A handful of doodles of the character King Clawthorne, from the Disney series "The Owl House". Some of these sketches are based on Steven Universe, more specifically, his SUF version, plus two doodles of his enraged state, from Watching And Dreaming, and three doodles being based off my own "Unskulled King" take/headcanon. The version of King that is used in this image is his timeskip version of Watching And Dreaming

Some King doodles I made out of boredom (post to not leave this blog inactive) (some of them being my unskulled/furry headcanon of the cutie, whose model sheet is on the second image)

A model sheet of my version of the character King, from The Owl House, whose only change is that instead of having his iconic skulled head, he has a head based on a furry, more specifically a wolf.

How do you do your backgrounds so good?

Fun fact: I historically hated and could not draw backgrounds.

Lots of practice. Lots of experiments. Lots of "guess it'll just have to look bad." Lots of study. Lots of failure. Lots of just doing the best I could with the skills I have.

I've learned a lot about backgrounds and color theory while making this comic. I learned a lot about layering and methods to prevent mistakes, to mitigate mistakes. Mistakes are inevitable. I learned what alpha lock was drawing episode 11. I have no idea what I'm doing but it works for me lmao

Tldr; fail lots and learn lots. Love what you do all the time.
