#something something on the Internet nobody knows you're a dragon
the beauty of online anonymity in the alterhuman community is that i don't know what any of you look like irl, so when i read your posts and picture you speaking them aloud, i imagine that a wolf, or a crow, or a dragon, or whatever creature you may be, is the one speaking
I would use it to doomscroll tumblr to find cute dragon art to like, apparently. But it'd also be really useful to have a phone with google maps open while I'm flying around so I know where I'm headed. And imagine the photos I could take with it up there!
This is the most relatable image ever. I've been blessed with the ability to feel my wings at all times but oh my GOD they make it hard to sleep. After sleeping on my back for my whole life it is bizarre to adjust to the feeling of crushing your wings when you lay down
Phantom limbs.

shh, little thing. how long have you been pretending to be human?
stop that. the beast inside you is cooped up and wants out. don’t deny what you are. we both know it even if you don’t want to admit it to yourself yet.
i can tell. i can see how you look at your hands and flex your fingers, and how you walk around on your toes with your legs close together so your hips sway like they would if you had a tail. i know those feelings - the crushing feeling that something just isn’t there. i felt that too once.
stop hiding from it. embrace it. you were made to spit fire and smoke and rip your enemies in half. creatures like us were never meant for office work or traffic jams or taxes. give in to the dragon inside you. let it out.
build a nest. drop to all fours. sharpen your claws. tear apart the knights who come to slay you in your teeth. shed your soft, delicate human skin in exchange for sleek, glossy scales too strong to be sliced by any blade. feel your back split open as your bones move and your folded wing-limbs emerge and breathe for the first time.
unfurl your wings and feel the sun on them.
fly.
Kintypes? Silver Ice Dragon
What do you prefer to call yourself (therian, otherkin, nonhuman, etc) A dragon. I call myself otherkin simply because it describes my experience, but I don't really like labels. Nonhuman works to describe me as well.
How did you find out you were alterhuman? I've always felt different. It just took a bit of soul searching. That and I made a dragon OC and realized I was getting a little too hyped at the idea of being that character instead.
Favorite kintype? Dragon is my only Kintype.
Most recent kintype? Dragon. For a bit over a year now.
Least favorite kintype? None. :)
What are your reasonings for being alterhuman? When I was pretending to just be human, it always felt like something was missing. This is that missing piece that makes my life make sense.
Do you wear gear? If so, what kind? Nope. Would love to get some gloves with a scale pattern on them, though.
Any advice to new alterhumans? Controversial, but… Don't come out? Unless it's someone you know for SURE you can trust. Your parents don't really need to know, nor do your classmates or teachers. The world isn't ready for us just yet. You'll find out more about yourself if you keep this as a personal journey of self discovery anyways.
What're some things you do to affirm your kintypes? I don't really do specific things... Does drawing art of my dragon form count? TBH I'd be down for more suggestions on dragon things to do but I don't always feel the need to "affirm" my kintype. I know it's me.
Strangest thing you do to affirm your kintypes? I write my diary in draconic letters instead of English.
What are your goals to affirm your kintypes? Get strong! I won't ever have the strength of a dragon, but getting into better shape as a human would help a LOT. I've already started by running a mile almost every day... I need to start training my core strength next. Also, a dragon scale tattoo would be awesome.
Do you do quads? Nope.
Funniest way you found out a kintype? Cries in only one kintype
How does being alterhuman affect your day to day life? I can ALWAYS feel my phantom wings... So sitting in chairs is hard.
Does being alterhuman affect your religious beliefs? Not really. I already believed in souls and astral projection. Knowing I have the soul of a dragon just fits my beliefs.
Do your mental illnesses affect your view of your alterhumanness? Yeah, I mean. Autism is a huge part of all this, obvs. I have social issues that contributed to me feeling different in the first place. It works though, whenever something happens where I have trouble speaking, it just feels like a cultural/language barrier between dragons and humans, instead of just regular old social anxiety. Kind of took away a bit of the shame I had for being socially awkward.
Does being alterhuman affect your gender? I care a bit less about gender when I imagine myself as a full dragon. But I still care about being a pretty lady in human form.
What is your favorite thing about being alterhuman There's magic in the world. We live in a world with dragons and fairies and werewolves. That fact alone is awesome. But it's also really fun just going about life knowing "hehe nobody knows I'm actually a dragon 😈"
What is your least favorite thing about being alterhuman I feel like "species dysphoria" is a bit of a dramatic term for it, but god DAMN I really hate that I can't just be a real dragon. I wanna fly!!!!
There we go :) Also yea I'm cool with asks I guess EDIT: Formatting

PS. I know not everyone resonates with the word kintype and I'm sorry for using it I just didn't know what other word to use
Reblogging this means that you want people to send you asks!
#for me it's flyin planes in kerbal space program
Jet games are important enrichment for dragons.
Sorry about the rant I'm just SO sick of this "we have to be on all the time never look away if you aren't upset about politics and traumatizing yourself watching people die on Twitter you're wrong and complicit and evil" like I know things are fucked and we need to stay angry but we can do that while also taking a minute to crack open a cold one with the boys or have gay sex or get tipsy at the line dance, we HAVE to have joy to remember why the fuck we're refusing to give up in the first place. Fight like hell for your loved ones and then also go home with them to smoke weed and drink sweet tea and make biscuits covered in honey and butter please, please don't deprive yourself of joy, you're allowed to be happy BEFORE the work is done. You're allowed to be happy.
Frozen. Are there even plants down there? They've probably been buried in snow for so long they died, if there were any. I'd love to go somewhere tropical though.
Snout shifts! It feels fucking WEIRD. It makes me want to lift up my upper lip as if I were baring my fangs. It happened right in front of my sister and it took all of my willpower to hold myself back from doing that. It also makes my nose itch a lot. But I also have CONSTANT wing shifts. They never go away, only become somewhat fainter every now and then.
SO MAD RIGHT NOW.
Lately I've been trying to sleep on my stomach, like how a dragon would. I do this by putting a pillow down beneath my hips when laying down, to simulate the feeling of laying on top of a treasure hoard. This is also more healthy for someone with a human-shaped spine. Sleeping on your stomach can mess up a human's back without that.
A few nights ago, I slept like that and woke up with no back pain AT ALL. Like .. LESS than the usual amount of back pain. Which gave me a ton of kin euphoria. Sleeping like a dragon actually helped me feel better. I could hold my head high, and I felt stronger. One of the most powerful feelings on the god damned planet.
So I tried again last night. Got comfy.
And then FOR SOME REASON, I SHIFTED THE PILLOW IN MY SLEEP SO IT WAS BENEATH MY HEAD AGAIN.
So now I've just got back pain again and my neck is so sore that I'm positive it'll give me a headache later. So mad. Why did I do that in my sleep. Sleep-Ninian is an idiot.
