Killua my beloved.
It was a nice bright morning, perfect orange rays shining in your face, Slowly waking you up. You stir in your sleep before finally accepting the fact you have to wake up and begin to slowly kick off your covers and place a gentle kiss on your boyfriend's head before scooting to the edge of the bed before getting caught by a firm veiny hand.
"Where ya going babe? Lay back down" his eyes were still closed but he was wide awake when it came to you. You gently ruffled his hair and let out a sigh.
"Go back to sleep kill, I'm just getting ready for the day." You say lightly pat his hand for him to release you but he just groans and slithers his hand down your body until it eventually gets tangled in the covers.
As you get out of bed you stretch and try to be quiet but we all know the grown man noises we make in the morning (plus the little shake) you approach the bathroom and begin to turn on the water for a shower. You lock the door behind you before turning on some music and stepping in while Killua tugs the covers over his head.
The warm water cascades down your soft skin and sinks into every crack and crevice through your hair. The soapy bubbles clinging on perfectly to your round mounds the steam exits the shower when you do and you dry off with a nice baby blue towel that hung from a silver rack.
You took a deep breath and the moment you finished you opened your eyes and noticed the extra pair of hands on your body.
"Kil!?"
He tightens his grip and rests his head on your shoulder and sleepily eyes you in the long mirror.
"So when are we going back to bed babe?"
"So what do you do?
"I kill people"
"Type shit... THE FUCK!?"
"Yeah, for real... I just be taking people's hearts out, real shit"
*The most stank eye, confused/concerned face*
"What do you do?"
"BITCH, I AM A FUCKING REGULAR HUMAN"
"Just tell me"
"Aight I'm a bounty hunter..."
"Mhm..."
"Shut the hell up"
Basically what my next fic is about.
A Sergeant and his General. Hunter x Jedi reader. The Bad Batch
Summary: You, a Jedi who escaped Order 66, organise a romantic picnic for Hunter, but it doesnât really go as planned. Omega, Tech, Wrecker and Echo decide to spy on you two.
Warnings: Fluff. Kissing. Mentions of sex. Spoilers from season 2 episode 4 and 5.
Authorâs note: Hellooo! Today is my birthday, so I decided to finally share this x reader I was working on for weeks! I am so in love with Hunter, i couldnât not write for him. I hope you enjoy! Donât hesitate to like, reblog and tell me what you thought of it!
âââââ
Youâre a Jedi, and the former General of Clone Force 99. Since Order 66, youâve been hiding with the Bad Batch at Cidâs, completing missions together.
It was just after going on a treasure hunt with Omega and Phee that you noticed how exhausted Hunter was. Always glancing at you or Echo to help him decide. Hunter had told you about this peculiar mission with Echo where they needed to deliver 50 nerf nuggets as fast as possible. Truth was told, Cid never said who it was for. So, when Echo and Hunter arrived, they didnât expect to see eye to eye with Hondo Ohnaka who had in fact, stolen the nerf nuggets from a Hutt. In order to get paid, Echo and Hunter needed to deliver the nuggets to Hondo, who had already sold the nerf nuggets to someone else. It was supposed to be a simple mission, but Hondo promised to offer them a huge reward if they delivered the 50 nerf nuggets to his client. Hunter and Echo had accepted and almost got killed by the Hutts to deliver the nerf nuggets. The Sergeant of Clone Force 99 had told you everything while rubbing his eyes. This man desperately needed rest.

Alright Iâm bored, needing depth for my Fanfic, gonna analyze the Bad Batchâs barracks. Â
Itâs a mess, clear cut right off the start which shows how little Kaminoan discipline of cleanliness (conditioning) was in affect in these particular clones. Â
Echo has the hammock near Techâs bunk and surrounded by his equipment. Tech has hacked into the power conduits over his bunk to have all these mechanical arms and tools added so he could probably work on tinkering something by his bunk.- noted by @1fineslytherinâ. The lights here are dim, then after the Batch escapes Kamino and Crosshair moves in with his new squad the lights are restored to the typical Kaminoan illuminating fashion. This may have been done for Hunter to ease his senses, POSSIBLY. Â
As for that smell...
Wrecker has food on his bed, which has been left rotting and festering for about 206 or whatever rotations since the last time they were there. No wonder it smells. Along with a clothes line along the back wall which I guess is a step towards some sort of cleaning process? Boyâs a wreck. - I am not sorry for that pun. Â
Crosshair has a perch at the top left hand corner, it is level with Techâs workstation from across the room. He has three posters of droids on his back wall, each have distinct holes in the papers resembling the proper kill shots necessary to put down a droid. Through the holes you can see the wall that they are pinned against, he used these for practice and brought them back to look at / show off / be his intimidating toothpick suckeling self. As pointed out by @yavielin-feanarien, the center poster spells the letter âCâ in Aruebesh. He also has 2 sets of fresh blacks folded neatly sitting on his sheets. Â
I do believe given Wreckerâs messy manner and Techâs clutter, Crosshair and Hunter decided to take opposite sides to keep the room in some sort of balance. I say this because honestly I would want a roommate who is clean, not a slob, so in this kind of rooming situation I would want to be on the side with the other clean individual. But I can see why they would take opposite sides to maintain some sort of âOrderâ within the room. Â
Techâs perch. đ
-Tech states that he doesnât want to sleep next to Wreckerâs junk in their opening episode...bro use those goggles to look at your own room first. Â
-Wrecker definitely stole that couch from somewhere. Itâs a BIG couch for a BIG man such as himself. They have their bunks, benches with no backs to lean into, and crates are all that can be sat on in this room. Can definitely understand why Wrecker would bring this piece of furniture into their barracks.Â
Techâs bunk is made, and adorns his scribbles of equations. With all this wall art, makes me wonder who drew that Padme nose art in the deleted reel. đ My credits on Tech. Â
Hunterâs bunk is made and tidy. he is definitely a boot man, called it! He has medals pinned to the backboard, no idea what that thing is in the corner, it might be a canteen. Heâs got the iconic Bad Batch 99 skull on his wall, I just dig this man. Â
One last thing that I see a problem with as a collective, is that they donât bring gonky into the room with them. I like to think that because he is a defective unit that the facility would snatch him up and decommission him, or that he would be bullied by other droids. So they agree that heâs gotta remain on the ship but still! Â
Anyways....I would still like to be their shared barrack hoe. No lie. Â

Hunter is nervous.
He tries his best to hide it, keeping to himself while Tech and Echo bicker in the cockpit, but he can't ignore the butterflies in his stomach, nor the clammy hands threatening to soak through his gloves. It's ridiculous. He's faced off against far worse than this. He shouldn't be getting worked up over something so small.
But it isn't really small, not when you think about it. He hasnât seen you in months. No comms, no messages. Nothing. He knows youâre alive, and even that was a miracle. The last words he said to you were in person, when you were standing right in front of him and he told you he loved you, and he'd kissed you and then left with the promise to come back as soon as he could.
That was before the Republic fell, and every Jedi across the galaxy was marked for death. Before the purge and the Empire's reign began. Before you were forced to go into hiding on your own.
And he hasn't spoken to you since.
You haven't seen each other in months, and Hunter is terrified that the feelings aren't mutual anymore. That you've grown apart during your time away, and what he had thought was love, you now see as nothing more than a fling. He's scared you'll look at him differently, scared you won't look at him at all.
He doesn't know what he'll do if you donât want him anymore. If he loses the best thing that's ever happened to him.
It's stupid, Hunter knows that, because even if you don't love him the same way you used to, you'll still be friends. He should just be happy you're alive and not worrying about something so trivial as his emotions, but he can't help it. He can't shake the feeling, and it's eating him up inside.
A hand settles on his shoulder, and he jumps.
Hunter hasnât been startled like that in ages, not since he was a cadet, but here he is, nearly falling out of his seat at the sudden contact. It takes him a moment to get over his shock, his heart pounding, before he looks up to see Wrecker looking down at him with a frown.
"Hey, we're almost there," Wrecker says, his voice uncharacteristically soft, and Hunter swallows the lump in his throat.
"I'm fine," he says, but it comes out rough. He clears his throat, tries again. "I'm fine."
Wreckerâs eyebrows raise, and Hunter realizes a moment too late Wrecker never asked how he was doing. But his brother doesn't call him out on it, only gives him a look, one that Hunter recognizes as his attempt to look serious.
âYou sure?â
"Yeah," Hunter replies automatically. He can feel the anxiety creeping into his gut, and he pushes it down, looking away. "Why wouldnât I be?â
"I dunno," Wrecker shrugs, leaning back against the bulkhead. "You've been real tense all day."
Hunter sighs. He should have known Wrecker would notice something was wrong, even if the others hadn't. He'd always been perceptive, despite what people thought of him, and Hunterâs never been able to get away with hiding his feelings, not even when they were kids.
"I just..." he hesitates, wondering how to explain his feelings without making himself seem pathetic. Wrecker might not care, but Hunter still has his pride. He still has the strong desire to protect you, to keep you secret and safe. He knows Wrecker would never betray his trust, but still, he doesn't want to admit how anxious he's been, or how much the anticipation is killing him.
"It's nothing," Hunter decides. He turns back to look out the viewport through the doors of the cockpit. Theyâll be landing in a few minutes, and he doesn't want to miss the moment you step into view. "Just... worried, is all."
"What for?"
"I..."
He can't say it, can't get the words past his lips, but the hand on his shoulder squeezes gently, and the unspoken encouragement makes the admission easier.
"It's been a long time," Hunter says finally, and the rest comes tumbling out of him, unable to be held back anymore, âWe havenât seen her in months, Wrecker. What if she's... I donât know. Things have changed, is all. For her. For us."
"So?" Wrecker scoffs, and his dismissal of the problem only makes Hunter feel worse. He scowls, glaring up at his brother.
"So," he echoes, trying to sound stern, but he can't even bring himself to look mad, not really. His shoulders slump, the fight leaving him, and he looks away. "It might not be the same anymore."
For a moment, the silence is deafening, but then Wrecker lets out a laugh, loud enough to echo throughout the ship, and Hunter bristles, his eyes darting to the cockpit. Tech and Echo are still arguing about the finer details of landing, but he doesn't doubt they can hear every word they're saying.
"What?" Hunter snaps, glaring at his brother, but Wrecker only laughs harder.
"I'm pretty sure she won't have changed that much," he says, nudging Hunter's shoulder hard enough to make him sway. "I bet she's gonna be so happy to see us, she'll probably forget how to talk. Just like last time."
Hunter huffs, but he can't help the twitch of his lips at the memory of your first meeting, of how nervous you'd been, unable to string two words together without stumbling over your own tongue. You always did tend to trip over your own words when you were flustered.Â
You had been rendered speechless after he'd told you about his feelings for you, your face flushed red, mouth hanging open in surprise, and he hadn't been able to keep from grinning at your reaction. You couldnât form a single sentence until after you'd kissed him, and by then, it was his turn to be caught off guard.
He can remember the look on your face like it was yesterday, and the thought of seeing you again, of seeing your eyes light up as you smile up at him, fills him with a familiar warmth. He wants so badly to believe that your reunion will go well, that things haven't changed and that your relationship is the same, but a part of him, the pessimistic part that's kept him alive all these years, knows that it can't possibly be true.Â
And Wrecker has no idea what you mean to him, because Hunter has never told him, has never told any of them. You're his secret, his one solace in the galaxy, the one thing he keeps from his brothers, the only thing he's ever wanted that's completely his.
And you were taken from him.
It hurts just thinking about it, knowing you were alone, afraid, with no one to turn to for help, while Hunter was hundreds of thousands of parsecs away. They'd spent weeks trying to find you after the Empire was established, scouring the holonet and every contact he could find, but it was like you had fallen off the face of the galaxy.
Hunter had never felt so helpless in his life.
So yes, he's a little scared of how this is going to play out. You were taken from him once, and it broke his heart. He's terrified that if you don't want him anymore, he won't survive losing you a second time.
"Yeah," Hunter murmurs, glancing out the window. Your home planet is starting to take shape in the viewport, the blue and green and brown and white all blending together. "You're probably right."
Wrecker chuckles, patting his shoulder.
"You know I am," Wrecker says cheerfully, and then he's walking away, back towards the cockpit to interrupt the debate Tech and Echo are having.
Hunter stares after him, not sure if he should be offended by the comment or not. He chooses not to dwell on it, pushing himself out of his chair to follow his brother. Tech spares them a quick glance, rolling his eyes when he sees Wrecker is already pushing his way into his space.
"Would you mind," he grumbles, elbowing the bigger clone, but Wrecker is unfazed, squeezing into the small space behind Tech's chair.
"Nah," he says, grinning down at him.
"Then could you at least wait until we've landed?"
"Where's the fun in that?"
"It would certainly make things less complicated."
"Guys, come on," Echo groans, his head hitting the back of his seat. "We're almost there."
"And what a relief that will be," Tech grumbles, pushing his goggles up his nose, and he looks at Hunter, his brow raised. "What is the matter with you?"
"Nothing," Hunter says, but he's a little too fast to reply, and Tech doesn't buy it. His gaze turns suspicious, but he doesn't push. Instead, he shoves Wrecker's hands away from the controls and starts his descent, taking the ship down in a controlled spiral towards the planet's surface.
Omega drops into the seat beside him and secures her restraints, and Hunter follows suit, though he can't help the nervous energy building in his limbs. He can't keep still, his fingers tapping an unsteady rhythm against his thigh, and when Omega's small hand covers his, he startles.
"Are you excited?" she asks him, and Hunter hesitates for a moment before he nods.
"Yeah, kid," he answers, and it's not a lie. Not really. He is excited, in his own way. "I'm glad we get to see her."
"Me too," Omega smiles as she pulls her hand away, and she turns to watch the clouds disappear as they sink below the atmosphere. "I can't wait to meet her."
"She's gonna love you," Wrecker says, his arms braced on Tech's chair. "You're gonna love her, too. She's real nice."
"Really?"
"Oh, yeah," Hunter replies, leaning back in his seat. He can't keep the fondness out of his voice when he speaks, the memory of your laugh echoing in his head. "She's one of a kind."
Tech glances over his shoulder. "It has been some time since we last saw her," he says, and Hunter feels his heart stutter in his chest. He knows Tech doesn't mean anything by it, but he can't help but hear the implication in his words.
It's been a long time, and people change.
"Well," Echo says, turning in his seat to grin at Hunter. "Let's hope she hasn't forgotten all about us."
Hunter swallows the lump in his throat and forces a smile, nodding along with the rest of them, but he can't ignore the pit in his stomach. He wants so desperately to believe they're right, that your reunion will go well and it won't be awkward, that everything will be just like it used to, but no matter how hard he tries, he can't shake the feeling.
"It'll be... nice, to see her again," Tech says. "Even if it has been awhile."
"Aw, you missed her too, huh?" Wrecker grins, clapping a hand on Tech's shoulder, who swats him away irritably.
"She was a competent general, and she is a valuable ally," Tech replies, adjusting his goggles. "I didn't say I missed her. Simply that it will be nice to see her."
"It's okay to admit you like her, you know," Echo teases. "We won't tell anyone."
Tech shoots him a glare, but he doesn't say anything. He's focused on the descent now, the ground growing closer and closer, and when they break through the cloud cover, the land below them comes into focus.
Hunter leans forward in his seat, eyes straining against the sun. You live on a small colony in the southern hemisphere, surrounded by a large forest. It's isolated, and perfect for someone trying to lay low, but it's also a bit difficult to find, and Hunter doesn't spot your house until they're nearly on top of it.
It's small, a cabin tucked neatly among the trees, with a yard and a path that leads to a dock down by the lake. There's a ship parked outside, a tiny thing, and Tech guides the Marauder down beside it.
"There she is!" Wrecker booms, pointing out the viewport. Hunter stands up, ignoring the nausea building in his stomach, and scans the house.
And there you are.
You're sitting on the porch, a datapad in your lap, and you glance up with a hand shielding your eyes. It's impossible to make out your expression, but when the Marauder slows to land, you're already standing and hurrying down the dirt path towards them.
It's been so long since he's seen you, and even though he knows your face, has it memorized and replayed in his head so many times it's burned into his mind, the sight of you is enough to knock the wind out of him. You're smiling, waving up at the ship, and you look so happy that he can't stop himself from mirroring your expression.
You're here.
Hunter has dreamed of this moment for months, the day he gets to see you again, and the reality of it is even better than he'd hoped. He's barely aware of his feet moving, taking him towards the hatch as soon as the ship has touched down.
"Hunter?" Wrecker's voice is far away, barely registering in Hunter's mind as he practically runs towards the exit. "You okay?"
"Fine," he calls over his shoulder, his hand slamming into the button. The door hisses as it slides open, and a rush of warm, fresh air washes over him. The second his feet hit the ground, he's moving, his legs carrying him as fast as he can.
"Hey!" Wrecker shouts, but Hunter doesn't answer. He's halfway down the path, his eyes locked on your figure as you hurry towards him, and when you're close enough to touch, he's pulling you into his arms.
Your hands slide around his neck, fingers tangling in his hair as he crushes you to his chest. He doesn't realize he's crying until he hears you whisper his name, but then you're laughing, soft and beautiful, and all he can do is hold you tighter, your scent enveloping him as he breathes you in. He can't keep himself from pressing his lips to the skin behind your ear, needing to feel the warmth of you, the solidness, the realness of you here, alive, with him.
"Hunter," you whisper, and his name has never sounded so sweet. Your voice, your hands, the sound of your breath as it ghosts across his skin, the way you say his name. All of it is like a balm to his soul, soothing his worry, and for a moment, everything feels right again.
Hunter lifts his head and cups your cheeks in his hands, forcing you to look at him, and you do.
Your eyes are shining, tears brimming along the edges, and when you blink, they spill over. He thumbs them away, smiling so wide his cheeks ache.
"Hi," he whispers. You laugh, a sob escaping with it, and he feels his heart soar at the sound.
"Hi," you say back, and then you're surging forward, capturing his lips with yours.
It's a desperate kiss, the kind that says how much you've missed each other, how afraid you were of never seeing the other again. It's the first kiss you've shared in months, and it's the best damn kiss Hunter's ever had. The world narrows down to just the two of you, and nothing else exists, not the trees or the ship or his family watching from the hatch, their jaws hanging open.
It's just him and you, finally, blissfully, reunited.
He kisses you hard, and you return the pressure, clutching him close. His arms slip around your waist, lifting you off the ground for a moment, and you gasp against his mouth, laughing when he sets you down again.
"Miss me?" you ask, a teasing note to your voice, and Hunter pulls back just enough to meet your eyes.
"Yeah," he replies, and then he's kissing you again, softer this time. Gentler. His lips move against yours, slow and deliberate, and your fingers tighten their grip in his hair.Â
He doesn't know how long it's been since he's started kissed you, or how long you've been kissing him, but it doesn't matter. It's not enough, could never be enough. He needs more of you, needs every part of you pressed against him, so close he can feel your heartbeat.
You hum, your hand moving to cup the back of his head, and the kiss deepens. Hunter's hands drift, sliding down the curve of your spine until his palms are pressed flat against the small of your back, and he pulls you closer. Your body molds to his perfectly, and you're warm and soft and so unbelievably real, and he never wants to let you go.
"Uh..."
The sudden intrusion startles him, and he pulls away from the kiss with a jerk, looking over his shoulder. The rest of his squad is staring at him, dumbfounded, and he can't keep the blush from creeping up his neck.
"Uh," he repeats, his face flushing. "Hey."
Wrecker's jaw is hanging open, and so is Tech's. Hunter doesn't think he's ever seen either of his brothers at a loss for words.
"We, uh..." Hunter clears his throat, glancing back at you. Your cheeks are flushed, lips swollen from the kiss, but you're grinning up at him, your eyes dancing. You give him a little nod, a silent permission to tell them the truth, and his heart flutters. "We were going to tell you, but things... got in the way."
Wrecker is the first to recover, his surprise shifting into a massive smile.
"I knew it!" he yells, pumping his fist in the air. "I told ya, didn't I? Didn't I?"
"That you did," Tech replies. His mouth is still open, but he closes it quickly, pushing his goggles up his nose before reaching up to scratch the back of his head. "Well, this is... certainly unexpected."
"That's an understatement," Echo mutters. He glances at Hunter, his brow raised. "So, how long has this been going on?"
"Uh..." Hunter's eyes dart to you, but you only smile at him. He swallows the lump in his throat and takes a deep breath. "It's been a couple years."
"A couple years?"
"Yeah."
"Years," Echo repeats. "Right. Okay."
"You could have told us," Tech says. He's looking at Hunter now, his face impassive, but Hunter can read the hurt in his eyes hidden behind the mask of indifference. "We wouldn't have betrayed your trust."
"I know," Hunter sighs, running a hand over his head. "We just... we wanted to keep it quiet."
"It was my idea," you say, and Hunter's surprised to see you look guilty. Your eyes are fixed on the ground, and he watches the way your bottom lip wobbles before you suck it into your mouth. You look up at him through your lashes, and he offers you a reassuring smile. You return it, but it's hesitant. "The Order's views on attachment were... a little different, to say the least. It would have put both of us at risk if anyone found out. So we kept it secret."
"Well, now you don't have to," Wrecker grins.
"No, I suppose not," you reply, smiling at him, but there's a sadness to your expression that makes Hunter's chest tighten. He can only imagine how difficult the last few months have been for you, what it's like to be in hiding, constantly looking over your shoulder. His arms ache to wrap around you again, to pull you into his chest and hold you close, to protect you from everything and everyone.
But he can't.
The Empire is everywhere, always watching. The war might be over, but the danger isn't gone, not yet. Not for him, and not for you.
"Can I come out now?" a voice voice drifts from the ship, and Hunter looks up, surprised. His eyes land on Omega, her arms crossed over her chest. She looks irritated, a frown pulling at her lips, and he chuckles.
"Yeah, kid," he says, nodding his head towards the ramp. "Come on."
Omega wastes no time in running out of the ship, her irritation forgotten in her excitement. She skids to a stop a few feet away, her eyes wide as she stares at you. You kneel down, a warm smile spreading across your face, and Hunter feels his heart squeeze in his chest.
"Hey," you say softly. "You must be Omega. I've heard a lot about you."
Omega steps forward, holding her hand out for you to shake, and you take it.
"Nice to meet you," she says politely.
"And you," you reply, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before letting go. Your eyes are soft as you study her face, a fondness to your expression that Hunter's only seen a few times.
He knows how much you love children. The Order never allowed its members to have families, but that hasn't stopped you from falling in love with kids everywhere you go. He's seen the way your eyes light up when you're around them, how gently you speak to them, like they're the most important people in the galaxy.Â
He knows it's just the way you are, but sometimes, he wonders if it's something more. If maybe, someday, you'd want to have kids of your own.
And the thought terrifies him.
Not because he doesn't want a family with you, but because the world is changing, and he's not sure there's any place for it. You're in hiding, and he's a traitor to the Republic. How would it ever work?
He knows you wouldn't care about the dangers, though. You'd risk everything for a chance at a normal life, a family, and while he'd give anything for that too, he doesn't think he can allow himself to get his hopes up.
Not now. Not yet.
He's lost in thought, his gaze drifting to the trees surrounding the house, when a tug on his arm brings him back. You're looking up at him, an eyebrow raised, and when he blinks, you roll your eyes, a fond smile twitching at your lips.
"Sorry," he murmurs. "What did you say?"
"I was asking how long you're staying," you repeat, but he can tell by the look on your face you know what's going on in his head. You're giving him a moment to compose himself, a distraction to keep him from slipping into another spiral.
It's a common occurrence these days.
"Well," Hunter starts, glancing at the rest of his team. "We're kind of... between jobs, right now."
"That's putting it lightly," Echo scoffs.
"So we figured we could use a little vacation," Hunter finishes. He looks back at you. "If you'll have us."
"Of course I will," you smile, and Hunter doesn't miss the way your shoulders relax, the relief in your eyes. "Stay as long as you want."
"We don't want to intrude," Hunter says, his gaze softening. "If you need some space, we understand. We canâ"
"Don't be ridiculous," you huff, nudging his shoulder. "I'd love to have you."
"Really?"
"Yeah, of course," you nod, glancing at the others. "All of you."
"Good," Hunter breathes, unable to keep the sigh of relief from escaping his lips. "I didn't really wanna leave anyway."
"Good," you say, leaning into his side. You rest your head against his shoulder, and Hunter's arm wraps around you almost automatically, pulling you against him. "I've missed you."
"Yeah," Hunter says softly. "Me too."
"Oh, yeah," Wrecker grins. "He hasn't shut up about you."
"Wrecker," Hunter hisses.
"No, really," Tech nods, adjusting his goggles. "Ever since we lost contact, he hasn't stopped talking about you."
"Not that he wasn't always talking about her," Echo teases.
"Hey," Hunter protests, but he can feel his cheeks burning, and he knows the blush is starting to creep up his neck. You're smiling, a knowing glint in your eye as you glance up at him, and Hunter rolls his eyes. "They're exaggerating."
"We are not," Tech says, frowning at him.
"Maybe not," Echo smirks, his gaze settling on you. "But now we know why he's been so weird about seeing you again."
"He's been weird?" you ask. You're trying to hold back a laugh, but Hunter can see the mirth in your eyes.
"He hasn't stopped pacing for days."
"He nearly fell over his own feet trying to get off the ship."
"Oh, yeah, he was nervous all right," Wrecker chuckles, crossing his arms over his chest. "Never seen him like that before. I was startin' to get worried."
"Guys," Hunter grumbles. "Come on."
"Well," you smile, patting his chest. "I'm glad you came. All of you."
"Us too," Omega says. Her face is scrunched up, like she's trying not to laugh. "Hunter was so nervous he forgot how to breathe."
"Alright, that's enough," Hunter huffs. He can feel his ears burning, and he shoots Omega a pointed look. "Everyone, inside."
"Aw, butâ"
"Now," Hunter snaps, cutting Wrecker off. He's not mad, not really, but he can't help the embarrassment. "We'll be there in a minute."
Wrecker opens his mouth to protest, but Echo nudges him, nodding his head towards the house. Tech doesn't wait for either of them, heading inside without another word, and Wrecker reluctantly follows after him, grumbling under his breath. Omega casts one last look over her shoulder, waving at you before disappearing inside.
The silence that settles over the two of you is heavy, and Hunter lets out a long breath. He runs a hand over his hair, avoiding your eyes.
"I can't believe they told you that," he mutters, but he can feel your gaze on him, the smile in your eyes, and his irritation fades.
"They're only teasing," you say, resting a hand on his cheek. You brush your thumb over his skin, and he closes his eyes, letting out a shaky breath. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," he replies, opening his eyes to look at you. Your smile is soft, gentle, and he melts under your gaze. "Just a little overwhelmed."
"Me too," you chuckle, dropping your hand. He quickly grabs it, pulling it to his chest, and your expression shifts. "I've been so worried, Hunter. I thought..."
"I know," he whispers. His grip tightens on your hand. "I've missed you so much."
"I missed you too," you whisper back. Your voice wavers, and Hunter tugs on your arm, bringing you closer.
"I'm here now," he murmurs, tilting his head down. "I'm not going anywhere, I promise."
You nod, but the fear is still shining in your eyes. He knows that feeling all too well, the uncertainty, the constant worry, the doubt. And it's hard to believe him, he knows, when the past few months have been nothing but fear and anxiety. But he's determined to make it better, to do whatever it takes to ease your mind, even if it's just for a little while.
He leans forward, pressing his forehead to yours, and the contact makes you sigh.
"I'm gonna take care of you," he says softly, bringing a hand up to cup your cheek. He strokes the skin with his thumb, his fingers gentle, and his heart stutters in his chest at the way your eyes flutter closed. "You don't have to worry anymore. I'll make sure nothing happens to you, I promise."
"You don't have toâ"
"I know," he cuts you off, brushing his nose against yours. "But I'm going to. We're gonna protect you, sweetheart. All of us."
"Thank you," you whisper, opening your eyes. He's startled by the emotion swimming in your gaze, the tears pooling along the edges, and the sight breaks his heart. âBut I canât put you guys in danger. The Empireââ
"The Empire won't do anything," he assures you. "You're safe. We'll keep you safe."
"But what ifâ"
"Listen," he murmurs, stroking his thumb over your cheek. You suck your lip into your mouth, chewing on the flesh, and he gently pries it from your teeth. "None of that. I won't let anything happen to you. Neither will they. You're part of the team, and we take care of our own. No matter what."
"You don't have to do this, Hunter."
"I know," he says, his voice low. He doesn't want to push, doesn't want to force you to come with them, but he needs you to believe him. Needs you to understand. "But I want to. Please. Let me take care of you. It'll be good for all of us."
You're quiet for a moment, your brow furrowed, but then you let out a soft sigh, your shoulders slumping, and your eyes drop to the ground.
"Okay," you whisper. "Okay."
"Hey," Hunter says. His free hand tilts your chin up, forcing you to look at him. "Trust me, alright? You're safe now."
You nod, but you don't look convinced. He sighs, leaning forward until his lips brush against yours, featherlight, barely there.
"We can talk more later," he murmurs. He's desperate to kiss you again, his whole body aching for it, but he doesn't want to rush you. He's willing to wait, no matter how badly he wants you. "If you're okay with it."
"Yes," you breathe, your hands coming up to clutch at his armor, and you press a soft kiss to his jaw. "I'd like that."
He lets out a shaky breath, fighting the urge to press his hips into yours, but then your hands slide up over his shoulders to tangle in his hair, and he groans. You chuckle, a sweet, breathy sound that has his blood singing, and Hunter's restraint crumbles.
He kisses you, slow and deliberate, and his hands are moving on their own. He lifts you into his arms, and you wrap your legs around his waist, pulling him closer. You're pliant under his touch, letting him guide the kiss, and he licks at your lips, begging for entrance. You give it easily, and his tongue sweeps into your mouth, curling against yours.
His hips press against yours, and your body is hot against him, so soft and perfect. You taste so good, and feel even better, and the sounds you're making, the little whines and gasps, are driving him crazy.
"I'm not letting you out of my sight," he murmurs, pulling away from the kiss. He's breathing hard, his pulse thrumming, and he can't keep the smirk off his face. You look beautiful, flushed and breathless, and his desire spikes when your fingers tug at his hair.
"Fine with me," you smile.
"Good." He kisses you again, deep and slow, and his hands drift lower. "I've got a lot of time to make up for."
"Mmm," you hum, your head falling back. Hunter can't resist the urge to kiss your throat, his teeth grazing over the delicate skin, and you shudder. A breathy moan falls from your lips, soft and quiet, but Hunter hears it. He always does.
"Fuck," he growls. "You sound so pretty."
"Hunter," you sigh. His name is the sweetest thing he's ever heard, and he has to fight the urge to take you right then and there.
"We should go inside," he murmurs, brushing his lips over the shell of your ear.
"Mmhmm," you reply. You're nuzzling his neck, your hot breath sending shivers down his spine, and his hold on you tightens.
"Sweetheart," he groans. "I can't think straight when you do that."
"That's the idea."
"Come on," he says. He's reluctant to put you down, but he does, his hands lingering on your waist for a moment.
You look at him, your eyes bright, and your smile makes his chest ache. He wants so badly to stay with you, to pull you into his lap and bury himself in your warmth, to have the freedom to kiss you, touch you, love you, without having to worry about getting caught. He's never been able to do that before, always keeping you a secret, always worried about being found out, but the Order doesn't exist anymore, and now he has the chance.
And he's going to take it.
He's not going to hide his feelings anymore. You deserve more than that.
You reach up and touch his cheek, the gentle gesture enough to calm his racing heart.
"Let's go," you say, your thumb stroking over his skin. "Before they get suspicious."
"I'm pretty sure they're already suspicious," he chuckles, glancing towards the house.
"It's a little obvious, isn't it?"
"Yeah," he admits, his face heating up. "A little."
You laugh, taking his hand in yours. You're leading him towards the door, but he stops, giving you a gentle tug.
"Hey," he murmurs, waiting for you to turn around. You do, a small smile tugging at your lips, and he can't help the way his eyes dart down to your mouth, the memory of your kiss sending a thrill down his spine.
"What?"
"I love you," he whispers. He's not sure why he says it. You know how he feels, you've known it for a long time, but something about it feels different, now. Like it means more than it did before.
Maybe it does.
Your expression softens, the corners of your mouth twitching upwards, and he can see the happiness in your eyes, the fondness. It's a look he's familiar with, one he's seen many times, but the knowledge that he can see it as much as he wants now, without having to hide or sneak around, makes his heart flutter in his chest.
"I love you, too," you whisper, a smile spreading across your face.
"Come here," he says. You're in his arms again before you can say a word, his mouth finding yours, and you're melting into his touch, the kiss deepening, turning desperate. He has to pull away before his brain completely shuts down, and when he does, he rests his forehead against yours, breathing heavily.
"Later," he promises, his voice a rasp.
"Later," you agree.
He lets out a long breath, nodding his head once before stepping back. His hand slides down to rest at the small of your back, and he gives you a gentle nudge, nodding towards the house. You smile, reaching up to straighten his bandana, and Hunter can't help but chuckle at the action.
"Lead the way," you say.
"Always," he grins, and then you're walking up the path, the warmth of the sun enveloping you as you step onto the porch.
The door slides open before Hunter can even reach for the panel, Wrecker's smiling face poking out.
"Oh, good," he says, looking at the two of you. "I was beginning to think you'd forgotten about us."
"Of course not," you reply.
Wrecker's grin widens, and then he's stepping aside, his arm sweeping towards the inside of the house.
"After you, General."
"Thanks," you smile, nodding your head in appreciation. Hunter follows behind, his hand hovering at the base of your spine. Wrecker doesn't miss the movement, his eyebrows shooting up, but he doesn't say anything. He just watches, a knowing look in his eyes, and Hunter rolls his own.
"Not a word," he warns.
"Wasn't gonna say anything," Wrecker smirks, his gaze flickering to the hand resting on your back. "Not sure I need to."
"Don't start," Hunter sighs. He slows to a stop, crossing his arms over his chest, and you keep walking, a laugh spilling from your lips as you head towards the kitchen.
"Hey," Wrecker raises his hands in surrender, but the grin doesn't fade. "I'm happy for you. Both of you."
Hunter blinks. "Thanks," he says slowly.
"I mean it." Wrecker smiles. He claps a hand on Hunter's shoulder, a silent confirmation of his words, and Hunter returns the gesture. "You two deserve each other."
"Yeah," Hunter says, looking over at you. You're already in the kitchen, Tech at your side, and the two of you are talking rapidly at each other with Omega sitting on the counter between you. Tech's arms are waving wildly, a datapad gripped tightly in his hands, and you're grinning at him, the excitement obvious on your face. Echo is stirring a pot of something, the delicious smell of dinner drifting through the house, and he chimes in every now and then, his smile growing wider each time.
Omega glances up at him, and she gives him a little wave, her grin so wide her cheeks must ache. Hunter smiles back, his heart swelling, and he can't help but think, maybe everything is going to be alright.
You look so at home with his family, like you've always been a part of it, like you've always belonged there. And maybe you have. Maybe, this was where you were supposed to end up all along.
It's funny, how things work out sometimes. How, even after losing so much, even after having nearly everything taken from him, he somehow still managed to find something good.
"I guess we do,â Hunter finally replies, his gaze settling on you. He can't tear his eyes away, can't stop looking at the way the setting sun dances over your face, lighting you up in the most beautiful glow, the way your smile makes his heart beat faster.
Wrecker follows his gaze, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards. "So, does this mean she agreed to stay with us?"
"Yeah," Hunter sighs, unable to keep the smile off his face. "Yeah, she is."
"Good," Wrecker says. His smile widens. "That's good."
"It's going to be hard, keeping things quiet," Hunter says, glancing at his brother. "We've got a target on our backs, and I'm not sure how much longer we can hide. The Empire will find us eventually, and when they doâ"
"It's okay," Wrecker interrupts, holding his hand up. "I know. But it's worth it, right? To keep her safe? And Omega?â
"Yeah," Hunter says without hesitation. "It is."
"Then we'll do whatever we have to," Wrecker replies. He nods towards the kitchen. "They'll understand. âSides, Omega's gotta have a mom at some point. Might as well be her."
Hunter's breath catches, his chest tightening. "Wreckerâ"
"You're happy," he continues, ignoring Hunter's protest. "You haven't been happy since... well, not since I can remember. And she makes you happy. And she's good with the kid, too. I can see how much she loves you, and how much you love her. So, what's the problem?"
Hunter stares at him, the surprise clear on his face.
"I, uh... nothing. There's no problem," he stammers, his brow furrowing.
"Good," Wrecker grins. He nudges him with his elbow, giving him a wink. "She's good for you, Sarge. And we're not gonna let anyone take that away from you. No matter what happens."
"Thanks," Hunter replies. He swallows the lump in his throat and blinks back the sudden moisture in his eyes. Wrecker squeezes his shoulder, smiling down at him, and Hunter takes a shaky breath.
"Don't mention it," Wrecker says. "Come on. Iâm starving."
"You're always hungry."
"Well, yeah," he scoffs. "We gotta keep our strength up, right? Especially if we're gonna be fighting off Imperials."
He mimes a punch, his fist slamming into his palm, and Hunter chuckles.
"Yeah, alright," he agrees. "Let's go eat."
The two of them walk into the kitchen, Wrecker immediately making a beeline for the pot Echo is stirring, and Hunter makes his way over to where you're standing with Tech.
He stands beside you, close enough for his arm to brush against yours, but he doesn't touch you. He keeps his hands at his sides, his fingers curling into his palms, but the desire to wrap his arms around you is overwhelming.
He knows you'll let him, but it's only been a few hours, and he's afraid if he touches you again, he won't be able to stop.
Tech is explaining something to you, his hands moving rapidly as he talks, and Hunter watches, his head tilted to the side. He's only half listening to what his brother is saying, but he's content to just watch the two of you interact. You're so invested in the conversation, asking questions, listening intently as Tech answers, and Hunter can't help but smile at the sight.
"So, what do you think?"
Tech's voice startles him out of his thoughts, and he shakes his head, forcing his attention back to the present.
"Uh... sorry," he mutters, glancing at you. "What was that?"
âTech wants to gut my ship for parts like a bantha carcass," you huff. You're smirking at him, amusement shining in your eyes. "He's trying to convince me to let him take it apart."
"It's not as though we have much use for it," Tech argues. "And besides, it would give me something to do while we're here."
âArenât you all supposed to be relaxing?â
âI happen to find tinkering with electronics quite relaxing," Tech replies. "Especially old ones. And it will keep me busy, which means I wonât be pestering you. So really, you would be doing yourself a favor by allowing me to do this.â
Hunter smirks. âHeâs got a point.â
âTraitor,â you mutter, nudging his shoulder.
He nudges you back, his grin widening, and you roll your eyes.
"Alright, fine," you sigh.
"Excellent," Tech smiles. He turns his attention back to the datapad in his hands, his eyes darting across the screen. âOmega, would you like to help me dismantle this ship? It will give you a chance to learn more about the components of different models."
"Sure," she nods. She jumps down from the counter, landing with a soft thud.Â
Hunter watches the two of them disappear into the living room before looking at you. You're smiling softly, your head tilted to the side, and he can't stop his gaze from wandering, taking in every detail of your face.
"You're staring," you murmur. You look at him out of the corner of your eye, and the hint of a smile tugging at your lips betrays your feigned irritation.
"Canât help it,â he replies. He reaches out, his fingers brushing against your hip. The simple touch is enough to send a spark shooting through him, a warmth blooming low in his stomach, and his grip tightens, pulling you closer.
"Hunter," you laugh, your eyes widening.
"Hmm?"
"We're not alone."
"We're not?" He arches an eyebrow. "Didn't notice."
"Hunter," you hiss, but there's no bite to your words, just a soft laugh. "Stop it."
"No," he grins, leaning forward to brush his lips over your cheek. You shiver, goosebumps erupting across your skin, and he feels a rush of pride at the reaction.
"You're impossible."
"Only because I can be," he murmurs, pressing another kiss to your cheek. You sigh, your eyelids fluttering shut, and Hunter can't resist the urge to brush his mouth over the soft skin, trailing gentle kisses down your neck. You let out a soft whine, the noise so quiet only he can hear it, and his body reacts instinctively, his hands tightening, his hips shifting closer.
"Hunter," you gasp, your voice low.
"You smell so good," he groans. His nose brushes against your throat, and he inhales deeply, breathing in the sweet scent. It sends a thrill through him, a burst of heat washing over his body, and he nuzzles the skin, his lips ghosting along the edge of your jaw.
He doesn't want to stop. He wants to keep going, wants to drag his mouth across every inch of you until there's no part untouched, until the taste of you is burned into his memory for good. But he's aware of the others in the room, and he forces himself to pull away. He puts some distance between you, enough so that he can breathe, but he can't bring himself to move too far away.
"Tonight," Hunter says, his voice rough. He glances over his shoulder, making sure the others are still distracted, before continuing, "I'm gonna take care of you."
"Mm," you nod. You look dazed, your cheeks flushed, and Hunter feels a surge of satisfaction knowing it's his fault. "You'd better."
"Oh, I will," he smirks. "All night, if you want."
You bite your lip, your eyes sparkling. "Promise?"
"Iâ"
"Alright, Iâm no chef, but I think itâs ready," Echo calls, Wrecker already heading towards the pot with a stack of bowls. He turns around, a spoon in one hand, and Hunter catches a glimpse of a wicked smile. "If you can pry yourselves apart long enough to eat."
"We were just talking," you argue, but your face is red, and Hunter has to bite back a grin.
"Right," Echo laughs, his gaze flickering between you. "Just talking. Got it."
"Echo," Hunter warns.
"I didn't say anything," he replies innocently. He waves his spoon at the two of you, his grin widening. "You can have your little chat after dinner.â
âEnough talking,â Wrecker groans, snatching the spoon from Echoâs hand and shoving him out of the way. "Food first."
"We'll finish this later," Hunter whispers, and you nod.
"I'll hold you to that," you whisper, brushing a kiss against his cheek before you pull away, stepping towards the counter. You glance over your shoulder at him, a sly smile curling your lips, and Hunter has to force himself not to follow after you. He waits until you're busy helping Wrecker dish out the food before moving, and even then, he makes sure to keep his distance.
It's difficult.
The need to be near you is overwhelming, and he can't stand the thought of leaving you for even a moment. But he doesn't want to crowd you, either, and he has to remind himself that you're not going anywhere.
You're here, and he's here, and nothing is going to take him away from you. Not again.
The thought settles over him, calming the ache in his chest, and he finally allows himself to relax, falling into an easy rhythm with the others as the six of you gather around the table. He takes a seat next to you, his leg pressed against yours, and his arm is draped over the back of your chair, his fingers tracing idle patterns on your skin. You lean into his side, your body fitting against his like it was made to, and the warmth of you is enough to ease the last bit of tension that's been lingering beneath the surface.
The rest of the night passes in a blur. Hunter loses track of how many times his hand drifts to your side, or his fingers slip into your own, or his lips press against your temple. Every time he does it, he expects a reaction from you, a protest or an admonishment or a roll of the eyes, but each time, you simply smile, your eyes crinkling at the corners, and he finds himself doing it again, unable to stop himself.
Itâs easy, familiar, like this is how it was always meant to be, and the fact that he can finally hold you without fear of getting caught is a relief that's impossible to put to words. There's no more hiding, no more sneaking around, no more worrying about being seen standing too close together or his hands lingering too long. It's freeing, not having to hide how he feels, not having to pretend like his feelings don't exist.
It's the most natural thing in the world.
And he's going to enjoy every second of it.
Eventually, the meal ends, the food vanishing into Wrecker's stomach, and Hunter helps you clean up while the others disappear outside. The setting sun guides them toward your ship with Tech in the lead, and Hunter watches them go, his eyes lingering on the door for a moment before returning to you. You're scrubbing at a pot, your brow furrowed in concentration, and he can't help the fond smile that spreads across his face. He leans against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest, content to watch you work.
"You're staring again," you mumble, not bothering to look at him.
"How did you know?"
"I can feel it," you chuckle. You set the pot aside and dry your hands before hanging up the towel. "I always know."
"It's not my fault," he says, pushing off the counter. Hunter closes the distance between the two of you, his hands resting on your hips. "You're hard to resist. And I can't keep my eyes off you."
"You're such a flatterer."
"It's not flattery if it's true."
You shake your head, a smile spreading across your face.
"What?"
"Nothing," you laugh. "Just... the way you're acting. It's kind of cute."
"Cute?" He frowns, his nose wrinkling. "I don't know about that."
"It is." Your arms snake around his neck, your fingers tangling in his hair, and you tilt your head to the side. "I'm used to the serious, stoic Hunter. I like this one, too."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Mmhmm," you hum. Your lips press against his jaw, a soft kiss that has his eyes fluttering shut, and his hands slide down to grip your thighs. He lifts you onto the counter, and your legs wrap around his waist, pulling him closer.
"Is that so?"
"Uh-huh," you nod, and you kiss him again. This time, it's lower, right where his pulse is jumping under his skin, and he groans, his eyes falling shut.
"I didn't know you liked him so much," he manages to say, his breath hitching.
"I love him," you murmur. "As much as the other one."
"Well," he chuckles. He pulls away just enough to look at you, his hands cradling your face. "I think I can live with that."
You lean forward, and he meets you halfway, his mouth finding yours.
It starts off slow, a lazy kiss, his hands moving from your face to tangle in your hair. But then your lips part, and the soft sound you make is enough to light a fire in his veins, and he's kissing you with everything he has, pouring all his emotion into it. You return it eagerly, matching him stroke for stroke, and when his tongue brushes against yours, the groan he lets out is so loud he can't even hear the others yelling outside.
It doesn't matter, anyway. Nothing does, except the two of you.
"Bedroom," you gasp, breaking the kiss. "Now."
"Yeah," he pants. He grabs your thighs, pulling you off the counter, and you wrap your legs around his waist, his arms hooking under your knees.
He doesn't say anything else. He can't. He just kisses you, his tongue sliding past your parted lips, and your nails dig into his shoulders, a desperate moan spilling from your throat.
He carries you through the house, navigating the halls blindly, too focused on kissing you to care where he's going. He nearly trips over a chair, but he manages to keep his balance, and you laugh, the sound vibrating against his mouth. He breaks the kiss long enough to shoot you a playful glare, and you beam back.
"In a hurry, are we?"
"You have no idea," he mutters. He kicks the door to your bedroom open, shutting it behind him with his foot, and strides across the room. "Been wanting this for too damn long."
"Mm," you sigh. You're kissing his neck now, your tongue lapping at his skin, and his pace quickens. He feels the softness of the mattress hit the back of his legs, and he sits, his hands shifting to cup your thighs.
"Missed you," he rasps as you settle into his lap. You're straddling him now, and the heat of you against him is driving him crazy. "Missed you so much."
"Missed you too," you whisper, and your hands are cupping his face, pulling him towards you. Your fingers trace the outline of his tattoo, your touch gentle, almost reverent. He closes his eyes, savoring the feeling, and his breath hitches as you brush your lips over his temple.
"I can't believe this is real," he admits, his voice low. "I keep thinking it's some kind of dream, that I'm gonna wake up and find myself back on the ship."
"It's not a dream," you promise. You press a kiss to his forehead, his cheek, his nose, and then, finally, his mouth. It's soft, chaste, but no less intense, and Hunter sighs, his hands sliding up to curl around your waist.
"You're really here," he whispers. "I didn't think..."
"I'm not going anywhere," you assure him, and the conviction in your voice makes his heart ache. Your forehead is resting against his, your lips barely an inch apart, and he can feel your breath ghosting across his skin. "I love you."
"I'm sorry," he breathes. "For not coming to you sooner. For notâ"
"Hunter, stop," you cut him off, your fingers pressing against his mouth. He quiets instantly, his gaze locked with yours. "It's not your fault. There was nothing you could've done."
"I could've tried harder," he protests. "Could've tried to find you."
"You couldn't," you sigh, shaking your head. "You know that. I didn't want to be found. I'm not even supposed to be here. If anyone finds me, I'm as good as dead."
"I won't let that happen."
"I know," you smile. Your thumbs rub gentle circles against his cheeks, and you press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. "And I love you for it. But we can't change the past. We just have to make the most of the time we have now."
"Right," he nods. He swallows the lump in his throat, trying to push away the guilt, the anger, the regret. "I just..."
"What?"
He lets out a long breath, his shoulders slumping. "Do you ever think about what it could've been like? If we hadn't lost each other? If...things had gone differently, and the war had ended the way it was supposed to?"
"Yeah," you admit, and you give him a sad smile, the corners of your mouth twitching upwards. "Sometimes."
"Me too," Hunter whispers. He pulls you closer, burying his face in your neck. You hold him there, your arms wrapping around him, and his hands drift up to clutch at the back of your shirt. He inhales deeply, taking in the scent of you, letting it fill him up, ground him.
"Sometimes I wonder," you murmur, your voice low, "what would've happened if we'd met in a different life. If we were just people, with no obligations or duties, no expectations or responsibilities. No wars, no battles, no death. Just us."
"A life together," he mumbles, the words muffled against your skin.
"Yeah," you say, and you sigh, a wistful sound that sends a pang through his chest. "A life together."
"We'd have a place like this," he says. He glances up at you, his chin resting on your chest. "A home."
You hum in agreement, leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead. "We would."
"We'd be happy," he continues. He smiles at you, a small, sad thing, and your fingers trace the curve of his lips. "We'd have a family. Maybe even kids. And we wouldn't have to hide."
"We wouldn't," you agree, a tear slipping down your cheek. He reaches up, catching it before it can fall, and brushes his thumb over your cheekbone, wiping away the dampness.
"I would've married you," he whispers. His voice breaks on the word, and he has to pause, taking a deep breath before continuing. "If I could. I would've married you, and given you everything I had."
"Hunter," you whisper, your voice breaking.
"I'm sorry," he sighs. "I justâ"
"No, no," you cut him off with a shake of your head. You kiss him again, and he melts into it, the feel of your lips against his enough to soothe the ache in his chest.
"We could still have it," he breathes, his mouth moving over your jaw, the skin so soft and warm and inviting. "We could."
"I know," you reply, and you tilt your head back, allowing him access to your neck. He nips at the sensitive skin, and you shudder, a whimper falling from your lips.
"Do you want it?" he asks, his voice low. He's not sure why he does, not sure what he wants the answer to be, but the question falls from his mouth without thought.
"More than anything," you admit, and Hunter feels his heart skip a beat.
"Then we'll make it happen," he promises. "If you'll have me."
"I already do," you whisper, and then you're kissing him again, harder this time, with more desperation, like you need to prove how much you mean it.
His hands wander, mapping out every curve, every contour, every inch of your body, and your own exploration isn't far behind, the two of you touching and caressing and stroking in a way that leaves him panting, his heart racing.
"Please," you whimper, and the sound goes straight to his cock.
"Anything," he rasps. "Whatever you want."
"I just want you."
"You have me," he breathes. "You'll always have me."
You're kissing him again, the desperation in your touch increasing with every second that passes. He feels like his entire body is on fire, like the slightest touch could set him off, and he groans into your mouth, his tongue darting out to trace the seam of your lips.
He knows what you want, and he gives it to you without hesitation, his mouth opening wide as he dips his tongue inside, his fingers digging into your hips. You gasp, and he swallows the noise, his hands gripping the fabric of your shirt.
He pulls it up and over your head, breaking the kiss for only a moment, and he takes the opportunity to drink in the sight of you, his gaze sweeping over every inch of exposed skin.
You're so beautiful, it almost hurts to look at you.
You stare back, your chest heaving, your eyes dark with lust. You're biting your lip, and his own mouth falls open, his eyes widening.
He doesn't say a word. He can't. His brain can't seem to form a coherent thought, not when you're looking at him like that, and he swallows, his eyes darting to the swell of your breasts. You're wearing a bra, but it's not much, a scrap of lace and silk that leaves nothing to the imagination. He can see the outline of your nipples, the stiff peaks pressing against the fabric, and he can't help but reach up and run his thumb over one, the contact making him shiver.
"Hunter," you whimper, your eyelids fluttering shut. He repeats the action, watching in fascination as your chest rises and falls, and he does it again, the soft whine that falls from your lips spurring him on.
"Look at you," he murmurs, his hand cupping your breast. "So perfect."
He leans down, his mouth closing over the soft mound, and he sucks gently, his tongue lapping at the hard nub through the fabric. Your back arches, a broken moan escaping your lips, and Hunter feels a rush of heat shoot through him, his cock straining against the confines of his pants.
"Fuck," he curses, his breath hot against your skin, his hands moving to undo his belt. It's a struggle, his fingers shaking, but he manages, tugging it free and tossing it to the side. As soon as it hits the ground, you're pushing his hands away, taking over, and he grins, letting you take the lead.
"Here, let me," you murmur as your fingers work to unclip his armor. He nods, sitting back on his hands and admiring the view as you remove each piece, dropping them to the floor. The way your brow furrows in concentration, the softness of your skin, the swell of your breasts as they rise and fall with every breath, the warmth of your hands, the gentleness of your touch, all of it sends another wave of heat crashing through him.
It's breathtaking, the sight of you, and Hunter can't help the pride that swells in his chest. Itâs not the first time heâs felt it, the rush of joy that comes with seeing the woman he loves, but it still catches him off guard.
He wonders, briefly, if he'll ever get used to the feeling. If he ever stops being amazed by how incredible you are, how lucky he is to have found you.
"What are you thinking about?"
You're kneeling in front of him now, your hands resting on his knees, and the question startles him out of his thoughts.
"Nothing," he says, and you tilt your head to the side, giving him a knowing look. He chuckles, reaching out to cup your cheek, his thumb stroking along your jaw. "Just admiring the view."
"Oh, really?"
"Really," he replies, his gaze dropping to the exposed flesh of your chest. He can't stop himself from leaning forward, his fingers skimming along the lace, before brushing over the delicate skin of your cleavage.
"Hunter," you whimper, arching into him.
"Beautiful," he says. His eyes meet yours, a wicked grin pulling at his lips. "I can't wait to get my mouth on you."
You blush, the heat creeping up your neck, and Hunter chuckles, pulling you towards him. He wraps his arms around you, burying his face in your chest.
âBut first,â he murmurs against your chest. His lips brush over your sternum, his nose skimming the tops of your breasts, and his hands find the waistband of your pants, tugging the fabric down. âI want to see all of you.â
You moan, letting him pull the material down your thighs, your eyes slipping shut as his hands glide along your legs. You step out of the clothing, them aside, and he takes the opportunity to remove his pants and shirt, tossing them into the growing pile of clothes.
You stand between his legs, staring down at him in nothing but your bra and panties, and Hunter has to take a deep breath. The sight of you is almost too much, the need coiling in his belly threatening to overwhelm him, but he manages to rein himself in.
"Gorgeous," he whispers. His hands are on your thighs, his thumbs rubbing slow circles into the sensitive flesh. "Come here."
He pulls you into his lap, guiding you to straddle his hips, and you go willingly, settling yourself onto his thighs. He presses a kiss to the hollow of your throat, his teeth grazing the skin, and you sigh, tilting your head to the side, granting him access.
"You smell so good," he murmurs. His nose traces the column of your neck, breathing in the sweet scent. It sends a thrill through him, a wave of desire surging forward, and his hips jerk involuntarily, grinding against yours. His cock is straining against the fabric of his underwear, aching for release, and he can't stop himself from groaning.
"Fuck," he rasps, his teeth scraping against your collarbone as you shift. You're moving against him, a slow roll of your hips, and Hunter can feel his restraint slipping.
"Hunter," you sigh. His mouth moves down, his lips trailing over the swell of your breast, his tongue darting out to lap at the lace covering your nipple.
"You're driving me crazy, sweetheart," he breathes, his breath hot against your skin. "The things I wanna do to you."
"What do you want to do to me?"
He can't stop the groan that escapes him. He grabs your hips, his fingers digging into the flesh, and tugs you down, grinding his clothed erection against you.
"Everything," he growls. His mouth moves along your neck, biting and sucking, leaving a trail of bruises in its wake. "Anything you want. I'd do anything for you."
"Anything?"
"Mmhm," he murmurs, nuzzling your chest. He can't stop himself from licking and sucking, the taste of your skin intoxicating. His hands are roaming up and down your sides, squeezing and caressing, and you arch into him, your body reacting to his touch.
He slides a hand down your spine, his fingers finding the clasp of your bra. He makes quick work of it, unhooking the latch and pulling the straps down your arms. You sit back, letting the fabric fall away, and he can't help but stare, his mouth hanging open.
Your nipples are hard, pebbled and straining, and he can't resist the urge to flick his tongue across one, teasing the stiff peak. You let out a whimper, your fingers tangling in his hair, and he grins, swirling his tongue around the sensitive bud.
"Oh," you gasp. Your eyes are closed, your head tipped back, and Hunter smiles against your skin. He continues his assault, licking and sucking, his teeth grazing over the stiff nub.
"Feels good, doesn't it?" he purrs. You nod, a soft moan falling from your lips. He switches to the other nipple, giving it the same attention, and you squirm in his lap, your hips rocking against his.
"Force, yes," you pant, tugging at his hair. "I missed this. Missed you."
"Me too, sweetheart," he murmurs. His hands move to cup your breasts, squeezing and kneading, and you let out a shaky breath, rolling your hips against his. "I missed touching you, kissing you, being inside you."
"Yes," you whimper. His fingers are plucking at your nipples, pinching and tugging, and you grind down on his lap, desperate for friction. "Please, Hunter."
"Don't worry," he promises. He kisses his way up your chest, along the curve of your neck, and nips at your earlobe. "I'm gonna take care of you."
"Good," you huff, wrapping your arms around his neck. "I've waited long enough."
"Too long," he agrees. He lifts his head, his gaze meeting yours. "But we've got all the time in the world."
You smile at him, cupping his face. For a moment, the two of you simply stare at each other, neither saying a word. He can see the desire in your eyes, the need shining bright, but there's something else, something deeper, and his heart swells, his chest filling with warmth.
Then, without warning, Hunter flips you over, pressing you down into the mattress. He hovers above you, his weight resting on his forearms, and he smirks when you let out a surprised squeal.
"Hunter!"
"Hmm?" he hums, dipping his head to kiss the underside of your jaw. You arch into him, a soft moan escaping you.
"What are youâmm, that feels good," you sigh, tipping your head to the side.
"What's that, sweetheart?"
"Nothing," you murmur. Your arms are draped over his shoulders, your fingers threading through his hair. He presses a kiss to your throat, his teeth scraping over the sensitive skin, and you groan. âKeep going.â
Hunter chuckles, his hands sliding up your thighs. He reaches your hips, his fingers hooking under the waistband of your underwear.
"Lift your hips for me," he says, his breath ghosting across your ear. You obey, lifting yourself up off the mattress, and Hunter pulls the fabric down your legs. He tosses it over his shoulder, not bothering to see where it lands, before turning his attention back to you.
"Perfect," he breathes.
You're spread out in front of him, completely naked, your cheeks flushed, chest heaving, and he's mesmerized. It's not the first time he's seen you like this, but it's been too long, and his memory can't compare to the real thing.
He traces a finger along your inner thigh as he settles between your legs, his hand gliding over the soft flesh, and he watches as goosebumps erupt across your skin. You're trembling, the anticipation clear in your eyes, and Hunter grins, enjoying the effect he has on you.
"Tell me what you want," he says, his fingers ghosting along your slit. He's not surprised to find you wet, the scent of your arousal thick in the air, and he inhales deeply, relishing the familiar aroma.
"I want you," you whimper, your hips bucking upwards. He places a hand on your stomach, holding you down.
"How do you want me?"
"I don't care," you pant, reaching for him. Your fingers wrap around his wrist, your nails digging into the skin, and he bites back a groan. "I just need you. Please."
"Soon," he promises. He kisses your thigh, his lips trailing over the smooth flesh. "Let me take care of you first."
"You don't have to," you insist.
"Oh, I want to," he murmurs, his mouth inches from your center. "So badly."
"Oh," you moan, your back arching as his breath ghosts over your sensitive skin. You're trembling beneath him, and Hunter can't help but smile. It's intoxicating, knowing how badly you want him, and he can't stop the pride that swells in his chest.
His tongue flicks out, teasingly brushing against your folds, and you let out a breathy sigh, your body tensing.
"Stop teasing,â you plead.
"Sorry, sweetheart," he says, though he canât find it in him to sound apologetic. His fingers part your folds, and his tongue slides through your slick heat, circling your entrance before dragging up to flick over your clit.
"Ah, fuck," you moan as your eyes roll back. Your hands are clutching the sheets, and he grins, swirling his tongue around the bundle of nerves. You gasp, your hips jerking, and he grabs them, holding you in place as he begins to lick and suck.
He wastes no time, his tongue and lips reacquainting themselves with your folds, and the taste of you is enough to make him dizzy. It's sweet and salty, familiar and unfamiliar, and Hunter can't get enough. He buries his face in your cunt, his nose rubbing against your clit as his tongue probes your entrance.
"Oh, Hunter, yes," you pant, your hand shooting down to tangle in his hair. He grins against you at the praise, his tongue plunging inside, and you let out a strangled moan.
He eats you out with enthusiasm, his tongue exploring every inch of your pussy. He's not sure how long he spends there, his face buried between your thighs, his mouth sucking and licking at your cunt. It could be hours, or mere minutes, but he doesn't care. It's perfect, the feeling of you underneath him, the way your body writhes, the noises falling from your lips.
He fucks you with his tongue, his grip on your thighs tightening, and your back arches, a desperate whine escaping you.
"Fuck, yes, Hunter," you cry out, your legs wrapping around his head, locking him in place. He moans, his tongue plunging deeper, his fingers digging into the soft flesh. He can't stop himself, his movements becoming frantic, desperate.
He needs more, craves it. Wants to feel you come apart, to know that it's his name on your lips. That it's his touch making you lose your careful composure.
"That's it," he groans, his breath hot against your pussy. "Come on my face, sweetheart."
He's not sure if it's the words or the way he thrusts his tongue inside, curling and stroking, but something sends you over the edge, and he's rewarded with a choked cry and a gush of slick heat as you clamp down around him.
Your toes curl, your back arching off the bed, and Hunter has to hold you down, his grip tightening as his mouth continues its relentless assault. Your walls pulse around him, clenching and releasing, and he lets out a growl, his tongue pushing deeper.
"Kriff," you moan, your hands clutching at his hair, pulling and tugging. He lets out a muffled groan, his eyes slipping shut, and he savors the feeling, the taste, the smell.
The fact that it's you, that he's the one who got you here, who made you come undone, is enough to send a wave of pleasure coursing through him. It's addicting, the feeling of having you like this, and he can't help the surge of satisfaction that comes with the knowledge that no one else has ever seen you this way. And if he has his way, no one ever will.
"Force, I missed that," he says once you finally relax, your legs falling from his shoulders. He licks his lips, grinning, and wipes his chin with the back of his hand.
"Me too," you breathe, propping yourself up on your elbows. "That was incredible."
"Yeah?" he asks, crawling up your body. He plants a kiss on your sternum, moving higher until his mouth finds yours. You return his messy kiss eagerly, moaning when you taste yourself on his tongue, and he chuckles, cupping your cheek.
"Mmhm," you sigh.
"Good," he murmurs, kissing you again. His tongue probes your mouth, searching for every last drop of sweetness. You cling to him, your nails digging into his shoulders, and he grunts, his cock twitching at the feeling.
"Need you," you whisper, breaking the kiss. Your hands slip down, coming to rest on his ass. You give him a squeeze, a playful grin on your lips, and Hunter can't stop the smirk that pulls at his mouth.
"Patience, sweetheart," he says. "We've got all the time in the galaxy."
"No," you shake your head, hooking your leg around his waist. You pull him closer, the hard line of his clothed cock rubbing against your clit, and you moan, grinding against him. "I need you now."
"Kriff," he groans, his head falling forward. The heat is radiating off of you, and he can't stop himself from pushing against you, seeking relief. "Yeah, alright. But I wanna take my time with you."
"We can take our time later," you promise. You tug at his underwear, pulling the fabric down his thighs, and he kicks them off, sighing in relief as his cock springs free. A pleased noise escapes you at the sight of him, hard and straining, and your other leg wraps around him, urging him on.
"Sweetheart," he breathes, his hips rolling. His cock is trapped between the two of you, sliding through your slick folds, and the sensation is almost too much.
"Please," you beg, tilting your hips upwards. You're soaking wet, the head of his cock sliding through the mess, and it's all he can do not to sink inside you.
"Fuck," he hisses. His grip on your waist tightens, and he presses a kiss to your neck, his lips tracing a path along the curve. You moan, arching into him, and he takes the opportunity to capture your lips in another messy kiss. He can feel the desire pouring off you, the need coursing through your veins, and it's overwhelming. He doesnât even notice your legs tightening around him, not until you flip him over, and suddenly you're on top of him, straddling his lap.
"Shit," he gasps, his eyes wide. "That wasâ"
"Fast?" you finish. He nods, swallowing hard, and you laugh, the sound sending a shiver down his spine. âI think you forgot what I am, Hunter."
"Never," he whispers, his hands roaming up and down your thighs. He takes in the view, his eyes trailing over the length of your body, from the flush on your cheeks to the way your breasts sway with every breath, to the glistening wetness coating your thighs and the base of his cock. "You're incredible."
"Yeah?"
"Mmhm," he hums. His gaze drifts up, meeting yours, and he smiles, the sight of you making his heart swell. "You're perfect."
"I love you," you say, and Hunter can't help the warmth that spreads through him at the words. He's heard them a hundred times before, but each time, it still feels new. Like the first time.
"I love you, too," he replies. His fingers brush over your clit, gathering the wetness, and he slides his hand down, taking himself in his fist. "Ready?"
"Yes," you breathe.
You rise up onto your knees, placing a hand on his chest for balance, and Hunter guides himself to your entrance. His cock slides between your folds, the tip nudging at your entrance, and you both moan, the sound mixing together.
Hunter has to fight to keep his eyes open, to keep his hands steady. He wants to watch as you sink down on his cock, to see the pleasure wash over you as he fills you. He knows what it feels like, to be buried inside you, and it's always been intoxicating, but now? After everything that's happened, after the fear and the pain and the longing, to have you back in his arms?
It's beyond words. Beyond comprehension.
He doesn't deserve it. Doesn't deserve you.
But he'll never stop trying.
You let out a gasp as he pushes inside, his cock stretching and filling you, and Hunter has to grit his teeth, his hands tightening on your hips. The heat is incredible, the feeling of being buried deep inside, and he groans, the sound coming from deep within his chest.
"Fucking hell, sweetheart," he grunts. His eyes are locked on where the two of you are joined, watching as you slowly slide down the length of his cock. "You're so tight."
"It's been a while," you say, your breath coming in short pants. Your brow is furrowed, your teeth biting into your bottom lip, and Hunter has to bite back a groan.
"I know," he breathes. His hands caress your sides, his fingers skimming over the soft skin, and he feels your body relax. You're fully seated on his cock now, and Hunter can feel the way your cunt flutters around him, squeezing him tight. You tremble, and he reaches up, cupping your face.
"You alright?" he asks, stroking his thumb over your cheek. You nod, the corners of your mouth curling upwards.
"It's been a long time. Need a minute."
"Take all the time you need," he says.
"Thank you," you smile, turning your head to press a kiss to his palm.
You sit there, staring into his eyes, the two of you just existing. He doesn't mind it. Doesn't care about anything other than the feeling of being inside you. He can't believe he forgot what this was like, how perfect it is, how much he loves it. How much he loves you.
The urge to keep you here, to never let you go, to keep you safe and warm and loved and happy is overwhelming, and he can't help but reach out, his fingers tracing the curve of your jaw. He wonders if this is what it feels like to drown. If this is how people describe being swept away, pulled under the waves by the current, never to surface again.
He wonders if this is what they mean when they talk about being lost in someone.
Because he is. He's completely and utterly lost. Lost in you. Lost in the warmth of your gaze, the softness of your touch, the scent of your skin, the feeling of your body surrounding him, your heart beating in sync with his own.
He knows, in this moment, that he's not just in love with you. That he's not just madly infatuated with the woman in his arms. He's lost, and there's no coming back. He's yours. And he knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that you belong to him. That the two of you are bound together. That there's no one else for him. No one else he wants. Just you.
It's not the first time he's felt it, this overwhelming sense of love. But it's the first time it's hit him so hard. Maybe because it's the first time it's been this intense, this all-consuming. Maybe because it's the first time he's actually understood what it means. What it truly means.
Maybe because it's the first time he's truly believed it.
"Hunter?"
You're staring at him, concern etched across your features, and he realizes, with a start, that tears are rolling down his cheeks. He hadn't noticed.
"Sorry," he mutters, hastily wiping his face.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," he says.
"Are you sure?" you ask. "Because I've never seen you cry before."
"I'm okay," he says, smiling softly. "I'm fine. Just... overwhelmed, I guess."
"You sure?"
"Yeah," he nods. He sits up, bracing his back against the headboard as his hands cup your cheeks. "I'm more than fine."
"Okay," you say, giving him a worried smile. His thumb smooths the crease between your brows, and he presses a gentle kiss in its place.
"I promise," he murmurs as he leans his forehead against yours. "I love you."
"Love you too," you whisper. You place a hand on his chest, just above his heart, and he wraps his arms around you, holding you close.
"I don't say it enough," he says, his voice hoarse. "But I mean it. Every time."
"I know," you assure him. You kiss his cheek, your lips trailing over the curve. "You don't have to say it. I know. I can feel it. I always have."
"Good," he sighs. His hands move up and down your back, the tips of his fingers gliding over your spine. "Never forget it."
"I won't," you promise.
He holds you there, your foreheads pressed together, your noses touching. He closes his eyes, inhaling deeply, letting the scent of you wash over him. It calms him, soothes him, and he feels his heart slow, his breathing evening out.
You shift, lifting your hips, and he gasps, the feeling of your cunt gripping his cock sending a jolt of pleasure through him. You smile, kissing the corner of his mouth.
"I'm okay," he whispers, his hands moving to grip your hips.
"Good," you say, your lips brushing over his. You start to move, rising up onto your knees before sinking back down. You both groan, the feeling of being joined sending a surge of warmth through him.
"Kriff," Hunter rasps as your hands find his shoulders, your fingers digging into the muscle, and you lift yourself up again, repeating the motion. His head falls back against the headboard with a dull thump, and you smile, your teeth scraping over the sensitive spot where his neck meets his shoulder.
"How's that feel?"
"So good," he breathes.
"Yeah?" you hum, rocking against him.
You're moving slowly, the pace torturous, and Hunter can't help but grind his hips upwards, trying to speed things along. You're having none of it, placing a hand on his chest, pushing him back against the bed.
"Slow," you order.
"Can't," he groans. His grip on your waist tightens, his fingers digging into the soft flesh, and he pulls you down, forcing himself deeper as his hips buck up into you.
"Why not?"
"Need more," he pants.
"Hmm," you murmur, nipping at his throat. "I thought we were going to take our time."
"Changed my mind."
"Too bad," you smirk.
Your lips find his, capturing him in a heated kiss, and Hunter moans, his mouth parting for you. Your tongue sweeps through his mouth, seeking his own, and he can't stop the desperate noise that escapes him as you taste him. He tries to move, to thrust up into you, but a weight presses down on him, holding him in place. He knows without looking that the Force is holding him down, keeping him still, and a thrill runs through him, the realization making him even harder.
"Fuck," he hisses.
"What was that?"
"Kriff, I hate when you do that," he mutters, glaring up at you.
"Do what?" you ask, feigning innocence.
"That." He jerks his chin towards the invisible pressure pinning him to the bed. "You know exactly what."
"No idea what you're talking about," you grin. You're still moving, the movement slow and steady, and Hunter lets out a low whine, his eyes slipping shut.
"You're insufferable," he huffs, his head falling back.
"I think you're the one being insufferable," you tease, placing a hand on his chest. You run your fingers through the coarse hair, dragging them down until they brush over the base of his cock. "If I recall, you were the one who said we should take our time."
"Well, maybe I was wrong."
"Oh, I don't know," you say, your fingers tracing the edge of his hip bone. "I think it's nice."
"It is," he concedes, hissing as you squeeze his balls. "But it's not enough."
"No?"
"No," he says, opening his eyes. He looks up at you, taking in the sight. Your skin is flushed, your lips swollen and parted, your eyes glassy and filled with desire. He swallows hard, his hands tightening on your hips. He knows there will be marks tomorrow, a reminder of what happened tonight, and the thought makes him twitch inside you.
"So impatient," you tut.
"Yeah," he agrees. "You're so kriffing gorgeous. And I want you so badly. Always. I can't get enough of you."
"Hunter," you gasp, grinding down on him.
"Yeah," he breathes, his eyes drifting down to where the two of you are joined. Your cunt is stretched tight around his cock, and Hunter lets out a moan, the sight making his mouth water. He's always loved watching you take his cock, loved the way it looked as it slid in and out of your wet heat, loved the way it felt, being inside you. But now, after everything? After almost losing you?
"Force, I can't get over how beautiful you are," he whispers.
You're moving faster now, his cock sliding in and out of you with ease, and the room fills with the sounds of skin slapping against skin and heavy breathing.
"Fuck," you cry out as he hits that spot deep inside, and Hunter lets out a grunt, his hands finding your breasts.
"There you go," he says. He palms the soft flesh, his fingers finding your nipples, and he pinches them, rolling the stiff buds between his thumb and forefinger.
"Oh," you moan, arching into his touch. "Oh, that feels good."
"Yeah?" he breathes.
"Yes," you nod, rocking against him. You're bouncing on his cock, the bed shaking with each thrust, and Hunter can't tear his eyes away. He's transfixed, unable to look anywhere else. You're a vision, sweat beading on your brow, your body trembling as the pleasure builds.
His hands find your ass, pulling you down onto his cock, and he can feel the muscles flexing beneath his fingertips. He can feel his climax approaching, his balls tightening, the pressure building. He's not ready for this to end, not yet, so he grits his teeth, biting the inside of his cheek.
"You gonna come for me, sweetheart?" he pants, his hands roaming over the curve of your ass, squeezing and groping.
"Mmhm," you nod. You're leaning forward now, your hands braced on his chest as you ride him. Your nails rake across his chest, leaving angry red lines in their wake, and his hips twitch, trying to thrust up into you. The weight keeps him in place, and he lets out a frustrated groan.
"That's it," he coos. He can feel the tension in your thighs, the way your legs are shaking, and he knows you're close. He grips your ass tighter, helping you keep pace, and you whimper, your movements becoming erratic.
"Please," you plead, and he can't deny you, not when you're begging.
His fingers find your clit, his thumb rubbing the swollen bundle of nerves. Your head falls forward, your hair falling over your face, and Hunter reaches up, brushing the strands aside.
"Come for me," he says, his voice hoarse. âCome for me, and then Iâm gonna fill you up."
"Yes," you gasp.
"You wanna feel it, don't you?" he murmurs. He's barely holding on now, the heat pooling in his belly threatening to overwhelm him. "Want me to fill you up, mark you as mine. Make you mine."
"Yes, yes, yes," you chant, grinding against him. "More, please, please, please, I needâ"
He flicks his thumb over your clit, pressing down hard. Your breath hitches, your walls fluttering around his cock, and Hunter watches, mesmerized, as you shudder above him. You're staring at him, your pupils blown wide, your hair a mess, your skin covered in a thin sheen of sweat, your mouth hanging open in a silent scream.
"There it is," he growls. The weight pressing down on him disappears, and he grabs your waist, flipping you over. Your back hits the mattress, your legs wrapped around his hips, and he pounds into you, chasing his own release.
"Yes," you cry out, wrapping your arms around his neck. Your mouth finds his, swallowing his moans, as his cock pistons in and out of your dripping cunt.
He fucks you, hard and fast, the bed creaking underneath the two of you. You're clinging to him, your nails scratching his back, and he knows there will be marks, knows that he's probably hurting you, but he can't stop, can't slow down. He's so close, the pressure building, the pleasure coiling deep inside, and he's desperate for it, his thrusts becoming frantic.
"Gonna fill you up," he gasps.
"Please," you beg, and that's all it takes.
His orgasm hits him hard, and he cries out, his hips jerking erratically as he spills inside you. He buries his face in your neck, biting and sucking, and you whimper, your legs tightening around his waist.
"Fuck, yes," you groan, and Hunter can feel the warmth of his spend leaking out of you, the mess coating his cock, dripping down his thighs. It's intoxicating, and he can't stop himself from thrusting deeper, trying to make sure every drop is buried inside you.
"Oh, Hunter," you moan. Your hands are on his ass, pulling him closer, urging him on. He grinds his hips against you, and you sigh, a lazy smile spreading across your lips.
"Good?" he asks, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek.
"Perfect," you whisper. You cup his face, and he leans into the touch, his eyelids fluttering as he savors the feeling.
He doesn't want to move, doesn't want to let go. He's perfectly content to stay like this, holding you, his cock buried deep inside you, your hands stroking his face. You're watching him, your eyes roaming over his body, and he preens under the attention, a soft smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"Well," he huffs, "I hope that was worth the wait."
"It was," you nod. You pull him closer, his head resting on your chest, and he lets out a sigh, his body relaxing.
"You alright?" he murmurs, pressing a kiss to the swell of your breast.
"Mmhm," you nod. Your hands are tracing patterns over his skin, fingers trailing across his back, and he can't help but shiver, goosebumps erupting in their wake.
"I'm not too heavy?"
"Not at all," you say. Your fingers move up, combing through his hair, and Hunter practically purrs, a low rumble rising from his chest.
"Good," he sighs. He tilts his head, his nose brushing against the hollow of your throat, and he inhales deeply, the scent of your arousal still thick in the air. He can feel the heat radiating off your body, and he shivers, the sensation sending a tingle down his spine.
"Hey," you murmur, and he hums in response. He shifts his weight, settling his elbows on either side of your head, and kisses your cheek.
"Hi," he whispers, his breath ghosting across your skin. He leans forward, brushing his lips against yours. You return the kiss eagerly, a soft moan escaping you. You wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him closer, and he goes willingly, his hips grinding against you.
"Mm, again?" you giggle, your teeth scraping over his bottom lip.
"If you're up for it," he says, grinning.
"I'm always up for it," you smirk. You roll your hips, your legs wrapping around his waist. He's still half-hard, his cock slowly swelling, and he can't stop the groan that rumbles in his chest.
"Good." Hunter grins, capturing your mouth in another searing kiss. "Because I'm nowhere near done with you."
"Well, we've got plenty of time," you breathe.
"Plenty," he echoes, his hands finding your hips. "Let's make the most of it, then."
And he does.
He spends the rest of the night worshiping you, his mouth and hands mapping every inch of your skin. He leaves no part of you untouched, his lips and tongue and fingers exploring every inch, and you do the same. The two of you take turns, exploring and teasing, pleasuring and loving, until you're both too exhausted to continue.
Afterwards, you lie together, his arm draped over your waist, his nose buried in the crook of your neck. Hunter inhales deeply, the familiar scent filling his nostrils, and he lets out a content sigh. He can feel the ache in his limbs, and he's suddenly aware of how tired he is. He doesn't remember the last time he slept, and he can't even recall the last time he was able to relax. It feels like forever since he's felt this good, this safe.
This happy.
"I love you,â you murmur as you press a kiss to the top of his head.
"I love you, too," he whispers, his voice thick.
"I know," you chuckle, and he smiles against your neck.
You're both still breathing hard, chests heaving, bodies sticky with sweat, and he revels in the feeling, his arms tightening around you. He can't stop himself from kissing you, peppering your neck with gentle kisses, his lips ghosting over the delicate skin.
He makes his way up to your jaw, then your cheek, before finally meeting your mouth. It's slow, tender, filled with a sense of intimacy he hasn't felt in a long time, and it's enough to make him tear up. His hand cradles your cheek, his thumb stroking the skin, and he closes his eyes, savoring the moment.
He never thought he'd have this. Never thought he'd get a chance.
And now that he does? Now that he's got you here, in his arms, where he's meant to be?
"I'm not letting you go again," he mumbles, his forehead pressed against yours. "I don't care what it takes, I'm not letting anyone or anything take you from me."
"Hunter," you start, but he cuts you off.
"I know. I know, you can handle yourself, you're more than capable. I know all that. But I'm still going to be there. I'm always going to be there."
"I know," you say, your hand cupping his cheek.
"Do you?"
His eyes search yours, searching for any hint of hesitation, any sign of doubt. He finds none. Just warmth. Just love.
"Yes," you whisper.
"Good," he nods. He pulls back, just enough to look into your eyes. He doesn't think he'll ever get tired of seeing you like this, bare and vulnerable, looking at him like that. Like he's the only person who matters.
"I meant what I said earlier," he says. "About wanting a family. A future."
"Me too," you smile.
"Really?"
"Yes," you nod, placing a hand on his chest. Your fingertips trace over the curve of his collarbone, and he shivers. "I want that with you. I always have."
"Even after everything?"
"Especially after everything," you assure him. "I've always wanted a future with you, Hunter. Ever since we met. I know you're scared. I am too. But I love you, and I want this. Us. All of it."
"Okay," he says, smiling.
"Okay," you repeat, returning the smile.
He pulls you into another kiss, his hand cradling the back of your neck, and the two of you stay like that, kissing and touching and loving, until exhaustion takes over. You curl up against him, your head on his chest, his arms wrapped around you, and he feels his eyes begin to droop. He can't remember the last time he was this relaxed, the last time he was this comfortable. The last time he felt so safe. So loved.
And for the first time in a long time, Hunter doesn't worry. He doesn't stress. He doesn't plan.
Instead, he closes his eyes, a smile tugging at his lips, and he lets the world fade away.

Death.
He thought he had his cold grip around your soul, he thought it could be easy ripping you away from your family.
He was wrong.
He was not truly death,
You were.
And he had realized that a moment too late as you plunged your glowing blade through his ribs, twisted and then cut downwards. Your life came back to you with a rush of adrenaline, and you gasped for air while using your arms to push you upwards.
The man who had killed you, an inquisitor. He was slowly walking away, until he heard your gasp for air.
The masked man turned back to you as you slowly stumbled to your feet, the hilt of your dual lightsabers held tightly in your hands.
You were staring downwards, your hair falling across your face, blood dripping down your cheek as you just stood there. âStill not dead Jedi?â The Inquisitor asked, but you didn't respond. Instead you looked around you, seeing the unconscious yet alive bodies of your friends, your familyâŠ
âNo.â You seethed, finally looking up at him as you ignited one blade after the other. At first your blades hummed soothingly, like a lullaby, and were glowing purple⊠But as you took a step towards the inquisitor, and tightened your grip on the hilts of your blades, that deep purple glow slowly turned red, starting from the base and making its way up to the top as it crackled with energy.
âYou hurt my family⊠so you will suffer tenfold.â You snarled. The inquisitor snickered, but with a blink of an eye you were gone, no longer in front of him. His eyes went wide as he frantically looked around, hearing a whooshing sound pass him, followed by the crackling hum of your blades.
A scream then fell from his lips as one of your blades cut deep into his leg, he stumbled forward but didnât fall. He turned to where the cut had come from, but again you weren't there.
The Inquisitor let out a furious cry, and spun around just as you struck him with your lightsabers. He had managed to block but only for a brief moment as you flicked your fingers. The force enveloped him as his hand slowly twisted backwards, yet despite his resistance to the push he dropped his own saber, and his head snapped backwards, a loud crack echoing through the forest you dueled in.
He let out another excruciating scream, but you werenât done with him. You channeled the force, the darkness that clouded you and you sent the inquisitor flying into a tree. He nearly avoided being impaled by a low branch, but he was given no moment to recover as he was force pulled, then pushed again.
This time his back hit the sharp branch of the tree, and it started piercing his skin, the splinters catching in his muscle, making it even more painful as you stood in front of him, your two blades connected into one blade now as your right hand was extended forward, and you kept pushing him farther back against that branch.
Everything you did to him, you did with precision, making sure that every blow you dealt wouldn't kill him. And soon he was fully pressed against the tree, the branch fully impaled through his stomach as he cried.
âwha- what⊠are y- you?â The inquisitor choked out, blood filling his mouth and falling past his lips. You growled, and called on your darkness as you pulled him forward but not off the branch, pushing him back again. âI am revenge.â You answered, reaching through the branch, through its life as you made it crack, and expand from the inside.
The inquisitor wailed in pain, and began begging for his life as you stepped forward. You pointed the tip of your dual blade to his neck, pushing it against his skin, starting to burn the flesh of his neck away as he continued to plead.
âY/n- what are you-â Hunterâs voice choked out, and you snapped your head towards him, reaching out your hand as you pushed him back, the force knocking him into the ground. You said nothing, and turned back to the inquisitor.
âCall your friends.â You hissed, pulling his commlink into your hands, turning it on and pointing it to his mouth. He choked out whatever garbled warnings he could muster before you crushed the device in your hands, and reached your hand towards him again, and this time you started to choke him, squeezing tighter and tighter as his face got redder and redder.
Until his head exploded. Literally. The pressure and the blood had gotten so clogged that it had exploded his brain, and that in turn cracked his skull, and then broke through the skin.
But you weren't done. You ripped off his armor plating, and tore away the fabric covering his chest, taking your saber as you carved a word against his chest, just a single word in a language you had grown to love.
You carved the mandoâa word Skira into the inquisitor's skin. It meant vengeance, bloody vengeance.
And you would have it, you would destroy the empire for the harm they caused your family⊠and you would not stop until every inquisitor, every sith, every admiral under the emperor's watch was dead⊠or until you were.
You un-ignited your saber, and clipped it to your belt before you walked over to Hunter. He stared up at you, a form of fear written across his face. âBe not afraid.â You whispered, crouching down to him as he got a clearer look at your now yellow eyes.
âI will not let anyone hurt you, ever again.â

Summary: When you and Hunter are left alone on The Havoc Marauder the feelings the two of you have kept well hidden finally come to light...
Pairing: Hunter x Jedi!Reader
Word Count: 5,271
Author's Note: I really donât know how Hunterâs senses work, especially since they seemed to forget about them as the seasons went on. I like the idea most of fandom subscribes to that all of his senses are heightened but I saw a post once comparing his electroreception to that of a platypus which absolutely kills me. I guess weâll never know for sure but no matter what I love our dear platypus man LOL
*******************
The Havoc Marauder was uncharacteristically silent as you sat in the cockpit. Most of The Bad Batch, minus Hunter who had stayed behind claiming headache, had left for a supply run earlier and likely wouldnât be back for a few standard hours. Hunter had retreated to his bunk to sleep moments after the others had left, effectively leaving you alone.
Normally, the chance to explore a new place on a new planet would have thrilled you but like so many other things that had changed recently too. What had once brought excitement now brought fear. You had volunteered to stay with the ship as you didnât want to risk being seen in a busy spaceport. Not that there were many left in the galaxy that would recognize you, but you just didnât want to take any chances that might further endanger the squad. Having a former Jedi amongst your ranks was essentially a death sentence these days, and The Bad Batch already had enough heat on them as renegade clones.Â
With a sigh, you sunk further into the copilot seat as you stared out the viewport. As much as you appreciated some peace and quiet, which admittedly was hard to come by with the squad, the silence left you with too much time to think. Somedays it was hard to wrap your head around all that had happened. The weight of the grief you felt threatened to drown you when you took a moment to stop and acknowledge it. Everything you had once known, had once believed in had been completely turned upside down. Your friends, your former master, all gone in a moment.Â
As far as you knew you had gone from being one of thousands to one of only a few that remained and even then you had only just barely survived. You werenât sure if your survival was the will of the force or simply just the result of being in the right place at the right time. In your more cynical moments, you believed it really had only been luck. If Jedi masters with far greater power than your own hadnât survived you felt you really had no right still being alive. It was a thought that kept you up most nights, survivor's guilt.Â
Having only been nighted a few rotations before the Clone Wars had started you had never been assigned your own battalion. Instead, throughout the war you had often completed recon and special ops missions that had the GAR assigning small squads of clones to you as needed, mostly commandos. It had been how you had met The Bad Batch in the first place. Youâd been paired with the squad on several missions towards the end of the war. In the end, this use of your skills as a Jedi had likely been what had saved you. You hadnât been near any clones when the order had come through, instead you had been klicks away from the nearest squad scouting. The clones had known you were on the planet though and the manhunt that had happened in the days that had followed Order-66 had nearly claimed your life multiple times. But despite everything that had been thrown your way you had still managed to escape off-world with a blaster wound burning in your side and a broken arm.Â
Your first thought had been to simply disappear in the galaxy, to find some small backwater planet to live out the rest of your days but without enough fuel or credits to get you anywhere far, desperation had driven you to seek out Cid. You had used the Trandoshan as an informant many times throughout the war and while you still didnât trust her it had turned out to be a good idea after all as it had led you directly back to The Batch.Â
Youâd been terrified at first, drawing your lightsaber on them the minute they had entered the bar, but it had become clear rather quickly that they were not following orders like the other clones had been. Theyâd explained everything, Order-66, Palpatine, the inhibitor chips, everything that had happened in the days following the end of the war. To hear the truth, that the men you had fought alongside for so many years, your friends, had been used like pawns in a game, treated in such a horrendous way by both The Republic and the new Empire had broken you more than anything else. It had been in that moment as you stared at the squad in front of you in Cidâs dingy bar that you had come to the realization that everything you had once believed in, everything you had fought for had amounted to nothing at all. All it had done was bring about the demise of nearly everyone you had cared for. You hadnât been protecting the galaxy, youâd just been one part in bringing it to ruin.Â
The thought continued to haunt you, even now, months after the end of the war. It had been hard to keep going afterward but being with the Batch and Omega had helped. You had always gotten along well with the squad during the war, in fact, they had become your favourite team to work with and despite not often working with Jedi they had seemed to accept and respect you. Youâd always felt welcome amongst them. When they had suggested you stay on with them as they worked with Cid you had initially refused, not wanting to put them in any more danger than they were already in. Even if you had mostly shut yourself off from the force to better hide yourself you still didnât want to take the chance of being detected. But Cid being Cid hadnât really given you the option, if you wanted to get the credits you needed to disappear into the galaxy you were going to owe her, and running jobs with the Batch became the only way to do so.Â
You sighed as you slid further down in the seat if only your master could see you now. Jedi Knight turned mercenary. Your eyes began to sting as you thought of your lost master. Master Antar Wei had been so very kind, wise, and caring. Heâd been a true keeper of the peace, a gentle soul with the strength of a warrior. He had taught you so very much, without his teachings you would not have been the person you are today. He had been as close to a father as you had ever had and his loss was nearly unbearable. Tech had been able to get access to some of the Empireâs files and when Master Weiâs name hadnât appeared on any of the wanted lists you knew he had likely succumbed to the same fate that nearly all of the Jedi had.Â
You startled slightly as the door to the cockpit opened, so lost in your own thoughts you hadnât heard the approaching footsteps. You swivelled the chair around to turn and look at Hunter as he entered, trying your best to school your features into an expression that would best hide your inner turmoil.
From the look on Hunterâs face, you hadnât done the best job. His warm brown eyes were filled with concern, the lines of his face taught as he hovered hesitantly just inside the doorway. He shifted from one foot to the other as his eyes briefly swept the cockpit, as though searching for signs of danger, before they settled back on you. Â
âAre you⊠alright?â He asked stiffly, as though he found it uncomfortable to ask you such a thing. His long hair was ruffled, likely from his sleep, making him even more ruggedly handsome than usual. You felt momentarily guilty for disturbing him before you noticed the air of tension that usually surrounded him when he had one of his migraines was no longer present. Only the same unease that had been clinging to him for the past few weeks was there.
Of all the members of The Batch, you had always gotten along best with the Sergeant. You admired his intelligence, his straightforward manner, the sly sense of humour that he let escape every once and a while, and the way he was fully devoted to his brothers. He was one of the most honourable men you had ever met and watching him go from stoic soldier to caring older brother to Omega had been a joy to witness.Â
Truthfully you had been wrestling with feelings for the gruff clone that were decidedly not Jedi-like since the very first mission you had been on together. There had always just been something about him that had drawn you to him. His signature always seemed brighter to you in the force, and like a moth to a flame, you had struggled to maintain your professionalism around him. Attachment was forbidden after all and some days when you looked at the ridiculously handsome man you knew your feelings were treading into dangerous territory. That had been before though, you reminded yourself, the Jedi were gone and with it, you supposed the rules you had once lived by were as well.Â
At one point you had been certain that your feelings were not just one-sided, Hunter kept his emotions very closely in check, but there had been looks, touches, conversations, and jokes just between the two of you that had set your heart pounding. But that also had been before. It seemed that whatever had been there was now long gone. In the last few weeks, all you had been able to sense from him was tension. He had done almost a complete 180. He no longer talked to you directly unless absolutely necessary, whenever you entered a room he left as soon as he was able to, even on The Marauder he always retreated to the space furthest away from you. A part of you wondered if you were just overreacting but the other knew that you werenât, something had changed in him and you had no idea what had caused it. Hunterâs cooling towards you had just been another knife in your already fragile heart. You had lost so much and watching him slip away too, even though heâd never been yours in the first place, had only added to your pain.Â
You realized suddenly that you had been quiet for longer than what was considered polite you finally spoke, shaking yourself fully from your melancholy thoughts, âI'm fine,â Your voice was soft as you nodded at him. You did your best to plaster a gentle smile on your face in an effort to ease his obvious discomfort.
âYour heart rate was elevated,â Hunter said, answering the question that had been at the forefront of your mind. Though you thought with amusement that you should have known, Hunterâs heightened senses meant there was very little on The Marauder that could be kept secret, âI thought something had happenedâŠâÂ
âNo,â You replied with a soft sigh, shaking your head sadly as you continued, âI just got a bit lost in my thoughts. I'm ok.â Â
His warm brown eyes were still intense but some of the worry had drained out of them as he looked at you for another long moment, âAre youâŠsure?â He asked hesitantly, looking somewhat like heâd rather be anywhere else.Â
âIâm sure, thank you, Hunter,â You replied with another nod, hoping to reassure him even though internally your heart was aching at the distance between the two of you.Â
âOk, Iâll uh - leave you to it thenâŠâ While Omegaâs presence had forced him to get better at dealing with emotions he still had the tendency to avoid emotional confrontations like a plague. But this complete avoidance was new, in the past you might not have talked about it but he had still always seemed to know when you were feeling down or conflicted. Youâd spent many hours and missions together sitting side by side, usually, no words were needed as you had always just found comfort in his solid and warm presence, sometimes he would distract you with stories about missions the squad had been on, but often it was just his silent company that he offered. Those moments together had always been your favourite. You still didnât know where things between the two of you had gone so wrong.Â
You watched as he went to turn around and suddenly you found yourself moving from your seat. Silently and quickly you closed the gap between the two of you, your hand reaching out to grasp his wrist, pulling him to a stop before you could really even consider what you were doing. You were so tired of everything but especially this unspoken conflict the two of you seemed to be in, âHunter, waitâŠâÂ
He turned to look at you with wide eyes before his gaze darted between your face and where your hand was on his wrist. You let go of him, trying your best to ignore the way your palm was tingling from touching him. Heâd always had that effect on you but whereas it had been comforting before it now only brought a sense of sadness, a sense of loss. Â
âIâm sorry if Iâve done something wrong, or something to upset you in any wayâŠâ You said softly, the words suddenly flowing out of you without really thinking. Your heart was beating painfully in your chest and your stomach rolled with anxiety. You couldnât bring yourself to meet his gaze as you continued to speak, too afraid of what you might find in the depths of his eyes if you did, âIt was not my intention and if there is anything I can do to fix it I will. Or if my presence isnât wanted here I understand. I know Iâm putting you all in danger by simply existing.â
Finally, you looked back up at him just in time to see Hunterâs expression morph into one of confusion and shock, âWhat? What do you mean? You havenât done anything wrong. Why would you think that?â He shook his head, âAnd no, thatâs not - youâre part of this squad and we donât abandon our own.â
âThen what is it?â You asked, suddenly nervous about confronting him. Youâd faced down thousands of droids, beasts, criminals, and other adversaries in your life but staring in the face of your friend as you prepared yourself for rejection was almost more terrifying than going into battle, âYou canât seem to stand being in the same room as me. You always seem to leave as quickly as you can, you only talk to me when absolutely necessary, and even then itâs usually through someone else rather than directly. So, I felt the only reasonable conclusion was that Iâve done something wrong, that Iâve upset you in some way. But I canât change if you donât talk to me about it.â
Hunter seemed shell-shocked as he stood in front of you, his mouth opened and closed a few times. You could feel the rush of emotions from him without even really trying, but it was so jumbled you couldnât make sense of any of them. Even in the dim light of the cockpit, you could see his face flushing, which was something entirely new. You had never seen Hunter this nervous before. He was quiet for so long that you were beginning to think he wasnât going to answer.Â
âI donât - Iâm not angry at you. Iâve never been more relieved than that day you showed up at Cidâs. I - I thought you had died but then you came back to us, to m-, and youâre a part of this squad. You havenât done anything wrongâŠâ Hunter finally spoke, his voice deep and rumbling in his chest, âIâm not upsetâŠâÂ
The way he trailed off left you with more questions than answers, so you simply stayed quiet, hoping he would continue.Â
He took a breath, as though he was steadying himself prior to battle, âYouâreâŠYouâre not the problem,â he said finally, âI am.â
You waited another long moment for him to elaborate, but when it seemed like that was all the explanation he was going to give you took a few steps towards him, closing the gap between you.
âWhat do you mean?â You asked. He seemed to tense at your proximity and at this distance, you could see the way his pupils dilated, the way his nostrils flared momentarily, the slightest flush of red on his cheeks. Your own heart was suddenly pounding in your chest at the intensity of his gaze. Â
âI justâŠIâŠâ He started then stopped, redness was beginning to creep its way up his neck and you were surprised to hear he sounded⊠embarrassed.
âI canâŠâ He tried again, his voice suddenly lower and rougher than you had ever heard it before, âI just feel you more than anyone else. I always have.âÂ
Suddenly everything seemed to click into place, the feeling that had always been there between the two of you, the looks, the touches, the soft way he had always spoken to you, his sudden running away, the emotions he tried so hard to dampen around you. You couldnât believe you hadnât figured it out before, that his sudden avoidance was not a rejection of you. It was fear. Â
You took another step closer, watching his face closely as you grasped his wrist gently once more. His eyes widened at your touch and his entire body seemed to stiffen but he didnât pull away from you.Â
âWhat do you feel Hunter?â You asked softly, your voice steady despite the fact that you were thrumming with nervous energy. You couldnât stop the question from flowing out of you. Maybe it was wrong to ask, maybe it went against everything you had been taught, but you found that in that moment, as you stared up at him you didnât care anymore.Â
He let out a shuttering sigh before his head dipped just slightly to meet your gaze. His eyes were molten and so intense that you felt as if suddenly every nerve ending in your body were alight. You had kept your connection to the force limited in the past few months but you let your hold on it loosen in that moment, letting it surround the two of you. You listened to it sing, just as it had done every time the two of you had been together in the past.Â
âEverything. I can hear your voice in a crowd of a hundred, I can smell you even when youâre not around, and I can feel your heartbeat in a different room. When youâre near me I canât take my eyes off of you and even when youâre gone I canât stop thinking about you,â Hunterâs voice was a husky whisper, âIt-itâs not appropriate but I canât seem to control myself. So itâs just better if I leave you alone.âÂ
You were quiet for a long moment, considering before you spoke softly again, âBetter for who?âÂ
His eyes widened, as though he couldnât quite believe what you had just asked. Before you could have enough time to second guess yourself you reached out gently to place your hand over his heart. Even without your own heightened senses, you would have been able to feel the way it was pounding in his chest. You had never been so close to him before in such a way and the sensation was thrilling. It was as if the air itself between the two of you was humming with energy.Â
The brown of his irises had been almost completely engulfed by the black of his pupils as you looked back up at him, âI feel you too Hunter. I have from the moment we first met. The force feels different around you too, like youâre calling to me.âÂ
You closed your eyes as his hand reached up to cup your jaw ever so tentatively as if he were afraid that his touch would shatter you. Your skin thrummed under his touch and you pressed further into his hand, revelling in the sensation of finally being so close to him. For so long you had been so worried that his feelings for you had shifted. To have the truth finally out in the open felt as though the weight of the galaxy had suddenly lifted off of your shoulders.Â
âBut youâre a Jedi,â Hunter said softly, hesitantly, causing your eyes to pop open once more, âItâs not allowed.âÂ
âAttachment,â You replied as a wave of sadness washed through you. The words the Masters had once preached echoed through your head, âYouâre right, it is forbidden. Or it was. Iâve spent so many days and nights thinking about the Jedi Order, about all that has been lost. And I still donât know the answers to the questions I have, I donât know that I ever will. But I canât help but think that our ways only led to our downfall. Perhaps if we had done things differently if we hadnât been so blinded by our own moralityâŠâÂ
âI suppose weâll never know. But the one thing I do know is that I want whatever this is between us. Iâm not sure how something that feels so right, something that seems to be part of the force itself, can be considered wrong. I donât know how many days are left to me, I am no longer a Jedi but I will live the rest of my life in danger. I do not wish to live the way I was before. I want you Hunter, I have since the moment I met you.âÂ
As you had spoken Hunterâs head had slowly lowered down towards yours until you were nearly touching. At your final words, his forehead had pressed against your own. His gaze was still intense as ever so slowly the hand on your jaw tipped your face up towards his own. His voice was so low when he spoke again that you felt it more than heard it, âIâm yours.âÂ
His words were all the encouragement you needed to close the final gap between the two of you, capturing his lips with your own in a desperate kiss. He was warm and wonderful and everything you had ever dreamed of. The hand you still had resting over his heart curled in the fabric of his blacks, pulling yourself closer to him as he deepened the kiss. His free hand came up to press against the small of your back, the heat of it searing into your skin as you gently nipped at his lower lip. Youâd had dalliances with others before, that hadnât been forbidden , but you had never experienced anything quite like this. The force seemed to come alive as the two of you melted into one another, thrumming in the air around you. Everything else seemed to fade away into nothing , there was only Hunter.Â
A soft moan escaped him as you pressed further up into him, the sound rumbling in his chest and sending a shiver down your spine. You lifted your free hand to the back of his neck, fingers threading through his surprisingly soft hair. Youâd always wondered what it would have been like to run your fingers through it and reality was proving to be better than expectation. He seemed to shiver at your touch, the hand at the small of your back flexing just slightly as he pulled your hips flush against his own. You could still feel his heart racing beneath where your other hand was still fisted in his shirt as his tongue pressed against your lower lip. You parted your lips, giving him access and gasping at the new sensation as his tongue explored your mouth. It was dizzying finally being so close to him, to be this connected.Â
After what could have been simply minutes or hours Hunter pulled away from you, his chest heaving as he caught his breath. Your own pulse was still racing as he tipped his forehead back down to rest against your own. His eyes were closed as he pressed further into you, nose just brushing against your own as he held you close.Â
You were both silent for a long time, simply basking in the warmth and feeling of being in each other's arms. But finally, Hunter spoke, his voice low and rough, âIâm sorry that Iâve been avoiding you, that I made you feel as though youâd done something wrong,âÂ
Your eyes opened, gazing up into his face that was suddenly filled with sorrow. You let the hand at the back of his neck slowly move until it cupped his jaw, mimicking his own hold on you, âItâs ok Hunter, everything has been so complicated lately. And I understand how conflicted you must have felt, Iâve felt that way too.âÂ
Hunter let out a soft sigh and with it you felt all of the tension he had been holding dissipate, his muscles relaxing beneath your hand as he seemed to melt further into you. He closed his eyes as his thumb gently stroked along your jawline, the sensation of it was electric and you wanted nothing more than just stay there and bask in his presence forever.Â
His breath was warm against your face as each inhale brought you closer together. He tipped his head just slightly, his lips gently brushing against your own in the barest hint of a kiss, once, twice, before you pressed deeper into him. You shivered as your lips melted into his, tongue sliding over his full bottom lip before giving it the gentlest nip that made his chest rumble with another groan.Â
The two of you came slowly together and apart, gasps and gentle moans escaping you both and you discovered this new part of one another. Your heart was racing in your chest, your skin tingling with each soft touch of his lips to your own, your skin flaming beneath his hands. The feeling is intoxicating and you have just enough wherewithal to briefly wonder if this is exactly why attachment was forbidden, because truthfully now that you have him you never wish to let him go.Â
Eventually, you do pull away, instantly missing the contact but forcing yourself to look up at him as he moves both arms to wrap around your waist. You take a moment to simply look at him as your breath begins to even out once more, eyes tracing the lines of his face, the dark shadow of his tattoo. Youâve always appreciated how handsome he was but being so close is something special. You get lost in him for a moment as you notice the flecks of green in his warm brown eyes, the freckles across the bridge of his nose that are so faint they barely stand out against his deeply tanned skin, the dimple that appears only on the left side of his face as his mouth lifts into a soft smile as he gazes right back at you.Â
You blink once, twice, trying to clear your mind of the distraction that he is and focus on the thought that had originally pulled you away from him.Â
âHow is your headache?â You asked gently, a small wave of guilt for having woken him in the first place rushing through you. It had been the reason he had stayed behind after all, and it wasnât very often he had the chance to get any extra rest with the lifestyle you all led.Â
His mouth curled into a smile and he let out a small huff of laughter, his hair flopping over the top of his bandana as he shook his head, âItâs fine. Forgotten actually,â He replied as he moved his hand to cradle your face once more, his touch feather-light.Â
âGood,â You answered before you turned your head just slightly to press a soft kiss to the palm of his hand, âBut you should still get some rest. Itâs not easy to come by these days.âÂ
He hummed thoughtfully, his gaze still intense as he moved his hand away from your face, both trailing down slowly until he had your hands grasped in his own, âOnly if you join me though.â
You felt your face flush at his suggestion, you wanted to, desperately, but another worry suddenly entered your head at the idea, âThe others might be back soon, thoughâŠâ This was still new and while part of you didnât care if his brothers and sister saw the two of you together the other part wanted to keep this budding thing between you secret for just a little bit longer, if only for his sake as you knew how intensely private Hunter was.Â
Hunterâs mouth ticked up into a smirk again, his brown eyes dancing with amusement as he answered, âTech has been calculating the odds of us getting together since our very first mission and Omega has some Mantell mix riding on it.âÂ
You couldnât stop the soft laugh that burst out of you at that, a bright smile overtaking your face, âWell, we wouldnât want to let them down, now would we?âÂ
His eyes were warm and there was the barest hint of a smile on his face before he lifted your hand closer to his mouth, pressing a soft and quick kiss to your palm. Your smile brightened at his replication of your earlier gesture, the skin beneath his lips tingling from the contact.Â
You let him lead you back towards the bunks, your pulse racing beneath your skin as he climbed up into the middle first before holding a hand back out to you to steady you as you found your own footing. It was a tight squeeze, but after some mild shifting you finally settled, your head resting against his chest as he laid on his back, his arms coming up to wrap around you and hold you closer to him as you let your leg rest over top of his own. Being so close to him every feeling you had ever sensed from him was amplified and it was easy to just get lost in the sensation of him as you listened to the steady sound of his heartbeat. Neither of you said a word, for there really werenât any words to be said. Nothing had ever felt so right before and there was no way you were ever going to let that go, ever let him go again.Â
It didnât take long for your eyes to slip shut or for his own breathing to even out, his grip on you never lessening though even as he slept. The trauma of the past few years still haunted you as you lay with him but the thoughts were easier to push away as you focused on the force and the way it moved around the two of you, calming, gentle, right. You knew that nothing could ever truly repair the damage left by your losses but for the first time in a very long time, there was a glimmer of hope brewing in your chest. With Hunter, there was a chance at a future, something you hadnât been able to even consider since Order-66 had been issued.Â
You werenât sure what that future would hold, for any of you, but right now, wrapped up gently in Hunterâs arms you felt safer than you ever had and there was nowhere else in the galaxy you would rather be.Â
Ah so here we go...
My weekly paragraph... well novel.
My key moments:
- Echo and readers moment of reunion, her realising its actually him and not a trick of her mind. My precious ones.
- "Oh. She's brillant" yes, yes that child is. Just Omega in general the whole time proving her capability, care, leadership, and being the gem she is.
- Tech's return and how casual he is about it.
- Hemlock stressing the whole time. He was too cruel this chapter, bro. I skimmed the torture scenes that hurt too much. Specifically in getting the reader to submit, whoo boy.
- Tech's return.
- All of them being generally clued in to poor readers' pain, noting how's she beat down and her genuine fear. That's a neat little detail I loved every time I saw it.
- That hangerbay scene with Hunter reacting to readers' lasersword (as he calls it). Love. Love. Love. The following paragraphs of the two noticing each other. Urgh, I wanted nothing more than their reunion right then and there.
- Tech's return.
- Wrecker and Echo đ„Č but also â€ïž they just care about each other so much.
- Hunter and Crosshair together and going after the girls đ« and â€ïž
- The whole scene on the bridge (Rip Scorch) I just love that whole moment from the tension, desperation, pain to the protectiveness, loyalty, and love. Such a wonderful gut-twister of a moment. Omega and reader hugging â€ïž Crosshair and Omega â€ïž "What no hug for us?" Followed by a group hug. My heart! My soul! My loves!
- Hunter and his love reuniting. I sobbed. It's all I've wanted these last few chapters, and we finally got it. Grinned at my phone with tears in my eyes. Perfection.
- The team reunion!!! Tech and Phee together. Urgh be still my throbbing heart!! It hurts we never truly got it! But that's okay cause this chapter is Canon and everyone's back together and safe and happy â€ïžâ€ïž Perfection. Perfection. Perfection.
- Crosshairâs flabbergasted reaction to Tech and Phee. *chefs kiss*
- The moment under the tree with all of them and the moment between Hunter and Readerđ„č. I'm healed. Well and truly. Im healed.
I know exactly what I want you to be Hunter. Put a ring on it.
Spectacular job! This is the ending we deserved but never got đ„Č. And still more to come â€ïž this series I have loved since the moment I discovered its existence and boy what a privilege to read and experience while it's was still being written.
Thank you, dear author. I am eagerly awaiting your update.

Night had fallen by the time Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair had made more progress towards the base but even then, it was slow going. Patrols had increased and Wreckerâs injury was affecting him far more than he would like, they kept needing to stop to attend to it.
âOw.â Wrecker complained as Hunter stuck him with another med patch.
âDid you think wrestling that creature was a good idea?â Crosshair snarked.
âAt the time, yes.â Wrecker replied stubbornly.
âThe base is five klicks away. Can you make it?â Hunter offered his hand out to Wrecker to get him back on his feet.
âHa. Try and stop me.â Wrecker responded as he grasped Hunterâs hand.
Hunter waited a second to make sure the coast was clear before he led the way again.
--
Hemlock worked on drowning out the persistent blaring alarm as he walked down the corridor. His lack of success with you and Tech should not matter. He had enough to know how this squad operated. He still had everything under control. He stopped in front of the oncoming patrol group. âGuard the vault until the security lockdown is lifted.â
âDr. Hemlock, one of the insurgents has been captured.â Scorch informed him.
Hemlock followed him down the side corridor towards the cells.
--
Hemlock opened the prison door to see a familiar face. He massaged the palm of his gloved hand as he entered the room. âAligning yourself with insurgent clonesâŠâ He sighed, âNot a good look, Rampart.â
âYouâre surprisingly calm, considering this secure and secret facility has been compromised.â Rampart said with a cool countenance. âI canât imagine the Emperor will be pleased about that.â
Hemlock wasnât about to let this failure of a man get under his skin. âAll that time you spent on Kamino, yet you learned nothing about how clones think. I knew Clone Force 99 would eventually attempt to recover Omega and their Jedi. Their failure is inevitable.â
âThe Jedi, I understand. But all this for the young clone too. I fail to see how sheâs of value to you.â
Hemlock resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Of course, this fool didnât understand. âWhat I am working on is beyond your understanding. Something so vital to the Empire, it makes me indispensable. Unlike yourself.â He waltzed out the cell.
--
âThe longer this lockdown continues, the higher the chance youâll be discovered.â Emerie advised cautiously as Echo kept working through the system. âWe need to move. Now.â
âWhy canât I find any record of the vault Omegaâs held in? Or this different cell you were talking about.â
âThese databanks are heavily encrypted. The vault and the cell are several levels down. Hemlock keeps them under heavy guard, but I can get you inside.â
Echo unplugged and reattached his hand as he faced Emerie. âWhy are you helping me?â
âBecause I was wrong about this place. And-â She inhaled sharply, âIâm trying to do the right thing.â
The sincere way in which she spoke allowed Echo to view her in a new light. He gave her a respectful nod before he donned his trooper helmet and signalled for her to lead the way.
--
âYou want us to do what?â Eva double checked as Omega finished telling them the plan.
âItâs how weâre going to escape.â Omega reminded them.
âBut it sounds dangerous.â Sami said worriedly.
âMy squad I told you about? Theyâre here. If we can get out of this room and find them, we can all go home.â
âWhat about your friend?â Jax asked.
Omega had to push you to the back of her mind, as much as it pained her to do so. âMy first objective is to get you all home first.â
Home. The word felt so foreign to them now.
âYou really think this will work?â Eva asked softly.
âIâll make sure of it.â Omega promised. âIâve been trained for this. Letâs get into position.â
Doing as she said, each of the kids took up a seat at a different table to wait on Samiâs signal that they were clear to start.
Sami looked up at the window to see Dr. Scalder step away which was when she tapped her puzzle piece on the table.
Omega readied her tool as Jax and Eva approached the supervising droid.
âMy game is broken.â Eva held the device out to the droid. âCan you fix it?â
Omega snuck up behind the droid and stabbed the droidâs power centre. The three of them manoeuvred it into her cell where she could get to work on reprograming it.
Eva and Jax kept an eye out for Samiâs signal and Eva saw the Pantoran knock over the stack of pieces which only meant one thing, âDr. Scalder is on her way. Hurry.â
âYouâve done this before, right?â Jax asked as Omega seemed no closer to getting whatever it was that she needed to do to the droid completed.
âYes, but not on this type of droid.â Omega hissed as she hurriedly worked on the wires in the droidâs main control panel.
--
Dr. Scalder entered the lab and asked the specimen still at the table, âWhere are the others?â
Sami stayed silent and held Bayrn close to her.
âSp-39, I asked you a question.â
Sami pointed behind Dr. Scalder as she saw the three of them approaching.
âWe w-were with the droid.â Eva said quietly, her head hanging in automatic submission.
Dr. Scalder sighed in exasperation. âAnother scan wasnât scheduled. Tell me what you were really doing.â
âEvaâs telling the truth.â Omega said calmy as the droid drew closer to Dr. Scalder. âWe were with the droid.â
âDr. Karr has been too lenient with you all. Return to your alcoves. A few days of isolation should remind you-â That was all she got to say before a needle pierced her skin and she fell unconscious.
âIt worked.â Sammi gasped as Bayrn released a few happy babbles.
âYou did great.â Omega praised. âNow, we have to hurry. Droid, guard the door. Sami, prep the sling for Bayrn.â
Omega dashed into her room and used her tool to get under the first panel before she could tear the rest down. Turning to the others and seeing that Bayrn was now secure on Jaxâs back and Eva had her doll strapped to her, Omega asked, âReady?â
âReady.â Jax confirmed.
Omega led them into the walls as part to of their escape was underway.
--
Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair paused again as another ship passed overhead.
âHeâs gonna need another med patch.â Crosshair advised Hunter as he heard Wreckerâs strained grunt and the way he kept bringing his hand to his chest.
âWeâre out.â Hunter said regrettably. Seeing Wrecker so hurt was a rare thing and it made the decision to carry on forward to Tantiss that bit harder.
Wrecker got to his feet with a groan. âI- I can make it.â
Hunter and Crosshair shared a concerned look, but they followed in their brotherâs insistent footsteps through the jungle yet again.
--
Emerie led the way to the vault, with Echo walking a few paces behind.
Echo took in the corridor awash with red beams of light. âThe kids who are held in here, whereâd they come from?â
âThe Empire used bounty hunters to retrieve them. Their genetic material was required for certain medical testing. I didnât know about them until recently. I couldnât help them. Until now.â Emerie paused by the vault door.
âWell, how do the two of them fit into all this?â Echo asked as he thought about you and Omega. âThese kids, are they like-â
âI believe they could be, yes. As for Omega, sheâs vital to Hemlockâs main objective for the Emperor. Project Necromancer.â
âAnd (Y/N)?â
âHemlock wanted her blood for the same purposes as these children, but he also had ulterior motives that his focus has shifted more towards. He stopped taking her samples a while ago.â
âShifted to what?â Echo asked warily.
Emerie swallowed, âHe wants her to join his operatives. He thinks he can⊠condition her the same way.â
All of what Emerie said made his blood run cold. âDonât like the sound of that.â
--
âEverybody good?â Omega asked to the group behind her as they all squeezed along the path she had found to their destination.
âBayrnâs getting restless. H- He wonât be quiet for much longer.â Jax warned.
âDonât worry. Things are about to get very loud anyways.â Omega stopped and peered through the slats in the wall and saw that the Zillo Beast and the number of personnel watching it was still the same as what it had been when sheâd first came upon it. âWait here.â She removed the grate and sneakily clambered out and made her way to where the controls that were keeping the beast contained were situated.
However, just as she reached it and was determining which buttons did what, she heard Bayrnâs wails echo throughout the chamber, and she knew she had to hurry. She sussed out what controls would get her what she needed and when the button lit up and she pulled on the lever, she heard the winning sound of the system powering down.
As the troopers rallied to try to contain the now very awake and active Zillo Beast, she darted back and hid with the others in the wall once more and had the joy of watching her plan come to fruition.
The chaos and destruction that unfolded was something she knew Wrecker would be proud of.
--
Emerie opened the main vault door but was taken aback by what greeted her. âWhatâs going on in here?â She inquired as Dr. Scalder was escorted past- groaning and clutching at her head. But what concerned her more was the intense conversation occurring between Dr. Hemlock and Scorch.
âOmega and the specimens have escaped.â Hemlock informed her, rage simmering in his voice. âDue to Dr. Scalderâs incompetence, they exploited a weak point in within the walls. She will be dealt with.â
Just as he said that there was an intense rumble that shook the entire facility and the lights flickered off and on again.
âThe Zilloâs loose in the containment level.â Scorch revealed as the information came through his comms.
Whatever was happening had not been what heâd anticipated, clearly, heâd been wise to seek the information from you and Tech, it was just an unfortunate setback that he had been unable to acquire it but no matter, he was still in control. Now that he knew Omega was out, he could go back to what he already knew about their ways. âShut down the reactor and send a diversion to secure the transport hangar.â Hemlock said sharply. âCheck on SP-42, Dr. Karr. Then find Omega. Consider your fate now tied to hers.â He exited the vault.
âSP-42?â Echo murmured, already knowing and fearing the answer.
âYes.â Emerie confirmed quietly as the other troopers departed. She waited until everyone else left before she spoke to Echo in a louder voice, âI donât understand. Where could the children have gone?â
Echo may not have understood a lot about the goings on in Tantiss but there was one thing about this that he did know for certain. âOmega. She released the Zillo.â
âHow do you know that?â
âBecause itâs exactly what Iâd do.â He replied with a cheery sense of pride. âSheâs splitting their numbers and creating a diversion. Come on.â
The two of them jogged out of the lab and Emerie led the way to you.
--
Echo followed Emerie as she took another sharp turn down a corridor and then opened a set of doors that led to another small, tight corridor with a door a few metres down.
Emerie rifled through one of the compartments in the walls outside the cell and took out your lightsaber which she clipped to her belt before she grabbed the proper medkit. Then, she grabbed a small set of keys from her person and cautiously opened the door, â(Y/N), itâs Emerie and Echo. Weâre here to get you out.â
Echoâs mouth went dry as he saw you for the first time since Teth and he took in the dirtied and blood-stained uniform. It was definitely better that he found you like this instead of Hunter but even then, he was still having to steady his own breathing.
âEmerie, I donât mean to tell you how to do your job, but youâre supposed to stick me with the needle before you say things like that.â You croaked through dry and cracked lips as you kept your eyes shut.
Echo took in the mix of fresh and fading bruises on your face and the way your body was racked with exhaustion. Emerieâs prior information did not even come close to accurate- this wasnât conditioning, it was torture. âYou just allowed this to happen?â He questioned angrily as he snatched the key from Emerie and strode over to your slumped form.
âOh, now thatâs good. He almost sounds like him.â You complimented with a weary sigh.
âI didnât mean to- Hemlock- he was-â She stopped any attempt at defence because no matter what, sheâd played a part in this. âI did what I could to help her.â
âOpen your eyes and look at me.â Echo implored as he undid your chains and took off his helmet.
âNo.â You whimpered. âItâs a trick. Itâs always a trick.â
âItâs not a trick.â Echo reassured you as he rested both hands on your shoulders. âOpen your eyes.â
âEcho doesnât have two hands.â You said, aggressively shaking your head as you kept your eyes tightly shut.
âLook at me.â
âNo.â
âLook at me.â Echo pleaded. Time wasnât on his side here and he needed you back with them.
He sounded so real; you couldnât help yourself. You slowly opened your eyes and took in the familiar face and the eyes that were filled with worry as they looked at you. âEcho?â You whispered; your tone filled with uncertainty.
âYeah, itâs me.â
âYouâre here? This is real?â Even though Omega had told you this would happen, you hadnât allowed yourself to fully believe it.
âItâs real. And the others are on their way.â He confirmed with a small reassuring smile.
You flung your arms around him and as he returned your embrace, you already began to feel more alive than you had since arriving here.
âCome on, we gotta get you on your feet.â Echo supported you as you shakily stood up.
âWhereâs- whereâs Omega?â You said through gritted teeth as your body protested the movement. You knew she had a plan of her own but with Echo and Emerie here, you had to wonder why she wasnât with them.
Emerie gave you a round of E-bacta shots to get you closer to the level of fitness they needed you to be.
At the first injection, you automatically flinched away from her and into Echoâs side.
Emerie paused and chastised herself for being so thoughtless. She held up her hands in a pacifying gesture and apologised, âSorry. Itâs just bacta to help you heal quickly.â But she waited for you to give the okay before she went any further.
You regarded her suspiciously and made no moves to allow her to carry on. You were on edge, just waiting for the familiar effects to set in and for this to all come crashing down around you.
Echo felt your body go rigid as you leaned into him. Heâd never seen you like this and it unnerved him. He was so used to seeing you remain unphased, no matter what came your way. Whatever torture Hemlock had done to you had left far more than physical marks. âI saw her grab the med supplies. She wants to help.â He reassured you gently.
You glanced at his face but saw honesty and so you nodded to Emerie to continue.
Once you were more relaxed, Echo answered your question. âOmegaâs already helped us out. Her plan to release the Zillo Beast has worked very well so far. Their forces are a bit stretched and frantic at the moment.â He informed you proudly.
âOh, sheâs brilliant.â You murmured with affectionate admiration.
Echo nodded in agreement as Emerie finished tending to you.
âHey, wait a minute, you do have another hand?!â You gawped before wincing as the final injection entered your skin- the pricks were still a painful reminder of what you had endured here.
âNot exactly the time for that.â Echo reminded you.
âWe cannot linger here. We need to keep moving.â Emerie agreed hastily as she put the medical supplies away.
You nodded sheepishly. âYup, youâre right, youâre right. Keep that for later.â
Echo picked up his helmet and put it over his head. âCan you walk?â Echo asked.
You rolled your sore shoulders as you took a steadying breath and nodded. âThe bacta is working. Letâs go.â You called on the Force to help you find that extra bit of strength as you all exited the cell.
--
The three of them stopped again and Crosshair used his binoculars to scan ahead. He saw a squad of troopers with lurca hounds and everything heâd been trying to supress since arriving back here came rushing back. His hand trembled and his breathing came to him in short pants. He couldnât do this. His brothers couldnât do this; he wouldnât let them. âTheyâve got heavy patrols guarding the perimeter with lurca hounds.â
âTold you we shouldâve brought Batcher.â Wrecker joked feebly, groaning in pain and bracing himself against a tree. He noticed the helmeted looks of concern that were sent his way from both his brothers. âStop looking at me like that! Iâm fine!â He insisted through another groan.
âNo, youâre not.â Crosshair disagreed strongly. âChange of plans. You two, head to the communications array and try to contact Rex.â He drew his sniper rifle. âIâll infiltrate the base myself.â
âNot happening.â Hunter objected.
âYeah, weâve handled worse situations than this. Countless-â
âWake up, Wrecker.â Crosshair snapped. âClone Force 99 died with Tech.â His voice dropped slightly, âWeâre not that squad anymore.â
Wrecker and Hunter reflected on that for a moment and Crosshair was right, they werenât, it was true. But theyâd become something more, hadnât they? Something that meant far more than just a squad title for a war effort. And Tech, alive or dead, was a part of that too.
âIâve been inside that mountain. I know what weâre up against. If we all go in, weâre not all making it out.â Crosshair continued. â(Y/N) and Omega need you both. So, Iâm doing this alone. Itâs- itâs what I deserve.â He said, almost to himself.
Hunter wasnât going to accept that or even entertain the possibility. âDonât even think about Plan 99, Crosshair. They need all of us, and so do those clones.â He stood facing his brother, so he knew, even with his helmet on, that he meant every word.
âWeâve always known the risks. And so did Tech.â Wrecker placed a hand on Crosshairâs shoulder.
The sounds of the lurca hounds in distress got their focus back and Hunter looked through his binoculars just as the hounds were running away from their handlers.
âWhatâs going on?â Wrecker asked.
A deep banging and screaming of dying troopers answered his question as the Zillo Beast emerged from the base with a piercing roar.
Crosshair knew that could only be the result of one of three people. âWhose handiwork?â
âOmegaâs.â Hunter and Wrecker said in unison.
âIf sheâs giving us a way in, letâs not waste it.â Hunter said before setting off towards the base again.
--
Satisfied that it was safe to emerge, Omega removed the grate and led the way over to the ladder that ran up the entirety of the base.
âYou want us to climb up t-that?â Jax asked nervously.
âThe Zillo got out this way. So can we.â Omega replied but she saw a familiar but fearful reluctance on Jaxâs face. âWhatâs wrong?â She asked kindly.
âIâm not good with heights.â Jax admitted. âI- I guess Iâd make a poor soldier.â He said shamefully.
Omegaâs eyes softened. âMy brother Wrecker hates heights too. And heâs the strongest soldier I know.â She touched Jaxâs shoulder in reassurance, âJust stay focused on whatâs ahead, not whatâs below.â She waved them all over and led the climb up the ladder.
--
âThe Zillo breached the bay doors and fled to the jungle after wiping out two full divisions of troopers.â Scorch said as he entered the control room. âWe need reinforcements.â
Hemlock kept his hands behind his back but clenched his covered hand into a fist. âSend the shuttles after the Zillo.â
âBut, sir, without air support, the rogue clones could exploit our weakened defences.â
âOf course they will. Do it.â Hemlock strode out of the control room.
--
Hemlock entered the training room and powered up the system. Even though he hadnât wanted to use them just yet, the situation called for it and it was time they had a true test. Even though theyâd only come up against you, Hemlock had no doubt that they were ready and could get him the results he needed. He watched with a dark smile as they emerged from their capsules.
He said nothing to them yet, he just motioned for them to follow him out but as he did so, he was interrupted by Scorch again.
âSir, the Jedi has escaped.â Scorch told Hemlock. âShould I send a squadron to look for her?â
Hemlock massaged his gloved palm harder as he felt that rage flare up again but then a remarkable sense of calm overcame him, and a new idea emerged from the clarity. Perhaps this was the way to go after all. âNo need, Commander. Send a squad to accompany the operatives to the hangar bay and when she is found, I want her alive. I want all of Clone Force 99 alive.â He nodded to his soldiers to leave for the hangar.
Now, you all would do the work for him.
All he had to do was wait.
--
The three of you waited until the corridor was clear before you followed Emerie around the corner and down towards another door.
Emerie slid her datapad into the panel and programmed the door to open, but it only opened a fraction before the system shorted out.
Echo peered through the gap and saw the wreckage ahead. âWeâre on the right track. Omega definitely came through here.â
âAnd went where? How are they getting around unseen?â Emerie asked.
Echo followed up path of chaos up the way. âWhatâs at the top of this shaft?â He moved out the way so Emerie could look.
âIt leads up to one of the transport hangars.â
âAny chance you know a shortcut?â Echo checked.
Emerie nodded and made to leave the area.
You didnât follow them, instead you puffed out a short breath, âThis isnât going to work.â
Echo and Emerie paused and looked back at you.
âI canât stay with the two of you. The fact we havenât been caught yet is incredibly fortunate but the longer Iâm with you, the more likely it is thatâll happen. We canât risk either of you being discovered.â
âWell, what do you suggest?â Echo asked.
âYou two can go find Omega and those kids, Iâll find Hunter and the others.â
âYou donât know the way.â Emerie pointed out.
âSure I do.â You motioned through the gap in the door. âJust follow the mess and head straight up, right? I can get there quicker than you can now that Iâm free and feeling a lot better.â
âThere will be soldiers and youâre not 100%. And thereâs no clear way through either.â
âIâm a lot more capable when Iâm not bound and tortured.â You argued pointedly.
âItâs still not a viable-â
âEchoâŠâ You tilted your head in his direction. âPlease tell her.â
Echo nodded to you and then spoke to Emerie, âShe can do it. Plus, you wonât really be able to stop her. There are only two that could, one of them is somewhere in this base and the other is doing his best to get here.â
âHeâs right. Youâve helped heal me and I think youâll find I can be far more stubborn and irritating when Iâm not in a permanent state of pain.â You said with a simple shrug.
Emerie sighed but conceded the matter. The debate wouldnât get them anywhere and, thanks to the bacta, you were on the mend. Plus, you had skills that would aid you in this task. âVery well. Youâll need this.â She handed you your weapon.
You took your lightsaber from her with a nod of thanks.
âFor what itâs worth, Iâm sorry. I shouldâve done more to stop him.â
You offered her a slight smile. âWell, you did stop me bleeding out that one time soâŠâ
Emerie wasnât about to let you let her off the hook so easily. âI shouldâve done more.â She repeated seriously.
âYouâre doing more now.â You said, dipping your head in acceptance of her words.
Echo rested his left hand on your shoulder. âBe careful.â
You placed your own hand on his upper arm. âYou too.â With that, you used the Force to widen the gap in the door and hurried through it.
Echo and Emerie began their more traditional route.
--
You took in the levels of destruction ahead of you and you had to hand it to both Omega and the Zillo Beast, they definitely didnât do things by halves.
Calling on the Force, you jumped to the next highest safe point you could reach, and kept that going when you could, climbing quickly when you couldnât, and the hangar was drawing closer by the minute.
You knew it wouldnât be long before you saw them again.
But you also knew it would be far from over when you reached them.
--
Blasters drawn, the three of them had managed to reach the transport hangar and sneak their way in. The entire hangar was decimated, with bits of itâs interior now reduced to piles of scrap metal. Fires were dying all around them.
Just as Hunter was assessing the situation, he dodged the blaster bolt aimed right at his head.
They all took cover behind some scrap metal and looked ahead at the emerging squad of troopers.
âWhat now?â Wrecker grunted.
Crosshair was the first to peer out and he saw the stormtroopers but that wasnât what unnerved him. The sight of four operative soldiers standing on a pile of wreckage is what alarmed him. They couldnât handle this.
âHow many?â Wrecker asked as he saw Crosshair press himself back against the scrapheap.
âToo many.â
âW-we can take âem.â
Crosshair steadied his shaking hand. âNo we canât. Not in your condition. We need to fall back.â
âCrosshair-â Hunter tried to argue, not trusting that Crosshair was planning.
âGo! Iâll be right behind you.â Crosshair placed a sticky bomb on the end of his rifle and fired it at a fixture hanging over the main area of the transport bay.
As they began their retreat, the troopers starting firing on them and advancing towards them.
They could only be on the defence as they fired back.
--
You heard blaster fire above you and- breathing hard after the strenuous climb- with one final jump, you reached the ruined transport hangar. Some wreckage blocked your path but you used the Force to push it out your way and the sight that greeted you had your stomach lurching. Troopers were everywhere and, although you had been blindfolded the entire time, you knew the four armoured soldiers making their way through the hordes of soldiers were the operatives Hemlock had pitted you against and were what he wanted you to become. You knew yourself that you still werenât ready for this type of combat, but you couldnât do nothing.
You took a revitalising breath as you centred yourself and blocked the lingering pain you were feeling from your mind before you ignited your lightsaber, the shining blue blade giving you that added strength you needed.
With a Force-aided leap, you sailed over the heads of troopers and placed yourself between them and the clones behind you.
--
For a moment, time stood still.
Hunter stopped falling back as he heard that familiar ignition sound and his head snapped towards the source and his breath caught in his throat as he saw you.
It was you. Standing in a soiled prison uniform but in a wash of blue light that stood out from the ember flames was you.
However, something was off as you blocked the blaster fire and struck down the troopers around you. Your movements werenât quite as fluid or easy as they typically were. You moved stiffly, almost cautiously, and it was obvious to him that you were hurting. He could only let the worst imaginings take hold of him as he thought about what had happened to you and his blood boiled as anger raged through him.
Hunter got a hold of himself and fired at a trooper that was taking aim for your back.
At the sound of a body dropping next to you, you turned and followed the path the shot took, and sharp gasp left your throat.
Everything else around you slowed down and faded into the background as you caught his helmeted gaze. The paint, like his brotherâs, had been stripped from his armour, but it was him. He could wear a hundred disguises, decorate his armour in a hundred different ways and youâd know it was him. Youâd know him anywhere.
Time swiftly righted itself swiftly again once Crosshairâs bomb went off, shaking the already weak integrity that remained of the hangar. The entire room trembled. Â
You cut through the final trooper before you turned off your saber and jumped over the falling ceiling beam. You saw the top of where the hangar bay doors used to be begun to collapse which threatened to block their way out and so you called on the Force and held the structure in place. You could buy them enough time to get out and then you could follow.
But you sensed the oncoming threat a second too late.
One of the larger operatives tackled your waist and you both went sliding along the floor.
--
Hunter and Wrecker watched as the once steady structure started to fall once more. Clearly, whatever help you were providing was no longer available. Now, the approaching gunship was their main concern.
Hunter shoved Wrecker out of the line of fire but the resulting explosions behind him threw him across the room where he clattered into a heap of wreckage and the knock-on impact from the blast saw more falling pieces land on top of him. Darkness engulfed him.
Crosshair killed the pilot and began to run over to the two of them.
Wrecker dashed over to where his brother had fallen, âHunter!â He removed the metal and picked him up, but he didnât get very far before a weighted bolas wrapped around his legs, causing him to trip and drop Hunter.
Crosshair caught up to Wrecker, holstered his sniper rifle, and took the vibroblade from the side of Wreckerâs leg and worked on cutting through the rope but he saw another operative heading straight for him. He wasnât able to draw his blaster in time. The blow landed and sent him careening backwards.
Wrecker couldnât do anything to help his brother either. The operative that had tripped him up and hit Crosshair now towered above him and pressed his electrostaff straight into the gash in his chest and the pain was excruciating. His entire body was engulfed by the electric current and he didnât have the energy to fight against the man above him or the hurt anymore, it all got too much, and he succumbed to the darkness.
Stars danced in front of Crosshairâs eyes as his back hit against another piece of debris and his head snapped back against the metal, but he saw that Wrecker was in trouble and he made himself stay awake as he searched for his weapon which he saw a few metres to his right. But his attempts to grab it were thwarted instantly. Crosshair groaned as a foot stamped down on his wrist before he could reach his blaster.
CX-2 caught the vibrosword from his counterpart before he looked down at the pathetic form beneath him, âYou should be more careful with your shooting hand.â
Those were the last words Crosshair registered before he saw the blade descend and he felt a deep, searing pain and his sight went black.
--
You and the operative that had attacked you had been engaged in a fight all on your own whilst that had all gone down.
The operative had gained the upper hand in the tussle and your lightsaber had escaped your hold in the struggle.
Right now, you were doing your best to stay conscious as the operative straddled your chest and wrapped his hands around your throat, squeezing hard.
You powerfully facepalmed the underside of his chin so his neck whipped back, stunning him for a second but it was a much needed second.
With that second, his hold on your neck loosened and you were able to remove his hands from you. You pushed him off you and to the side of your body where, with a ragged breath, you got to your feet.
You stomped down hard on his stomach as he attempted to sit up. With one hand, you used the Force to keep him flat on the ground- his futile struggles spurring you on. With the other hand, you called your lightsaber to your it and activated your blade as you swung it downâŠ
âStop.â
Your blade hovered over the operativeâs chest as you angled your head in the direction of the recognisable voice. Your breathing left you in short, uneven pants as you glared at him.
âSurrender or his head goes next.â
Your mouth went dry as you saw what the operative from Pabu was talking about. Crosshairâs shooting hand had been cut clean off and now the long vibroblade weapon was resting over his neck.
âPut your weapon down, or they all die.â
You scanned for the other two and saw another operative standing over Wrecker with an electrospear pressing down on what appeared to be an open chest wound and Hunter lay limp and unmoving on the ground.
The only reassuring thing about this situation was that they all were still breathing. Unconscious, but still alive. And thatâs how you wanted to keep them.
You clenched your jaw and ground out a defeated breath as you disengaged your weapon and released your hold of the soldier beneath you.
Your operative got to his feet and snatched your weapon from you and, with a hard punch to your jaw, took your arms behind your back and held your wrists together in a strong and unnecessarily tight grip.
You were too dazed to do anything to resist it.
They moved you all out and back into Tantiss base.
--
Omega reached the top of the level that led to the transport hangar. As theyâd all drawn nearer, they had heard the sounds of blaster fire, but it had all stopped now. She only hoped that meant Hunter and the others had gotten through.
She headed off for the hangar bay, the children following behind.
--
Echo and Emerie exited the lift and made for the but both of them slowed as they saw a group of operatives go down the corridor.
There were three soldiers unconscious on hovercrafts.
You were pushed along behind them, your arms held securely behind you by one of the soldiers, a fresh purple bruise on your jaw.
Emerie glanced at Echo and even with the helmet on, she could tell he was worried, âIs that the rest of your squad?â She asked as they all rounded the corner.
âYeah.â Echo said, his voice low. âWhere are they being taken?â
âI donât know. But Hemlock will keep them well guarded.â
âI can handle that. But we have to find the children first.â
Emerie waited a second in case he wanted to change his mind. She could tell his mind was still with all of you, but he was pushing through for the current objective. âThe science hangar is up ahead.â
--
Omega guided the others into the room and took cover by a crate as they all took in the destruction. Whatever had happened here wasnât solely due to the Zillo Beast anymore- a firefight had occurred here too.
âDo you see your squad?â Eva whispered to Omega.
âNot yet.â
âHey! You donât belong here. Call it in.â
Omega jumped to her feet and started to back away from the two troopers, but two stun blasts shot above her head towards the men. She turned back around to see her rescuer was another stormtrooper.
âCausing chaos, Havoc 5?â
âEcho?â Omega gasped happily.
Echo removed his helmet and smiled, âHey kid.â He then saw more children come out from behind Omega. âAnd other kids.â
âThe shuttles in bay four are still operational.â Emerie informed him as she came back from checking them out.
âYouâre helping us, Dr. Karr?â Eva said in surprise.
âI am. But we must hurry.â
Echo put his helmet back on and he and Emerie led the way to the shuttle at a run.
As they reached the shuttle, Omega paused and looked around her. âWait. Where are Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair? And (Y/N), weâve got to free her!â
âWe got her out, but we split up and now, theyâre all detained together.â Echo told her.
âYou mean captured?â
âFor now.â Echo turned to Emerie and slotted his blaster under his arm. âCan you fly that shuttle?â
âYes. Why?â
Echo brought out a datacard and gave it to her. âTake the kids to these coordinates. Weâll meet you there.â
Sami, Jax and Eva all looked at one another anxiously.
âYouâre not coming with us?â Jax asked Omega.
âThere are more prisoners inside, including my family. I canât leave without them.â Omega welcomed their group embrace and rubbed Bayrnâs head. âDonât worry. Emerieâs taking you someplace safe. Weâll meet you there.â The kids let her go and stepped away.
âHere.â Emerie passed her datapad to Omega. âThis will help you access all wings of the facility.â
âLook after them.â Omega instructed her sister.
âYou have my word.â Emerie promised. She placed her hand on Omegaâs shoulder. âBe careful, Omega. AndâŠâ Emerie took a short breath before she shared her final bit of what she hoped was useful intel. âAnd if you can, check out the maintenance closet in the prison level. It isnât what it says, Hemlock spent almost as much time there as he did with your Jedi friend, and he didnât tell me why. But he never did anything without a purpose. Heâs hiding something there; I just donât know what.â
âTech was more resistant to my methods this time.â Hemlockâs words echoed in her head, and she couldnât help it, theories and hope started to stir in her. She nodded to Emerie before she and Echo took off back to the base and back to the rest of you.
âYou ready?â Echo asked as the door opened just as the shuttle with Emerie took off and away to safety.
Sheâd succeeded in her initial objective. Now it was time for the next one. âLetâs complete the mission.â
--
This was no nightmare.
This was no illusion.
This was no trick.
This was not a figment of your imagination.
You were not under the influence of any injection or serum.
There was no denying what you were hearing and seeing now.
There was no blocking out this type of agony that you were experiencing.
Hunterâs moans and screams of pain as the electricity crackled against his temples and jolted through the rest of his body were real.
It was all horrifyingly, heartbreakingly real.
And no matter how much you struggled against your captorâs hold, you were helpless to do anything but watch and listen.
There was no convincing yourself that it wasnât happening.
And you knew would do anything to make it stop.
Hemlock studied the room. Your hands were now bound in cuffs in front of your body, but one operative still kept a vice-like grip on your shoulder. Hunter and the others were in their capsules, bound and powerless. Crosshair and Wrecker were still unconscious, and Crosshairâs right wrist was being sealed off by a droid. He ignored you for the moment, your time would come soon, for now, his attention lied with Hunter. He signalled for the machine to be turned off.
Hunter panted heavily as the torture finally stopped. Everything hurt, his limbs burned, his head felt like it was going to explode- and that was just from this. He could still fill a deep soreness in his ribs from the blast in the hangar bay. And right now, it may have stopped but he still felt the current in his veins, so the pain endured. He could barely keep his eyes open. He attempted to free his hands from the binders, but they were too tight. Then, he heard Hemlockâs cool, quiet voice.
âThe last time we crossed paths, you had just lost a member of your squad. And it appears history may repeat itself. CT-9904 resisted my conditioning in the past, but Iâve made alterations to my methods. Something your⊠partner can attest to. If you all survive, you will make fine operatives.â
Hunter followed Hemlockâs gaze to where Wrecker and Crosshair were and the wave of guilt that he felt upon seeing what heâd brought on them made way for new type of hurt to enter the mix. Then his sights found yours and he saw the fear and distress in your eyes at Hemlockâs words. He had rarely seen you look so genuinely terrified and yet whatever else Hemlock was talking about got that from you.
âNo!â You shouted as you violently fought against the hand holding you back. You couldnât bear it if they suffered that fate or had to go through anymore of this.
Hemlock ignored you and approached Hunter. âAnd if not, well, thereâs no shortage of clones to test on next.â
âWeâll survive. But you wonât.â Hunter said with as much strength as he could muster.
Hemlock regarded the clone pitifully and indicated to the operative to start the process once more.
Hunter couldnât help the anguished shouts that left him as he felt that electric fire deep in his body once more, each nerve felt like it was burning away.
âStop! Stop hurting him!â You cried out as you pulled against the hand on your shoulder. You couldnât tear your eyes away from him. You wanted to take his pain away.
Hemlock turned to you and hummed out a pleased laugh as he saw the torment on your face. He had you right where he wanted you. âDo you know I finally figured something out?â
You breathed heavily as Hemlock touched the recent bruise on your jaw but did nothing to stop him in case it made things worse for the rest of them.
âYou didnât succumb to my methods because they werenât real. I was foolish to think a Jedi such as yourself would be so easily fooled by mind games. You needed the element of doubt removed and look at the results. One glimpse of the real thing and see how you quickly you fall apart.â Hemlock said smugly.
You werenât looking at the doctor, you were looking past him to at the man you loved with every part of you.
The man who had brought you into a crazy, wonderful family.
The man who had shown you more patience and care than you had ever deserved.
The man who had enabled you to open your heart to everything he had to offer and who had shown you that attachment could be a beautiful thing.
The man who had your heart and soul.
But was now being put through the worst kind of pain he could experience.
And then you looked to the others. To the ones who had welcomed you instantly and who had risked everything for you and Omega and who were now hurting and endangered because of it.
And it was tearing you apart. âJust let them go. Let him go. Stop this, Hemlock, please.â You choked out.
Hemlock nodded again to get the operative controlling the machine to stop. He wanted the clone awake for this.
Hunter gasped in limited relief as the electricity turned off once more. He fought through the pain to keep his eyes open as he saw Hemlock beside you, a cruel yet somehow gleeful smile on the manâs face that worried him in a way he hadnât experienced before. There was something deeply unsettling about the sight of him standing so close to you like that. Â
âYou know, from our time together, I can see why you would fall for her.â Hemlock commented to the clone. âShe showed remarkable durability and resolve. She was quite a challenging subject.â
Hunter clenched and unclenched his hands as he watched Hemlock. It wasnât just the physical torture that had his body feeling this much pain. After what youâd told him about Christophsis, heâd never wanted you to go through that hell again, but you had. Heâd been far too late. Â Â
âBut of course, such feelings are a weakness, all too easy to exploit. Oh, you shouldâve heard her cry out for you, just begging me to end your suffering.â Hemlock pretended to ponder the next decision. âThen again, perhaps you can.â He stood in front of you.
Your blood ran cold as you saw the look in Hemlockâs eyes.
âYou wish for his pain to stop?â Hemlock asked you, a wicked and calculated smile on his face.
âYes.â You said, your voice scarcely above a whisper.
âBeg.â
âNo.â Hunter rasped as he heard the demand.
You shoved down the bile that rose in your throat at the thought. âPlease.â You breathed.
âNot so resistant now, are you?â Hemlock taunted cruelly. âBut I donât think you mean it.â
âDonât do it.â Hunter ground out weakly.
But you would. You would do anything. You kept your attention on Hemlock. âIâm begging you, please, please donât hurt him anymore.â
âMore.â Hemlock commanded, enjoying the distraught etched on your face and the pathetic attempts the clone gave at breaking free to stop this.
You didnât need the pressure on your shoulder that came from the operative by your side. You did it freely. You didnât care about the humiliation, you only cared about making it end. On your knees, you glanced up at Hemlock, your voice hoarse as you pleaded, âPlease. Please stop hurting him. Iâll do whatever you want.â
Hemlock caressed the side of your head. âYou know what I want.â
The sight of you begging on your knees for that man caused him more pain than any machine could. Hunter, as weak as he was, still attempted to get out of his prison. You shouldnât have to do this, not for him.
You did. You knew precisely what he was after, but you automatically shook your head in refusal.
Hemlock simply snapped his fingers.
Hunter tossed his head back and writhed and yelled in pain as the electricity coursed through his body once more.
âNo, stop! Please!â You begged. You couldnât take it anymore.
Hemlock held his hand up and it ceased once more. âWell?â
You swallowed tightly. And it wasnât just Hunter you wanted to save; you had a family you needed to protect. âI join you, they donât.â You negotiated quietly, hating the words as they left your mouth.
Hemlock considered the options in his head. Getting a Jedi under his command would be yet another testament to his work and that was worth more to him than these clones. It was a sacrifice he could make. âJoin me and I will allow them to remain prisoners here. No conditioning required.â
You knew that was the best you were going to get for them right now. You squeezed your eyes tight as you resigned yourself to what you were about to do and ignored Hunterâs pained and faint protests. âIâll join you.â You barely got the words out, but youâd said them now. You opened your eyes to that sadistic and twisted grin, the one from your nightmares. The one that he'd wear once he made some kind of monumental breakthrough in his research. And this time, it was warranted. Heâd done it. Heâd finally broken you.
Another Imperial entered the room. âDoctor, there is an incoming transmission from Governor Tarkin.â
Hemlock signalled back to the operative stood by Hunterâs capsule.
A raw and tormented scream left Hunterâs throat as his senses were overloaded once more.
You rushed to your feet and went to lunge for the doctor, but the operative held you back. âNo! You said-â
âThink of it as a reminder of what will happen if you change your mind.â Hemlock said icily as he left the room.
If it werenât for the bruising grip on your upper arms, you wouldâve collapsed to the ground, but you were left with no choice but to stand there and live with what youâd decided and to hear Hunterâs cries.
--
The lift opened to the prison level and before the troopers on guard had time to react, Echo shot them both. He picked up the loose blasters and he and Omega advanced down the corridor.
More troopers came at them, but Echo easily took care of them whilst Omega slid the datapad into one of the terminals.
âHey, kid. Whatâs going on?â
Omega turned to the clone that addressed her from behind his cell door. âWeâre breaking out.â With that, she programmed all cell doors to open. âHere.â She tossed the clone a spare blaster she had acquired. âIâll look for the others.â She told Echo, mentally including the so-called maintenance closet in that statement.
Just as she looked down one corridor, she saw another familiar face. âNala Se!â She ran over to the Kaminoan.
Nala Se knelt down to the girlâs level. âOmega, why did you come back to this place?â
âI had to, but itâs okay. Weâre all getting out this time.â She reassured her old mentor before she carried on past her, anxiously scanning for any sign of you all.
--
Omega hadnât seen any of you, but she had found the door Emerie had referred to. She knew perhaps the hope she was feeling in her heart was foolish, but she couldnât help it, it was who she was. And sheâd rather know for sure than spend the rest of her life regretting that she never tried. She held her breath as she opened the door.
Omegaâs exhale left her with an indistinguishable surprised and elated sound as she saw the figure.
He may have a supportive brace encasing his entire right leg.
He may be without his goggles.
He may look dishevelled and weary.
But there was no mistaking his face.
This was her brother. The brother she never thought she would see again. The one that had given up everything for them. Yet, somehow, he was standing there before her.
Omega stared at the man that had turned to face her when the door opened. âTech?â She gasped, scarcely believing it. She needed him to speak, to confirm that she wasnât seeing things.
Techâs eyes widened in shock. He hadnât dared take Hemlockâs words as the whole truth, but he recognised the child immediately and⊠and he felt alive again. âOmega?â
Another joyful sound left her throat as happy tears welled in her eyes. She dashed forward and wrapped her arms around his waist.
âDid it not work?â Tech whispered as he rested his hands on her back. He recognised the prison uniform. And he didnât remember a lot since Eriadu, especially with the months spent enduring Hemlockâs manipulations, but he had thought the rail car had gotten away at least.
âNo, it- well-â She stopped. âThe main thing to know is Crosshair did betray the Empire and heâs back with us. We can catch you up on the rest once weâre out of here.â
The news about his brother made him sigh in relief. They had been without Crosshair for far too long and Hemlockâs lies had been the only moments he had to imagine what having him back would feel like but the happy emotions it brought had all been spoiled and tainted by Hemlockâs cruelty. Now, he could allow himself to feel that happy again and he could be confident in knowing it was true. Then, he remembered the last part of Omegaâs statement. âOut of here?â Tech repeated, the very concept had felt like a distant desire for such a long time.
Omega smiled at him, âCome on, Echo is waiting. Weâre breaking everyone out.â
Tech released a long, relieved breath, âAn excellent idea.â He concurred. He followed her- a slight limp in his gait now- out of the cell that he hadnât been sure heâd ever leave.
--
âWe gave up hope that anyone was coming to help us.â
Echo held his helmet and addressed the clone that had first spoken to Omega when theyâd arrived, âWeâve been looking for this base for a while.â
âEcho, I searched all the cells. Theyâre not here. But I did find someone else.â
Echo turned at the sound of Omegaâs voice but what he saw had his jaw dropping and his helmet fell from his grasp. He said nothing as he walked towards his brother and clasped him close. âI donât believe it. How- I mean- you called out the plan- we saw you fall.â
Tech hadnât quite expected the hug, but he welcomed it all the same. It felt good to accept that fighting against Hemlock this time had been worth the pain. This was a truth he could trust. âYou forget that my intelligence did not cease to exist after I shot that connection hinge.â
Omega smiled as she heard that loveable cockiness in his voice.
Echo released his brother but kept his eyes on him. âAre you okay?â He asked, voice fuelled with concern.
Tech grew more solemn again. âAs much as could be expected. However, Iâm afraid to say that I have failed our squad. Hemlock, he wanted information about you all. I resisted when I could but- but his methods were rather⊠effective at getting the results he wanted.â
Echo had seen what Hemlockâs methods could do so in a short space of time and Tech had been here for months. So, the very fact that he had even held out at all was something to admire. âDonât worry about that.â Echo reassured him. âAll that matters is that youâre alive.â
Tech gave him a grateful bow of his head before he straightened his spine. âI see that I am not the only one with a new look.â He commented lightly, gesturing to his brace and Echoâs mechanical hand.
Echo allowed himself a short chuckle, âYeah, well, the situation called for it.â
Tech nodded in understanding before he scanned the group of clones around them all. âBut where are the others?â Tech asked, fully realising that amongst these newly freed clones, there were four faces that were missing. And the worry that flashed across Echoâs face did nothing to ease his own anxieties.
Giving Techâs shoulder one final squeeze, he spoke to the rest of the clones surrounding them. âThe rest of our squad were grabbed by Hemlockâs operatives. Where else would he take them?â
âWell, they could be in the training room. Itâs where Hemlock conditions the clones he deems useful.â
âI think I know where that is.â Omega said, grabbing the datapad. âFollow me.â
âAre you joking?â Rampart shoved past Echo. âThe wisest course of action is to leave while we can.â
Echo glared at the man. âClones donât leave our brothers behind. And Hemlockâs also got someone who is just as important to us as any other clone.â He moved Rampart out the way and kept his speech for his fellow clones. âListen, I know youâve all been through enough. You deserve your freedom. But Omega and I canât do this alone. Is anyone willing to stand with us?â
The clone that spoke to Omega spoke first, âI will. Iâve got one more fight left in me.â
That spurred others on. Soon more rallying shouts were declared throughout the group.
âGood.â Echo said appreciatively. Then he turned to Tech and took a reluctant breath, âTechâŠâ
Tech recognised that look but hearing that the rest of you were in danger had his loyal and protective instincts as a member of this squad come rushing back to him. âI want to go with you.â Tech insisted. âThey need our help.â
âYouâre not 100%. We lost you once, itâs not happening again.â Echo said firmly. âGet the injured to the hangar and secure a shuttle. You can help them there.â He gave Tech a spare blaster. âWeâll see you soon.â
âVery well.â Tech said with a heavy sigh. Deep down, he knew that his current situation made him more of a liability for such a high stakes mission. He needed to recover properly and get back to form and he could start by helping the rest of these clones. Â
Echo put his helmet on once more. âIâll trigger an alert in a different wing and reroute their troops. The rest of you, grab any weapon you can.â
Tech led the way with the injured, hoping that this would all come to a better conclusion that Eriadu had.
Before Omega left with Echo and the rest of their team, Nala Seâs voice stopped her.
âOmega, I must not allow my science to remain in the Empireâs hands.â She knelt down and placed a large hand on Omegaâs shoulder. âThe only way you will be free is if Hemlock is gone and the databanks are destroyed.â
âThen letâs get to the lab.â Omega said determinedly.
âNo. Your place is with them.â Nala Se nodded to the clones.
Omega dipped her head in both a farewell and in understanding. âYouâll need this.â She gave Nala Se the datapad and watched her walk away before she joined up with Echo and left the cells.
Rampart watched the scientist go, a fresh plan of his own forming in his head as he made to follow her.
--
Hemlock walked back to the training room, working on dampening his simmering anger and irritation. The conversation with Tarkin had not been a productive one and now he was faced with having to deal with the lousy Imperial face-to-face.
He had it under control. Tarkin would just be another nuisance he had to deal with.
--
âThe training floorâs two more corridors over.â Omega said to Echo as they eliminated the guards by the hall terminal.
Echo used his scomp to bring up schematics. âThe pneumatic tube system runs throughout this base. Think you can use it to get eyes inside that room?â He opened a panel in the walls.
âIt worked in the vault.â Omega ran over to the gap and crawled into the narrow space.
âRelay what you see, but stay out of sight until weâre in position.â Echo ordered before she disappeared. He handed her a comm.
âRodger that.â
--
Nala Se had taken a grenade from a downed trooper as she made for the lab. She had accepted what her course of action would lead her to.
Covertly following her, Rampart grabbed a blaster from another body.
--
Nala Se entered the lab but just as she finished bringing up the databank and blood samples, a blaster clicked behind her, and she was staring down an unhappy looking Admiral Rampart. She activated the bomb behind her back, no one was going to stop her from doing what needed to be done. And if she took this Imperial down with her⊠well, that was an added bonus.
--
Omega peered out into the room from behind the ceiling grate. All was quiet. You were standing up, your hands in binders with an operative holding on tight to your shoulders, whilst the others were knocked out and in some type of capsule prison. âEcho, I have a visual on them. Thereâs an operative on guard but I donât see the others.â She whispered into her comm. âI might be able to free them if you give me a big enough distraction.â
âWeâre on our way.â
--
Echo and his group of clones entered the training room but as soon as they entered, the lights dimmed, the floor lit up in a harsh red light and parts of the floor rose up to form obstacles. They were ambushed by the other operatives in seconds.
--
You couldnât understand why the operative holding you suddenly let you go to activate the downstairs area, but the sounds of blaster fire soon told you why.
You hoped Echoâs plan was going to work.
--
Omega managed to sneak into the room without incident. She caught your eyeline and motioned for you to be quiet as she went over to the main control box. She worked on Wreckerâs first, and she succeeded in removing one of the wrist cuffs. Before she could work on anything else, she felt eyes on her and she let out a fearful gasp as she saw the operative staring at her.
You acted quickly. You ran in front of the operative and saw your lightsaber attached to your belt. You lunged for it but with your hands bound, you were limited in what you could offer and a powerful kick to your chest sent you tumbling to the floor. Winded and gasping for air, you could only watch as Omegaâs stun blasts did nothing to stop the advance of the soldier and he took a hold of her arm and dragged her into the centre of the room. You got to your feet just as Hemlock entered the room with the operative from Pabu.
âA glaring weakness in clones is their loyalty to one another.â Hemlock said to the young girl. âThank you for proving my point.â Then Hemlock beckoned you over to him as you both walked towards the window.
âNow that youâve joined our ranks, perhaps it is time to see what sort of matters you will have to deal with.â Hemlock said to you. He wouldnât free you yet, not until he knew for certain that this matter was officially over and dealt with. Your attachment for the clones remained and therefore the margin for error was still too great so for now, you remained in cuffs and his prisoner.
You forced yourself to ignore Omegaâs shocked gasp as she heard that.
âShall we see if they fare better than you did?â Hemlock allowed the firefight to continue for a couple minutes before he pressed the buttons that would introduce his special toxin into the room.
You could only watch on in horror as the clones without helmets started to cough and choke whilst they desperately clutched at their throats before they collapsed to the ground.
âPerhaps an unfair comparison given that I didnât use this for you but alas, sometimes such things are necessary. You will find that often the most pain gets the quickest results, but with your skills, you will make quick work of things, I am sure.â
âYou joined him?â Omega said in dismay.
âI had to.â You croaked, your throat closing up as everything you loved fell apart around you.
--
Having entertained Rampart and his delusions of Imperial redemption for long enough, Nala Se didnât fear the blaster bolt that entered her chest and as the light faded from her eyes, she took comfort in the fact that this final act of hers would bring peace to Omegaâs life.
Rampart heard the rapid beeping of the grenade that rolled free from her hand as she fell, but before he could do anything, his life left him in a flash of blinding white light.
--
Having been the only one with the safety of a helmet to resist the gas, Echo was on his own against the three operatives.
He staggered forward as a knife entered the back of his shoulder. His blaster was knocked out his grasp, so he used his mechanical hand to defend against the swings of the sword from the operative that had cut him, and he succeeded in throwing the black-armoured clone against one of the walls, so his helmet came off and he too feel victim to the gas.
However, Echo didnât have long to recover before he was knocked to the ground but just as he reached for his blaster, it was kicked away, and he glanced up to see another operative pointing a blaster at his head.
--
Hemlock kept his sights on the scene below. âTheir efforts have failed.â Hemlock stated. âPredictably so.â
You were shoved back to stand in the middle of the room with Omega.
Omega glanced at you, but your face was a blank slate. Your posture was slumped and heavy with defeat. You had no fire, no fight in you.
âSir, thereâs been an explosion in the central lab. Itâs been destroyed.â Scorch revealed as he entered the training room.
This news snapped you out of your fatigued and defeated state. Hemlock wasnât untouchable and he knew it. You remembered the nervousness youâd picked up on when heâd first told you they were coming to the base, and you saw the way his body tensed after Scorchâs words. For all his victories and apparent calmness, he knew you were the people that could get to him which was why heâd done everything he could think of to tear you apart. The thoughts sent a surge of strength and resolve through you. What the fuck were you doing? This was your team, your squad, your family. Youâd all never stop fighting for each other so why had you? Youâd given up so easily and that wasnât who you were, how could you have lost sight of that? You glanced over to Omega and nodded.
Omega felt hope rise in her chest as she saw the familiar spark and determination in your eyes. She then stole a look behind her to see Wrecker slowly waking up. âYou failed too.â She said smugly to Hemlock. âYour dataâs gone.â And she wasnât just talking about the samples, she knew Tech was safe too.
Hemlock whipped his head around to face the two of you. He had what he needed; he could start again. âBut I still have you both.â
Picking up on Wreckerâs movements too, you got ready to fight once more. âHey, Hemlock?â You waited until his eyes arrived on you. âGo to hell.â
Hemlock glowered at you but before he could do anything more, Omega spoke once more.
âAnd youâre forgetting one thing. We have them.â Omega said proudly.
Chaos erupted.
Wrecker ripped himself free of his capsule and used the portion covering his legs as a shield against the blaster fire before he launched it towards the operatives, the impact of the piece of metal against one of the control towers took down the entire system in the process.
Crosshair and Hunter groggily woke up their confinement also loosened.
Wrecker shakily got to his feet and pushed against the electrospear that the operative shoved towards his chest. He ignored the pain of the electrical current and kept his focus entirely on meeting the soldier strength for strength.
You dashed over to Hunter and rested your bound hands just beside his head âMy love, I need you to stand for me.â You murmured with urgency. You placed your hands under his neck and then moved them gently still to his upper back to support him.
Hunter strained to open his eyes as he took in your still slightly blurry form, but he never failed to recognise you or your voice. He nodded and inhaled sharply as he slowly rose with your encouragement.
Whilst you did that, Omega made a break for a loose blaster, but Scorch grabbed her. She struggled against him, but she was forced to stop as Hemlock paired them together with a set of cuffs.
âWeâre leaving. Get the Jedi.â Hemlock said to Scorch, passing him a hypodermic with a sedative inside it. He then snatched a blaster from CX-2 as well as the set of controls he kept on his sleeve for his ship. âDeal with them.â He directed the operative before he dragged Omega out,
Scorch came over with as he saw you attempting to aid the clone sergeant to his feet. He speedily stabbed the needle into your thigh and pressed down on the plunger.
You reacted swiftly and slapped his hand away before you landed a kick to his gut, but you felt the broken skin and as you removed the needle from your leg, you saw that the tip of it was wet, and you knew that you hadnât been fast enough. Some of it had entered your system. A wooziness overcame you and you swayed on your feet as you fought against it.
Scorch recovered from the blow you dealt him and as he saw the unsteady way you stood as well as the lack of clarity behind your eyes, he knew he had done enough to get you compliant. He grabbed your wrist and forced you out of the room as he hurried to catch up with Hemlock.
--
Seeing that Hemlock was escaping with you both, Wrecker thrust the spear above him and kicked the operative back.
Hunter wearily worked on standing up straight and finding the strength to go after you and Omega.
âGet them back.â Wrecker said to Hunter before he let out a roar and charged at the operative heâd been fighting. He tackled his waist and smashed through the cracked window.
--
The gas dissipated and Echo glanced up to see the glass of one of the windows had cracked and there were flashes blaster fire. Whatever was happening above him was the disruption he needed.
And that distraction developed as Wrecker came crashing through the window.
In the mayhem, Echo was able to divert the blaster pointed at his head to the second operative standing behind him and take cover. Even with one operative dead, he was still outnumbered but two more rounds fired past him to disband the operative forces. Echo turned and saw that Wrecker- despite being flat on the ground- had been the one to fire the shots but he was still in danger. Echo fired a series of shots to the operative that Wrecker had forced out of the window and that operative also fell dead to the ground.
But Echo couldnât ease up. Another operative had recovered from the disruption and attacked them again. Echo opened fire back as he took cover behind one of the obstacles.
Wrecker was slower to react. The shot he took to the inside of his leg as he rolled for shelter was yet another painful sign of how out of it he was. But he needed to get it together, Echo still needed him, and he wasnât going to let his brother down.
Echo carefully moved around the room. He knew there were two operatives remaining and they made themselves know quickly. Now that the danger of the gas was gone, he had removed his helmet to aid in his breathing but as he walked around the side of one of the wall obstacles, a wave of blaster fire was sent in his direction, and he quickly pressed himself back against the wall. He searched for another way to somehow get behind the operative who had fired on him but as he did so, he felt a threat approaching his own back. As he turned, he saw the operative with the vibroblade weapons lunge for him and his blaster wasnât primed to take the shot to stop it.
With a loud shout, Wrecker got to his feet and picked the operative up by the neck and smashed his head through one of the walls. That took up the last of his energy, his legs gave out and he fell to the ground with a deep groan.
Seeing his brother go down so heavily alarmed Echo deeply which was why he wasnât the one to kill the final operative that had emerged. No, those shots came from one of the clones who had rallied by his side for this fight. He gave him a grateful nod before he knelt by Wreckerâs side. The clone could barely keep his eyes open, and he was breathing in short, sharp pants, his pain was obvious. âWrecker, where are the others?â Echo asked as he looked on worriedly as his brother.
âTheyâve- theyâve gone after-â Wrecker broke off with a low groan and couldnât finish the thought. He was too exhausted and sore to focus on anything other than staying awake.
Echo put it together. âI can help you get there but I need you to get to your feet.â Echo urged as insistent but as caringly as possible, but Wrecker made no move to stand. âCome on, Wrecker, you can do it.â He thought of the first thing he could think of to get him there. âTechâs alive. Heâs waiting at the shuttle.â
âIf thatâs supposed to cheer me up, itâs a bad way to do it.â Wrecker managed to grunt.
âIâm serious. Omega found him.â
Wrecker glanced at Echo and a brief rush of adrenaline hit him as he saw the serious and honest look on Echoâs face.
âItâs true. I saw him.â The other clone added as he came over to offer his help.
Wrecker allowed himself to believe that because it was now the only thing giving him the strength to even think about getting up. With a determined moan, he got to his feet.
Echo, along with the other clone, supported Wrecker as they all made their way to the shuttle.
--
Hunter had managed to stand and grab the spear that the operative had left behind, but everything was still blurring together in one dark and incoherent shape. He couldnât fully tell one sense apart from the other, everything was too sore and disjointed.
But he knew there was still an operative up here and he had to focus on finding him.
Crosshair was also beginning to get to his feet and as he saw CX-2 creep next to his pod and aim his blaster at Hunter, Crosshair kicked his arm which caused the shot to go array.
Tracking the sound, Hunter threw the spear in the direction it had come from and heard the sharp blade meeting itâs target as CX-2 was speared in the gut and the power behind Hunterâs through saw doubly sure that he was dead as he was flung back into the power grid and electrocuted.
Hunter grabbed the fallen rifle and spoke to Crosshair through gritted teeth, âIâll go get them. You should stay here.â
âNot a chance.â Crosshair grunted as he properly got to his feet.
Hunter picked up a second blaster and handed Crosshair the sniper rifle.
Supporting each other, the two of them hobbled out the room to go catch up with you and Omega.
--
The night air was cold as a storm raged on.
Thunder rumbled above you.
Lightening flashed through the black clouds.
The pouring rain pelted against your skin.
The wind whipped across your face.
But as unpleasant as it was, it did help get you out of your sedative state. You just had to wait for the right moment and so long as Scorch had a blaster pressed to your back and Omega was cuffed and attached to Hemlock, it wasnât the right moment, so you pretended to still be as compliant as you had been when being led through the corridors out of the training room.
Hemlock led the way across the exposed and narrow walkway towards the landing platform. He was almost there. He could rebuild once he got away. He ignored the girlâs struggles and protests as he dragged her further along and pressed the button on the control sleeve that would bring the ship to them. Just as the ship was preparing to land, two blaster bolts hit the right and left engines and the ship erupted into flames.
You used as your moment to take care of Scorch. You smacked the back of your head into his visor and turned on your heels to grab his blaster.
In the push and shove struggle, both of you teetered towards the edge of the bridge. One particularly nasty shove from Scorch saw to it that you fell over the top, but you still had a hold of his blaster, so he toppled over with you.
You just about managed to take a scrappy hold of the one of the bars that formed the boundary of the walkway, Scorch fell past you into the abyss below. The metal was slick against your fingers and being cuffed wasnât making holding on any easier, your grip was haphazard at best. Which was why you werenât surprised that you couldnât keep a secure hold and you slipped downwards, your fingers catching the edge of the platform.
You saw the scene unfolding across from you and you wished there was more you could do to help but all you could do now was fight to keep your head up as your legs dangled aimlessly. You called on every piece of strength you had to hold on and wait this out.
--
Hemlock thrust Omega in front of him and wrapped his arm around her neck as he held the blaster to her head. You were out of the picture for now, his main adversaries remained further down the bridge. âThatâs far enough!â He threatened as he saw the clones
Hunter shook the rain from his eyes as he and Crosshair paused to figure out the next best course of action. He had to trust that you would hold on for long enough. Right now, his priority was Omega. He knelt down and kept his blaster trained on Hemlock.
Crosshair did the same, only he rested his rife on Hunterâs shoulder as he peered down his scope.
The two of them synchronised their breathing as the storm echoed around them but that didnât distract them. Their entire focus was on the two people down the walkway.
âYou wonât get past them.â Omega said, no fear in her voice.
âThey wonât risk hurting you.â Hemlock said through heavy breaths. âAnd itâs not only you they have to consider.â
âNeither will you. You need me alive.â Omega countered. âAnd sheâs a lot stronger than you think.â She said, knowing that no matter what, you would be fine.
Hemlock brought her to the edge of the bridge opposite to where you were hanging. âIf I go over, then you go over.â He then bellowed down to the clones, âDrop the blasters!â
But Omega wasnât going to entertain that outcome. Hemlockâs arrogance would be his downfall. She reached into her sleeve and grabbed the tool she had stolen from Emerieâs supply kit.
--
Hunter saw what Omega was doing and understood her plan. âShoot the binders.â He told Crosshair.
âI- I- I canât.â Crosshair stammered. He had rarely practiced with his left hand as the trigger hand and these conditions were less than ideal to make such a precise shot. âTheyâre too close. If Iâm off- I canât risk Omega.â
âShe knows what to do, Crosshair.â Hunter said. He trusted Omega and he trusted Crosshair. He had all the confidence that his brother could make the shot. âWait for her, then take the shot.â
Crosshair let that faith and his own desire to rescue Omega guide him as he rested his finger on the trigger. He could do this. He knew he could. He inhaled and exhaled steadily as he waited on her.
--
Omega stabbed her implement into Hemlockâs thigh and used his surprise to step away from him and she raised their cuffed hands in the air.
When Crosshairâs shot met itâs mark and separated them, she crouched down as she heard six shots hit Hemlockâs chest and she watched his body fall over the side.
--
Releasing a thankful sigh, you braced yourself on your forearms as you worked on hauling yourself back up. You felt a supportive hand tug at your arm and angled your gaze to see Omega doing her best to help you back onto the bridge.
Once safely situated and cuff free thanks to Omegaâs tool, you stayed propped on your knees and braced your hands on your thighs as you caught your breath and looked at the young girl and all it took was that glance from you. She crashed into you, and you squeezed her close. âAre you alright?â
Omega squeezed you back and nodded into your neck. âYeah⊠Iâm okay.â She said through an exhausted but relieved sigh. âAre you?â
âYeah, kid, Iâm okay.â You said, your throat tightening as you realised what was about to happen next. It had been the thing that had gotten you through every night since arriving here. And it had been the thing you had so nearly given up and lost.
You both pulled apart at the same time.
You got to your feet and followed her gaze towards the two men still kneeling further down the bridge. You didnât need to check with her, you both started running together.
Naturally, you reached them just before Omega did and you didnât really slow down in your approach.
With adrenaline overpowering your own lingering pain and tiredness, you- getting caught up in the excitement of seeing Hunter again- foolishly forgot about his injuries and all but launched yourself at him. You collided against his chest with a happy cry and flung your arms around him and pulled him close to you.
âOw ow ow.â Hunter mumbled with a sharp wince as he braced himself against your strength, but he couldnât help himself, he clung to you just as tightly.
âShit, Iâm sorry. Iâm so sorry.â Your words were muffled from where you pressed your face in the crook of his neck. You went to pull away instead, but he wasnât letting you yet, in fact he readjusted his hold to keep you right where you were.
Hunter breathed you in and let himself get lost in the feeling of holding you and feeling you against him. The familiar shape and scent of your body providing him the comfort and security he needed to alleviate part of the pain he was feeling with his senses. He nuzzled into your neck and used one hand to cradle the back of your head whilst his other arm still kept you tight to him.
The two of you held onto each other like you were terrified it was all a dream and you might be taken away again. The bridge was cold and wet against your legs but after all that had just happened, it hardly mattered now. The rain continued its deluge against your body, but you didnât care. All you cared about was this moment right here and now.
Only when his body did truly start to protest against the strain, did Hunter relax his arms.
You released your own arms and hid your face in your hands as the emotions of the time that had passed hit you all at once. Sobs mixed with laughter left your throat and racked through your body as you realised that he was safe. That Omega was safe. That they all were safe.
Hunter gently took your hands away and carefully held your bruised face. He used his thumbs to softly wipe some of the rain and tears running down your cheeks. He brushed some wet strands of hair tenderly away from your face before murmuring, âI love you.â A kiss to your forehead. âI love you,â A kiss to your cheek. âI love you,â A kiss to your other cheek.
You stared into his brown eyes as you got yourself under control and they grounded you so completely as you saw the feeling behind them. âI love you too.â You gasped breathlessly. You threaded your fingers in his damp strands and-more mindful of his injuries- leaned forward.
Hunter went to close the gap but the sound of someone managing a strained but somehow still very pointed cough caused you both to stop and you turned your head to see Crosshair and Omega waiting expectantly.
âWhat? No hugs for us?â Crosshair said with a light-hearted, albeit pained, smile at the two of you.
You huffed out a chuckle and together, you and Hunter slid into their embrace, and you all wrapped your arms around one another. You shared in that moment until Omega decided to break away.
You all got to your feet, but you noticed how unsteady both Crosshair and Hunter were.
With Omega looking out for Crosshair, you focused your attention on Hunter. âLean on me.â You instructed him as you placed his arm around you, and you took on his weight as you all made your way to the transport hangar.
--
You all reached the shuttle and slowly walked up the ramp but the person you saw tending to Wreckerâs wounds had you all forgetting any remaining aches and pains.
All three of you inhaled sharply and stopped short. You shared a look to make sure you were all in agreement with what- or rather-who you were seeing.
âYeah, youâre not seeing things.â Wrecker told you all with a cheery disposition.
Echo had a small yet delighted grin on his face as he took in the stunned yet happy reactions from all of you.
âOh⊠did I not mention that?â Omega kidded, a joyous smile on her own face.
âTech?â Crosshair all but whispered.
âYouâre alive?â You and Hunter said together, emotion overwhelming both of you as you spoke. Â
âYou sound surprised.â Tech said with a small smile. What did catch him by surprise though was the way he was dragged into a large group hug with all six of you.
And as the shuttle took off and you all had that minute together, you were hit with a remarkable sense of home.
--
The shuttle landed in Pabu and the rescued clones steadily departed the shuttle first.
Echo, Omega and Wrecker were the first of you all to leave with Echo wanting to check on Emerie and Omega wanting to check on her friends from the vault.
Tech made to go too but hesitated as he caught the attention of a familiar face.
Pheeâs eyes widened. She walked up the ramp and took in the messy yet totally recognisable man in front of her. âWell, brown eyes, itâs about damn time.â
Tech made to adjust his non-existent goggles but caught himself. âI was- uh- rather occupied for a while.â
Phee raised her chin and smiled. She came up the ramp and linked arms with the clone. âNow your survival is an adventure I want to hear all about.â
You couldâve sworn you saw the faintness of blushes on Techâs cheeks.
âWell, it involved a grappling hook and some pretty fast thinking. I was fallingâŠâ
You, Hunter and Crosshair watched them walk away and you caught the completely astonished expression on Crosshairâs face. It was possible he was more taken aback by that than by seeing Tech come back from the dead.
âI have a question.â Crosshair asked as he stared at the fading figures.
âWhatâs that?â You said, pretending to have no idea as to why he looked so bewildered. You welcomed Hunterâs arm that looped around your waist and the look he gave you told you that he was willing to play along.
âWe just spent the duration of that journey getting medical attention and catching Tech up on everything that had happened since you all ignored Plan 88, right?â
âRight.â Hunter agreed, ignoring the playful jab.
âAnd I was on Pabu and with you all a good while before everything went to shit.â Crosshair said.
âUh huh.â You concurred, a slightly teasing smile on your face as you waited for him to get to the point of his question.
âSo, please explain to me why no one thought to tell me about that.â He pointed with his left hand towards Tech and Phee. âSince when did Tech get- I mean how- just what exactly is that?â
âOh⊠that.â You feigned a sudden realisation. âHuh, I guess they did get pretty close whilst we were staying here. How many dates was it before we had to leave, Hunter?â
Hunter matched your teasing tone. âYeah, I donât know. At least three or four- not that Tech truly realised thatâs what they were. We really didnât tell you?â He asked Crosshair, a smirk on his face.
âYou two are impossible.â Crosshair groused before he walked down the ramp, muttering under his breath.
You laughed quietly as you watched him leave.
Hunter let out a low chuckle too as he brought you in closer to his side and he pressed his lips to the top of your head before you both walked out the ship.
--
Emerie observed the children from afar and was pleased to see them chasing the animals of the island and interacting with the Omega and the other young clones. âTheyâve adapted quickly.â She said as Echo approached her side.
âKids are resilient.â
âA childhoodâs not something we ever had. Our lives have never been our own.â
âUntil now. Iâm heading to Pantora to help get some of the clones settled. Iâm sure Senator Chuchi would find whatever you have to say very helpful for our cause.â
âI have a lot to make up for. Iâd like to help out however I can.â
Echo rested a hand on her shoulder before he made for the shuttle once more.
Emerie followed a few paces behind.
--
As you and Hunter were making your way from the shuttle, Omega called out your name.
You paused and turned to see she had brought a group of kids over with her.
âThese were the children I was telling you about. This is Eva, Jax, Sami and Bayrn.â She introduced each child in kind before she introduced you and said to them, âAnd this is my friend I told you about.â
âHello.â You said warmly as they looked at you, both with curiosity and nervousness.
âI um, I filled them in on everything. I hope thatâs okay.â
You nodded. âYou contact Rex, Iâll catch up.â You said to Hunter whilst Omega went to go find Batcher. You crouched down in front of the remaining children. âOmega told me a lot about you too. I hear you all helped with her escape plan, thatâs pretty impressive.â You said sincerely, keeping your voice tender and kind.
âOmega was the one that led it. It was all her. We didnât do too much.â Jax said.
âA team is only as good as everyone in it. You all had a part to play, and you did it well.â You cleared your throat as you readied yourself for the next part. âNow, I know Omega has told you that Iâm a Jedi, and did she tell you what that means?â
All of them nodded.
âOkay, thatâs good. And I have to ask, have any of you ever like an object moved without you touching it, or you were somehow able to jump higher than you expected?â
You knew Baryn couldnât really understand and wasnât paying much attention as he babbled away in Samiâs arms, but you figured he was there for the same reasons as the rest of them nodded again.
âWeâre going to look out for you whilst we work on getting you back to your families, but life will always be a bit different for you now, and youâll still have to be careful. But I can teach you some things whilst youâre still here that should help and once youâre home, if you or your parents have any more questions, youâre welcome to come back.â You offered, smiling at them as they nodded. âAlright, thatâs all from the grown up for today. Carry on exploring.â You said fondly before you stood up and went to rejoin Hunter and Omega
--
You, Hunter and Omega had taken up position by the weeping maya tree with Batcher lying by Omegaâs side. You all watched as the clones walked around freely and the children from the vault got to enjoy being kids once more and it was a delightful sight to take in.
âWith Hemlock gone and his data destroyed, theyâre finally safe.â Omega said with relief.
âMm-hmm.â Hunter agreed and released a relieved sigh of his own as the impact of that statement properly hit him. âAnd so are both of you.â
âWill it take long to find their families?â
âRex and I are working on it, but weâll look after them until then.â
âAnd that brings the adoptive parent tally up to eight- nine including Gungi.â You kidded affectionately before you laid down next to Hunter and rested your head in his lap.
âLike you didnât just offer them that exact thing whilst I was speaking to him.â Hunter retorted playfully as he brushed the backs of his fingers across your cheek.
You stuck your tongue out at him before the sound of the shuttle powering up grabbed all of your attention. You raised your head and saw Echo getting ready to depart with some of the clones that wanted to continue the fight. All four of you dipped your heads and smiled in farewell.
âWhat about the rest of the clones?â Omega asked as she watched the shuttle leave. âWill they stay here on Pabu?â
âWell, itâs up to them. Theyâre free to follow their own path.â Hunter exhaled tiredly but kept his voice light as he said, âWeâve all fought enough battles for one lifetime. Now we get to choose who we want to be.â
âLike what?â Omega asked.
You smiled at Hunter and placed your head back down in his lap. You closed your eyes and let the sunâs warmth seep into your skin.
âWhatever we want, kid.â The girl leaned against his arm and his voice and face softened at the action, âWhatever we want.â
Then, as the Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair came to sit down with the three of you, Hunter stared down at your utterly content form and stroked a hand past your brow and through your hair.
He had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to be next.

hunter x reader imagines (enemies to lovers)
i am literally in love with hunter from the owl house, so in honour of ep1 s3 here are some imagines!!! this is like the story of the reader and hunter from season 2+ sooo yeah xx slay
warning: swearing, female pronouns, straight people, major sexual innuendoes, hints towards intimacy but nothing graphic
season 2
you are a healer that the emperor has requested to accompany hunter on the weekends when he goes out for missions
you accept because itâs good money, but you quickly find out that hunter does NOT want you there at all because he believes he can handle himself
during missions he walks off and leaves you behind, to which you go in your own pay and complete missions for him to get back
he realises you could be an asset and angrily decides to be less of an arse to you
one day he gets pretty injured and instead of telling you, he ignores it until it gets infected and itâs super visible
you scold him and order him to tell you if anythingâs wrong, or there use youâd have to spend a shit ton of time nursing him back to health with you would ârather die than doâ
you visit him frequently and tease him for a few days as he gets better, which he secretly really appreciates as he gets rather lonely
he also gets really flustered whenever you touch him or get closer than anyone normally would, which you tease him about even more
he laughs it off and pretends to be all nonchalant, but heâs super embarrassed that you noticed how flustered he got
after he gets better, youâre able to go on mission with him again.
you often squabble and argue with him, but on one particular mission he says something that keeps you completely silent
âmaybe i wouldnât get so easily flustered if you didnât so easily flirtâ
âeasily flirtâ?! since when did you ever flirt with him?!
he didnât think much of it, he was truthfully joking about you flirting with him- but your reaction made him think more about your relationship with him.
it wasnât flirtatious⊠was it???
a few weeks pass, and the comment manifests into a joke between you two where you flirt all throughout your missions
not because you like each other!!??! so gross!!!!!??!?
just casual stuff like:
âjeez, take me out to dinner firstâ
âthatâs what she saidâ
âwell, if you insist!â
and then out of nowhere, it became a competition to see who could get the other more flustered and uncomfortable.
one day in a mission, you tripped over a tree root that had grown over the ground and face planted on the dirt.
he laughed, and said âa pretty girl like you shouldnât be getting all messy. next time just fall on meâ
you went red from that âpretty girlâ comment, stuttering and stumbling over your words for the next few minutes
on the next mission, you decided to get him back.
you had to go into a bar to ask questions about a vigilante on the loose, in doing so you garnered the attention of a few boys and girls around your age.
hunter saw this and felt a twinge of jealously. no, what?? jealousy?! since when was he ever jealous?!!
he walked over to the table of teens fawning over you, ây/n, weâve gotta go.â
âugh, sorry guys! my boyfriends being sooo naggy todayâ
BOYFRIEND?!,!,$/!:
he literally froze
wtf
once he snapped out of it, he took you by the arm and stormed out of there, flustered as hell
âdonât tell me youâre jealous or something?â
âiâm not jealous, iâm justâŠâ
âjust what?â
âyou canât just go around saying im your boyfriend! especially without warning and in front of the guy youâre calling your boyfriendâ
you smirked, âwhy?â
he went silent. âweâve gotta catch up with this leadâ
you didnât question it anymore after that
until the next night
you were looking over some paper work and wanted to ask hunter if he knew if he had any potions so you could write it down for the stock collection
you knocked on his door, earning a âwhoâs there?â from the other side.
ây/n?â
the door opened cautiously, greeting you with a mask less hunter.
you had only seen his face a few times, but he looked especially⊠not handsome at all⊠that night
âoh, hey!! um⊠do you have the⊠bruises potion i madeâŠ?â you asked, trying to avoid his eyes.
he smirked, catching on to what was happening.
âyeahâ
you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear and then held your hands behind your back.
âum⊠can i have it back?â you asked, still avoiding his eyes
you could feel him looking you up and down, his gaze burnt your skin.
âmaybe,â he stepped forward. âwhatâs in it for me?â he continued.
âumâŠâ you finally met his eyes- they were stunning. certain imperfections in his face just seemed so natural. his eye bags were weirdly super attractive, he had no baby fat his gap tooth was just absolutely adorable.
a few seconds pass, until you realise your staring.
he doesnât say anything as he steps closer.
heâs barley a few steps away from you now, and the distance is painful
he moves in closer and reaches his arm behind you
you can feel his breath in your neck as his chest sits slightly on your shoulder
why was he so tall?!!!!!! and attractive?!!!! this wasnât fair. at all. what the fuck!!?!?!!!
he suddenly bounces back with the potion in his hand. âthere you goâ he says in a monotone voice, passing it to you
âum, yeah⊠thanks!!â you take the potion and walk over the the door, tugging at the handle
it wasnât locked or anything, it just wasnt budging, so you were struggling with the handle as hunter held back laughter
âoh my god please do not do this to meâ you muttered
âhere, iâll get itâ he said, trying to not make his mischievous smile come through with his tone
he leans behind you, one again too close for comfort
he stuggles with the door handle for a few seconds before getting it open
you rush out the door, flushed and tripping over every second step
âuh! bye! see you tomorrow!â you call out, shakily
âsee you later, y/nâ
in his mind, that was payback for yesterday when you called him your âboyfriendâ
in your mind, you had become extremely attracted to hunter and couldnât get that moment out of your brain.
to be fair, he couldnât stop thinking about it either.
after that, you two stopped flirting with each other. mostly because you went very quiet during missions and he could tell he did something wrong
âi think i made her uncomfortable lolâ
âholy fucking shit how can he act so natural after cornering me twice and flirting with me last night???!!!! what an arsehole!!!! please kiss meâ
as unity day got closer, the two of you bonded a little bit more and when he didnât return to the castle one day, you decided to leave as well.
you jumped from house to house, usually hiding in emiraâs closet
you finally reunite at the blights house in the hot air balloon, where you still couldnât get that image of hunter out of you mind.
âhi, hunterâ you said, stiffly
âlong time no see, y/nâ he replied
the way he said your name send shivers down you spine
âWHAT THE FUCK đ WHY IS HE SO HOTâ you thought
âWHAT THE FUCK đ WHY IS SHE SO HOTâ he thought
everyone could see how attracted to each other you were EXCEPT for you and hunter
season 3
time flies and youâre in the human realm
you didnât have much waiting for you back in the boiling isles, and neither did hunter
everyone was still pretty on edge, so a week in you all decided to have a sleepover.
âletâs play truth or dare!â liz suggests, confusing everyone
âwhat the fuck is truth or dare??!â willow asks
luz explains truth or dare, and the questions are pretty standard
âluz, truth or dare?!â asks amity
âtruthâ she replies
âwhoâs your crush?!â
âbffrâ
soon enough, youâre asked truth or dare by gus
âtruthâ
âdo you like anyone?â he asks, smiling
you freeze and avoid eye contact with everyone, especially hunter
âi mean dareâ you laugh
âi dare you to tell us who you likeâ says gus
âi donât like this gameâ
âare you chicken?â hunter smirks, catching your eye
âoh my god kill me now THAT FUCKINF BRATâ you think, staring down hunter
âim gonna go brush my teethâ you laugh
âawwwww chicken!!! everyone boos dramatically
you head to the bathroom where you brush your teeth and are washing your face, until you spot a wild hunter leaning against the door frame in the corner of your eye
âHOLY SHIT!â you yell out, only for hunter to cover your mouth and hold a finger to his lips as he made a âahhâ sound
âluzâs mum is sleeping, idiotâ he whispered
you ripped his hand if your mouth, already red from the sudden contact
â youâre the one that scared meâ
âi didnât mean to scare you, sorryâ
you lean back against the wall, keeping a sensible distance between you two
âwhy were you avoiding the question from before?â he asked, genuinely curious
âbecause!â you folded your arms.
he smiled moving forward a little. âyou like someone in the group!â he smirked
you didnât say a word.
âi bet you like amity or somethingâ
âno way! i donât like her, sheâs in a relationship!â
hunter tapped his chin, moving forward a little more. âthat means you donât like luz either- or gus, because heâs like 12âŠâ
you gulped.
âyou like willow!â he whispered, earning an arched brow from you.
you shook your head
hunter looked confused. âwhat? thereâs nobody else?!â he said, completely puzzled.
âyouâre fucking stupidâ you laughed, walking back to the room where everyone else was.
hunter took a moment.
ây/n likes luzâs mum?!!!â
he walked back out the bathroom and stopped you in the hallway before you enter the room where eveone else was.
âsince when do you have a thing for mums?!!!â he whispered in your ear, making you gasp and turn to hunter
flustered from when he whispered in your ear, you move away a bit. âi donât like luzâs mumâ you said plainly, rolling your eyes.
âwho do you like then?!! weâve know. each other for months, you can tell meâ he assured you, looking down into your eyes.
âthis height difference is definitely not making this harder than it has to be.â you thought.
you sighed, standing on your toes and wrapping your arms around his neck before planting a small kiss in his lips.
he completely froze, turning red. âoh! okay!â he said, nodding his head slightly.
you anxiously stared into his eyes, averting your attention to the floor every few seconds.
âsince when?!!?!â he asked
you pursed your lips. âsince the night i took back the bruise potion from your room- actually, probably before that to be honestâ you admitted.
hunter, broke into laugher, holding on to your shoulder. âi canât believe i seduced you!â he gasped for air between words.
you punch his arm playfully. âshut the fuck up!!â you smiled, leaning against the wall. âcan we just forget i said anything?â
ânoâ he said as he walked towards you again.
âcan you stop cornering me!â you demanded, as he back you into the wall again.
ânoâ
âokay, this is just unfair!â you shook your head, trying to walk away but being cut off by hunter pushing his hand up against the space you were planning on leaving through.
he leaned in, centimetres a way from your face.
âyouâre an arsehole! fuck off!â you whispered, getting interrupted by hunterâs lips netting your own.
this kiss was leagues more passionate that the peck you gave him earlier
you both wished it would never be end
he slowly pulled away, turning red and covering his face after realising what just happened
âomg i did not just do that wtf đ why does the hottest girl on the boiling isles like me thatâs so grossâ he muttered, making your face burn up again.
âthe hottest girl on the boiling isles?!â you say, smirking.
hunter broke out of his bubble, âummmmmmm yeah đ«Łâ
âthatâs sweetâ you smiled, placing another kiss on his cheek.
âdo just wanna like⊠date or whateverâŠ?â you asked. hunter nodded. âitâs be an honour dating the hottest girl on the boiling islesâ
you both walked back into the room where everyone else was, as they were sat talking in a circle.
âthere you two are! we thought you diedâ willow laughed
âyou better not have been making out, otherwise youâll get cootiesâ gus said, leaning back into his sleeping bag.
you two instantly looked at each other and turned red. your eyes quickly averted and you shuffled away suspiciously.
amity looked you two down, widening her mouth slightly. âthey were making out!!â she whisper-shouted, instinctively hitting luzâs shoulder lightly.
âholy shit!!â luz said
âwait please i can explain-â hunter said as he tries speaking, but everyone else was already freaking out
luz put your sleeping bags at opposite end of the room just in case
that never stopped anyone đ
good thing the age of consent is 16!!! (i am sixteen, they are sixteen, the age of consent is sixteen!! i am not writing smut because thatâs fucking gross!!! and also this boy is a nerd they would NOT fuck)
ok i wanted to write a few headcanons for your dynamic in and outside of your relationship so thatâs here lol đ this is basically what you like about each other, how he started liking you, what gets each other flustered, etcâŠ
pre-relationship
you always admired how fucking awkward and oblivious he was
but donât let that fool you, that man is a massive flirt and can get so cocky (in the hottest way possible)
he knows that he can get you flustered, but he doesnât think you like him?!!!! heâs so dumb
he is very touch starved so he uses cornering you and getting close as an excuse to feel another person for like 2 seconds
he also secretly really loves when he gets injured because then a pretty girl will bandage him up and tease him which is his ideal situation (mostly cause youâre in it)
he would never say anything about it though
he started liking you when he first got super injured and still was trying to hate you
he appreciated how desperate your mutual disliking for each other, you still provided the best care possible.
you really like how he tried to protect you on missions
if there was ever a threat heâd make sure you stayed behind- not because he didnât think you were capable but because he didnât want to see you hurt because of him
you didnât care and you fought the enemy as well lol
before he stopped wearing the mask as much, he would just stare at you for hours on end because nobody could see where he was looking
you never caught on
during your relationship
he is still SSOSOSO touch starved
touches you every chance he gets
hand holding, touching your hair, hugs, forehead kisses, etcâŠ
he gets close with you every chance he gets, but you both still get flustered anytime you touch
itâs actually so cute
heâs very very gentle with you whenever youâre hugging but youâre very strong and use a lot of force đđ heâs always super shocked like âare you trying to kill me?????â
heâs still a giant flirt
youâre still a giant flirt
very competitive
you both have big spoon energy, but you usually end up being the little spoon because itâs just more comfortable
itâs hard for you to sleep when youâre close because you both just gets soso flustered
your make out sessions are⊠interesting, considering how easy is is to get you both super flustered and embarrassed
and in a house of 7 people, every time it gets a little more heated than usual, someone just has to walk in
gross
the furthest you could get for a long time was literally just giving each other hickies
so fun to explain to the rest of the group how you both got burnt by a straightener even though the nocedas donât own a straightener
make out sessions in the forest :)
heâs still so awkward
i love them:(
i love him i love the owl house im gonna cry
