literally skateboarders on college campuses don't fear death or god. no brakes no handles just a blank faced college student hurtling past you faster than a semi truck on the interstate weaving through crowds iced latte in one hand speeding into traffic and dodging cars like a fast and the furious movie. they approach a 200 foot drop and you're begging screaming for them to stop but they just go right over the edge and ride down the entire cliff face at a 90 degree angle and skate off like it's nothing and not a drop of the iced latte has spilled

this is exactly why Percy is an ICON

the reason why i love percy’s pov so much is because he just says many things and stops and thinks about exactly none of it. this man spills his heart out one second and goes “um, anyways—” the next

What the boys do during quarantine

Ralph: Focuses in schoolwork as hard as possible, stays inside, sits on Instagram and TikTok for 11 hours a day

Piggy: educates himself on every aspect of the virus, diligently does schoolwork, texts Ralph rants about his neighbors breaking quarantine

Jack: doesn’t stay inside, meets up with friends, doesn’t wear a mask and makes fun of everyone who does

Simon: avoids the news because it makes him sad, plays Animal Crossing 24/7, goes for walks at night

Samneric: fight over the TV remote, frequently interrupts their Moms Zoom work meetings, settle on a puzzle and then never finish it

Roger: murders his parents probably??

Honestly, Piggy doesn't deserve the hate :'(

Why do some people hate Piggy?

Seriously, the whole point of his character is that he's an annoying, fat, working class kid who gets constantly overlooked for the above reasons. Then at the very end, Ralph finally realises that he was actually one of the most valuable people on the island and that, had they actually listened to him and Simon, they'd probably be in a far better position by the end of the novel.

And yet I've had people tell me how glad they were that he finally died despite all this because "yeah but he was annoying". That's literally missing the entire point of his character and showing that you're just as prejudiced as Jack and the other kids on the island (and by extension, society).
