Before I get around to Moon 9 I'm gonna try and take some time to answer the asks that've been sitting in my inbox! I've been so hyperfixated on drawing comic pages, but I think now's a good time to start working on getting a few of those asks out. :)

Soooo @boughclan-clangen, @nimbusclan, @ranchclan and I noticed that there's not really a server dedicated to the Clangen comic community (comics, writing, fans, puzzle solvers, etc.). So we decided to make one!

Also - you don't have to have an active comic/story to join. This is just a place for the community to gather and make friends!

Moon 3, Part 1

“Stop breathing on me.”

“I’m not anywhere near you, Fogpaw.”

“You are, because you’re close enough to be breathing on me.”

StarClan help her.

“What’s your problem?” Moonpaw asks, unable to keep claws of exasperation from sharpening her voice. She’s not anywhere near him. They’ve been walking side by side for ages, up this horrible, hot mountain to the highest edge of their territory, under the horrible, blazing sun, and only now he’s going to fuss that she’s been beside him this entire time?

“What’s your problem?” He mocks in a poor imitation of Moonpaw’s meow, sticking his tongue out at the end of his sentence. 

Moonpaw scoffs. The fur along her back is so warm it feels as though it’s been set aflame under the full force of the greenleaf sun, and her paws ache with the near-vertical climb up harsh ground. Short on patience, she lifts a paw and bats Fogpaw with it. He should consider himself lucky she kept her claws sheathed.

Fogpaw whirls on her, astonished and angry, and whaps her with a paw of his own. Her ears flatten and her fur bristles as she rears back, tail fluffed up to twice its size.

“Seriously, what is wrong with you?”

“You hit me first!”

“Because you’re being an idiot!”

“Well, if you would stop stepping all over me–”

“FINE!” Moonpaw screeches. A few songbirds lift from the sparse trees that cling to the cliffside, startled. “If I’m just so in your way, I’ll get out of your fur!”

“GOOD!” Fogpaw yowls back. “I’m going hunting by myself!”

Fogpaw stomps off and Moonpaw hisses at his retreating back, her own arched and angry. What is he being such a mouse-brain for? She whips around, intending to get her emotions out by sinking her claws into something, but her head is too cloudy with anger to focus on the scents surrounding her. It doesn’t help any that somebody had her training cut short because her mentor got buried under a pile of boulders.

Angry tears gathering in the corners of her eyes, she crouches down in defeat. She can’t do this. She can’t do this – pretending that everything is fine, walking in some random direction and hoping for a miracle. She’s walked every inch of this territory since her earliest apprentice days. The best place for a camp was drowned in rocks and rubble. They’re not going to find another one.

Despair sinks quick claws into her chest, overwhelms her with the thought, I wish StarClan had buried me, too.

A sharp blur of color speeds past her. Pupils dilating, her despair fades to the back of her mind as she hones in on a rabbit that’s sped by and settled several fox-lengths away, sniffing and nibbling at some grass that’s struggling to grow through the cracks in the rock.

She flexes her claws against the rough ground. Catching a juicy piece of fresh-kill is the best kind of therapy. 

Dropping into a hunter’s crouch, she drags her belly slowly over the mountain as she creeps up on the rabbit, closing the distance between them to a few tail-lengths. The wind is in her favor, and the rabbit hasn’t spotted her yet.

An ear-splitting yowl cuts through the air. The rabbit’s ears go up, eyes round and frightened, and it bounds away. Alarmed, Moonpaw’s ears also fly up, head swiveling in the direction of the noise.

Answered Moon's asks here, and Fog's asks here! 🏵 Areas that are considered cursed or sacred? Your clan’s equivalent to Moonstone/Moonpool? - In their old territory that they left behind, the cats lived close to the base of the mountain, overlooking a meadow of lupines. At the center of the meadow, one would sit in a ring of flowers and gaze unblinkingly at the stars to commune with StarClan. If the night was dark and no stars were visible, StarClan did not wish to be communed with. - In the territory they're making their way to, there will be a place called Star's Reach, which I won't reveal too much about just yet. :) - Not necessarily a sacred area, but when conditions are foggy, cats believe that the clouds being down on Earth means that StarClan can visit/commune with living cats who aren't leaders or med cats. - Only known to StarClan cats, Cloud Nine is where important figures such as (but not limited to) past leaders and medicine cats meet with each other to discuss prophecies or survey the clan. On Cloud Nine, StarClan cats can look down into a swirling mass of churning clouds much like looking into a crystal ball to observe living cats. - The Chasm. Not discussed much yet in the comic, but the Chasm is NimbusClan's Dark Forest. It's a cursed area where the souls of cats who don't make it into StarClan end up. The cats who belong to the Chasm can be referred to as Cats of the Chasm, or Chasm-Cursed. Living cats can also be considered Chasm-Cursed, which will be explained later in the story. The Chasm is also referred to as the Way Down, and less often as the Place of No Stars.

🪵 What natural resources does your clan collect for tools, rituals, decoration, etc.? -NimbusClan is quite similar to canon Warrior Cats in their intelligence, so anything they may use for supplies is going to be the same as in the books. Moss, bark, flowers, various herbs, fur, feathers, etc. If it's naturally occurring in their territory, they probably use it for something.

⏩ How far ahead do you play in clangen? How far ahead do you draw/write? - In-game, I am currently on Moon 105! I meant to stop a lot earlier, but... I was having too much fun and couldn't stop myself. >w< I have an outline completed up to Moon 69 (hehe), the actual story drafted up to Moon 30, and comic pages come out as soon as I finish them! Drawing takes the longest for me, and the support of those that read and enjoy the comic helps me stay motivated, so it works best for me to upload as soon as I finish an update instead of building up a backlog.

✏️ Who’s your favorite character to draw/write? - Moonstar and Fogfreckle are equally fun to write, I'd say, but answering asks and things from Fogfreckle's perspective I probably have sliiiightly more fun with. Because the comic is from Moonstar's POV, it's extra fun to talk from his POV for a bit! Moonstar is my favorite to draw. Her round shape is super fun for me to do, and something about Fogfreckle's face I just CANNOT GET RIGHT CONSISTENTLY. I do have fun drawing his cloud rosettes, but Moonstar is just so easy to color that she's definitely my favorite to draw.

[ Poor guy, he really does thinks that abandoning Freckle on the spot would be better for her in the long run then her sticking with him. Even just trying to train Freckle reminded him of his own training and the idea of having to train like that again freaked him out, not wanting things to repeat. Not with her. ]
