this is mostly and if not entirely for Repo! The Genetic Opera fans!

imagine like an AU where everything is the same right but instead of Rotti Largo ever meeting Shilo Wallace he thinks "fuck it, I give up! I'll just hire a scientist to make another one"

and so basically the self insert character is just a combination of Rotti, Pavi, Amber and Luigi's DNA. And they like get built by like a mad scientist and whatever, and so their entire life is just learning how to manage GeneCo.

but also I would imagine Rotti hiding them away for long as possible to make sure they don't become so problematic that they won't be able to manage GeneCo anymore.

so like when the day comes and he dies, the sibling trio are like "oh damn that's so sad... anyways let's go check who's in the will-" and they go to Rotti's office and find this random ass person who actually look like another Largo????

I bet the reader insert would be confused as fuck too, they probably didn't even *know* they had siblings at all in the first place!

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA (2008) dir. Darren Lynn Bousman

i love repo because I love the conservation of character. There are literally eight characters (shilo, Nathan, mag, graverobber, amber, Luigi, pavi, and rotti) and they are literally all connected. Amber is gracerobber's lay/dealee, graverobber is shilos friend and also the narrator, shilo is Nathan's daughter and rottis protege, Nathan and rotti fought over the same woman, marni, who was mags best friend, Nathan is head repo man of rottis corporation, over which pavi and Luigi are fighting, their sister amber has a one-sided hatred of mag, who happens to be shilos godmother, etc etc. it's a pretty standard 8 character structure but I just love the execution of it in repo. There are no loose threads, no characters left hanging. I just think it's neat 😊

I have a feeling no one is gonna care about this but I often think about the reason why Rotti was so dead set on having Blind Mag’s eyes repossessed in Repo.

I’ve noticed that whenever fanfictions cover Mag’s repossession they often claim it’s because she can’t pay off the debt for her eyes, which makes sense because that the reason why most people in repo get their organs repossessed and it lines up with the original stage play reasoning for her getting her eyes repossessed.

However, from what I’ve seen of the little bit of media about the original stage play, Mag is also projected to be an independent traveling artist who, despite being super popular, is still struggling financially due to not making that much money from her gigs.

This is very different from the Mag we get in the movie who is backed by the largest corporation on earth and has gone on world tours. Now I’m not saying that it’s not possible for Mag to still be struggling financially, I wouldn’t put it past Rotti to steal not only her freedom but also her money.

However I will say it’s more likely that Rotti was dead set on repossessing Mag’s eyes as a form of control over her rather than for monetary purposes.
