Panel 1: Isabeau is alone with part of the UI from the program Clip Studio Paint in the background. He’s holding a color wheel that looks like it’s on a glass pane while his free hand index finger hovers over it. He’s looking down at the pane with wide, shiny eyes, and his mouth open in awe. He says, “Oooooh…” with wavy text, followed by, “brain-hurty shades…”

Panel 2: Isabeau has dyed his hair full-saturation, full-brightness fuchsia. He faces Siffrin and Mirabelle with his back to the camera and his arms flung out dramatically. He’s yelling “FLASHBANG!!!” with a big smile on his face. Rays of bright light shoot out from his hair. Siffrin is cringing and squinting directly into the light with a look of pained disgust on their face. Mirabelle is turning away with her eyes squeezed shut and her hands shielding her face. Hit point numbers hover above the two. Siffrin takes 36 points of damage while Mirabelle takes half that because she’s guarding.

Context and some BlueBead Drawing Workflow Lore™: I convert a copy of my line art to pixel art by crunching it with levels and posterization so that I can quickly paint bucket in flat colors. However, when making the flats layer, I fill it in with a "missing texture" bright fuchsia first so I know if I missed any spots or if there's orphaned pixels.

While working on my last major drawing, Isabeau and Siffrin got to rock some fuchsia hair dye and Mirabelle got to enjoy a flashy shawl for a while because I thought they looked cool. And out of that trio, I deemed Isa most likely to inflict minor psychic damage on his friends for the bit. 😆

A close-up of Siffrin’s and Mirabelle’s reactions to being flash-banged from panel 2 of the previous comic. Instead of hit point numbers, there’s now faint text saying, “(You can’t control your expression fast enough.)” above Siffrin’s head.

Gosh I love drawing disgruntled / disgusted expressions so much, you can get so scrunchy with them. I think drawing stupid facial expressions is my favorite part of being an artist, genuinely. 😂

WIP of [this drawing] from October 15th! Siffrin with partial pink hair dye unironically slaps in my opinion.

Time taken on the comic was 20 hours and 31 minutes. Been trying to speed things up, but I was having too much fun playing with new line art brushes and special effects. I'm getting better at ignoring tiny inconsequential things I'd want to endlessly tweak though!

Will I ever draw in the same art style twice in a row? Who knows. :) I've been slowly trending towards the style I draw my OCs in, but it's not fully there yet, lol.

at the start of the game karlach and astarion are absolutely fucking reeling from being suddenly freed and are in a state of manic joy that would probably seem alien to them like a week ago, while gale has been locked in his depression tower for so long he's almost completely forgotten how to talk to people. shadowheart has not a single fucking clue whats going on because shar keeps slurping up her memories and lae'zel is literally in the midst of her ultimate nightmare scenario and trapped on an alien planet with a bunch of jackasses who have no idea whats happening. so almost everyone has experienced a situational personality shift and isn't quite the person they were a year before you met them. EXCEPT Wyll. Who is just like "this isnt even the weirdest thing thats happened to me this month." my man got scooped up, tadpoled, and slammed back and said "oh well, not gonna ruin my day" and went about his business teaching self defense to children and slaying evil beasts. He didn't even seem confused he literally did not give a shit. no urgency. He's like "I'll put that in my day planner but is gonna have to wait until after i hunt down this demon." When you recruit him there is no sense of "oh man we really gotta help each other because we have the same problem" he just would have said yes because you asked and he's wyll. Or because you told him he could kill mindflayers. He'd be like "sick" and done, no questions asked. Just another Tuesday for the blade.
