I think one of the most profound forms of love is "I'll try that, for you. I may not like it, but I'll try it."
It's a confused middle-aged man in a pottery class, whose daughter is helping him with his clay's plasticity. It's a kid scrunching up their brow while listening to their mom's favorite music, trying to figure out why she likes it. It's a girlfriend who says "Yes, I'll go with you" and her girlfriend cheering and buying a second ticket for a con. It's a friend half dragging another friend through an aquarium, the one being dragged laughing and calling out "Wait, wait, I know we're here for the exhibit, but I haven't been here! Slow down!"
It's being willing to spend some of your time trying something new because it makes someone you love happy.

I think You're Losing Me doesn't need to resonate only in a romantic-relationship type of way. The bridge particularly encapsulates perfectly how much it hurts when you are the type of person who is used to chasing after the people you love, albeit a partner, a friend, or a family member. The hard part is when you realize that it's only been you working all along for the relationship and they don't care enough to chase after you at all or even meet you halfway. You get tired and you realize that you need to give up because begging cannot make a person care. You realize you've been holding your broken heart together by sheer hope that they might see how much you've been hurting for them to see you.
Is it just me or would Corey Mylchreest make a nice Darlington? Tell me these pictures don't give moody/angry smart potentially fancy boy ✨

You know what's hilarious? That scene in Hell Bent after Darlington comes back semi-human in the end.
Alex has been worried about their reunion since the first book (is he mad at her? does he hate her? does he judge her? can he forgive her?). Add to all that the fact that she'd just barely been killed and saw Darlington rip a demon apart with his bare hands. Darlington comes back down the stairs (clothed) and Alex is chilling eating dry cereal out of the box. Like, the maggots from the demon are still there.
It doesn't stop there though. They meet. The tension, the anticipation about what they're going to say to each other builds. And what breaks it? Alex offering the box to Darlington. And the first thing he does after accepting? Spit it out because of how gross it is and question her eating habits. Peak comedy.
No tears, no questions, no serious discussions, just banter. Love to see it.
Bonus points to this happening after Darlington thinking how the fact that she's a murderer doesn't even matter anymore and how beautiful she has always been. Love to see it x2

It's midnight and I'm thinking about Alex sleeping peacefully in darlington's arms on his narrow bed. She no longer has to worry about her boyfriend coming home home high on drugs and a fight breaking out because she knows that by the time he returns from a ritual it's going to be late and she will be half asleep but that's okay because she will still feel him sliding into the bed with his hair still damp and he will turn off the lamp she left on before giving her a little kiss on the forehead. She will always turn around and find him reaching for her in his sleep and then he will kiss her shoulder before relaxing again. If she wakes up when he arrives at home, there will always be midnight kisses as he tells her about all the things he had to do and how insufferable all the people were. She can always count on him coming home early on date nights. She will always wake up to fresh flowers by her side on Sundays and Darlington will be on the phone with her mom so she can tell him to how to cook Alex's breakfast exactly how she likes it.
Request for book 3:
I need (need) a scene where Darlington is playing one of the six stupid instruments he knows how to play and Alex finds him and is struck stupid by how hot he is (again). Extra points if he does it in his sweatpants, shirtless, with that open dressing gown.
Also Leigh mentions things like he knows fencing, acrobatics, and plays so many musical instruments and doesn't show us??? Jail.

im kinda a bit obsessed with how Alex cares so deeply about Darlington, is desperate to get him out of hell, but it's the same sort of loyalty she has for the rest of her tribe. she'd go just as hard for Dawes, for example. she's clearly attracted to Darlington, but can't let herself believe in a world where she loves him because she's too much of a mess.
Darlington, on the other hand, just wants to fuck her so badly.
Me: given Alex's past experiences it's appropriate and healthy that her and Darlington's relationship focuses on trust and emotional intimacy before diving into physical intimacy, and restraint also represents Darlington fighting for his human nature over his demon nature, etc

just finished leigh bardugo's hell bent and idk what to do. how am i gonna survive the wait for the next book and the long darlingstern content draught that's about to come. 🫠

Was I expecting Alex to constantly remind us how beautiful Darlington is? Absolutely not.
Seriously. We've known since book 1 how much she missed and needed him, but man, I was so not expecting Alex to be so direct about how much she wanted him and how special he was to her. I expected more denial tbh. Glad to have been wrong
Okay listen. The first glowstick mention was indeed like a slap to the face (loved it tho), but was anybody really taken ABACK when fucking VAMPIRES came uppp?????
