Happy Valentine’s Day!

Losing my mind a little over this Sherlock Holmes stamp, which was created in 1993 and depicts a scene from 'The reigate squire' short story. It's such gorgeous art. And I absolutely adore how fiercely protective Watson looks here, all like "Don't you DARE bother my friend, he's been seriously unwell, he needs REST". And his hand on Holmes' back, hello?!?!

you're just lonely

Ok you guys are going to think I'm making this up as a joke, but I've genuinely been trying to troubleshoot this for the past hour.

I've programmed Holmes and Watson to walk to these coordinates and sit down

And in my game development engine, I have tested what this will look like by manually moving the sprites to those exact coordinates.

It should look like this:

But whenever I run the game and test it they keep sitting like this:

I swear I'm not making it up, "Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson keep kissing and I don't know why" is a genuine game development conundrum that I am dealing with.

talking to preschoolers is awesome bc they have not fully differentiated stories into 'true stories' and 'imaginary stories' yet so you will tell them about something that happened you once (coyote came out of a bush right in front of you and got startled) and they will tell you about how one time their house was full of coyotes in every room 'including five in the garage' and they're not even like, aware i think of the idea that they are technically 'lying'. they are simply telling stories about coyotes bc its time to tell stories about coyotes.

shoutout to my exvangelical spouse for giving me some pointers about the gay parts of the Bible...I have a lot of thoughts around resurrection myths in Christian societies and how the Holmes canon plays with but also subverts that archetype, which I will hopefully be able to explore in a semi coherent fashion in coming stories!

(i’m still getting used to drawing how i picture holmes and watson… forgive me)
