My favourite facts about crimean tatars:

The first ever institution of higher education on the territory of modern Ukraine was founded in Crimea: it was medrese of Khan Uzbek, founded in 1333. Currently only ruins remain of the building.

Crimean tatar women were the first in the islamic world to get the rigt to vote.

In 1917, the first Crimean tatar Kurultay (something alike to democratically elected parilament) included women.

Moscow used to pay tribute to the Crimean Khanate :)

In 2021, Örnek, the traditional crimean tatar orniament, was included in the UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. (Learn more here and look at the beautiful examples)

One of the most prominent human rights' activists on the territory of USSR was a crimean tatar Mustafa Abdülcemil oğlu Cemilev. He spent 15 years in prisons for this. He would later become the head of Mejlis (the highest governmental organ of crimean tatars) and is currently a member of ukrainian parliament.

2016 Eurovision winner, Susana Alimivna Jamaladinova, better known by her stage name Jamala, is a crimean tatar.

Maidan, which is the general word with which ukrainian call the anti-governmental protests, is a crimean tatar word.

Cheburek is a national crimean tatar dish.

The police force has been using methods such as physical violence, torture, tear gas, rubber bullets, and water streams. Along with boycotting, there is a big amount of Georgians emigrating from the country, and organizing protests in other countries. Think about the resources and skills you have that you can use to help demonstrations on the ground and spread awareness on the issue. This might include your graphic design or copywriting skills, a large social media following - aid the protesters by spreading the word. SHARE information that might be useful for protesters inside and outside of Georgia. And most importantly donate, speak to people around you, and attend protests closeby to where you live. This child Ibrahim Dahouk, from gaza strip, had his arm amputated in Israeli bombardment. He's crying, saying that he wants his hand back. Ibrahim says that the doctors told him he'd be able to if he could get outside of gaza for medical attention as soon as possible, he asks for anyone to put an end to the bombing so he could get proper treatment.

Translation:

"-Why are you crying?

I want to go back to holding my hand. I want to feel my hand.

My two cousins have been killed and I got injured. Please stop the war, that's what we want. We want to go back to our homes, we want to go back to live and to walk like before. They don't care about anything, they don't care about us. For the rest of my life I only want to feel my hand again, please. The doctor told me if you want your hand to grow back you have to get treatment abroad, immediately."

Then the man goes into explaining ibrahim's situation. Please if anybody knows how to help get Ibrahim the medical treatment for prosthetic limbs do everything you can, before he loses the remaining parts of his hand, share this on all platforms. And most importantly keep demanding a ceasefire. This has to stop.

The add includes the line “Let’s clean ourselves of compulsory Ukrainian Nazism” (not my translation) and links having a Ukrainian name to nazism. And yet people are still debating on Ruzzia’s intent for this war and what they mean by “denazification” (hint: it has nothing to do with nazis)

I swear we will never forget how the slow death of these babies was literally being televised.

The whole world knows now that these babies have had their oxygen cut off from them by israel and the whole world knows that the hospital they are in is being bombarded by israel and the whole world knows that the families of these babies were being held hostages at gunpoint by israel inside the Al Shifa hospital.

The whole world also knows three of these babies have died already as the NICU shuts down.

Those who are silent about Israel's atrocities have made a deliberate choice to go down in history as the most shameless cowards. This is a very avoidable tragedy that you have chosen to maintain with your silence.
