real.
It was all horrifyingly, heartbreakingly real.
And no matter how much you struggled against your captorâs hold, you were helpless to do anything but watch and listen.
There was no convincing yourself that it wasnât happening.
And you knew would do anything to make it stop.
Hemlock studied the room. Your hands were now bound in cuffs in front of your body, but one operative still kept a vice-like grip on your shoulder. Hunter and the others were in their capsules, bound and powerless. Crosshair and Wrecker were still unconscious, and Crosshairâs right wrist was being sealed off by a droid. He ignored you for the moment, your time would come soon, for now, his attention lied with Hunter. He signalled for the machine to be turned off.
Hunter panted heavily as the torture finally stopped. Everything hurt, his limbs burned, his head felt like it was going to explode- and that was just from this. He could still fill a deep soreness in his ribs from the blast in the hangar bay. And right now, it may have stopped but he still felt the current in his veins, so the pain endured. He could barely keep his eyes open. He attempted to free his hands from the binders, but they were too tight. Then, he heard Hemlockâs cool, quiet voice.
âThe last time we crossed paths, you had just lost a member of your squad. And it appears history may repeat itself. CT-9904 resisted my conditioning in the past, but Iâve made alterations to my methods. Something your⊠partner can attest to. If you all survive, you will make fine operatives.â
Hunter followed Hemlockâs gaze to where Wrecker and Crosshair were and the wave of guilt that he felt upon seeing what heâd brought on them made way for new type of hurt to enter the mix. Then his sights found yours and he saw the fear and distress in your eyes at Hemlockâs words. He had rarely seen you look so genuinely terrified and yet whatever else Hemlock was talking about got that from you.
âNo!â You shouted as you violently fought against the hand holding you back. You couldnât bear it if they suffered that fate or had to go through anymore of this.
Hemlock ignored you and approached Hunter. âAnd if not, well, thereâs no shortage of clones to test on next.â
âWeâll survive. But you wonât.â Hunter said with as much strength as he could muster.
Hemlock regarded the clone pitifully and indicated to the operative to start the process once more.
Hunter couldnât help the anguished shouts that left him as he felt that electric fire deep in his body once more, each nerve felt like it was burning away.
âStop! Stop hurting him!â You cried out as you pulled against the hand on your shoulder. You couldnât tear your eyes away from him. You wanted to take his pain away.
Hemlock turned to you and hummed out a pleased laugh as he saw the torment on your face. He had you right where he wanted you. âDo you know I finally figured something out?â
You breathed heavily as Hemlock touched the recent bruise on your jaw but did nothing to stop him in case it made things worse for the rest of them.
âYou didnât succumb to my methods because they werenât real. I was foolish to think a Jedi such as yourself would be so easily fooled by mind games. You needed the element of doubt removed and look at the results. One glimpse of the real thing and see how you quickly you fall apart.â Hemlock said smugly.
You werenât looking at the doctor, you were looking past him to at the man you loved with every part of you.
The man who had brought you into a crazy, wonderful family.
The man who had shown you more patience and care than you had ever deserved.
The man who had enabled you to open your heart to everything he had to offer and who had shown you that attachment could be a beautiful thing.
The man who had your heart and soul.
But was now being put through the worst kind of pain he could experience.
And then you looked to the others. To the ones who had welcomed you instantly and who had risked everything for you and Omega and who were now hurting and endangered because of it.
And it was tearing you apart. âJust let them go. Let him go. Stop this, Hemlock, please.â You choked out.
Hemlock nodded again to get the operative controlling the machine to stop. He wanted the clone awake for this.
Hunter gasped in limited relief as the electricity turned off once more. He fought through the pain to keep his eyes open as he saw Hemlock beside you, a cruel yet somehow gleeful smile on the manâs face that worried him in a way he hadnât experienced before. There was something deeply unsettling about the sight of him standing so close to you like that. Â
âYou know, from our time together, I can see why you would fall for her.â Hemlock commented to the clone. âShe showed remarkable durability and resolve. She was quite a challenging subject.â
Hunter clenched and unclenched his hands as he watched Hemlock. It wasnât just the physical torture that had his body feeling this much pain. After what youâd told him about Christophsis, heâd never wanted you to go through that hell again, but you had. Heâd been far too late. Â Â
âBut of course, such feelings are a weakness, all too easy to exploit. Oh, you shouldâve heard her cry out for you, just begging me to end your suffering.â Hemlock pretended to ponder the next decision. âThen again, perhaps you can.â He stood in front of you.
Your blood ran cold as you saw the look in Hemlockâs eyes.
âYou wish for his pain to stop?â Hemlock asked you, a wicked and calculated smile on his face.
âYes.â You said, your voice scarcely above a whisper.
âBeg.â
âNo.â Hunter rasped as he heard the demand.
You shoved down the bile that rose in your throat at the thought. âPlease.â You breathed.
âNot so resistant now, are you?â Hemlock taunted cruelly. âBut I donât think you mean it.â
âDonât do it.â Hunter ground out weakly.
But you would. You would do anything. You kept your attention on Hemlock. âIâm begging you, please, please donât hurt him anymore.â
âMore.â Hemlock commanded, enjoying the distraught etched on your face and the pathetic attempts the clone gave at breaking free to stop this.
You didnât need the pressure on your shoulder that came from the operative by your side. You did it freely. You didnât care about the humiliation, you only cared about making it end. On your knees, you glanced up at Hemlock, your voice hoarse as you pleaded, âPlease. Please stop hurting him. Iâll do whatever you want.â
Hemlock caressed the side of your head. âYou know what I want.â
The sight of you begging on your knees for that man caused him more pain than any machine could. Hunter, as weak as he was, still attempted to get out of his prison. You shouldnât have to do this, not for him.
You did. You knew precisely what he was after, but you automatically shook your head in refusal.
Hemlock simply snapped his fingers.
Hunter tossed his head back and writhed and yelled in pain as the electricity coursed through his body once more.
âNo, stop! Please!â You begged. You couldnât take it anymore.
Hemlock held his hand up and it ceased once more. âWell?â
You swallowed tightly. And it wasnât just Hunter you wanted to save; you had a family you needed to protect. âI join you, they donât.â You negotiated quietly, hating the words as they left your mouth.
Hemlock considered the options in his head. Getting a Jedi under his command would be yet another testament to his work and that was worth more to him than these clones. It was a sacrifice he could make. âJoin me and I will allow them to remain prisoners here. No conditioning required.â
You knew that was the best you were going to get for them right now. You squeezed your eyes tight as you resigned yourself to what you were about to do and ignored Hunterâs pained and faint protests. âIâll join you.â You barely got the words out, but youâd said them now. You opened your eyes to that sadistic and twisted grin, the one from your nightmares. The one that he'd wear once he made some kind of monumental breakthrough in his research. And this time, it was warranted. Heâd done it. Heâd finally broken you.
Another Imperial entered the room. âDoctor, there is an incoming transmission from Governor Tarkin.â
Hemlock signalled back to the operative stood by Hunterâs capsule.
A raw and tormented scream left Hunterâs throat as his senses were overloaded once more.
You rushed to your feet and went to lunge for the doctor, but the operative held you back. âNo! You said-â
âThink of it as a reminder of what will happen if you change your mind.â Hemlock said icily as he left the room.
If it werenât for the bruising grip on your upper arms, you wouldâve collapsed to the ground, but you were left with no choice but to stand there and live with what youâd decided and to hear Hunterâs cries.
--
The lift opened to the prison level and before the troopers on guard had time to react, Echo shot them both. He picked up the loose blasters and he and Omega advanced down the corridor.
More troopers came at them, but Echo easily took care of them whilst Omega slid the datapad into one of the terminals.
âHey, kid. Whatâs going on?â
Omega turned to the clone that addressed her from behind his cell door. âWeâre breaking out.â With that, she programmed all cell doors to open. âHere.â She tossed the clone a spare blaster she had acquired. âIâll look for the others.â She told Echo, mentally including the so-called maintenance closet in that statement.
Just as she looked down one corridor, she saw another familiar face. âNala Se!â She ran over to the Kaminoan.
Nala Se knelt down to the girlâs level. âOmega, why did you come back to this place?â
âI had to, but itâs okay. Weâre all getting out this time.â She reassured her old mentor before she carried on past her, anxiously scanning for any sign of you all.
--
Omega hadnât seen any of you, but she had found the door Emerie had referred to. She knew perhaps the hope she was feeling in her heart was foolish, but she couldnât help it, it was who she was. And sheâd rather know for sure than spend the rest of her life regretting that she never tried. She held her breath as she opened the door.
Omegaâs exhale left her with an indistinguishable surprised and elated sound as she saw the figure.
He may have a supportive brace encasing his entire right leg.
He may be without his goggles.
He may look dishevelled and weary.
But there was no mistaking his face.
This was her brother. The brother she never thought she would see again. The one that had given up everything for them. Yet, somehow, he was standing there before her.
Omega stared at the man that had turned to face her when the door opened. âTech?â She gasped, scarcely believing it. She needed him to speak, to confirm that she wasnât seeing things.
Techâs eyes widened in shock. He hadnât dared take Hemlockâs words as the whole truth, but he recognised the child immediately and⊠and he felt alive again. âOmega?â
Another joyful sound left her throat as happy tears welled in her eyes. She dashed forward and wrapped her arms around his waist.
âDid it not work?â Tech whispered as he rested his hands on her back. He recognised the prison uniform. And he didnât remember a lot since Eriadu, especially with the months spent enduring Hemlockâs manipulations, but he had thought the rail car had gotten away at least.
âNo, it- well-â She stopped. âThe main thing to know is Crosshair did betray the Empire and heâs back with us. We can catch you up on the rest once weâre out of here.â
The news about his brother made him sigh in relief. They had been without Crosshair for far too long and Hemlockâs lies had been the only moments he had to imagine what having him back would feel like but the happy emotions it brought had all been spoiled and tainted by Hemlockâs cruelty. Now, he could allow himself to feel that happy again and he could be confident in knowing it was true. Then, he remembered the last part of Omegaâs statement. âOut of here?â Tech repeated, the very concept had felt like a distant desire for such a long time.
Omega smiled at him, âCome on, Echo is waiting. Weâre breaking everyone out.â
Tech released a long, relieved breath, âAn excellent idea.â He concurred. He followed her- a slight limp in his gait now- out of the cell that he hadnât been sure heâd ever leave.
--
âWe gave up hope that anyone was coming to help us.â
Echo held his helmet and addressed the clone that had first spoken to Omega when theyâd arrived, âWeâve been looking for this base for a while.â
âEcho, I searched all the cells. Theyâre not here. But I did find someone else.â
Echo turned at the sound of Omegaâs voice but what he saw had his jaw dropping and his helmet fell from his grasp. He said nothing as he walked towards his brother and clasped him close. âI donât believe it. How- I mean- you called out the plan- we saw you fall.â
Tech hadnât quite expected the hug, but he welcomed it all the same. It felt good to accept that fighting against Hemlock this time had been worth the pain. This was a truth he could trust. âYou forget that my intelligence did not cease to exist after I shot that connection hinge.â
Omega smiled as she heard that loveable cockiness in his voice.
Echo released his brother but kept his eyes on him. âAre you okay?â He asked, voice fuelled with concern.
Tech grew more solemn again. âAs much as could be expected. However, Iâm afraid to say that I have failed our squad. Hemlock, he wanted information about you all. I resisted when I could but- but his methods were rather⊠effective at getting the results he wanted.â
Echo had seen what Hemlockâs methods could do so in a short space of time and Tech had been here for months. So, the very fact that he had even held out at all was something to admire. âDonât worry about that.â Echo reassured him. âAll that matters is that youâre alive.â
Tech gave him a grateful bow of his head before he straightened his spine. âI see that I am not the only one with a new look.â He commented lightly, gesturing to his brace and Echoâs mechanical hand.
Echo allowed himself a short chuckle, âYeah, well, the situation called for it.â
Tech nodded in understanding before he scanned the group of clones around them all. âBut where are the others?â Tech asked, fully realising that amongst these newly freed clones, there were four faces that were missing. And the worry that flashed across Echoâs face did nothing to ease his own anxieties.
Giving Techâs shoulder one final squeeze, he spoke to the rest of the clones surrounding them. âThe rest of our squad were grabbed by Hemlockâs operatives. Where else would he take them?â
âWell, they could be in the training room. Itâs where Hemlock conditions the clones he deems useful.â
âI think I know where that is.â Omega said, grabbing the datapad. âFollow me.â
âAre you joking?â Rampart shoved past Echo. âThe wisest course of action is to leave while we can.â
Echo glared at the man. âClones donât leave our brothers behind. And Hemlockâs also got someone who is just as important to us as any other clone.â He moved Rampart out the way and kept his speech for his fellow clones. âListen, I know youâve all been through enough. You deserve your freedom. But Omega and I canât do this alone. Is anyone willing to stand with us?â
The clone that spoke to Omega spoke first, âI will. Iâve got one more fight left in me.â
That spurred others on. Soon more rallying shouts were declared throughout the group.
âGood.â Echo said appreciatively. Then he turned to Tech and took a reluctant breath, âTechâŠâ
Tech recognised that look but hearing that the rest of you were in danger had his loyal and protective instincts as a member of this squad come rushing back to him. âI want to go with you.â Tech insisted. âThey need our help.â
âYouâre not 100%. We lost you once, itâs not happening again.â Echo said firmly. âGet the injured to the hangar and secure a shuttle. You can help them there.â He gave Tech a spare blaster. âWeâll see you soon.â
âVery well.â Tech said with a heavy sigh. Deep down, he knew that his current situation made him more of a liability for such a high stakes mission. He needed to recover properly and get back to form and he could start by helping the rest of these clones. Â
Echo put his helmet on once more. âIâll trigger an alert in a different wing and reroute their troops. The rest of you, grab any weapon you can.â
Tech led the way with the injured, hoping that this would all come to a better conclusion that Eriadu had.
Before Omega left with Echo and the rest of their team, Nala Seâs voice stopped her.
âOmega, I must not allow my science to remain in the Empireâs hands.â She knelt down and placed a large hand on Omegaâs shoulder. âThe only way you will be free is if Hemlock is gone and the databanks are destroyed.â
âThen letâs get to the lab.â Omega said determinedly.
âNo. Your place is with them.â Nala Se nodded to the clones.
Omega dipped her head in both a farewell and in understanding. âYouâll need this.â She gave Nala Se the datapad and watched her walk away before she joined up with Echo and left the cells.
Rampart watched the scientist go, a fresh plan of his own forming in his head as he made to follow her.
--
Hemlock walked back to the training room, working on dampening his simmering anger and irritation. The conversation with Tarkin had not been a productive one and now he was faced with having to deal with the lousy Imperial face-to-face.
He had it under control. Tarkin would just be another nuisance he had to deal with.
--
âThe training floorâs two more corridors over.â Omega said to Echo as they eliminated the guards by the hall terminal.
Echo used his scomp to bring up schematics. âThe pneumatic tube system runs throughout this base. Think you can use it to get eyes inside that room?â He opened a panel in the walls.
âIt worked in the vault.â Omega ran over to the gap and crawled into the narrow space.
âRelay what you see, but stay out of sight until weâre in position.â Echo ordered before she disappeared. He handed her a comm.
âRodger that.â
--
Nala Se had taken a grenade from a downed trooper as she made for the lab. She had accepted what her course of action would lead her to.
Covertly following her, Rampart grabbed a blaster from another body.
--
Nala Se entered the lab but just as she finished bringing up the databank and blood samples, a blaster clicked behind her, and she was staring down an unhappy looking Admiral Rampart. She activated the bomb behind her back, no one was going to stop her from doing what needed to be done. And if she took this Imperial down with her⊠well, that was an added bonus.
--
Omega peered out into the room from behind the ceiling grate. All was quiet. You were standing up, your hands in binders with an operative holding on tight to your shoulders, whilst the others were knocked out and in some type of capsule prison. âEcho, I have a visual on them. Thereâs an operative on guard but I donât see the others.â She whispered into her comm. âI might be able to free them if you give me a big enough distraction.â
âWeâre on our way.â
--
Echo and his group of clones entered the training room but as soon as they entered, the lights dimmed, the floor lit up in a harsh red light and parts of the floor rose up to form obstacles. They were ambushed by the other operatives in seconds.
--
You couldnât understand why the operative holding you suddenly let you go to activate the downstairs area, but the sounds of blaster fire soon told you why.
You hoped Echoâs plan was going to work.
--
Omega managed to sneak into the room without incident. She caught your eyeline and motioned for you to be quiet as she went over to the main control box. She worked on Wreckerâs first, and she succeeded in removing one of the wrist cuffs. Before she could work on anything else, she felt eyes on her and she let out a fearful gasp as she saw the operative staring at her.
You acted quickly. You ran in front of the operative and saw your lightsaber attached to your belt. You lunged for it but with your hands bound, you were limited in what you could offer and a powerful kick to your chest sent you tumbling to the floor. Winded and gasping for air, you could only watch as Omegaâs stun blasts did nothing to stop the advance of the soldier and he took a hold of her arm and dragged her into the centre of the room. You got to your feet just as Hemlock entered the room with the operative from Pabu.
âA glaring weakness in clones is their loyalty to one another.â Hemlock said to the young girl. âThank you for proving my point.â Then Hemlock beckoned you over to him as you both walked towards the window.
âNow that youâve joined our ranks, perhaps it is time to see what sort of matters you will have to deal with.â Hemlock said to you. He wouldnât free you yet, not until he knew for certain that this matter was officially over and dealt with. Your attachment for the clones remained and therefore the margin for error was still too great so for now, you remained in cuffs and his prisoner.
You forced yourself to ignore Omegaâs shocked gasp as she heard that.
âShall we see if they fare better than you did?â Hemlock allowed the firefight to continue for a couple minutes before he pressed the buttons that would introduce his special toxin into the room.
You could only watch on in horror as the clones without helmets started to cough and choke whilst they desperately clutched at their throats before they collapsed to the ground.
âPerhaps an unfair comparison given that I didnât use this for you but alas, sometimes such things are necessary. You will find that often the most pain gets the quickest results, but with your skills, you will make quick work of things, I am sure.â
âYou joined him?â Omega said in dismay.
âI had to.â You croaked, your throat closing up as everything you loved fell apart around you.
--
Having entertained Rampart and his delusions of Imperial redemption for long enough, Nala Se didnât fear the blaster bolt that entered her chest and as the light faded from her eyes, she took comfort in the fact that this final act of hers would bring peace to Omegaâs life.
Rampart heard the rapid beeping of the grenade that rolled free from her hand as she fell, but before he could do anything, his life left him in a flash of blinding white light.
--
Having been the only one with the safety of a helmet to resist the gas, Echo was on his own against the three operatives.
He staggered forward as a knife entered the back of his shoulder. His blaster was knocked out his grasp, so he used his mechanical hand to defend against the swings of the sword from the operative that had cut him, and he succeeded in throwing the black-armoured clone against one of the walls, so his helmet came off and he too feel victim to the gas.
However, Echo didnât have long to recover before he was knocked to the ground but just as he reached for his blaster, it was kicked away, and he glanced up to see another operative pointing a blaster at his head.
--
Hemlock kept his sights on the scene below. âTheir efforts have failed.â Hemlock stated. âPredictably so.â
You were shoved back to stand in the middle of the room with Omega.
Omega glanced at you, but your face was a blank slate. Your posture was slumped and heavy with defeat. You had no fire, no fight in you.
âSir, thereâs been an explosion in the central lab. Itâs been destroyed.â Scorch revealed as he entered the training room.
This news snapped you out of your fatigued and defeated state. Hemlock wasnât untouchable and he knew it. You remembered the nervousness youâd picked up on when heâd first told you they were coming to the base, and you saw the way his body tensed after Scorchâs words. For all his victories and apparent calmness, he knew you were the people that could get to him which was why heâd done everything he could think of to tear you apart. The thoughts sent a surge of strength and resolve through you. What the fuck were you doing? This was your team, your squad, your family. Youâd all never stop fighting for each other so why had you? Youâd given up so easily and that wasnât who you were, how could you have lost sight of that? You glanced over to Omega and nodded.
Omega felt hope rise in her chest as she saw the familiar spark and determination in your eyes. She then stole a look behind her to see Wrecker slowly waking up. âYou failed too.â She said smugly to Hemlock. âYour dataâs gone.â And she wasnât just talking about the samples, she knew Tech was safe too.
Hemlock whipped his head around to face the two of you. He had what he needed; he could start again. âBut I still have you both.â
Picking up on Wreckerâs movements too, you got ready to fight once more. âHey, Hemlock?â You waited until his eyes arrived on you. âGo to hell.â
Hemlock glowered at you but before he could do anything more, Omega spoke once more.
âAnd youâre forgetting one thing. We have them.â Omega said proudly.
Chaos erupted.
Wrecker ripped himself free of his capsule and used the portion covering his legs as a shield against the blaster fire before he launched it towards the operatives, the impact of the piece of metal against one of the control towers took down the entire system in the process.
Crosshair and Hunter groggily woke up their confinement also loosened.
Wrecker shakily got to his feet and pushed against the electrospear that the operative shoved towards his chest. He ignored the pain of the electrical current and kept his focus entirely on meeting the soldier strength for strength.
You dashed over to Hunter and rested your bound hands just beside his head âMy love, I need you to stand for me.â You murmured with urgency. You placed your hands under his neck and then moved them gently still to his upper back to support him.
Hunter strained to open his eyes as he took in your still slightly blurry form, but he never failed to recognise you or your voice. He nodded and inhaled sharply as he slowly rose with your encouragement.
Whilst you did that, Omega made a break for a loose blaster, but Scorch grabbed her. She struggled against him, but she was forced to stop as Hemlock paired them together with a set of cuffs.
âWeâre leaving. Get the Jedi.â Hemlock said to Scorch, passing him a hypodermic with a sedative inside it. He then snatched a blaster from CX-2 as well as the set of controls he kept on his sleeve for his ship. âDeal with them.â He directed the operative before he dragged Omega out,
Scorch came over with as he saw you attempting to aid the clone sergeant to his feet. He speedily stabbed the needle into your thigh and pressed down on the plunger.
You reacted swiftly and slapped his hand away before you landed a kick to his gut, but you felt the broken skin and as you removed the needle from your leg, you saw that the tip of it was wet, and you knew that you hadnât been fast enough. Some of it had entered your system. A wooziness overcame you and you swayed on your feet as you fought against it.
Scorch recovered from the blow you dealt him and as he saw the unsteady way you stood as well as the lack of clarity behind your eyes, he knew he had done enough to get you compliant. He grabbed your wrist and forced you out of the room as he hurried to catch up with Hemlock.
--
Seeing that Hemlock was escaping with you both, Wrecker thrust the spear above him and kicked the operative back.
Hunter wearily worked on standing up straight and finding the strength to go after you and Omega.
âGet them back.â Wrecker said to Hunter before he let out a roar and charged at the operative heâd been fighting. He tackled his waist and smashed through the cracked window.
--
The gas dissipated and Echo glanced up to see the glass of one of the windows had cracked and there were flashes blaster fire. Whatever was happening above him was the disruption he needed.
And that distraction developed as Wrecker came crashing through the window.
In the mayhem, Echo was able to divert the blaster pointed at his head to the second operative standing behind him and take cover. Even with one operative dead, he was still outnumbered but two more rounds fired past him to disband the operative forces. Echo turned and saw that Wrecker- despite being flat on the ground- had been the one to fire the shots but he was still in danger. Echo fired a series of shots to the operative that Wrecker had forced out of the window and that operative also fell dead to the ground.
But Echo couldnât ease up. Another operative had recovered from the disruption and attacked them again. Echo opened fire back as he took cover behind one of the obstacles.
Wrecker was slower to react. The shot he took to the inside of his leg as he rolled for shelter was yet another painful sign of how out of it he was. But he needed to get it together, Echo still needed him, and he wasnât going to let his brother down.
Echo carefully moved around the room. He knew there were two operatives remaining and they made themselves know quickly. Now that the danger of the gas was gone, he had removed his helmet to aid in his breathing but as he walked around the side of one of the wall obstacles, a wave of blaster fire was sent in his direction, and he quickly pressed himself back against the wall. He searched for another way to somehow get behind the operative who had fired on him but as he did so, he felt a threat approaching his own back. As he turned, he saw the operative with the vibroblade weapons lunge for him and his blaster wasnât primed to take the shot to stop it.
With a loud shout, Wrecker got to his feet and picked the operative up by the neck and smashed his head through one of the walls. That took up the last of his energy, his legs gave out and he fell to the ground with a deep groan.
Seeing his brother go down so heavily alarmed Echo deeply which was why he wasnât the one to kill the final operative that had emerged. No, those shots came from one of the clones who had rallied by his side for this fight. He gave him a grateful nod before he knelt by Wreckerâs side. The clone could barely keep his eyes open, and he was breathing in short, sharp pants, his pain was obvious. âWrecker, where are the others?â Echo asked as he looked on worriedly as his brother.
âTheyâve- theyâve gone after-â Wrecker broke off with a low groan and couldnât finish the thought. He was too exhausted and sore to focus on anything other than staying awake.
Echo put it together. âI can help you get there but I need you to get to your feet.â Echo urged as insistent but as caringly as possible, but Wrecker made no move to stand. âCome on, Wrecker, you can do it.â He thought of the first thing he could think of to get him there. âTechâs alive. Heâs waiting at the shuttle.â
âIf thatâs supposed to cheer me up, itâs a bad way to do it.â Wrecker managed to grunt.
âIâm serious. Omega found him.â
Wrecker glanced at Echo and a brief rush of adrenaline hit him as he saw the serious and honest look on Echoâs face.
âItâs true. I saw him.â The other clone added as he came over to offer his help.
Wrecker allowed himself to believe that because it was now the only thing giving him the strength to even think about getting up. With a determined moan, he got to his feet.
Echo, along with the other clone, supported Wrecker as they all made their way to the shuttle.
--
Hunter had managed to stand and grab the spear that the operative had left behind, but everything was still blurring together in one dark and incoherent shape. He couldnât fully tell one sense apart from the other, everything was too sore and disjointed.
But he knew there was still an operative up here and he had to focus on finding him.
Crosshair was also beginning to get to his feet and as he saw CX-2 creep next to his pod and aim his blaster at Hunter, Crosshair kicked his arm which caused the shot to go array.
Tracking the sound, Hunter threw the spear in the direction it had come from and heard the sharp blade meeting itâs target as CX-2 was speared in the gut and the power behind Hunterâs through saw doubly sure that he was dead as he was flung back into the power grid and electrocuted.
Hunter grabbed the fallen rifle and spoke to Crosshair through gritted teeth, âIâll go get them. You should stay here.â
âNot a chance.â Crosshair grunted as he properly got to his feet.
Hunter picked up a second blaster and handed Crosshair the sniper rifle.
Supporting each other, the two of them hobbled out the room to go catch up with you and Omega.
--
The night air was cold as a storm raged on.
Thunder rumbled above you.
Lightening flashed through the black clouds.
The pouring rain pelted against your skin.
The wind whipped across your face.
But as unpleasant as it was, it did help get you out of your sedative state. You just had to wait for the right moment and so long as Scorch had a blaster pressed to your back and Omega was cuffed and attached to Hemlock, it wasnât the right moment, so you pretended to still be as compliant as you had been when being led through the corridors out of the training room.
Hemlock led the way across the exposed and narrow walkway towards the landing platform. He was almost there. He could rebuild once he got away. He ignored the girlâs struggles and protests as he dragged her further along and pressed the button on the control sleeve that would bring the ship to them. Just as the ship was preparing to land, two blaster bolts hit the right and left engines and the ship erupted into flames.
You used as your moment to take care of Scorch. You smacked the back of your head into his visor and turned on your heels to grab his blaster.
In the push and shove struggle, both of you teetered towards the edge of the bridge. One particularly nasty shove from Scorch saw to it that you fell over the top, but you still had a hold of his blaster, so he toppled over with you.
You just about managed to take a scrappy hold of the one of the bars that formed the boundary of the walkway, Scorch fell past you into the abyss below. The metal was slick against your fingers and being cuffed wasnât making holding on any easier, your grip was haphazard at best. Which was why you werenât surprised that you couldnât keep a secure hold and you slipped downwards, your fingers catching the edge of the platform.
You saw the scene unfolding across from you and you wished there was more you could do to help but all you could do now was fight to keep your head up as your legs dangled aimlessly. You called on every piece of strength you had to hold on and wait this out.
--
Hemlock thrust Omega in front of him and wrapped his arm around her neck as he held the blaster to her head. You were out of the picture for now, his main adversaries remained further down the bridge. âThatâs far enough!â He threatened as he saw the clones
Hunter shook the rain from his eyes as he and Crosshair paused to figure out the next best course of action. He had to trust that you would hold on for long enough. Right now, his priority was Omega. He knelt down and kept his blaster trained on Hemlock.
Crosshair did the same, only he rested his rife on Hunterâs shoulder as he peered down his scope.
The two of them synchronised their breathing as the storm echoed around them but that didnât distract them. Their entire focus was on the two people down the walkway.
âYou wonât get past them.â Omega said, no fear in her voice.
âThey wonât risk hurting you.â Hemlock said through heavy breaths. âAnd itâs not only you they have to consider.â
âNeither will you. You need me alive.â Omega countered. âAnd sheâs a lot stronger than you think.â She said, knowing that no matter what, you would be fine.
Hemlock brought her to the edge of the bridge opposite to where you were hanging. âIf I go over, then you go over.â He then bellowed down to the clones, âDrop the blasters!â
But Omega wasnât going to entertain that outcome. Hemlockâs arrogance would be his downfall. She reached into her sleeve and grabbed the tool she had stolen from Emerieâs supply kit.
--
Hunter saw what Omega was doing and understood her plan. âShoot the binders.â He told Crosshair.
âI- I- I canât.â Crosshair stammered. He had rarely practiced with his left hand as the trigger hand and these conditions were less than ideal to make such a precise shot. âTheyâre too close. If Iâm off- I canât risk Omega.â
âShe knows what to do, Crosshair.â Hunter said. He trusted Omega and he trusted Crosshair. He had all the confidence that his brother could make the shot. âWait for her, then take the shot.â
Crosshair let that faith and his own desire to rescue Omega guide him as he rested his finger on the trigger. He could do this. He knew he could. He inhaled and exhaled steadily as he waited on her.
--
Omega stabbed her implement into Hemlockâs thigh and used his surprise to step away from him and she raised their cuffed hands in the air.
When Crosshairâs shot met itâs mark and separated them, she crouched down as she heard six shots hit Hemlockâs chest and she watched his body fall over the side.
--
Releasing a thankful sigh, you braced yourself on your forearms as you worked on hauling yourself back up. You felt a supportive hand tug at your arm and angled your gaze to see Omega doing her best to help you back onto the bridge.
Once safely situated and cuff free thanks to Omegaâs tool, you stayed propped on your knees and braced your hands on your thighs as you caught your breath and looked at the young girl and all it took was that glance from you. She crashed into you, and you squeezed her close. âAre you alright?â
Omega squeezed you back and nodded into your neck. âYeah⊠Iâm okay.â She said through an exhausted but relieved sigh. âAre you?â
âYeah, kid, Iâm okay.â You said, your throat tightening as you realised what was about to happen next. It had been the thing that had gotten you through every night since arriving here. And it had been the thing you had so nearly given up and lost.
You both pulled apart at the same time.
You got to your feet and followed her gaze towards the two men still kneeling further down the bridge. You didnât need to check with her, you both started running together.
Naturally, you reached them just before Omega did and you didnât really slow down in your approach.
With adrenaline overpowering your own lingering pain and tiredness, you- getting caught up in the excitement of seeing Hunter again- foolishly forgot about his injuries and all but launched yourself at him. You collided against his chest with a happy cry and flung your arms around him and pulled him close to you.
âOw ow ow.â Hunter mumbled with a sharp wince as he braced himself against your strength, but he couldnât help himself, he clung to you just as tightly.
âShit, Iâm sorry. Iâm so sorry.â Your words were muffled from where you pressed your face in the crook of his neck. You went to pull away instead, but he wasnât letting you yet, in fact he readjusted his hold to keep you right where you were.
Hunter breathed you in and let himself get lost in the feeling of holding you and feeling you against him. The familiar shape and scent of your body providing him the comfort and security he needed to alleviate part of the pain he was feeling with his senses. He nuzzled into your neck and used one hand to cradle the back of your head whilst his other arm still kept you tight to him.
The two of you held onto each other like you were terrified it was all a dream and you might be taken away again. The bridge was cold and wet against your legs but after all that had just happened, it hardly mattered now. The rain continued its deluge against your body, but you didnât care. All you cared about was this moment right here and now.
Only when his body did truly start to protest against the strain, did Hunter relax his arms.
You released your own arms and hid your face in your hands as the emotions of the time that had passed hit you all at once. Sobs mixed with laughter left your throat and racked through your body as you realised that he was safe. That Omega was safe. That they all were safe.
Hunter gently took your hands away and carefully held your bruised face. He used his thumbs to softly wipe some of the rain and tears running down your cheeks. He brushed some wet strands of hair tenderly away from your face before murmuring, âI love you.â A kiss to your forehead. âI love you,â A kiss to your cheek. âI love you,â A kiss to your other cheek.
You stared into his brown eyes as you got yourself under control and they grounded you so completely as you saw the feeling behind them. âI love you too.â You gasped breathlessly. You threaded your fingers in his damp strands and-more mindful of his injuries- leaned forward.
Hunter went to close the gap but the sound of someone managing a strained but somehow still very pointed cough caused you both to stop and you turned your head to see Crosshair and Omega waiting expectantly.
âWhat? No hugs for us?â Crosshair said with a light-hearted, albeit pained, smile at the two of you.
You huffed out a chuckle and together, you and Hunter slid into their embrace, and you all wrapped your arms around one another. You shared in that moment until Omega decided to break away.
You all got to your feet, but you noticed how unsteady both Crosshair and Hunter were.
With Omega looking out for Crosshair, you focused your attention on Hunter. âLean on me.â You instructed him as you placed his arm around you, and you took on his weight as you all made your way to the transport hangar.
--
You all reached the shuttle and slowly walked up the ramp but the person you saw tending to Wreckerâs wounds had you all forgetting any remaining aches and pains.
All three of you inhaled sharply and stopped short. You shared a look to make sure you were all in agreement with what- or rather-who you were seeing.
âYeah, youâre not seeing things.â Wrecker told you all with a cheery disposition.
Echo had a small yet delighted grin on his face as he took in the stunned yet happy reactions from all of you.
âOh⊠did I not mention that?â Omega kidded, a joyous smile on her own face.
âTech?â Crosshair all but whispered.
âYouâre alive?â You and Hunter said together, emotion overwhelming both of you as you spoke. Â
âYou sound surprised.â Tech said with a small smile. What did catch him by surprise though was the way he was dragged into a large group hug with all six of you.
And as the shuttle took off and you all had that minute together, you were hit with a remarkable sense of home.
--
The shuttle landed in Pabu and the rescued clones steadily departed the shuttle first.
Echo, Omega and Wrecker were the first of you all to leave with Echo wanting to check on Emerie and Omega wanting to check on her friends from the vault.
Tech made to go too but hesitated as he caught the attention of a familiar face.
Pheeâs eyes widened. She walked up the ramp and took in the messy yet totally recognisable man in front of her. âWell, brown eyes, itâs about damn time.â
Tech made to adjust his non-existent goggles but caught himself. âI was- uh- rather occupied for a while.â
Phee raised her chin and smiled. She came up the ramp and linked arms with the clone. âNow your survival is an adventure I want to hear all about.â
You couldâve sworn you saw the faintness of blushes on Techâs cheeks.
âWell, it involved a grappling hook and some pretty fast thinking. I was fallingâŠâ
You, Hunter and Crosshair watched them walk away and you caught the completely astonished expression on Crosshairâs face. It was possible he was more taken aback by that than by seeing Tech come back from the dead.
âI have a question.â Crosshair asked as he stared at the fading figures.
âWhatâs that?â You said, pretending to have no idea as to why he looked so bewildered. You welcomed Hunterâs arm that looped around your waist and the look he gave you told you that he was willing to play along.
âWe just spent the duration of that journey getting medical attention and catching Tech up on everything that had happened since you all ignored Plan 88, right?â
âRight.â Hunter agreed, ignoring the playful jab.
âAnd I was on Pabu and with you all a good while before everything went to shit.â Crosshair said.
âUh huh.â You concurred, a slightly teasing smile on your face as you waited for him to get to the point of his question.
âSo, please explain to me why no one thought to tell me about that.â He pointed with his left hand towards Tech and Phee. âSince when did Tech get- I mean how- just what exactly is that?â
âOh⊠that.â You feigned a sudden realisation. âHuh, I guess they did get pretty close whilst we were staying here. How many dates was it before we had to leave, Hunter?â
Hunter matched your teasing tone. âYeah, I donât know. At least three or four- not that Tech truly realised thatâs what they were. We really didnât tell you?â He asked Crosshair, a smirk on his face.
âYou two are impossible.â Crosshair groused before he walked down the ramp, muttering under his breath.
You laughed quietly as you watched him leave.
Hunter let out a low chuckle too as he brought you in closer to his side and he pressed his lips to the top of your head before you both walked out the ship.
--
Emerie observed the children from afar and was pleased to see them chasing the animals of the island and interacting with the Omega and the other young clones. âTheyâve adapted quickly.â She said as Echo approached her side.
âKids are resilient.â
âA childhoodâs not something we ever had. Our lives have never been our own.â
âUntil now. Iâm heading to Pantora to help get some of the clones settled. Iâm sure Senator Chuchi would find whatever you have to say very helpful for our cause.â
âI have a lot to make up for. Iâd like to help out however I can.â
Echo rested a hand on her shoulder before he made for the shuttle once more.
Emerie followed a few paces behind.
--
As you and Hunter were making your way from the shuttle, Omega called out your name.
You paused and turned to see she had brought a group of kids over with her.
âThese were the children I was telling you about. This is Eva, Jax, Sami and Bayrn.â She introduced each child in kind before she introduced you and said to them, âAnd this is my friend I told you about.â
âHello.â You said warmly as they looked at you, both with curiosity and nervousness.
âI um, I filled them in on everything. I hope thatâs okay.â
You nodded. âYou contact Rex, Iâll catch up.â You said to Hunter whilst Omega went to go find Batcher. You crouched down in front of the remaining children. âOmega told me a lot about you too. I hear you all helped with her escape plan, thatâs pretty impressive.â You said sincerely, keeping your voice tender and kind.
âOmega was the one that led it. It was all her. We didnât do too much.â Jax said.
âA team is only as good as everyone in it. You all had a part to play, and you did it well.â You cleared your throat as you readied yourself for the next part. âNow, I know Omega has told you that Iâm a Jedi, and did she tell you what that means?â
All of them nodded.
âOkay, thatâs good. And I have to ask, have any of you ever like an object moved without you touching it, or you were somehow able to jump higher than you expected?â
You knew Baryn couldnât really understand and wasnât paying much attention as he babbled away in Samiâs arms, but you figured he was there for the same reasons as the rest of them nodded again.
âWeâre going to look out for you whilst we work on getting you back to your families, but life will always be a bit different for you now, and youâll still have to be careful. But I can teach you some things whilst youâre still here that should help and once youâre home, if you or your parents have any more questions, youâre welcome to come back.â You offered, smiling at them as they nodded. âAlright, thatâs all from the grown up for today. Carry on exploring.â You said fondly before you stood up and went to rejoin Hunter and Omega
--
You, Hunter and Omega had taken up position by the weeping maya tree with Batcher lying by Omegaâs side. You all watched as the clones walked around freely and the children from the vault got to enjoy being kids once more and it was a delightful sight to take in.
âWith Hemlock gone and his data destroyed, theyâre finally safe.â Omega said with relief.
âMm-hmm.â Hunter agreed and released a relieved sigh of his own as the impact of that statement properly hit him. âAnd so are both of you.â
âWill it take long to find their families?â
âRex and I are working on it, but weâll look after them until then.â
âAnd that brings the adoptive parent tally up to eight- nine including Gungi.â You kidded affectionately before you laid down next to Hunter and rested your head in his lap.
âLike you didnât just offer them that exact thing whilst I was speaking to him.â Hunter retorted playfully as he brushed the backs of his fingers across your cheek.
You stuck your tongue out at him before the sound of the shuttle powering up grabbed all of your attention. You raised your head and saw Echo getting ready to depart with some of the clones that wanted to continue the fight. All four of you dipped your heads and smiled in farewell.
âWhat about the rest of the clones?â Omega asked as she watched the shuttle leave. âWill they stay here on Pabu?â
âWell, itâs up to them. Theyâre free to follow their own path.â Hunter exhaled tiredly but kept his voice light as he said, âWeâve all fought enough battles for one lifetime. Now we get to choose who we want to be.â
âLike what?â Omega asked.
You smiled at Hunter and placed your head back down in his lap. You closed your eyes and let the sunâs warmth seep into your skin.
âWhatever we want, kid.â The girl leaned against his arm and his voice and face softened at the action, âWhatever we want.â
Then, as the Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair came to sit down with the three of you, Hunter stared down at your utterly content form and stroked a hand past your brow and through your hair.
He had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to be next.

Kyleâs eyes immediately dart back to meet Johnâs gaze. The word coming from your lips has shocked him, startled him even. You hadnât said much during your first heat, reduced mostly to unintelligible mumbling when you were aware enough to look around with that hazy gleam in your eyes. Here, but not aware. Now your eyes are clear, staring up at him intently as you cling to his wrist. He canât help but wonder if youâll remember this, or if itâll stay lost in the haze.Â
John stares back at him, his gaze focused but Kyle knows him well enough to tell heâs just as surprised. Heâs still drinking the electrolyte drink, his throat bobbing slowly with every swallow. Kyle knows heâs doing it so he wonât have to answer right away, assessing the situation in the moment of clarity from his rut. Heâs still wrapped around you, still locked inside you.Â
The moment seems to last an hour, the tension between the three of you palpable. The anticipation from Kyle, waiting to see what John will say, the intense desire from you to pull him onto the bed, and Johnâs uncertainty as to how to proceed. It's not uncommon for betas to join during heats, it's not even that uncommon for betas to be the ones helping during heats. The pups of a beta and omega pairing do exist after all.Â
Kyle's eyes haven't left John's, even as you mouth at his wrist, tongue laving over the sensitive skin, teeth gently scraping like you're trying to devour him. He can't help the stirring in his pants from the heavy scents in the air, the sounds that had been coming from the room less than 20 minutes ago still ringing loud in his ears.Â
John pulls the now empty bottle from his lips, taking the time to screw the cap back on. Kyle holds his hand out automatically, ready to take it like he could escape your tight grip to toss it into the garbage with the others. He debates throwing it into the garbage from where he's standing, but the loud nose might startle you, which might make John get defensive.Â
Instead he lets it drop to the floor. He'll pick it up later.Â
John continues to stare at him, holding his gaze. There's sweat beading on Kyle's back as he waits for what's coming next, what John's decision will be. He has no reason to be nervous. The fact he's in this room, so close to them speaks volumes of trust John has, the safety he feels letting Kyle around his omega in such a vulnerable position.Â
âShe wants you.â John finally says, leaving it open to Kyle. It's not an order, it's not a hesitant decision left open for you to make, it's not even a direct question. It's an opportunity, an opportunity for Kyle to make the final decision. You've already decided, and in presenting this opportunity, so has John.Â
Kyle takes half a step back, a whine leaving your lips but you let him go. Your whine cuts through him, desperate and needy and almost sad. It hurts him, only aiding his decision.Â
He kicks off his shoes, stripping out of his shirt and pants. He debates leaving his boxers on, but he already knows what's going to happen, what the endgame of this will be. Itâll be one less obstacle for all three of you.Â
Your eyes are intense as you stare at him, lips parted as your eyes zero in on his half-hard cock. Kyle approaches the bed again, the sweet scent of omega in heat thickening in the air. You reach out for him again, but not for his wrist.Â
John folds your arms against your chest, shifting the two of you backwards to make room. âNot yet,â he murmurs in your ear. âLet him get settled in.â
Kyle stares down at where the two of you are still connected, your pussy gaping wide around Johnâs knot. He swallows thickly, his cock twitching to life. Heâs careful as he climbs on the bed, not wanting to cause you to shift on John's knot. He lays down face to face with you, a content smile tugging at your lips. The haze is returning, your eyes getting glassy as you tug Kyle closer.
He's not expecting it as you kiss him, wet and sloppy as your tongue traces his lips. Kyle shifts himself closer, his hand settling on your hip as he kisses you back, your mouth wet and hot as his tongue slips inside, dragging against yours.Â
His hand slowly trails down your hip, fingers gliding across your still warm skin. You moan against his lips as his fingers follow the dip of your hip down closer to your mound. He can feel where John's knot begins, bulging in your pelvis right above your slit. Kyle lets a finger brush your clit and he can feel the way you spasm around Johnâs knot. John lets out a groan as you tighten around him.Â
You pull away from his lips with a whine, pressing your face into his neck. Kyle leans up on his elbow, giving you more skin to explore as his fingers trail lower, brushing around your puffy lips to the base of John's cock, the small bit that still sticks out of you. He runs his fingers over the red, almost pulsing skin. John lets out another groan, his hips grinding against your ass. It tugs at the knot inside you, causing you to let out a breathy moan that blows hot against the wet spot youâve made on his neck. Goosebumps form on his skin as he brushes the underside of John's cock, the alpha pushing his hips against yours again.Â
Kyle pulls his hand away as pain erupts in the dip where his neck meets his shoulder. âOw-fuck!â He hisses, jerking away as John sinks his hand into your hair with the arm that's under you, forcing your head back.Â
Kyle rubs the sore spot on his neck as John chuckles, leaning his head against yours. âShe's in a biting mood this time.â He rasps, a satisfied grin pulling at your lips, still shiny with a mix of yours and Kyleâs spit. âGot me at the start, naughty little thing.â
John grinds his hips against you again, your eyes nearly rolling back as you meet his movements, grinding back against him. Kyle can see it, the change beginning to happen. The haze is settling back in, the moment of clarity gone. It's been almost just over a half hour. It can take between 30 minutes to an hour for an alpha's knot to deflate.Â
âShe's so sensitive.â John continues, his lips brushing your cheek. âCan make her cum so easily.âÂ
John's other hand wraps around you, pushing against the bulge in your pelvis. You let out a high pitched whine, your body shaking as you cum around his knot just like that. John curses, eyes squeezing closed as he presses his face against the side of your head. His cock is twitching, his knot tugging on your pussy but you don't seem to care.Â
âFuck...â John groans, the sound long and dragged out as his hand leaves your pelvis, sinking into the sheets in front of you.Â
Kyle sits all the way up, watching curiously as John's cock continues to spasm. Quiet growls leave his lips as his cock begins to soften. His knot is getting smaller and smaller, deflating and releasing its hold on you. John lifts your top leg up over his hips before pulling his cock free. A gush of slick and cum is forced out of you as your walls spasm, slowly relaxing after being forced open for so long.Â
Kyle can't help himself as he reaches out, gathering some of the viscous cocktail that's gathered on your thigh. It's almost slimy as it coats his fingers, your slick wetter than your normal arousal. Not quite as sticky. John's cum has thickened it, tainting it a milky white color.Â
âBeautiful, isn't it?â John smirks, watching Kyle rub the mix of their fluids between his fingers. âGive her a minute, she'll be gushing slick again and you can get a taste.â
He's right, you've begun to tremble, the skin of your thigh starting to warm even more where his leg is pressed against yours. Your pussy is fluttering still, pushing the rest of John's cum out.
Kyle can't help himself again as he gathers more of your release on his fingers, pushing it back inside you. You're tight around his fingers despite the fact you had just taken your alphaâs knot. You squeeze around him, slick gushing around his fingers. It coats his hand, warm and wet. He pulls his fingers from you, watching your pussy spasm as more slick seeps out of you, coating your folds and dripping onto the skin of your thigh. Your scent has thickened in the air, making his mouth water. It's going to his head, making his cock throb.Â
He can understand now why alphas will fight over an omega in heat.Â
John moves, shifting both of you on the bed until his back rests against your headboard, your body between his legs. He grips you behind your knees, pulling your legs up until you're damn near folded in half. You don't seem to care, panting as sweat begins to bead on your skin. You've gone almost limp, pliable and willing so long as the ache in your core gets relieved.Â
John's eyes are dark as he stares at Kyle, his fingers digging into your skin. âWell?â He smirks. âAre you going to give her what she wants?âÂ
Kyle's eyes drift between your legs, your pussy spread open before him like a buffet. Itâs not a new sight. Heâs been between your thighs many times, tasted you on his tongue. Yet it feels different now, because it is different. The situation has changed. Heâs not fucking you because youâve come to him, sought him out to relieve the ache between your legs, the neediness thatâs built up the whole day. Youâre still needy, still begging, but itâs because you have to. Your body needs to be filled, needs to have an alphaâs knot to ease the ache. Your body wants pups, and so itâs forcing you to the peak of attraction to an alpha. Pheromones thick in the air to drive alphas into their most base state, slick coating your thighs to ease the taking of a knot.Â
His eyes are glued to you as slick continues to seep out of you, sliding down your ass until it drips onto the sheet below. Heâs no alpha, but your pheromones are getting to him, fogging his own mind in need. Heâs felt it when he enters to clean, to ensure youâve eaten and hydrated, that nothing has gone wrong, but the feeling leaves as soon as heâs in the clear air in the hallway. He had thought it was simply the knowledge of what was happening, the sounds from the room and then seeing you and his alpha knotted together. Itâs a natural reaction to a beautiful omega naked in front of him.Â
He understands it now as his mouth goes dry, staring at your shiny pussy. Itâs his turn to experience it, his chance to understand firsthand what both you and John go through. He feels the urge to bend down, to taste you, to drink from the source like your slick is the only thing that will ease his thirst.Â
He bends down, laying flat on the bed so heâs face to face with your weeping slit. The room is silent, even your own panting breaths quiet, waiting in anticipation. He leans forward, pressing his face against your slit. He inhales deeply, his eyes almost fluttering as your pheromones go straight to his brain. They swirl around his synapses before shooting down his spine, seeping into his veins and warming his body. His cock is hard and leaking onto the mattress beneath him, throbbing for some relief. He won't give it any yet, wanting to wait until he at least gets a taste of you.Â
He drags his tongue through your folds, moaning at the sweet taste of you. There's still a hint of your natural taste under there, but the sweetness of your slick has him burying his face in your folds. He laps at the source, pressing his tongue into your pussy, drinking up your slick like a man starved. His nose presses against your clit, and he inhales the sweet scent of your slit with every breath. Your skin is hot, feverish as his hands slip under you, holding your hips up as he feasts on you desperately. He feels like he's in heat himself, or perhaps as close to a rut as a beta can get. His face is soaked, your slick dripping down his chin, adding to the mess both dry and still wet on the sheets.
You're panting and whining, pushing your hips up against his face desperately. He doesn't care. He'd drown here happily. His nose continues to brush your clit, making you whine all desperate and needy. His cock is throbbing, but he resists the urge to grind against the bed. Not yet.Â
âPlease, please!â You whine, pussy fluttering around his tongue. You are sensitive, nearly to the brink and he's barely touched you.Â
He presses harder against your clit, a loud moan falling from your lips as you cum around his tongue, sweet slick gushing into his face along with the familiar, tangy taste of your cum. He licks every last drop from your pussy, or at least as much as he can with how your slick is still seeping out of you endlessly.Â
He lifts himself up from your pussy, meeting John's gaze. John beckons him closer, gripping Kyle's chin as soon as he's within armâs distance and pulling him against his lips. Thereâs a low rumble in his chest, the sound shooting straight down Kyleâs spine. It makes him shudder, his cock twitching.Â
John licks into his mouth, tasting you on his tongue before licking your slick from his face. Kyle can't help but moan, his cock smearing precum against your thigh.Â
âYou want her?â John breathes against his lips. âYou want to feel her?â
Kyle breathes out a quiet moan, nodding. âYes, sir.âÂ
He backs up as John releases your legs, letting you flop onto the bed. He maneuvers out from behind you until you're laying flat on the bed, limp yet willing. You let out a whine, rubbing your thighs together for any sort of friction. He canât imagine youâre getting any, not with how slick your thighs and pussy are.Â
John moves off the bed, cock hanging hard and heavy between his thighs. âPresent for your beta.â John says, the alpha command strong in his voice as he slaps your ass lightly. âShow him how good of an omega you are.â
You let out a whine, flopping over and shuffling your legs under you. Kyle doesnât think youâll be able to do it, given your weak state, but you surprise him. Your upper body is still pressed into the mattress, but your hips lift, slick still drooling out of your pussy. Kyle is nearly drooling himself staring at your puffy lips and soaked skin.Â
He jumps as John's hand slaps his own ass cheek. âWell, give her what she wants.â His voice is rough, his alpha still slipping out around the edges.Â
Kyle moves forward almost automatically, obeying the command of his alpha. He shifts so he's kneeling behind you, fisting his cock. It's still hard and throbbing, precum dripping from the tip. He drags the head through your folds, slipping through easily thanks to the slick. Heâd understood the importance of slick before from his research for your first heat, but now heâs getting a firsthand demonstration.Â
His hand closes around your hip, holding you steady as he presses into you with a groan. Youâre so hot and wet and tight around him, your pussy fluttering around him like itâs trying to pull him in. Soft, breathy moans slip from your lips, your hands gripping the sheets tightly as he sinks into you completely with one press of his hips. He pauses in surprise as his hips press flush against your ass without even having to work you open. He supposes youâve been taking Johnâs not repeatedly, but yet youâre still just as tight around him as he remembers, if not tighter. He shifts forward slightly so his hips are flush with your ass, his eyes following a bead of sweat as it slides down the line of your spine. Itâs hot in the room, and youâre hot under his hands, skin burning with the flames of your desperation. He understands canât give you what you need, not completely, but he can give you a little relief.Â
He can feel Johnâs eyes on him as he begins to move, pulling back before sinking back into you. Your pussy seems to have a mind of its own as it flutters around him, letting him pull back before pulsing around him, pulling him back in. Heâs fucked you plenty of times, but itâs never felt like this. So slick and warm and responsive. Your body moves in accordance with his movements, pushing and pulling with every thrust of his cock in and out of you. It makes his head spin, his movements starting to pick up speed. Thereâs no resistance, his cock gliding in and out of your pussy easily.Â
âFuck...â He groans, clinging desperately to his sanity as he tries not to cum immediately. Youâre whimpering and whining under him, legs already shaking but he canât tell if it's from the effort of holding yourself up or from your pleasure.Â
Low growls rumble in Johnâs throat, the wet sound of him pumping his cock mixing with the wet squelch of your pussy. Itâs an obscene chorus, the harmony of moans and growls and the wet sounds of sex. Slick continues to drip out around his cock, smearing on his skin. Youâre pushing back weakly against him, moaning and drooling on the sheets. Youâre doing what omegas are supposed to do during heats, lay there and take your alphaâs knot over and over in hopes of being bred. You wonât be, you have protections against that, but your brain canât comprehend that right now. It canât comprehend much of anything in this state. Â
You squeeze tightly around him, trembling as youâre thrown into an orgasm. Your walls clench, gripping him like a vice, so tightly he almost canât move. Slick gushes out around his cock, soaking his pelvis, dripping down his thighs. The sensation is almost heavenly as you spasm around him, almost trying to pull him deeper, coax a knot out of him that he canât give you.Â
He starts to grind against you, his vision almost going dark as his own orgasm is forced out of him suddenly, his hands tightening around your hips. You whine as he holds you, hips probably sore from John, but he canât find it in him to care as he bends over your back, holding your ass flush with his hips. Heâs gasping for air, trembling himself from the shared sensation of your orgasm and his own.Â
Itâs almost too much.Â
Almost.Â
âYouâre not done.â John says, trailing a hand down Kyleâs spine, smearing the sweat thatâs broken out across his body. âGive her another.âÂ
Kyle canât disagree, canât even ask for a moment to gather his head as he begins moving again, your body sucking him in so tightly he can hardly do more than grind his hips against your ass. You donât seem to care, needy whines and moans slipping out of your lips.Â
Johnâs hand dips between Kyleâs thighs, collecting some of your slick before he presses his finger against Kyleâs hole. Kyle lets out a sound thatâs almost a whine of his own at the sensation.
âOpen up for me.â His alpha growls, nipping at the skin of his ass cheek. âBe a good boy.âÂ
Kyle nearly cums again, fighting to relax as he continues to fuck you. He bends over you further as John presses a slick covered finger into his ass, a deep groan leaving his throat. Youâre still laying there, eyes pinched closed in pleasure as you create a puddle of drool around your mouth. Whisps of hair stick to your face, falling out of the braid Johnny had done for you. He should redo it, keep it in place for the few days still left of your heat.Â
Heâs pulled from his thoughts when John grips his throat, pulling him back upright. Johnâs finger is still in his ass, moving with the thrusts of his hips. âGonna make her cum again?â John growls, licking Kyleâs lips. Their kiss is rough and sloppy, spit passing between them as they lick at each otherâs mouths.Â
Kyle groans as John pulls the finger from his ass, gathering more slick before pressing two back in. âShit,â He curses, his hips stuttering against your ass.Â
You cum around him again, legs nearly giving out. He clings to your hips, keeping you up. He understands why you carry such nasty looking bruises around your hips after your heat now. Itâs not just Johnâs iron grip, itâs to keep you steady.Â
âThatâs it.â John growls, fucking his fingers into Kyleâs ass, opening him up.Â
Kyleâs cock twitches in anticipation, his hips driving into your ass to hasten his own orgasm in excitement for whatâs coming next.Â
Kyleâs body does give out as his orgasm slams into him, his hands just barely managing to catch him before he falls into you. Your own body trembles, squeezing around him, milking every last drop. Your legs give out, your body slumping onto the bed. Kyle follows you, keeping his cock inside you. Youâre tensed around him, still seeking what he canât give you. It has to be torture, your body desperate for a knot, for some relief to the pain you must be in, yet Kyle canât stop. He canât have mercy on you, not yet.Â
Itâs addicting, the feeling of fucking you during your heat. He gets the insanity alphas seem to be overwhelmed by during an omegaâs heat. Itâs not just the pheromones driving the mating instinct, not the sweet scent that drives them crazy. The feeling of your body, the way your pussy sucks him in all wet and hot...for a moment he does wish he could knot you, just to feel what itâs like.Â
John pushes a hand into his back, pressing him fully on top of you. Kyle moves onto his elbows, just preventing you from taking his full weight. Youâre hot under him, skin feverish and slicked with sweat. His cheek rests against your damp hair, one of his hands slipping up the bed. He brushes your drool slick skin with his thumb, your shallow gasps pressing your back up against his chest.Â
âPlease....please...â You whine, pushing your ass back against him.Â
âEasy.â John says, kneeling over both of you on the bed. His hand slips down between your legs, gathering the slick still seeping out around Kyleâs cock.Â
The wet sound of John smearing your slick on his cock is loud in the silence, Kyleâs cheeks clamping in anticipation. Youâre clenching around him, almost begging him to move again, but it wonât be him in control anymore.Â
Not that he really was in control in the first place.Â
John presses his tip against Kyleâs hole, the beta pressing his face into your hair as he groans. His own hand grips the sheets as John presses further in, shifting closer to Kyleâs ass as he works himself into the tight passage.Â
âFuck...â Kyle whines, grinding his hips against your ass. You whine softly at the sensation, pressing against him as much as you can with their combined weight pinning you down.Â
âThatâs it.â John groans, pressing in further. âFuck...you can take it.âÂ
John begins moving his hips shallowly, thrusting further and further into Kyleâs ass. Kyle feels a bit like you, unable to do much but lay there and take it as John begins to fuck his ass. Johnâs thrusts push him into you, his cock grinding into your pussy. Their combined rocking has your clit rubbing against the bed, your eyes rolling in pleasure.Â
You cum twice around Kyleâs cock as John fucks him, his hips slapping against Kyleâs ass. John's hands grip Kyleâs hips tight enough Kyle might sport bruises of his own after this. Deep growls rumble in Johnâs chest, echoing almost in time with his thrusts. Kyle feels like whimpering from the combined pleasure of your pussy clenching around him and Johnâs cock driving into his ass. He canât think anymore feeling just as out of it as you look.Â
For a moment Kyle is worried you might have passed out under him, and he lifts himself higher up on his elbows, ready to tap out in concern. You shift under him as he presses up, trying to push yourself up too, arching against Kyleâs chest. He breathes out a quiet sigh of relief as you move, unable to do much still except whine and plead.Â
âPlease, please, please,â You repeat it like a mantra, head bending back as your body spasms, the sweetest moans falling from your lips. âAlpha!âÂ
You cry out for him as slick and fluid gushes out of you, your hips lifting off the bed as you push your ass against Kyle. John lets out an animalistic growl as he picks up the pace, fucking Kyle so hard he nearly sees stars.Â
âIâve got you,â John grunts, bending over Kyleâs back. âIâve got you.âÂ
Kyle can feel it, worry flooding through him for a moment as the base of Johnâs cock swells, pushing against the ring of his ass. Heâs never taken a knot before, never had a chance to. Heâs not sure he wants to as the feels the size of it. He might tear in half.Â
Instead John pulls out of him, grunting as he jerks his cock until heâs spurting his hot cum across Kyleâs ass. Youâve gone limp beneath him again, your only movement the slow push of your hips backwards against him. Kyle gently turns your head so your face isnât pressed into the mattress. The last thing they need is you accidentally suffocating yourself. He canât help but wonder if John has enough awareness to do the same, or if suffocation is a fear he should worry about during your heats. He hadnât even thought of that during your first heat.Â
John slaps his ass, getting his attention again. âOff.â He says, pushing Kyle to the side.Â
Kyle gets the memo, his cock sore as he pulls out of you, flopping over to the side. John drags a hand up your back, the motion very soft and intimate compared to the rough fucking you both had just taken. John wraps his arms around you, lifting you up against his chest. You let him move you, limp again in his arms, your head pressing back against his shoulder. Slick still dribbles out of you, mixed with Kyleâs cum.Â
âOver here. On your back.â John directs Kyle and he moves despite his own exhaustion, laying where you had just been. The bed is wet, the sheets soaked through. Kyle silently thanks whoever created plastic heat protectors for mattresses as he settles on his back.Â
John lets you flop to the side, Kyle grateful you just miss smacking your head against the wall. Youâre staring at him, eyes lidded as you continue to pant. Your hand slips down between your legs, fingers pressing into your pussy despite the fucking you had just taken, the fucking youâve done since your heat started. John tugs him further down the bed, his knees bent and feet against the footboard. His cock twitches as he waits patiently for whatâs going to come next.Â
John tugs you up, a whine leaving your lips as your fingers are forced out of you. He maneuvers your body into place, kneeling over Kyleâs face. Excitement thrums in his veins as slick dribbles out of you, dripping onto his chin. He licks his lips, dipping his tongue down his chin to try and get a taste of it again.Â
Kyle feels like he may be in heat as John pushes you forward just slightly, his arms wrapped around your middle as his cock presses into you. His knot has deflated for now, his length slipping easily into your slick pussy. Your hands grip the headboard as John begins to fuck you, holding you up over Kyleâs face. Kyle sticks his tongue out, catching your slick and the remnants of his own cum as Johnâs thrusts force it out of you. Despite the soreness of his cock itâs twitching back to life, the taste and scent of you on his face nearly driving him over the edge.Â
You let out the most delicious sounding whines as your alpha finally fucks you, promising you what Kyle canât: temporary relief from the fire in your veins and the ache between your thighs. A knot. Your legs shake around his head, Kyleâs hands coming up to grip the backs of your knees. He wouldnât care if you dropped on him. Heâd take a broken nose if it meant heâd get to taste your slick from the source again. He could always text Dr. Keller to come and patch him up, though heâd have to tell her how it happened.Â
He doubts sheâd care.Â
John keeps his hold on you tight though, keeping you up as he fucks into you roughly, the bed shaking from the force of his thrusts. You tremble above Kyle as you cum again, more slick gushing out around Johnâs cock. Itâs obscene from his angle, Johnâs cock driving into your sopping pussy, slick oozing out around his cock, wetting your thighs and Johnâs thighs and Kyleâs face. He licks as much as he can from his face, basking in the sweet taste of you raining down over him like manna from heaven.Â
John groans, his cock twitching as he cums inside you, his hips pressing tight against your ass. Your legs nearly give out again, Kyleâs grip tightening around your thighs instinctively. John pulls out of you, quickly lowering you over Kyleâs mouth. He doesnât have to say anything as Kyleâs hands slide up to grip your hips, holding you in place as he begins to lick up the slick and cum seeping out of you.Â
Itâs a musky, sweet concoction, savory and sweet on his tongue. John is still holding you up, keeping you steady as you twitch over Kyle, sensitive and dripping all over his face. Your knees squeeze Kyleâs head as you cum again, Kyle having to turn his head to breathe for a moment as you nearly waterboard him with your slick.Â
Kyle licks every last drop of your cum and Johnâs. He could lay here, licking your slick all day, but he knows that would be near torture for you. No matter how many times he can make you cum, he canât give you what you need.Â
He pushes you up slightly, back into Johnâs hold. âDo it.â He gasps, taking in deep breaths after nearly being drowned in your slick. âGive her what she needs.âÂ
John pulls you back, backing up slightly as Kyle moves up the bed more. Your slick is still coating his face, dripping down his chin to his neck and chest. John bends you over Kyleâs chest, letting you rest there as you present for your alpha, somehow still able to hold yourself up. Omega instincts he supposes, giving you the strength to present all pretty and dripping for your alpha. Kyleâs fingers brush your burning skin, your entire body soaked in sweat. Youâre still rocking your hips, trying to push back against John. How youâre even awake, let alone still moving is a miracle to him. Another wonder of omega biology.Â
You let out a content sigh as John presses back into you, his hips immediately snapping against your ass as he sets a near brutal pace. Heâs been fighting it as well, fighting that urge to knot you as soon as he can. Kyle feels honored, having this opportunity, sharing this moment with the two of you. His research has paled in comparison to seeing it in person. He understands it better now, understands the two of you and how you fit together perfectly in this moment. Your body responds naturally to your alphaâs, pulsing around Johnâs cock as you seek out his knot. John brings you endless amounts of pleasure, both of you ruled by your instincts which provide you both with an intense stamina.Â
Kyle doesn't have that stamina, but he doesnât mind. He canât even imagine doing this for a day, much less a week. Yet, despite his exhaustion, his cock still continues to twitch, half hard as he holds Johnâs gaze. His alphaâs eyes are dark, focused and intense. Growls leave his lips, rumbling through his chest. You answer with your own whines, only driving the animalistic instincts within you both. Youâre lost in your heat now, just as John is lost in his rut, only bordering on awareness because of Kyleâs presence.Â
Had Kyle not been in here, he knows John would have had you in this position for the next hour, fucking you relentlessly until he could finally knot you and bring both of yourselves a little relief. Kyle would have stayed out in the hallway for a while, letting you both rest and John care for you until he decided it was time to check on you both and clean things up a little.Â
Youâre both close. He can tell by the way you shake over him, hands pushing into his chest as you try to lift yourself up, fingers scratching at his skin, but they canât get enough of a grip to hurt. John is close too, deep growls rumbling in his chest as he pulls back into his thrusts. His knot must be swelling, pushing against your entrance.Â
âPlease...Please alpha!!â You cry, trying to push back against him. âNeed it!âÂ
âNeed that?â John growls, grinding against you. âNeed my knot?âÂ
âPlease!â You whine pathetically, writhing over Kyle.Â
He wants to watch, he wants to see Johnâs knot push into you, spread you open, push in until youâre locked in place. âLet me see.â He breathes, still holding Johnâs gaze. âLet me see it.âÂ
John understands even in his hazy state, bending down to lift you back up against his chest. Kyle can see it, his swollen knot pushing against your pussy with every thrust of his hips. Youâre crying, begging incoherently for it, trying to push down on it.Â
âShhhh,â John shushes you, his lips brushing your cheek. âAlphaâs got you.âÂ
The words nearly have Kyle cumming again, his balls tightening as John reassures you, promises you heâll give you what you need. Your neck bends back, your head pushing against Johnâs shoulder as he begins to lower you while pushing his hips up, fighting the natural resistance as his knot spreads you open. The slight tapering of it makes it easier, easing your pussy open in preparation for the widest part. Youâre shaking, body almost spasming as he presses his knot into you, your pussy spread almost impossibly wide as he slips all the way in, groaning as he locks in place inside you. Kyle can see your pussy spasm, your eyes rolling back as you cum again around him, the last bit of slick dribbling out of you before the rest is trapped inside you by your alphaâs knot.Â
John doesnât let you drop this time, instead lowering you down gently against Kyleâs chest, moving with you. The dark intensity of his eyes has lessened, softening back into the blue he recognizes. John gently moves you off Kyleâs chest, shifting to the side so youâre lying next to the beta. Kyle turns onto his side facing the two of you, his body covered in slick and sweat and your drool. The heaviness of your combined scents has faded a bit in the air, not quite as intense as it had been even just moments ago.Â
Heâs breathing heavily, almost as heavily as the two of you. Youâve fallen unconscious, or at least you look like you have as you lay there limply, eyes closed, sweaty with drool still wet on your chin. âThank you.â He says, his gaze meeting Johnâs again. âThank you for letting me do this.âÂ
The corners of Johnâs lips pull up in a smile. âIâm glad you got to experience it. I doubt sheâd complain if you wanted to stay.â He says, trailing his fingers down your arm. You twitch just slightly, and Kyle can imagine how overstimulated you must be from everything.Â
Kyle breathes out a laugh, shaking his head. âIâm not sure I could handle much more.âÂ
John does smile now, his eyes flickering downwards. âOne more?âÂ
Kyle swallows as John reaches for his throbbing cock, nodding in agreement. He shifts slightly closer as Johnâs warm hand wraps around his length, his thumb teasing Kyleâs leaking slit. Kyle sighs softly, his cock sensitive from the intense fucking it had just experienced. Heâs gone for longer, but it hadnât been like this. You squeezing around him, tightening like a vice as you came, sucking him in as your body searched for a knot.Â
John begins to move his hand, pumping Kyleâs cock. He wonât last much longer, nearly burning with overstimulation and sensitivity.Â
âFuck, fuck.â He curses softly, eyes squeezing closed as his balls tighten, the wet thwack of his cock filling the air. Itâs damp still from your slick and the mixture of his cum and Johnâs.Â
He cums with a moan, spilling on his chest and the bed. Heâs surprised thereâs anything left, a whimper leaving his lips as John continues to move his hand, working him through his orgasm. John squeezes the base of his cock before releasing him, lifting his hand to Kyleâs face. Kyle licks the bit of his cum that leaked onto Johnâs thumb before leaning into his touch.Â
âGood boy.â John praises, his eyes hooded with exhaustion.Â
The base of Kyleâs spine tingles from his alphaâs praise, but he canât even bring himself to think about getting hard again, much less actually doing it.Â
You let out a soft sound, your eyes cracked open as you stare up at Kyle. He meets your gaze, surprised to see you still conscious. Your hand lifts weakly, thumb pressing against Kyleâs lips before it falls back to the bed. âPretty.âÂ
Both Kyle and John chuckle as you drift back out of it, John keeping one arm tucked under you, the other reaching over to pull Kyle closer. He should get up, grab you all electrolyte drinks and nutrition bars but he canât quite get his body to move. Instead he lays there, staring at you both as you drift in and out of sleep during your quick moment of relief and clarity. John is purring quietly, the sound so different to the deep, animalistic growls that had just been rumbling in his chest.Â
Youâll be back at it soon, needy and desperate to fuck like you havenât been for almost two straight days. Thereâs still at least three more days to go, four if youâre unlucky. Then heâll have to worry about things after your heat ends. It had been rough the first time, and he can imagine it will be again, especially with the week you had before your pre-heat started. Heâll call Dr. Keller again after itâs over, let her come and help you, make sure everything is alright. He doubts anything will go wrong, that John would let anything happen to you.Â
âAlphaâs got you.âÂ
The words still ring in his head. The sincerity, the promise in them. He really does have control, he does make sure youâre safe and well cared for, he does catch you when you fall. Not just during your heat, but outside of it. The difference between John and Simon is only getting clearer as you begin to bond with the packâs second alpha.Â
John is the caretaker, the comforter whose strength comes from his heart and his emotional control. The one who can stay calm and lead even in the most dire situations. Heâs seen it in the pack, and heâs seen it out in the field. His dominance is soft and heâs only harsh when the need arises.Â
Simon is the protector. Heâs rough around the edges, a man of action not comforting words. A clear minded leader, but one well versed in raw power and violence. Heâs abrasive and standoffish, yet fiercely protective of those he deems his.Â
They can see it the most now with you. John is the one you turn to when you need comforting words and to be held. Simon is the one who looms like a protective shadow, a silent threat behind you.Â
Yet he can see the softening around Simonâs harsh edges, those walls heâs built up since you arrived crumbling down around the two of you. Itâs not just in his physical acceptance of you, but the mental acceptance of you being a part of the pack, you being a part of him.Â
He hopes Simon does do it. He hopes Simon will claim you someday, let you bring together both halves of the pack completely. He knows Simon wants to. Johnny has talked about the yearning, the stares, the lingering. Youâd let him. You probably want him to yourself. Yet he knows Simon will hold off, torture himself with it until he has no choice but to give in.Â
Itâs a pattern, a fatal flaw of his.Â
It will happen eventually though. They all know it.Â
Itâs quiet. Has been for nearly an hour. Itâs been a while since heâs checked on you both, forcing a nutrient bar into Johnâs hands as Kyle sat by the bed feeding you one. Neither of you had been interested in eating, but had begrudgingly chewed the indistinguishable dried mush of nutrient-rich foods shaped into a bar. Kyle had tried a bite of one just to see what it was like.Â
It wasnât good.Â
He had taken it as a sign the end was near. The thumping of the bed against the wall had slowed, losing the ferocity with which it had steadily thump-thump-thumped against the wall for the last five days. Even the moans and groans and growls have quieted, and the breaks between rounds have gotten longer and longer.Â
He gets off his cot, padding silently to the door. He opens it, slipping in before closing it quietly. You and John are cuddled together on the bed. Youâre shivering, the blanket heâd folded and draped over the footboard five days ago is draped over you both.Â
Kyle steps up to the bed, Johnâs eyes opening. He looks tired, eyes slightly red and bags hanging heavy under them. You both have to be exhausted, physically and mentally. He presses his hand to your forehead, a soft whine leaving your lips. John gently shushes you, tightening his hold around you. Your temperature is considerably lower than it has been, even a few hours ago. Kyle lifts the blanket for a moment, checking the two of you. Johnâs knot has deflated and the only thing still leaking out of you is a mixture of leftover slick and Johnâs cum.Â
âIâll go start the bath.â Kyle says, letting the blanket drape over you again.Â
He heads into your bathroom, starting the water in the tub. He waits until it gets warm before putting the stopper in, letting it fill. He opens the cabinet under the sink, pulling out the epsom salt Dr. Keller recommended to help with the soreness. Heâs used it himself, the few times heâs had a bath in the last few years, mostly after missions when heâs been particularly sore, bruised and aching after taking a beating physically and mentally. Heâd used lavender scented salts to try and calm his mind, but heâd chosen to go with unscented for your heat, knowing the added scent may confuse you. Youâll need your alphaâs scent close to ground you in the disoriented state youâll be in for the next couple hours.Â
He pours some salt into the bath, stirring it with his hand until itâs dissolved. He seals the bag, slipping it back in the cupboard before pushing himself to stand. He heads back into your room, pulling the blanket back again before helping John off the bed. They try not to disturb you too much, John flinching at the whine you let out as his warmth disappears. Kyle knows he doesn't want to leave you, but you both need the bath to help with the sore muscles and keep them from locking up after so long. You also need it to help with the sudden drop in your temperature.Â
Kyle eases John into the warm water, helping him sit in the tub. He wishes it was a bigger tub as his alphaâs long legs bend at the knees, unable to stretch out completely. Theyâll want a longer, deeper tub in the seaside cottage youâve dreamed of. Maybe one with jacuzzi jets. Kyle turns off the water, John leaning back against the tile wall, his eyes half closed.Â
Kyle pushes himself up to stand after a moment, heading back to the bed to get you. Youâre shivering, letting out quiet whines as you search out your alpha in your confusion and disorientation.Â
âI know, I know.â He tries to soothe you, projecting his beta scent into the air. It wonât be enough, but it at least offers up some comfort in your state. You still need your alpha even though your heat is over.Â
He scoops you up, wincing as you whine in pain, but he knows itâs necessary. You need the warm water to help keep you stable, and a moment with your alpha to help get you grounded.Â
He eases you into the tub, Johnâs legs parting to make room for you as Kyle settles you against his chest. Your alpha wraps his arms around you, holding you tightly as you whimper softly. Kyle makes sure the two of you are settled before getting back up, ensuring the towels are ready before heading back into your room.Â
He pulls the sheet off your bed, crusty and still slightly damp from the week of near nonstop fucking. He knows some of those crusty spots are his own cum, yet he still canât quite believe it really happened. Heâs spent the last few days thinking about it, pinching himself to remind himself it wasnât a dream. He really did get to experience some of your heat.Â
He canât get the image of Johnâs knot pressing into you, your puffy, slick pussy spreading wide around it. The way your body shuddered, the relieved moan as you finally got what you wanted, what you needed. It was a beautiful sight, and he wishes he had Johnnyâs talent so he could paint it and keep it forever.Â
He bundles your clothes in the sheet along with the blanket to take them to the wash, cleaning up the wrappers and bottles and adding them to the trash bag heâd started. He pulls the plastic heat protector from the bed, balling it into another trash bag. He packs the bundle of laundry to the laundry room, starting the washer before taking the two bags of trash out and stuffing them in the bin to get picked up later this week. He wouldnât be surprised if one of them goes missing, some young, desperate alpha pulling it out to jerk off to your scent.Â
It makes his nose scrunch up in disgust.Â
He heads back to your room, pulling the clean sheets out of the top of your closet, remaking the bed. He puts your comforter back on the bed, folding your blankets and putting them at the end of the bed. He stacks your pillows and stuffed animals back in place as much as he can remember, though he knows youâll remake your nest later once youâre more aware. Right now itâs important you be surrounded by the comfort of familiar scents.Â
He makes sure everything is as back in place as it can be, pulling a shirt out of your closet for you to change into once youâre out of the bath. Heâs not quite sure whose it is, the only smell coming off it is the scent of laundry detergent. Itâs soft after being washed quite a few times, likely one of the first you got from them, or at least one youâd stolen early on. Youâd cut the tags out, something youâve done with almost all of your clothes. He canât blame you. If he could, he would do the same.Â
He heads back into the bathroom once everything looks as back to normal as it can, kneeling next to the tub.Â
âHow do you feel?â John asks.Â
Kyle nearly laughs at the question. He should be the one asking him that, but of course John would be worried about the rest of his pack before himself. âNot bad.â He answers. âTired, but nothing compared to how you have to be feeling right now.âÂ
John huffs out a laugh, gently stroking your hair as you whimper softly. Heâs taken it out of the braid, managing to untangle it a little. âThis is the hardest part, I think.âÂ
Kyle nods. âI can imagine.â He grabs a washcloth, squirting some of your strawberry scented soap onto it before he begins gently scrubbing your skin, attempting to get some of the dried fluids off.Â
âFucking nonstop for days in a lust induced haze is easy.â John says, shifting you slightly so Kyle can reach more of your skin. âItâs coming down from it, when you start to feel the effects of fucking for days nearly nonstop that it really starts to settle in. The aches, the pains, the exhaustion from almost no sleep, the hunger, the thirst.â He shakes his head. âMaybe Iâm just old.âÂ
Kyle makes a face. âYou are getting up there.âÂ
John gives him a playful glare, shaking his head. His face softens as he looks at Kyle, dutifully cleaning up after their five day instinct-induced haze. âThank you, for earlier. Giving her what she wanted.âÂ
Kyle nods. âOf course. Couldnât turn down a chance to experience it, and I wouldnât want to leave you with an upset omega during her heat.âÂ
John snorts quietly. âI doubt sheâd have been upset for long. Probably doesnât remember most of it.â
Kyle hums, John helping him get you sitting up so he can rinse your back and attempt to get some of the dirt and fluids out of your hair. A part of him knows thatâs true, but a part of him hopes you will remember at least some of it. Heâll never forget it, his mouth watering slightly as the memories of your slick on his tongue, dripping onto his face. John fucking you over him, letting you drip all over him. It may be a bit selfish of him, but he wants to experience that over and over, every time you sit on his face, every time he fucks you, every time John fucks you in front of him.Â
Kyle helps hold you up, wincing at your whines both in pain and from the loss of your alphaâs touch as he scrubs the dried slick off of his skin. The water is murky from the mix of soap, slick, and cum coming off of you both. The water is starting to get cold as he rinses Johnâs hair, making sure to get the soap off of you both.Â
âReady?â He asks, reaching down to pull the plug.Â
âNo.â John says, lips tugging up in a half smile, likely all he can manage in his exhausted state. âBut the bed is more comfortable than the tub.âÂ
Kyle grins at him, slipping his hands under your arms, and with the help of John, he gets you standing. John twitches at your whine of protest, Kyle holding you up as he tries to towel you off as much as he can. The dryer he can get you, the less cold youâll be once youâre back in bed. Youâre still shivering despite the bath, your face pressing against Kyleâs chest in search of any warmth you can get.Â
Kyle scoops you up, carrying you to the bed. You let out a whine as he eases you down onto the edge of the bed, but he shushes you gently, quickly drying your hair as much as he can. He pulls the shirt over your head, pulling your arms though the holes before shifting you to the head of the bed. He pulls the comforter over you, letting you sink into the softness of your stuffed animals before he heads back to the bathroom.Â
John has gotten himself standing, leaning against the wall as he dries himself with the other towel. Kyle drapes one of his arms over his shoulder, helping guide him back to the bed, lowering him onto the edge. He finishes drying John off before he grabs a pair of boxers from your dresser. Heâs not sure whose they are either, but they fit decently enough for now.Â
He helps John under the covers with you, his arms wrapping around you. You immediately gravitate towards him, pressing against his chest. John holds you tightly, shushing your quiet whimpers.Â
âHere.â He passes John an electrolyte drink. âKeep hydrating yourself. Iâll go scrounge up some real food.âÂ
âYouâre a good man, Kyle.â John says. âA good beta.âÂ
âThank you, sir.â Kyle says, looking over the two of you again before leaving the room in search of food.Â
Youâre crying when he returns.Â
Heâs expecting it this time, less shocked by your shuddering breaths and quiet sobs. John has shifted you both, his back against the headboard, your body curled up between his legs. Thereâs a stack of blankets wrapped around you, and one of your stuffed bears clutched tightly against your chest. John is purring softly, the sound vibrating in his chest as he tries to soothe you through the disorientation and sudden drop in hormones as you become more aware.Â
âI let Dr. Keller know.â Kyle says, setting the tray of food down on the nightstand. âSheâll be here soon. Wants to do a quick checkup.â
âFine with me.â John says, shifting you just slightly so he can set the tray in his lap. You let out a whimper at being moved, Johnâs purr intensifying until you settle again. âIâm starving.â He says, picking up the fork.Â
âJohnny went and picked up lunch.â Kyle says, pulling your desk chair over to sit next to the bed.Â
John chews the bite of food in his mouth. âHow are they?âÂ
A smile tugs at Kyleâs lips. âHolding up. Johnnyâs got a noticeable limp to his step.âÂ
John lets out a quiet chuckle. âIâd imagine so. Might have to mark him down as a casualty.âÂ
âI donât think heâd complain.â Kyle says. âI canât imagine any of us will be doing much for the next few days.âÂ
John shakes his head. âDefinitely not. You and Simon are probably in the best shape. Youâll have to hold down the fort.âÂ
âWeâll do our best.â Kyle says.Â
John eats his food eagerly, managing to get a couple bites of potato and some peas into your mouth. Youâre aware enough to chew them a few times, probably not wanting to eat in your current state, but your body knows you need to. Heâs glad omegas have the drive to eat as much as they can before their heats. You might not survive if you didnât. Not on those nutritional bars.Â
Kyle takes the tray once John is finished, setting it on your desk for now. Heâll give it to Johnny to take back when they go for dinner. John adjusts you against his chest again, resting his chin on your head as he goes through his emails and messages. You shift in his arms, pressing your face into his neck, your tears sliding down his skin. He rubs your back, keeping you pinned against him as he quietly purrs, trying to soothe you. It hurts them both that he canât, but Kyle knows itâs a natural response. He doesnât blame you. It must be so jarring not remembering, and all the physical things changing so rapidly, and adding on top of that the pain? Heâd probably cry too.Â
The knock at the door is soft and quiet, yet you still startle at it, jumping slightly in John's arms. He gently shushes you as a whimper chokes out through the tears.Â
Kyle lets Dr. Keller in, closing the door behind her. The soft scent of beta fills the room, Dr. Keller doing her best not to startle you further in your disoriented state. John shifts you slightly so she can see you better. You let out a whine of indignation at being moved, the quiet purr still rumbling in John's chest.Â
Dr. Keller sets her bag on the floor before kneeling next to the bed. âHi honey.â She says, opening up her bag. âStill pretty out of it, huh.âÂ
The tears continue to cascade down your cheeks, your eyes barely open as you stare at her. Youâre still leaning heavily against Johnâs chest, unable to hold yourself up. Dr. Keller brushes the hair away from your face before taking your temperature, holding the digital thermometer up to your forehead.Â
She glances at the screen when it beeps, her brows furrowing just slightly. âA little low,â She says, putting the thermometer back in the bag. âBut not concerning.â
John maneuvers you again, pulling an arm free from the blankets so she can check your blood pressure and pulse.Â
âHow did things go this time?â She asks, placing the blood pressure cuff around your arm.Â
âBetter.â John responds. âSmoother.âÂ
âEasier now that we know what to expect.â Kyle says.Â
âGood.â Dr. Keller says, taking your pulse and blood pressure. âHeart rate and blood pressure are normal.â She puts the monitors back into the bag, pulling out a pill bottle. âMuscle relaxers, same as last time. Her temperature is a little low, but that could just be a response to such a rapid drop in body temperature as well as changes in her hormones. If she starts feeling cold to the touch, or her extremities start turning blue, get her to emergency.â She zips up her bag, pushing herself up to stand. She gives John a pointed look. âTake care of yourself too. I recommend ice packs.âÂ
A smile quirks Johnâs lips, but he doesn't offer any arguments or disagreements. âIâll keep that in mind. Thank you.âÂ
Kyle already knows heâs going to be sent for ice packs soon.Â
Dr. Keller turns to face him, giving him a soft smile. Kyle hasnât had many interactions with your doctor, most of them being during your heat and after. Yet, he canât help but feel comforted by her presence. Maybe itâs her ability to project her scent so much, enough to make even him feel relaxed, or maybe itâs just her calm demeanor, the way she always seems to be so confident and in control.Â
âSame thing as last time. Check for blood, if sheâs still unresponsive or refusing food after a couple of hours, call me.â She says. âYou did a good job, again. You should be proud.âÂ
Kyle smiles. âI am. Thank you, doctor.âÂ
He sees her out of the barracks, standing in the cool air for a moment before he closes the door, heading back to your room.Â
Youâre tucked against Johnâs chest again, curled up as tight as you can. John has shuffled down the headboard a bit, relaxing back against your pillows. Youâre still crying, but itâs been reduced to mostly sniffles. He steps up to the bed, running a hand over your head. He wants to braid your hair again, keep it from tangling but he wouldnât dare move you right now. His hand moves lower, wrapping around Johnâs wrist, his thumb brushing his alphaâs skin for a moment.Â
âYou should go do something.â John says, eyes half closed. âGet out of here and take a break for a bit. Weâll be fine. Going to take a long nap.âÂ
A smile tugs at Kyleâs lips. He loves moments like this, when his Captain, his alpha is sleepy. Heâs softer, the usual sternness that paints his face gone, his shoulders relaxed. Itâs partially due to the pain he has to be in, and the exhaustion after the last five days beginning to hit him now that your heat has passed. Kyle squeezes his wrist for a moment before letting go. Heâs a bit unsure of what he should do, after standing watch and taking care of the two of you for almost a week. It feels strange to leave now, especially with the two of you so vulnerable.Â
Johnâs hand wraps around his wrist before he can move away, and he turns to look back at his alpha. âGrab me an ice pack first.âÂ
Kyleâs lips tug up in a smirk. âOf course, sir.âÂ
He heads to the rec room, pulling one of the larger ice packs out of the freezer before heading back to your room. He doesnât bother closing your door this time, letting the room air out just a bit as he goes to your bathroom. He grabs a hand towel from under your sink before wrapping it around the ice pack. He pushes the cabinet door closed with his foot before heading back into your room.Â
He pulls the stack of blankets and your comforter up just enough to slip it underneath, feeling blindly as he situates it against Johnâs crotch. The alpha lets out a quiet sigh as he settles the ice pack in place, the cold already beginning to sink through the towel.Â
âThank you.â He says to Kyle, eyes half open as he stares up at his beta.Â
âGet some sleep.â Kyle says, tucking the blankets around the both of you before leaving the room, closing the door behind him.Â
He stares at his cot, knowing he should start cleaning up, but heâs tired himself. He feels the urge to lay down again, but instead he heads for the laundry room, switching over the laundry.Â
He stands in the middle of the hallway once heâs done, staring down one side towards the rec room. He could always sprawl out on the couch and turn on some daytime TV show and pass out there. It wouldn't be too terribly uncomfortable compared to the cot heâs spent the last five days on.Â
He turns his head down the other side of the hallway, glancing toward Simonâs office. They have yet to show their faces, not since they left to grab lunch. He wonders if theyâve even returned, or if they chose to stay away for the time being. He chews on his lip for a moment before making his decision, turning down the hallway towards Simonâs office.Â
The scent of alpha is strong down the hallway, the musky scent a relief after the sweet scent thatâs permeated his thoughts. He doesnât mind your scent usually, but after five days of the intoxicating sweetness, he needs a break. He needs something fresher, something...different.Â
He pauses at the door, hesitating for a moment. He could use some company for a while. Heâs been alone with his thoughts far too much. He takes the plunge, knocking on the door. Thereâs no immediate response, which he was expecting.Â
âJust me.â He says, pressing close to the door as he waits.Â
âEnter.â Simonâs gruff voice finally says, Kyle just catching it through the door. He might not have heard it if he hadnât been so close.Â
Kyle turns the knob, opening the door. The scent of sex and the thick musk of alpha hits him like a train as he leans into the office. Simon is seated on the edge of one of the cots, mask off and pants flung onto the floor by his desk. Johnny is on his knees between Simonâs legs, a distinct choking sound coming from his throat.Â
Simon releases Johnnyâs head, letting him pull back from his alphaâs cock. He takes in deep gulps of air, his hand still wrapped around Simonâs hard length. Kyle leans against the doorway, crossing his arms with a knowing smirk.Â
âTheyâre done and cleared, whenever youâre ready.â He tells them.Â
Simon grips Johnnyâs mohawk, still looking at Kyle as he pushes Johnnyâs head towards his cock again. âWeâre not quite done here yet.âÂ
âLooks that way.â Kyle says, and he canât help the stirring in his pants as Johnny takes Simon back into his mouth.Â
A smirk tugs at Simonâs lips as he stares at the other beta. âWant to lend a helping hand? Give poor Johnny a break?âÂ
Kyleâs throat goes dry at the idea, his eyes flickering to where Johnny has Simon in the back of his throat, lips wide around the alphaâs thick cock. Kyle canât help but wonder how many times heâs been in that position over the last few days. Johnny lets out a whine as Simon pushes him deeper, his nose almost pressed against the light hair at the base of Simonâs cock.Â
âFuck.â Kyle groans, closing the door behind him.Â
Simon wraps his fingers around Kyleâs arm as soon as heâs close, yanking him down so hard Kyle almost falls against him. Kyle has a clear view of Johnny sucking on his alphaâs cock, bobbing his head on the massive length from this angle. Simonâs hand is tight around his forearm, holding him still as he presses his nose against Kyleâs throat. A deep growl rumbles in his chest, his teeth nipping at Kyleâs skin.Â
Of course. Kyle hadnât showered or changed clothes after he left your room.Â
He smells like you.Â
Simonâs hips buck up, Johnny letting out a strangled gag before he pulls back off of Simonâs cock.Â
âFucking christ.â Johnny chokes out, coughing after getting hit in the back of the throat by Simonâs cock. âGonnae kill me.âÂ
Simon doesnât pay him any mind, his tongue too busy trailing Kyleâs throat, as if he could lick every inch of your scent from his skin. Thereâs a low rumbling vibrating in Simonâs chest, his grip tight around Kyleâs arm.Â
Kyleâs own cock is throbbing, almost as much as it had upon seeing slick drip out of your pussy. Simon lets out a growl before releasing Kyleâs arm, gripping him around the back of his neck. Kyle lets out a quiet moan as Simon forces him down on his knees next to Johnny. The alpha stands from the cot, towering over them as his hard cock nearly throbs in their faces.Â
He stares down at them, his eyes dark with lust. Itâs not unlike how Johnâs eyes had looked when he was lost to his rut.Â
âSuch pretty boys.â Simon rasps, running a hand over each of their heads.Â
Johnny purrs, leaning into his touch. Kyle feels the beginnings of a purr rising in his chest, his beta pleased by the large alphaâs praise.Â
Kyle turns to face Johnny, gripping his fellow betaâs chin. He turns Johnny to look at him, that gleam in his eyes and stupid grin he gets when heâs subby on his face. Kyle leans forward, licking Johnnyâs lips, silently conveying what he wants. Johnny responds immediately, opening his mouth to Kyle. Kyle drags his tongue along Johnnyâs, tasting the familiar muskiness of Simonâs cum.Â
Theyâve been at this for a while.Â
Johnny moans needily, his lips closing around Kyleâs tongue, sucking it into his mouth. Kyle groans, pressing his lips to Johnnyâs, kissing him deeply.Â
âFucking hell.â Simon groans, fisting his throbbing cock as he stares down at the two betas making out in front of him.Â
Drool drips down their chins, Kyleâs mind flashing back to the drool that had dripped out of your mouth, pooling on his chest. His cock throbs and he presses closer to Johnny, holding his face still as he licks the spit from Johnnyâs skin.Â
Simon groans, watching them. âIf you two donât get back to what youâre supposed to be doing...âÂ
Johnny grins playfully, both of them turning to face Simon with shiny faces. Simonâs cock is hard and angry looking as he holds it out for them, waiting patiently. Kyle slides his hand down Simonâs cock, replacing the alphaâs hand as he grips the base. Johnny and Kyle both lean forward, dragging their tongues down the sides of Simonâs cock, tracing the veins popping out. Simon groans as they work their way back towards his head, their tongues meeting at the tip. Their tongues swirl over the engorged head, flicking along his slit to gather the precum dripping from the tip of his cock.Â
They pull away for a moment, Johnny licking the fluid from Kyleâs mouth before they kiss again, Kyleâs hand pumping Simonâs length. Kyleâs free hand sinks into Johnnyâs mohawk, tugging him away from his lips. His hand is still pumping Simonâs cock as he guides Johnny back towards his alpha, Johnnyâs mouth opening eagerly. Kyle guides Simonâs thick length into Johnnyâs mouth again, using his grip on Johnnyâs hair to move him along Simonâs cock.Â
Johnny takes more and more of Simon into his mouth, choking slightly as Simonâs head pushes against his tongue. His throat has to be sore after this last week, but not nearly as much as his poor ass. Kyle pushes Johnny all the way onto Simonâs cock, the betaâs nose pressing into the hair around Simonâs cock. Johnny gags, his hands pressing against Simonâs thick thighs before Kyle pulls him off his alphaâs cock.Â
Kyle quickly replaces him, licking Johnnyâs saliva off the thick length before taking Simonâs cock into his mouth. He relaxes his throat, bobbing his head lower and lower on Simonâs cock. Heâs always impressed by the alphaâs size, his own cock throbbing at the memory of Johnâs cock, the knot pressing right against his rim.Â
Simonâs knot must be damn near colossal.Â
Kyle presses down until he can feel it, Simonâs cock pushing on the back of his tongue. He pulls off of Simonâs cock, pumping the length for a moment as he breathes. Johnny takes his place again, sucking on Simonâs tip as Kyle cups Simonâs balls in his hand. Simon groans, a growl still rumbling in his chest as your scent still lingers in the air.Â
âGonna cum for us, alpha?â Kyle says, squeezing Simonâs balls gently.Â
âFuck...â Simon groans, the word long and drawn out.Â
Kyle and Johnny switch places, Johnny fondling Simonâs balls as Kyle takes Simonâs cock in his mouth again. Simon reaches down, cupping the back of Kyleâs head as he begins to thrust into his mouth, the tangy precum dripping onto Kyleâs tongue telling him everything he needs to know. The alpha is close, his thick length twitching against Kyleâs tongue. Johnny massages Simonâs balls, holding onto them as Simon continues to fuck Kyleâs mouth, the beta suctioning around the alpha as best he can.Â
Simon pulls out of Kyleâs mouth, pumping his cock rapidly as he cums, his seed spurting out and landing on Kyle and Johnnyâs faces. Kyle licks the salty cum from his lips, wiping the bits from his face with his fingers before sucking them into his mouth. He leans over, dragging his tongue over Johnnyâs skin, gathering the rest of Simonâs cum.Â
Simon is breathing heavily as he watches Kyle lick Johnny clean before they kiss again, passing Simonâs cum back and forth on their tongues. Simon moans, squeezing around the base of his cock, trying to keep himself from getting hard again as he watches the two betas.Â
âScreaminâ Jesus.â Johnny groans as Kyle licks his lips one last time before swallowing down Simonâs cum. âNever gonnae tire of that.âÂ
âSuch a good boy.â Simon praises, running a hand over Kyleâs head. âA reward for taking such good care of our alpha and omega.âÂ
Kyle grins, practically preening from the alphaâs praise.Â
They have no idea.Â

A neon sign by the door flickers, glowing with a dim "OPEN" that buzzes faintly in the background. Itâs barely holding on, much like you are at this point.
Your shop that you owned for a few years is - to be blunt - a mess. A current maze of half-disassembled speeders and crates of mismatched parts, with wires and hydro spanners scattered across every available surface. The usual hum of machinery sounded through the space, barely masking your own frustrated grunts as you try to wrangle yet another malfunctioning power converter back into shape. But no matter how hard you work, it feels like the pile of jobs only grows larger, while your supply of critical parts dwindles.
Then, you hear the familiar irritating buzz of the door, followed by heavy footsteps. You grit your teeth, already bracing yourself for whatâs coming.
A burly customer storms in, his face flushed with anger. âThis is ridiculous!â he snaps. âYou said my speeder would be ready days ago! What kind of operation are you running here? Iâve been waiting long enough!â He throws his arms up in frustration, knocking over a pile of circuit boards in the process.
You open your mouth to respond, trying to keep your tone steady despite the stress bubbling under the surface. âLook, Iâve got a shortage of parts. Iâm doing everything I canââ
He cuts you off, voice rising. âI donât want excuses! Youâre supposed to be a mechanic, not some scrap peddler! If you canât get it done, Iâll take it somewhere that can.â
Before you can get another word in, a cold, measured voice slices through the tension. âI think youâve said enough.â
The customer whips around to see Crosshair leaning against the wall, twirling a familiar toothpick between his lips. But thereâs nothing casual about the deadly look in his eyes. He straightens up, moving to stand between you and the customer, his hand resting near his blaster as if daring the guy to push his luck. âBack off and leave the lady alone,â he snarls, tone voice dipped with venom as he flicks the pick at the customer's chest.
Their bravado is quick to vanish. He stammers, trying to recover some of his bluster, but itâs clear heâs rattled. âIâI just want my speeder fixedâŠâ He takes a step back, bumping into a tool cart and nearly knocking it over in his haste to retreat.
âThen take it somewhere else,â Crosshair replies coolly, his eyes never leaving the man. The customer mutters something under his breath and stumbles out of the shop.
For a moment, all you can do is exhale, letting the tension drain from your shoulders. You shoot Crosshair a lookâhalf-irritation, half-gratitude. âWell, there goes another job. Not that Iâm upset about it,â you mutter, rubbing your temple. âBut still, I donât need to be losing more credits.â
Crosshair simply shrugs, clearly unconcerned. âCredits wonât matter much if youâre burnt out.â
You huff, feeling the exhaustion catch up to you. âBurnt out is putting it lightly. Itâs been one thing after another all day. Parts shortages, broken motivators, customers demanding miracles. Iâm running myself crazy, and no one seems to care that I canât fix what I donât have.â Your voice wavers slightly as the frustration spills over. âIâm one person, Crosshair. I canât keep this up.â
He listens quietly, his sharp gaze softening as he takes in the stress etched on your face. Without a word, he steps over to the door and flips the neon âOPENâ sign to âCLOSED.â
When he turns back to you, heâs closer now, his tone gentler. âWhat can I do?â
You look up at him, feeling a lump in your throat at the kindness in his voice. Before you can answer, he pulls you into his arms, wrapping you in a secure embrace. You really needed this.
The warmth of him, combined with the rare tenderness in the way he holds you, makes your chest tighten with relief. You let yourself sink into him, closing your eyes as you take in the steady rhythm of his breathing. For a moment, the clutter of the shop and the never-ending to-do list fades into the background.
âJust this,â you whisper, feeling the weight of the day lift ever so slightly. âThis is enough.â
Crosshairâs hand moves in slow circles on your back, offering a silent comfort that says more than words could. His eyes then move toward your cluttered office tucked in the back of the shop. âWhy donât we head to your office? You could use a break.â
You nod, feeling a wave of fatigue wash over you. The office is far from tidyâtools, spare parts, and datapads are scattered all overâbut thereâs a worn couch in the corner thatâs always offered a bit of comfort when you need a breather. Crosshair leads the way, and you follow.
You sigh heavily as you begin pacing in your cluttered office, not being able to help but continue venting your frustrations. âItâs like everythingâs falling apart at once. Staff keep canceling their shifts, leaving me to pick up the slack. Iâm drowning in work with no one to help, and my orders for parts are delayed again! I canât catch a break, and Iâm starting to think Iâll never dig myself out of this mess.â
Crosshair moves towards the couch, slouching back in his usual relaxed manner and his sharp eyes follow your every move. He doesnât interrupt, just lets you get it all out. When you finally pause to catch your breath, he speaks, his voice calm and steady. âCome here.â
You look at him, still frazzled, but the calm assurance in his tone pulls you toward him. You sit beside him, and he wastes no time, guiding you against his chest as he wraps his arm around you. You lean your head back against his shoulder, trying to let go of the dayâs weight.
Crosshairâs fingers trail lightly along your arm, his presence grounding you. He leans in close, his breath warm against your ear as he murmurs, âLet me distract you.â
You hum softly in response, your lips curling into a faint smile at the suggestion. âYou think you can really take my mind off all this?â you ask. Oh you definitely know he can.
Instead of answering, he starts massaging your shoulders, his touch firm and soothing. His skilled hands work out the tension, moving slowly, melting away the stress youâve been carrying. As his fingers glide over your muscles, your body begins to relax, the tension easing with every pass. His thumbs press into the knots with just the right amount of pressure, and you let out a quiet, contented sigh.
âSee?â he murmurs against your neck, âYouâre already feeling better.â
His hands continue their path down your back, trailing lower before slipping back up along your sides. His touch is tender, coaxing you into a calm state that contrasts with his usual intensity. Crosshair is rarely gentle, but right now, itâs exactly what you need.
The atmosphere shifts, the tension turning into something else entirely. He pauses, and you feel his lips brush the shell of your ear as he whispers, âIs this how you wanted to be distracted?â
The teasing lilt in his voice makes you bite your lip, your pulse quickening. âMaybe⊠but I think you know what I really need,â you reply, your voice breathy as your desire begins to build.
Crosshair chuckles, clearly pleased with your response. His hands drift lower, sliding over your hips and down your thighs before slipping back up. You feel his fingers hook into the waistband of your pants, tugging them down just enough to grant him access. Your breath hitches as his hand dips beneath the fabric of your dampened panties, his fingers brushing against your already slick folds.
âIs this what you had in mind?â he asks, his voice a low rumble against your ear as he begins to tease you, his touch feather-light and maddeningly slow.
A quiet whimper escapes you as his fingers trace gentle circles over your clit, his touch skilled and precise. âCrosshairâŠâ you breathe, a plea hidden in your tone.
He smirks against your neck, enjoying the way youâre beginning to unravel in his arms. âI thought you needed a distraction,â he murmurs, sliding a finger inside you, teasingly slow. He works you with agonising precision, each movement calculated to draw out your need.
You arch against him, gasping softly as his fingers press deeper, his thumb maintaining a steady rhythm against your clit. âThis what you wanted?â he taunts, slowly adding a finger inside you, curling them just right and hitting that perfect spot.
Your body answers for you, a shuddering moan escaping your lips as you grip his arm, your hips moving in time with his touch. The stress, the tension, everything melts away under his skilled hands, leaving only the building pleasure that threatens to tip you over the edge.
Crosshairâs free hand wraps around your waist, holding you steady as he continues to work you with an almost unbearable precision. âLet it go,â he murmurs against your neck, his voice velvet and commanding all at once.
And you do, falling apart in his arms. The pleasure crashes over you in waves as his fingers carry you through your release. He doesnât stop until youâre trembling, spent and breathless against him.
For a moment, the world narrows down to just the sound of your breathing and the warmth of his arms around you. Eventually, Crosshair withdraws his hand, holding you close as you come down from the high, pressing a tender kiss to your temple.
âFeeling better?â he asks, his voice smug but laced with genuine concern.
You manage a tired, satisfied smile, still basking in the afterglow. âA little, yeah,â you whisper, sinking deeper into his embrace.
âOnly a little?â He asks with a raised brow. He shifts positions, taking your waist and gently lifting and then laying you flat across the couch, crawling over the top of you. âThatâs not good enough, is it?â His breath is warm against your skin, his eyes darting from your eyes to your lips.
You find yourself grinning, completely obsessed with your boyfriend. âI suppose it isnât,â you gasp the second the words leave your lips, his mouth on yours with a tender, slow and sensual kiss.
âLetâs fix that,â Crosshairâs lips press a final kiss to your neck before he slides lower, his gaze never leaving yours as he settles between your legs. Youâre already breathless, anticipation tingling through your veins. His movements are deliberate but unhurried, as if savoring the effect he has on you.
He hooks a finger around the side of your panties, pulling them aside with a casual ease that sends a shiver up your spine. His eyes darken as he takes in the sight of you, his usual sharp demeanor softened by the affection in his gaze.
âRelax,â he murmurs, his voice a low rasp as he leans in closer. The word is both a command and a promise. Then, without breaking eye contact, he dips his head, his lips brushing your inner thigh before his mouth finds exactly where you need him.
His touch is slow, precise, completely different from his usual rough and demanding approach. The contrast sends waves of pleasure through you, and you canât help but melt into the couch, your body responding eagerly to his attention. He takes his time, his tongue moving in smooth, deliberate strokes that drive you wild while keeping you tethered.
You gasp softly, arching into his touch, your fingers tangling in his hair as he continues to work you with a patience thatâs almost agonising. âSo, beautiful.â He moans into your clit.
He seems completely focused on drawing out every bit of tension, coaxing your pleasure higher and higher with each careful movement. Every kiss, every flick of his tongue is calculated, designed to make you feel like youâre the center of his world.
Unable to resist the pull, you reach for the hem of your top and tug it off, tossing it aside. Crosshair doesnât miss a beatâhis hands are quick to slide up your torso, fingers grazing your sensitive skin as he cups your breasts. His thumbs brush over your nipples, sending electric sparks of pleasure through you as his mouth continues its unhurried rhythm below.
You moan his name, your voice laced with both need and admiration. He hums against you in response, the vibration adding another layer of sensation that has you clutching the couch cushions, completely lost in the pleasure heâs giving you.
After what feels like an eternity of bliss, he finally shifts, moving back up your body with slow, languid kisses, each one lingering as if heâs savoring your taste. He presses his lips to yours, letting you taste yourself on his tongue before he whispers against your mouth, âI told you, Iâm not done yet.â
Your breath hitches as he pulls back just enough to reach down and free himself. He takes his time, positioning himself between your legs, his hands sliding up your thighs to hold you steady as he aligns himself with you. But before he moves, he locks eyes with you, his gaze filled with an intensity that makes your heart race.
âIâm going to take all that tension away,â he promises, his voice rough with desire, but thereâs a softness there tooâa genuine care that makes you feel cherished, not just desired. âJust let me take care of you.â
As he slowly enters you, every inch deliberate and controlled, you feel the world narrow down to just this momentâthe warmth of his body, the steady rhythm of his breathing, and the way he fills you completely. His movements are slow but powerful, every thrust purposeful, designed to make you feel every bit of him. Itâs intimate, soothing, and completely overwhelming in the best way.
He keeps whispering soft praises, his voice a rough murmur in your ear. âThatâs it⊠just like that⊠youâre doing so good for me.â His hands roam your body, caressing your skin as if heâs grounding you in the here and now, making sure you stay connected and completely focused on him.
His pace is steady, as if he has all the time in the galaxy to show you exactly how much he cares. The dirty talk flows naturally, his words laced with affection. âYouâre perfect like this⊠so beautiful when you let go.â
The way he moves, the way he speaksâitâs all meant to draw you further into this shared moment, making you forget about the stress and exhaustion from earlier. The tension in your muscles, the weight on your mind, all dissolve under the weight of his attention.
As the pleasure builds, you can feel yourself falling apart in the best way, and heâs right there with you, guiding you through it with whispered reassurances and gentle touches. When you finally reach your peak, heâs watching you with a look thatâs both possessive and full of awe, like heâs proud of how youâve given yourself over to him completely.
âCâCrosshairâŠmmm, Iâm goinâ to cum.â You rasp, your back arching into him as stars begin to blur your vision.
He doesnât stop until you do. Letting you ride out your orgasm on his cock until youâre fully sated. He reaches his own high, panting your name softly before he pulls out and spurts his velvet white seed all over your stomach and breasts.
As your body relaxes and becomes loose in his embrace, he leans over you and places a tender kiss to your lips as he holds you close, letting you bask in the aftermath.
When you finally catch your breath, he gives you that familiar smirk, his voice filled with smug satisfaction. âNow⊠howâs that for taking the tension away?â
You canât help but laugh softly, feeling lighter than you have in days. âMore than enough,â you whisper, still wrapped in his arms, grateful for the way he always knows exactly how to care for you.
That is the distraction you definitely needed today.
