I---

I---

I knew it was super structured but I didn't think they probably literally had papers of exactly how much money the fan spent with people taking notes and giving tips like ...........................I need an HBO expose documentary on all of this. Kpop the corruption of love. I feel like at least in japan people know what it is it's pretty transparent but in korea there's a layer of feigned authenticity that's really dangerous.

Movie review/recap 1.0

MIDNIGHT

Movie Review/recap 1.0

The 2021 sleeper hit psychological thriller horror of my dreams.

it reminds me of that old movie with the Korean psychopath and the innocent young woman trying to avenge her sister monster.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

but it feels like both an evolution and a rehash of the old Japanese dramas that purposely put disabled characters in shows to show more diversity. It works in midnight in a way I don't think many modern-day movies do.

Firstly we have a sympathetic character targeted by a ruthless predator.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

in recent years, protagonists in horror films known as the final girls have purposely become the opposite of the old tropes. They are loud, bossy, annoying, and extremely modern. Which, to be honest, makes the audience less sympathetic when a terrifying sociopath is after them. In recent years, people not only don't care if characters get whacked in horror movies; they wait for it and enjoy it. Characters usually purposely embody one of the seven deadly sins in order for the audience, usually endowed with subtle Christian Judea values, to deep down believe the characters deserve to be punished. This is very apparent in modern horror films. In Midnight it takes you back to when horror movies had innocent characters you didn't want anything bad to happen to, like in the 1980s.

When villains punish evil people, the villains become more like anti-heroes. This bad becomes good trope has been popularized through movies like suicide squad

Movie Review/recap 1.0

and Deadpool.

Where bad guys are not only cooler but more relatable than the goody two-shoes heroes. Yet in a world like the Avengers and Batman v Superman. The heroes aren't just saviors; they are people who cause millions of dollars of damages, cause people to be injured in the crosshairs and become a nuisance to the general public.

So a movie like this is refreshing because the bad guy is actually bad. End of story. No tragic backstory, no he-had-to-do-it, no revenge plotline. There is no reason for him to go after innocent women; he just does.

Not only does he go after innocent women, he goes after the most innocent woman he possibly can. A disabled woman who cannot hear and relies mainly on reading lips and sign language. Many people would definitely draw the line when it comes to robbing or victimizing someone who cannot properly defend himself but in this movie it becomes an afterthought to the villain, who goes after anyone who catches his eye. The easier the prey, the better.

Kyeong-mi is a nice change from the sassy, independent heroine people are used to, not because her personality is not tenacious but because she is pure, a quality the movie hammers down quite nicely.

It's an incredibly energetic movie. The chase just hits differently when a character has not got to live life yet. Kyeong-mi was not a party girl, nor did she have tons of friends or even family. She lived a nice, quiet life with her mother and she couldn't hear. It is the equivalent of a lion hunting a lamb.

This is in juxtaposition to the other women kidnapped in the movie by the stalker, who were either on their way to a date or were living their busy metropolitan life.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

Thematically, it is just a more impactful story when a character who has done nothing to deserve it gets hunted. People feel bad when a gazelle is hunted but even worse when it's a baby animal. It's just necessary to pull on people's heartstrings; even animals hesitate to hunt young defenseless animals.

In this movie, Kyeong-mi is very resourceful, quick-witted and strangely athletic

Movie Review/recap 1.0

though that could of been because she was running for her life

the most interesting part of the movie is when the story and the villain weaponize the fact that overemotional women are unlikely to be believed when compared to a smooth-talking, good-looking male.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

Multiple times the villain simply pretended to be a regular guy trying to help the same women he was preying on. I believe it was a smart move to switch up the casting for a villain. I believe whenever movies portray all male predators as ugly, scary, or creepy, it paints a picture that men who are attractive can do no wrong and they should be who women seek out. But in reality, most predators are the nice, charming person that everyone likes. They are incredibly social, talkative, and have a great smile.

That's the most annoying part about when people have discussions about male predators: women always make sure to leave out their favorite sweet, charming, handsome guy, which is a very off thing to do. Always making sure to talk about how unattractive guys who caught abusing are and how they have to go after women because they are unattractive. This is not only completely ignorant but also incredibly wrong. The most successful predators are usually attractive, charming people because most of them are able to gaslight their victims. Most only slip up when they get sloppy due to their high ego. There are many real-life examples of very attractive men being predators; for some sad reason, women delude themselves into thinking it's only guys they do not find good looking but that couldn't be further from the truth. What women call predator behavior, any anthropologist would call natural male behavior. Males with higher testosterone, better looks, and greater pheromones get away with things lesser males cannot due to social hierarchy.

I think nature shows us the best that the more visually striking a male animal, the more testosterone they have and the more dangerous they are, but oddly enough in the media it is usually completely the opposite.

In the movies it's the dorky beta males that seek to prey on women while the alpha males are almost always portrayed as the hero.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

though I guess to some degree that is displayed in this movie as well. It's definitely a hybrid of typical tropes, which I think keeps the movie interesting.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

The best part of the film was definitely how the women stuck together to take down a man even though they just ran and saved only themselves.

Movie Review/recap 1.0

I also appreciate the happy ending. Too many horror films feel the need to end with trauma or anguish. This ending showed strength and resilience, and I loved it.

I think it's a nice continuation of the disadvantaged woman vs. the handsome psychopath. Sadly, these are the only Korean movies I can really sit through now. I cannot stand Korean movies when they make commentary on classism when the movie is funded by a chaebol group. The cops being useless to the point of literally letting the killer walk out freely seems unrealistic unless you look up actual cases in Korea of the cops being very useless to the public and victims. So actually it is very accurate. But to be fair, they don't have that much funding, proper tools, or training, so it's a bit complex, but that's the only real issue I have with the film.

8/10

It's a nice watch alone or with a group. I somehow got my family to watch it years ago and it's fun. It has a high rewatch value as well.

Twin theory part uno

Twin Theory Part Uno

(Long introduction for context)

This one is so old. I did research on this, like, around the time peaches came out. I have way too many notes; some I deleted, and only God knows where they are now. I’m not spending a whole day looking for them, and I need something to focus my attention on that makes my brain cells work. So I’m going off the dome. It’s actually better when I do that because I do active research instead of looking at old notes, and I can find new info.

So what is the theory? Well, long story short, I had a theory that Kai of EXO was actually a character, which he is technically; all celebs are. They are named by their company, given a backstory, a personality, and Exo even had ‘powers.’. Like, babe, that’s a character, obvi. In this train of thought, a character has to be played by a real person. We are given that much information by the company. The actor playing the character Kai of Exo is Kim Jongin. Story over... right? Well, maybe so, but that’s not how my brain works.

Backstory to this. I actually wasn’t always an inquisitive person. I years ago was actually pretty dull. I spent most of my time worrying about grades, being a good kid, and, I don't know, iCarly, Victorious, and memes. But then I found K-pop; I was super curious about everything because it was so new to me. I had to learn everything I could. This was easy because I liked world history and learning about different cultures and stuff. I think Growl was the first mv I saw. I wasn’t too familiar with K-pop, but I did know it existed, vaguely. To be honest, it was just something taking up my time. I was just monitoring it and watching, learning names. It was during the One Direction era.

(historical context)

image

One direction the boys that walked so boybands could rise again. People talk bad about them but forget they single-handedly made boybands cool again. There were others, but the impact wasn’t the same. 1D was the blueprint of the up-and-coming boy bands that would later try and break into the American market. They cracked the code. They were parent-friendly but sensual enough to keep the tweens/teens/young adults crushing on them. Fanfiction culture was also impacted. Many forget it was a Harry Styles fanfic that made fanfic normal and somehow socially acceptable enough to come out of the shadows of fandom and be something talked about in media/out in the open. (moral of the story: don’t do them—slander won’t be tolerated)

Anyway, I was familiar with boy band fandom, the shipping, fan service, the weird pandering, etc. The only differences for me were the dancing, the odd music style, and the language. It took some time getting used to. It was so hard getting used to the cultural differences and the style of talking. The odd monologuing/sarcastic banter that’s borderline rude. It was hard to tell when people were being funny or cruel. I still have trouble with that, but years later I realize it’s cultural, but you can tell where people are coming from by their tone.

I say all this to say it was difficult adjusting. I was interested in the group and wanted to know as much about them as possible, BUT I spent so much time trying to learn everything I could, and by the time I became completely accustomed to the behavior and culture and language, I realized I didn’t even like the group that much. The music was good; at the time, the members were okay; sometimes they were funny—but not all the time. Overall, by the 2nd year of being into K-pop, I was like

image

IDK—it’s probably just me, but all the drama, gossip, and people caring that grown adults were dating... Like it was so odd because I grew up on J-14.

image

Going from everybody being super chill about their fave dating, getting married, or having babies to this

image

Grown adults getting in trouble with their fans... for what? Like it was just weird, and due to hive mentality, I was like coming into agreement with it and thinking, Oh, that’s just how things are over there... like, no." It’s not right. Just so many things were weird, but I said nothing because I didn’t want to be the odd one out.

Cause don’t get me wrong, everybody watches E! news and celeb gossip, and that’s not our business either, but that’s out in the open; that that’s people telling you this is my person, and I am dating them. Yeah, sure, some of it is fake, but it’s openly fake. This is odd because even though these dispatch couples were revealed, they don’t go places together or do interviews talking about one another. There’s a layer of shame because idols are dolls who are ‘dating’ their fans.

Now I won’t judge; all I’ll say is I got a lot of evidence suggesting this is gonna lead to an AI pixel perfect.

image

turned horror movie;

image

(mobile boyfriend 2009)

where there are apps where you can see, talk to, and text an AI version of your favorite idol

image

where you can have a fake version of your idol in your phone, but plot twist: it's a demon... Anyway, I’m getting off track; that’s another thread. The point is stuff was getting weird; I was slowly backing away and just distancing myself, but a few things were keeping me from dropping K-pop and just focusing on school and other stuff. One, like many women, once you invest emotionally into something, it’s hard to leave; two, I was a tad bit concerned about Kai; he was injured around that time.

image

and I felt bad about dropping the group because usually when I drop something, it’s for good. I may check up on it out of curiosity, but I will never care (like really care) ever again. So I was teetering.

Eventually I just gave up and decided my mental health and having my head on straight was better than being in a cult.

Long story short, around 2021ish I was like, What’s been going on?" I just went on a journey and became more aware, so somehow I came back to K-pop. To make a long story short.

So when I saw Kai’s face for the first time in a long time, I didn’t really notice anything too different. Slightly, but I thought maybe it was just aging, plastic surgery, fillers; I really didn’t know, but something was off.

So I started looking at his photos, and at this point he had released a lot of his old childhood photos. And again it wasn’t too drastic, but I’m not normal; I was looking hard.

Now, a disclaimer: this isn’t proof of anything; it’s just stuff I notice. I talk a lot, but it’s just brain ideas coming out to breathe. It’s more so just to make people see a different perspective. Use your creativity. Life is as interesting as you make it.

So when I started looking at the photos, I first paid attention to the thing that, if different, couldn’t be a coincidence; there’s no way these body parts can just change over time or with p.s. That means the face can be used but only sort of. Plastic surgery can change a lot, but upkeep changes more than the initial surgery. No surgery equals perfection, and after the surgery, minor surgeries afterwards are necessary. So it’s necessary to look at childhood photos to understand the initial facial structure (which can change but only so much); they more so develop or morph, elongate, etc., but only so much. I’d say like 90 percent of the time, most people can recognize someone from child to adult by the small features: the way they smile, or the way their teeth look, or their ears, or their eye shape. Plastic surgery is... it’s a thing, but as long as it’s not total facial reconstruction, it’s a nonfactor. You can usually tell what’s unnatural by looking at childhood photos.

image
image
image

Anyway, I looked and looked and looked, and I don’t know for sure now because it’s been a while since I’ve even considered this, but I trust my notes, and I remember I took a lot of notes, and it is one of the only theories I’ve given my golden stamp of approval. This is why I’m talking so much in the buildup. This isn’t some joke. I’m not saying it’s true, but I did work hard on it. If I could find my old notes, I’d copy and paste it, but it’d take me all day to look for it.

Okay. The theory. Twins.

Ahh, okay, I’m kinda excited it’s been so long. Okay. So I think what I thought was that it was a pair of fraternal twins. The reason why I said fraternal and identical is in theory if this is two people pretending to be one person...they don’t even look that much alike. They feature one another a lot but it’s not mirror twins which is odd because you’d think if an entertainment company was to pull one over and have a pair of twins play a single person they’d go for a parent trap deal

image

Theoretically, I thought maybe it was more of a Mary-kay and Ashley type of situation

image

who are not identical; they are fraternal. They just look extremely alike. How do people tell them apart? Well, now they look different because of different external stimuli that have an affect on appearance, but back when they used to look more alike, just watching their movies year after year it’s quite clear do to vocal tone, mannerisms, and behavior that they are two different people. It simply takes observation.

I have to sadly make a list because it’ll be too unorganized otherwise.

First I’ll put physical characteristics that are definite and most consistent. Meaning you can see the physical traits in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

Uneven ears:

Baby—toddler

image
image
image

Childhood / adolescence

image

Adulthood

Now adulthood is very tricky because the adult bone structure set in at around 16-18, and the cheekbone and skull make the ears appear small when really they are probably normal-sized; he just has a big head. So I’m just going to show the ears, both left and right, at an angle because it’s pretty much impossible to see them when he’s staring straight ahead. P.S. I don’t know what’s digitally edited or not, so I prefer candid pics, but it’s not good quality to see the details of the ear, so... it’s so-so. But ear prints, like fingerprints, may be similar for identical twins, but they’re not identical.

Exo Kai: Due West

heavily opinionated semi long post

Inspired by a genius post I saw on twt iykyk, I didn't wanna bother them they seemed stressed.

topic: Is Kai promoting in English and doing Western promotion activities pandering for Western validation?

(because he clearly never pandered to anyone before ever in the history of ever...it never happened... seriously. I don't believe he knows what pandering is actually.)

Exo Kai: Due West

Simple Fact: TECHNICALLY..yes

Question: Is that a bad thing?

Opinion: It depends

Exo Kai: Due West

Clarification : By western do you mean American? And by pandering do you actually mean worshipping Eurocentricity and it's machine of capitalism? That is a slippery topic, technically most kpop idols, such as Kai, are already modeling for European brands and not Asian or African etc. Plus they have fans constantly brag about said sponsorships that they do. Plus South Koreans and far east asians are top consumers of european luxury brands

Exo Kai: Due West

so anti colonialism is an odd arguement to stand behind with a kpop pfp but okay.

Opinion: Look, If you have a precise plan and goal for promoting in America, creating a better bond with foreign audiences, expressing creativity, working with more diverse creatives, and touring in multiple different states and/or countries, solidify the artist's place in the realm of popular music while having a more freeing time doing it... I don't get the problem with an artist like Kai promoting in America. It cannot intensify the issue of Kpop artists seeming like they are pandering to the euro-colonial powers, because it's already looking pretty bad tbh.

The real issue: Freedom. The reality is when someone dynamic, attractive, and full of life has freedom, obviously they are going to meet new people, make friends, and develop in personality. The real issue is whether fans who have had an artist as a cute little toy for years.

Exo Kai: Due West

Are they ready to find out what his real personality is when he is given freedom. The reality is that despite dating clauses not technically existing after a few years post-debut, people do not actually expect them to talk about crushes, who they find attractive, or publicly state their attraction towards someone. Personally, I believe what K-pop fans expect, which is virtual silence except when being cute, charming, funny, or flirtatious and/or childlike asexual behavior, except if it is for audience consumption, this teeters on a slave owner mindset and is very gross. A person who calls themself a K-pop idol cannot publicly date like a regular artist.

Exo Kai: Due West

I mean, they can, but not in a traditional way. Kai and Krystal technically dated for 2 years, and they couldn't mention one another's name publicly during that entire time.

Exo Kai: Due West

They didn't even go near one another in public after it was revealed not even at smtown's. But at least people had a magazine shoot as proof they even knew one another.

Exo Kai: Due West

Jennie and Kai weren't event at the same event since the dating scandal happened years ago, not an award show, or any other public event. If anything a dating scandal just means the person will enter a crackdown and be forced to be more present with fans to make up for what they lost.

It is extremely normalized in Korean culture that males and females try not to even make eye contact lest it be thought of that they did something.

Exo Kai: Due West

For this reason it's incredibly easy for fans to say it is nonexistent. This is a pretty good summary of what happened.

Exo Kai: Due West

The accepted narrative anyway. Sadly to combat the 'negative press' of dating publicly, fans go harder on the shipping, the overs#xualization, and the unfunny jokes to move the conversation away from their dating news. Taking the fandom further and further away from reality.

Exo Kai: Due West

Yet, at the same time since people don't see 99 percent of the artist they obsess over's life and the entire 1 percent is scripted, they don't know how these people truly act or behave, or really anything about them. So to overcompensate other parts of their personality and minor things are overblown and hyperfocused on. Praise and worship take the place of actual critical thought.

Exo Kai: Due West

Regardless of the opinion of whether it matters to every individual supporter or not, it still had actual effects on his career. To this day his support is stronger overseas. I believe this is in conjunction to the 2 dating scandals and his appearance. Which is a whole nother thing, but with this in mind a western audience, especially one that is less likely to bash for a simple dating scandal would be a smart choice.

To the people who have a don't ask don't tell policy when it comes to artists, but just don't want the artists to date publicly to protect them, what do they know, do they even look into the analysis how when properly leveraged a relationship could be good for business and not bad. I hesitate to believe fans whenever they say they don't care if their fave dates or not anyway. Like of course you don't care, because they will continue to play their role of a perfect idol content with fanservice.

Exo Kai: Due West

I would say it's fine, but it really isn't, even in japan idol culture there is room for growth and evolution inside the mold. They gradually moved their idol culture over to the acting scene so now the youth are somewhat used to seeing public figures dating openly, it may be a surprise but I wouldn't classify it as a scandal.

Personally, I believe if they can push kpop idols towards acting and movies, then similar to japan it wouldn't become this crazy thing and artists can be young and married without it being a frenzy.

Exo Kai: Due West

(p.s weloveyoukento) It's not exactly perfect but it is changing for the better.

In japan the mold is forever being molded and shifted to where it needs to be, whereas in kpop it seems to be stuck in stasis with the conveyer belt model continuing.

Exo Kai: Due West
Exo Kai: Due West

With the art clearly showing what fans deny, that each idol group is contained and perfected to the fans whims and desires.

Understandably people want privacy in relationships, but the privacy is mostly due to their careers being built on the whims of the fans.

To be fair all boy bands historically have done this. Whether that means wearing outfits that only teen girls like, or dancing uniformly to upbeat tunes for hours on end. It isn't just kpop that stretched people to the limit and covered up their originality.

Exo Kai: Due West
Exo Kai: Due West

Regardless of the location, race, or culture/ethnicity of said boy band this was all true, but in Kpop there is a specific desire to control the entire person as a product and as a human and this is something the fans are willing to ignore to recieve whatever fanservice they want.

Nobody cares who their local restaraunt owner or store employee dates, because they don't go to the store for them they go for the product, BUT in K-pop the artists are the product, the emotional relationship with fans is apart of the deal. Therefore they feel almost a sense of surrealness when thinking about them in a public relationship. Personally, I believe even western people struggle with having an odd fascination with who a person does or does not date, but again this is because people craft an image that makes it unbelivable if they go against it.

Exo Kai: Due West
Exo Kai: Due West

Whether it's a fake relationship or a real one, the point is that with either you would expect something like a conversation or a small mention during an interview, but typically Kpop stars are not allowed to do such a thing, ever. That is just how it is in K-pop. Whether the fans are native Korean or foreigner fans, much of the same behavior is expected. No one can say they have seen an artist's real personality. It isn't possible. Nearly everything is scripted.

In some cases, like Taemin's, they didn't even know their actual personalities.

Exo Kai: Due West

They can go out and do things for fun, but it is expected that whatever they do not be noticeable to fans. Everything is expected to be hidden or undercover to be respectful of the fans. Because the artists are firstly marketed as boyfriends and girlfriends for the fans. Regardless of how it is spun, this is the marketing promotion; otherwise, suggestive music videos wouldn't really be necessary, nor would high-five events of ...fansigns.

I don't want to act like K-pop invented this.

It did not

Exo Kai: Due West
Exo Kai: Due West
Exo Kai: Due West

or pretend that it is even the most extreme version of marketing love to strangers out of an exotic curiosity;

Exo Kai: Due West

because it isn't. This has been happening for ages, but I will say that kpop has this unique hold where evolution doesn't exist. Since the 1990s I think kpop has gone backwards, before it was normal for idols girlfriends to leave the performance venues with them.

Exo Kai: Due West

Now if a girlfriend posts something on her social that even implies they are together it is cause for fans to burn merch and say rude and innapropriate things online out of vendicated anger.

Exo Kai: Due West
Exo Kai: Due West

Even having a boyfriend or close male friend can invoke the ire of fans who have crafted an idol's desires to their imaginations, even if they themselves have no interest in them.

Exo Kai: Due West

So if they do something unexpected like date a man, even though they "hate men" people have full blown meltdowns and delete their accounts out of embarrassment.

I've seen it happen to so many people. They refuse to accept a possibility and when it happens they loose it.

I know that people have sensitivities about Kpop people becoming more free, and honestly I think it's for the best. I do not think people want the ownership that fans feel to grow even more. They need more open and honest interviews, less objectfication and more laying out the facts instead of fans being so bored they hyperfixate on fake gossip to the point of it being more real than reality.

But no seriously all jokes aside, please somebody explain to Kai what pandering to an audience means. Doing things specifically to appeal to others whims and desires that you as a grown adult person probably don't want to do, but you must because of dinero, guap or cash money. Cause clearly he is just a giant stuffed animal and he has no ideal how it works, how anything at all works actually, he just dresses like this on stage because..I mean like what else would he wear, duh! How could he be expected to pander to the euro-colonial-objectifying axis of evil...

Exo Kai: Due West

He's like..never even done that before....

movements can and will evolve. Lmao the point is to shock people into making change, it's very simple.

Exactly, why are women caring what any biomale movement is talking about when other movements exist without caring anything about female issues at all? It's very sad and indicative needing some type of male validation to feel a certain way.

Women on TikTok are talking about 4B but refuse to read the SCUM manifesto because it’s “transphobic” and “radical feminism isn’t nothing without our trans sisters!”

Yeah, that 4B isn’t gonna work for you honey. Can’t even read a book. Can’t stop pandering to males because you don’t want to hurt their feelings. Mission already failed..

Why S.M. didn't sabotage EXO... at least not how you think

S.m. did not sabotage Exo. They don't sabotage any of their groups. At least not how people think they do. Sure, from the fans and artists perspectives, I definitely think they may feel like that is the case, but we don't read their contracts. Heck, they probably didn't even read their contracts. Somebody can only screw you over if you let them.

It is possible to bargain and refuse to sign a contract if you don't want to. Multiple artists have left S.M. Entertainment and decided not to renew their contracts, but Exo, 8 members of Exo, did. They decided to stay in a contract locked tight with S.M. to stay in the group Exo.

Many say they had to; they had no choice, but they did. They could have all left together. There is no excuse for why they didn't. Because of the redraft of Korean entertainment laws to combat the exact thing that CBX sued for, the Korean government gave groups like Exo an out.

Which is why I knew they could not win their lawsuit, because it is very clear. It does protect the artists but it also protects the company. If you choose to resign odds are you will not win a lawsuit. The new law is a safety vest. If you throw it away you cannot cry foul.

There are many very helpful videos about this law that exist online. Groups can leave together with all their music and their name, but only if they leave together. Most likely what happened was some wanted to leave and some wanted to stay. It is quite clear who was on those two different sides.

The law is very specific that the thing is with this situation ALL the members must leave together if they want their name and music.

That right there would be, or should be, enough to stop this false claiming of S.M. mistreating Exo. Which, honestly, is kind of comical in 2024, the difference of the meaning of that word. Actual groups are abused by their agencies, and people think a company not making a group as famous as they could be is mistreatment.

It's not. And hey, if it was, and I'll give it to you, maybe that is a crappy thing to do, to block offers and say, Nah, we're not going to make you more famous but...

They could have left; they all had the free will to leave.

Though that would mean no more S.M. promotions, no more S.M. paying for everything, and no more benefits. Do I really have to go to the s.m. website and show you all the benefits they give to their employees? I mean, it's pretty nice. Sadly, we live in a world of comparison. People are desperate to find some comparison between the haves and the have-nots. Maybe if these millionaires aren't getting the highest pay in the company, then they deserve people to rally for them.

It's like a huge victim off--who is the least privileged rich person.

it's giving

Why S.M. Didn't Sabotage EXO... At Least Not How You Think

But it's not even as simple as that. S.m invests a lot of money into each artist. They made them famous, they built them up, they got them sponsorships and acting jobs, and like it or not, they got them a fandom too. From S.M.'s perspective, they made the group. I mean, fans are shallow, and they want content and fan service, which is valid. I mean, if you like a show, sure you want more seasons, but these are real people. It takes millions to get these guys a reality show, wearing fancy clothes, with makeup artists and a camera crew with a rented-out villa. On top of feeding everyone, staff, managers, producers and stylists.

Meanwhile, some groups have personal YouTube channels just hanging out. Like the comparison is not valid. Like yes, they are so oppressed they have to spend tons of money giving their fans a fancy reality show to watch and heavily scripted and edited YouTube sketches.

S.m truly hates their guts so much they let them rag on them in public and on bubble and still buy them birthday cakes lmao.

I mean, think about that: Who needs all that to hang out with their friends? People bend over backwards to make it seem like S.M. is sabotaging them with no content... like it's not hard to hang out and film it. It's not S.M.'s fault they need a script or be at a concert in order to have chemistry. Kai said himself it took him a long time to get a youtube channel because he had to organize and pay for everything. It's expensive to do what they want to do. Look perfect, have great editing and keep their image fancy.

There are tons of issues in Kpop and s.m ent but complaining about the most pointless things takes validity away from the argument.

"But ...they cancelled youtube red reality show/ they said no to cochella" allegedly..

Do ya'll understand that those are avenue's that can't be controlled. Look at what happened to those poor girls who went to that event and got trashed for weeks. Anything can happen and it's not an asian event. Exo has had bad performances in the past, mess ups, bad notes, if that happened in a crowd full of foreigners who may not even be into kpop; they aren't women who can just laugh it off cause they look like instagram models, that would be humiliating. People are way meaner to men on the internet.

Do I need to bring back the last time S.m and fans tried to push exo performing at a western event, a very traditional group of people opposed it heavily citing it was an american event and began picking the group apart. Gender and race are a huge issue companies are hesistant how they bring a group to the west. They purposely promoted super m differently to prevent a bad reaction from certain groups of people. They wore less makeup, did less overt fanservice and made sure they promoted them more masculine. They always referred to one another as brother. They don't want to put their groups in a bad spot and I don't blame them.

Did people ever think that the group may not of been the best group to perform at that type of event. They have a lot of members and cochella isn't known for focusing on dancing. Some members don't even have lines in most songs, they would just be standing there. They aren't blackpink or 2ne1 with only four members who equally share lines.

I don't remember other large groups crying cause they weren't invited to cochella, because every market is different. Rappers, bands and female performers do better at cochella than dudes and there's nothing wrong with that.

How can 9 people sing equally at a musical event?

"Youtube offered them a show why didn't s.m take it"

With Youtube red...can exo be as authentic as the documentary may require? Can they have a scene with serious or contraversial stuff like hybe is doing and their fans be okay with that? Maybe that wasn't a risk they were willing to take. They have a completely different promotion style than other companies. The fans do not know these people. What if the members had to show their real authentic personalities? Would fans even be interested in that? It could destroy the fourth wall s.m built up for them. Fans would rather ignore issues just like the lawsuit, they plug their ears and cover their eyes, even when it was cbx who tried to call attention to it. They were trying to say they had an issue but fans just wanted more fluffy content and were upset the lawsuit messed it up for them. So could the fandom take a documentary where problematic stuff might be filmed? The fans themselves might of boycotted youtube.

They would of been like:

"How dare they put the boys in a bad light. S.m should have protected them"

The members are known for saying stuff that got them in trouble with foreign american fandoms. What if it caused more trouble than it was worth?

That's how companies have to think.

I understand that there are many things which do need to be talked about concerning exo, s.m and kpop but the reality is that be honest most do not want to have those conversations. How many injuries and people passing out had fans rolling their eyes saying "again?"

or "screw s.m"

what does that do?

People don't even know how to boycott because they are so addicted to their faves being top sellers and milking their achievements. How can people say they don't care when they talk about exo's awards like they earned them themselves. The only award a fan should be proud of is a grammy because there's a council of critics who are unbias not a bunch of crazy fans.

When people let go of their ego then change will happen until then the companies will continue to do whatever they want. Having underage children dancing in a basement learning how to attract fans is an issue. Millionaires getting less money than they thought they could get is not.

[video description: a video by thegentlebarn. it starts with a clip of people grooming a cow's snout with the caption, "5 signs a cow is truly ✨ happy ✨." each of the captions describing the signs is accompanied by clips of cows exhibiting them. they are:

"1. they expose their belly for tummy rubs as a sign that they trust you 2. they initiate gentle physical contact like licking or hugging you 3. they're chewing cud - this means they feel safe & their digestive system is doing its thing 👍 4. zoomies! just like with dogs, this is most often a playful, happy behavior 5. they make a 'purring' sound - cows do this when they're extremely relaxed and content. it's like a big exhale"

Emergency: Irish farmed animal sanctuary urgently has to relocate
Chuffed
☙ Thank you with all my heart to everyone who has supported this fundraiser so far! ❧Most of you will know that, differing from the original

Heartstone needs to urgently relocate, which requires the acquisition of a residential 'cattle' farm in the East of the country. The situation at the current farm here in Sligo has disastrously deteriorated due to torrential rainfall caused by the unfolding climate catastrophe, causing the farm to sink and the buildings to collapse. You can find more details about the situation and some photos in my social media posts, especially on Instagram (links at the bottom of this page). On top of the need to relocate, the property we were originally fundraising for has long found another owner, and so has the second, third, fourth one... with property prices continuously skyrocketing due to Covid, Brexit and reasons unknown to me, and property being snapped up by what must be investors in a matter of days. However, there is again one (and only one!) property in all of Ireland for sale that would suit the requirements of the current and future Heartstone gang (including those in foster care), and it would thankfully still allow us to expand at least to a small extent into the other areas we want - and for environmental reasons desperately need - to branch into, most importantly vegan rewilding (or, more precise, v-wilding - see explanation below) and the practice of and education about truly sustainable veganic food growing. However, for the reasons mentioned, it is also a lot more expensive; much more so than the goal of this fundraiser suggests. Please support Heartstone and this fundraiser if you can; please share, and forward it to anyone who might be able to help; especially philanthropists, donor syndicates, or other groups or individuals who might appreciate the unique holistic and intergrated concept behind Heartstone - to my knowledge also the only vegan organic sanctuary in the world - and who might also be in the position to help out with a larger sum. Given the disastrous situation at the current Heartstone farm and the developments on the property market, the clock is very much ticking!

i can tell half these fans watched the show like 2 times

aint no way the debate almost 20 years later is kataang or zutara? They were kids, uneducated, living on the run, traumatized children. Who were later placed in child marriages by the writers to appease adults who thought they looked kawaii together. This is sick.

Katara will forever trying to be her mother stuck in time, Zuko will forever be afraid of his shadow and reflection and Aang will always be that child with more pain than he can handle. I hate people who barely know these characters talking about ships and romances. They are so much more than that. The creators cant even delve into the characters because the fans catch a tantrum every time they do something adult or imperfect. Can't wait for the animated films to come out hope its ultra realistic and crushes everyones fantasies. These kids are warriors but people think they are cutie pies.

The show is spiritual above all else yet people only talk about this mess. Like tai chi is a real thing. Energy bending is a real thing. Katata does reiki heaking, Zuko's heat breath its a style of yoga, Aang being vegeterian and his love for animals that comes from universal oneness. Appa and momo are shown as concious beings.

So much to discuss, yet the focus is in a 2 dimensional understanding of relationships.

Guru patik was correct attachment especially to the false ideal of love via romance is stupid. The irony of Aang dying to save Katara is that honestly if given the choice over her father and brother or grandmother or Aangs life.. she wouldnt do the same for him. The love was misguided. Which is exactly the lesson of the story. But people think that choosing romance over your own soul is good. No it makes you a fool. Aang betrayed his own self and he died for it. Notice he only mastered the avatar state after he realized the others werent serious like he was cause in the end it was his life. And none of them would of fought the firelord for him. Even if they did they wouldnt of lasted five minutes. Zuko and katara could barely handle Azula. And then they only beat her because she had a whole breakdown. Only momo was with him until the end. This is why I hate fanservice it gives shippers to much to go off of.

people need to stop acting like Aang didnt treat Tenzin as his clear favorite and lowkey try to abandon the others. Aang is my favorite in atla and honestly it gives him layers that he was like this. Its so obvious Aang had illegitamate children its not even funny. Aang was not perfect. Aang traveled a lot and mostly with tenzin. The other two were closer with katara. I love avatar fans but sometimes yall forget the writers put subtext for a reason. To read in between the lines. People still think all those lok airbenders came out of nowhere .The characters did not stay perfect children forever. Aang was not a saint. Of course he wanted more airbenders. Those were his people. How would somebody who's people were killed off be turned off by the ideal of bringing them back?

I really do hate the idea that Aang was having kids JUST to repopulate the air nomads. The idea that Tenzin was a third time’s the charm situation, that Aang kept “trying” for an airbender and was disappointed with Kya and Bumi

I honest to god think Aang was not thinking “I hope this kid’s an airbender!” Each time. I don’t think the thought would even cross his mind until someone else suggested it. He’d be typed up thinking about how he’ll balance his new child in his life, Katara’s health, how to even be a father having no parents himself. All of those take priority in his mind

I honestly think Aang would be super appalled by the suggestion that “repopulating” was his goal with his family. What it says how about he thinks of his wife.

If anyone is going to have the thought “I hope it’s an airbender” I’d bet it was Katara. It’s still not why. But she knows and loves Aang and has seen how hard he’s struggled without the airbenders, how lonely he’s gotten, I could see Katara having the thought “For Aang’s sake I hope you’re an airbender” before Aang ever thinks “I hope you’re an airbender”

I don’t know man. This idea is just so gross to me, and I hate how it’s thrown around by the fans like it must be the case, with no room for questions, why ELSE would Aang be having kids?

Rubs me the wrong way. Really does

this is so so unpopular...but they both lowkey deserved better. They trauma bonded and never got a chance to explore and grow and change. That is why Aang was a terrible dad to his other two kids and I'm guessing Katara who was originally a strong willed person...didn't do anything about it. Their relationship wasn't healthy. Aang was 12...12 and then marries his first crush who was basically his fill in mother at what 16? He pretty much had no childhood and then immediately started having kids. I love both katara and aang but idealizing their relationship doesn't do them any favors. Not saying culturally Katara wouldn't of married young anyway but that was NOT Aang's culture and he certainly wouldn't of grown up to be strapped down and monogamous.

He worshipped Katara, correct, but just because she is the girl and he is the guy who sacrificed everything does NOT make it a healthy happy perfect relationship. I admit Zuko is a bad match for her too. But realistically Katara would of married some guy her age and had kids young regardless of the events of the show. Aang had nothing to go back to. No culture, no home, no friends. Of course he was desperate and had abandonment issues. Sorry I just cant with Zutara or Kataang. Like those kids didn't need to be with the equivelent of their middle school classmates. I would of been fine if they all grew up and ended up with other people. It would of been much healthier.

“Katara deserved better”

And then it’s Katara ending up with the boy who worships the ground she walks on, thinks she can do no wrong, gave up God mode for her, helped her commit environmental terrorism, cheered her on when she was beating misogyny out of an old man, was ready to take her to the other side of the world to find her a teacher when he’d just met her, constantly says he believes in her, that she’s amazing, that she inspires people and he’s proud of her.

But yeah, Katara deserved better.

The commoners are also to blame, they planned on contributing to the upper class and becoming apart of it rather than change it. That is the ultimate goal of the average human. To join not change. It's humanity's own hive instinct that is the true downfall. The rich or powerful is such a pointless term. People agreed to give power to the few because they hated their enemies more. They wanted to keep and block out others, so they pledged allegiance to leaders who will guide them in wars to destroy their enemies. The true enemy is ego. Do people who live in the jungles feel inferior. Do they demand money? No, they don't even know what that is. They don't care. If you play someone else's game of course you won't beat them. Giving value to the aristocracy is a mindset. Workers in the end were invented to replace indigenous people who lived off the land. There are no workers in nature. It's an unnatural process. There is only adding to the group your own family. Everything else is fantasy. Rich people don't know you and you don't know them. It's only the ideal of a society that makes everyone work together. That makes 100 people work for one person or a thousand people pay a membership fee to a store to buy food from it. There's nothing like it in nature. So of course one person will screw over the other. It's impossible to demand loyalty from someone who doesn't care about you. And why would they? Nothing in the movie talked about dismantling capitalism or giving back to nature. It's such a sham of a movie. Rich people love it because they recognize it as commentary of how desperate and envious poor people of them. And poor people think it's the rich upper class admitting that they are bad people. In reality it's simple showing both truths from a neutral perspective. Korea is one of the most classist places on earth. Poor people are treated as subhuman. The movie cast is full of rich people. It's barely a critique and if it is it is a very ironic one. No real lessons were taught and obviously nothing was learned from the film seeing how much people love it. It was simply another puff piece to make the upper class feel clever. The irony is poor people all over the world spent money watching this all while feeling like it was for them. That if anything is the lesson. Stop trying to get rich people to understand wealth inequality. The lion will NEVER feel bad for the gazelle. But having a victim mentality is even worse, selling out one another as a response is why the poor are still the poor. Spending money on, promoting and endorsing movies that glorify rich people's ignorance is why we cannot complain too much.

when parasite said the rich can afford to be kind, when parasite said global warming is most catastrophic for those least responsible, when parasite said the rich are the ones with access to sunlight, when parasite said the efforts of the working class are invisible to their exploiters, when parasite said water only ever flows from the rich down to the poor and never in reverse, when parasite said the rich are the real parasites for leeching off of their workers' labour

Black women are really beautiful. This dude online was calling a really beautiful ethnic woman ugly because she looked more on the natural homely side and I realized how screwed the black community is. Like that's what your people naturally look like. It's really pitiful he felt he needed to say that just to clarify that ofc a natural woman of color can't be seen as beautiful. I don't blame some women for just saying screw all men cause it's normal for a dude to say you're ugly if you're natural. Yet they can and will shame you if you try to look like the societal standard. Meanwhile he was working on his health and on a spiritual journey, men are so unserious.
