AUTHOR'S NOTES: and so begins side b. this one will not be as light as badlands HAHA but i still had a lot of fun writing it. it was tough, this is primarily in dazai's pov to reflect how badlands was primarily reader's, but i think it came out well. shout out to éliane for helping me with the banner when i was weeping because i had no good ideas as to how to relate it to the unreal unearth album </3 so she went out of her way to add the lil daisies and mimic the handwriting on the font </3 she is truly an angel.

GENERAL WARNINGS: beast au compliant, dazai is a lot more unhinged here - more possessive and deranged thoughts than badlands!dazai, sometimes they come very abruptly so can a bit jarring (PERSONALLY i think they're tame, but we all have our own judgments on that so i figure i'll just be generous with warnings to be safe)

INSTALLMENT ONE: ALL THINGS END (coming: april 5th!)

SUMMARY: all of dazai's carefully calculated plans come to an abrupt halt when you run into him at a club. he thinks fate is a funny thing, that despite all of his desperate attempts to stay away from you, it still leads you right to him. one night, he decides, is all he'll allow. one night of indulgence, and then things will go back to how they were. that's how it has to be to keep you safe.

INSTALLMENT TWO: FIRST LIGHT (coming: april 12th!)

SUMMARY: dazai severely overestimated his self-control. it takes approximately six days and thirteen hours for him to break, seeking you out again. when he does, he knows that nothing will ever be the same.

INSTALLMENT THREE: TO SOMEONE FROM A WARM CLIMATE (coming: april 19th!)

SUMMARY: you're with him. you're actually with him. everything all of the other dazais have got to experience, he now can too. in his exhilaration, he almost forgets about the threats lurking on the horizon. until you slap him in the face with it, that is.

INSTALLMENT FOUR: I, CARRION (coming: april 26th!)

SUMMARY: the day of the event has arrived and dazai is second guessing everything, but it's too late for him to back out now.

INSTALLMENT FIVE: ICARIAN (coming: may 3rd!)

SUMMARY: dazai had known he was flying too close to the sun, he should have stopped himself while he still had the chance.

INSTALLMENT SIX: FRANCESCA (coming: may 10th!)

SUMMARY: ???

"How was Fyodor ever going to execute his plan to turn Fukuchi into a triple singularity?

For this, Fyodor needed: One, either dead or weakened Fukuchi, whom Fyodor could pierce with swords. Two, Amenogozen. Three Holy Sword. And if I have no questions about points 1 and 2, their “appearance” was originally intended to be a part of DoA's plan, but the question with Holy Sword remains.

The only reason HS is available was because Aya pulled it out of Bram.

Why did Aya pull it out of Bram? - She wanted to help ADA, found out about Fukuchi’s plans and “became friends” with Bram.

How did Aya know about Bram and Fukuchi's plans? - She followed Jouno after reading his note.

How did Aya get the note? - By chance, she ran into Jouno at the airport. And Jouno had already begun to suspect Fukuchi.

What was Aya doing at the airport? - Her father forgot something there and asked Aya to pick it up.

This means that the only reason why HS was “cleared” of Bram was a series of accidents.

What would have happened if Aya had not come to the airport?

Fyodor made it from France to Yokohama (by helicopter) - Ended up next to the corpse/dying Fukuchi - Got Amegozen, Bram on HS - Stabbed Fukuchi with Amegozen. - And...

And what? Slashed Fukuchi's neck (with HS weighted by Bram's head)? Or would Fyodor try to impale Fukuchi on Bram's head and drive HS deeper and deeper until Bram ends and the blade begins?

It’s just... Aya in this arc is not a returning character, but a piano in the bushes and a Deus ex machina, both for ADA, and for the Hunting Dogs, and for Fyodor."

You finally take a breath and rubbed your temples.

Bram, who earlier asked you to read new chapters of BSD together with him (it was strange, but Bram wanted to see, if new characters has appeared and if they should prepare rooms for newcomers, didn't know what to say. He wasn't expecting, that you will start ranting. Bram raised an eyebrow.

"Do you require a hug, My Little Bat?"

You nodded, practically lunged forward Bram and pulled him into the tight hug.

"Yes, please!"

You two stay silent for a few moments. Then you spoke up.

"Want to fetch Aya and get ice cream?"

Bram nodded.

"Lead the way, [Y/N]."

Dazai couldn't control the erratic pace of his heart at the sight before him. He had came home late tonight, by an mission that had gone for far too long for Dazai's liking leaving him yearning for him to be in your arms.

Dazai's soft gaze was on you, sleeping on the bed, covers kicked off from movement, his eyes trailed over your body halting to where you were snuggling a pillow, holding it close to your body as you would with Dazai. His heart clenched as he saw his crumpled button down shirt stretched over the pillow, the sight made his heart flutter once again.

As quietly as he could, Dazai discarded his trenchcoat, leaving it crumpled on the floor in a crumpled mess which Dazai is certain you'll yell at him (affectionately) about it in the morning for making his freshly ironed clothes all creased. The bed dipped beneath his weight as he kneeled next to your sleeping form as he tried to gently take the pillow out of your arms. He halted in his movements as you mumbled incoherently in your sleep worried for a moment he had woken you up from your slumber. A certain smells fills his nostrils and he can't stop his heart from beating faster. You had sprayed some of his cologne onto the pillow, did you miss him that much? Dazai couldn't help but cry inside that you would miss him that much, that someone would miss his presence.

He resumes to tugging at the pillow gently, not budging he pouts internally, he never thought he would be jealous of an object but here he was jealous of a pillow. Giving up on the gentle tugs on the pillow Dazai yanked it out of your arms finally in his reach the pillow letting it fly in the air landing somewhere on the floor with a soft thump. The loss of your pillow woke you up as you groggily opened your eyes looking up at Dazai with a sleepily.

"mm sorry my love" he said with a soft whisper his caressing your cheek gently. "the pillow was in my place"

You open the covers and arms for Dazai to rest in, he settles between your arms leaning his head against your chest to match his heartbeat with yours. "you stink" you say to him with a yawn, nose scrunched from Dazai's sweaty smell from the mission as you gently pushed his head away form your chest to see his offended face which turned into a exaggerated pout. "how could one say that about a hero!" he exclaimed dramatically. Dazai after not seeing you all day which had felt like centuries had been too eager to embrace his love to even think about showering once he got home. "I was out on a mission to save the wooorlldd-" he said cut off by you clamping your hand down on his mouth. "missed you" you mumbled just content to have him home once again. "m'here now" he said quietly placing a soft kiss on your lips, lingering for a moment before moving back to his original position against your chest, wrapping his arms around your waist.

Dazai sighed happily, your fingers running through his hair, he wished for this moment to never end, his heart swooning with his love for you. Your movements topped as Dazai heard shallow breathing indicating you had fallen asleep. Not knowing if sleep would bestow him tonight or not, Dazai was happy just to be in your loving embrace.
