what the actual fuck...
i want people to get it into their heads that you can still be transphobic if you're a trans person. literally the most vile transphobia i've ever been faced with has been at the hands of other trans people. i have had trans women in my life tell me that i'm not a man because i don't have a penis. being trans does not absolve you from all potential transphobic beliefs you held before you realized you were trans. we all have to unlearn transphobia. you can get off your high horse and acknowledge that you have the capability to be transphobic towards other trans people.
if you legitimately believe that any trans identity has privilege over another there is genuinely something wrong with you and you need to go outside
it is genuinely mind blowing to me that somebody can say "i want all trans people who were afab to be killed/assaulted/beaten/raped" and then go on to call themself a feminist. no bestie you are a raging transphobic misogynist and you should not be allowed around children or vulnerable adults!
fellow white trans people, please read White Tears/Brown Scars: How White Feminism Betrays Women of Color by Ruby Hamad
Are you actually ‘unsafe’ because of the mere existence of trans men or are you just still wrapped up in gender essentialism and don’t want to do the work of breaking down and reevaluating your bigotries and biases?
Gender presentation police is soo dumb. If you're trans, you can't be masc because that's scary and makes me umcomfortable. But you can't be too fem either, because that's silly and stupid (if you are transfem it means you are trying too hard and a living stereotyoe and if you are a transmasc it means you are just a stupid 'theyfab' and not really trans anyways). You can't be androgynous either, because androginy is dumb and not real, unless you are nonbinary, in which case you have to be androgynous, but it has to fit my own specific and narrow definition of androginy. But you can't be androgynous anyways, because that just means you are endorsing harmful stereotypes.
It’s funny to me that people use “TMRA” as a negative descriptor. Like I get it, they're comparing an oppressed group of people to MRAs, cause they're fucking clowns.
But it goes to show they think any sort of advocacy that centers trans men is a bad thing. They refuse to see them as trans, just men. Pretending that the "man" part overrides the "trans" part of the identity makes them feel better about their own bullying. And if they paint anyone who defends them as a "men's rights activist", they can dismiss their concerns without ever addressing their arguments.
I advocate for the rights of TRANS men alongside the rights of trans women and nonbinary people! Because, as it turns out, ALL trans people are oppressed, and trans men aren’t the exception! I place just as much importance on their struggles as I do on my own.
What kind of person would think that’s a bad thing?
Oh, right. Transphobes.
btw there's so much discourse on my feed rn and I think I need some people to just step off of tumblr and meet people outside their circles. Does wonders for you btw x
Daily reminder that :
-Validating a trans person's manhood only when you want to exclude them from certain communities is not being a trans ally.
-Validating a trans person's manhood only when you want to make them seen inherently predatory towards women is not being a trans ally.
-Validating a trans person's manhood only when you want to make comments such as ''eww...why would you want to be a man...?'' or ''k!ll all men, including trans men'' is not being a trans ally.
-Validating a trans person's manhood only when you want to talk about how they inherently have ''male privileges'' over women is not being a trans ally.
-Validating a trans person's manhood only when you want to exclude them from conversations about misogyny or reproductive rights is not being a trans ally.
