Aerith thoughts

I like to imagine that Aerith slowly got over Zack after going on her adventure saving the world with friends.

For those who have been in relationships or at least had a boyfriend or girlfriend in highschool, it can be really hard to get over heartbreak if your environment and the people around it don’t change.

For Aerith, her first boyfriend by all accounts ghosts her one day after months to years of causally dating and she is still in contact with his co workers, saying they can deliver letters to him if she wants. It’s natural for her to assume that he just found another girl or died during one of his missions.

Crisis core (a terrible game btw) adds context to their relationship and honestly as someone who was a little interested in their relationship dynamic, I wasn’t expecting the few scenes they have together to be hanging out for a little bit but then Zack gets a call from work so he’s gotta go.

It does add context to the player that hey dude maybe Zack did ghost Aerith. He seems like an amazing person but the game chose to show that he was always too busy and he had other relationships to tend to.

On Aerith’s end, it seems she really enjoyed being with Zack but her time with him was always cut short. That must of really sucked for her because I bet she always wished he stayed longer. To me (the player), it felt like Zack didn’t or couldn’t prioritize Aerith in their relationship and Aerith knew and wished something would change.

Rebirth adds new context with two things: Zack WAS OBSESSED with Aerith. Couldn’t wait to tell his buddies about her. That’s sweet but not really the vibe I got from him in Crisis Core and def not in the OG when he was barely a character.

Another thing is that Aerith rather quickly gets over Zack (whether or not she knows it) after meeting Cloud, Tifa and gang. Having a new boy to mess with was def a fun change in her life but also having a bestie like Tifa must have made her feel comfortable talking about her experiences with Zack as shown in Rebirth. When she met the two, her relationship with Zack still defined her to some degree or at least was one of her biggest hang ups she wanted to inform people about because it was on her mind.

What’s interesting is that before meeting Cloud, Aerith is stuck in this cycle that I’m sure many people who experience heartbreak know well but being stuck in the same environment but without someone you hold dear. For me, it felt like I could never get out of feeling like I was ever going it to get over it. However for me, I got so much better and later got over that person when I got out of that environment I associated the heartbreak with and reconnected with some friends of mine. I believe the timeline of Aerith meeting Cloud and gang to her death, it was around one to two months. I think Aerith legitimately got over Zack (maybe 80%) by nibelheim or if you get her date it’s like 100% by return to gold saucer.

All Aerith had to do was create new memories with new people who gave her a new purpose in life. Not only that but she was travelling 24/7 saving the world with her bestie and new boy toy and a gang of new friends. She left her home and adventured off to actually live life and stop Sephiroth. I’m sure this fulfills her fantasies of creating memories with people and just being a normal young woman. I mean she was kinda living the typical boyfriend girlfriend dynamic but she wanted more out of it. I think Aerith really fell in love with Cloud because he prioritized her more than Zack regardless of infinity levels just from Cloud saving Aerith from Shinra and other smaller things that happened in Rebirth. She def said life got better during her cosmo canyon speech. I will say that in the OG, her relationship with Zack was not as important to her character as it is in the remake series. In the OG, I felt like the story was telling to tell me that she doesn’t want to talk about it because she wants to still look available to Cloud/the player but still have different characteristics (past boyfriend, been in a relationship, experience older girl option, missing boyfriend, etc) when compared to the other girls.

To summarize, I like how they showed Aerith getting over one of her biggest personally obstacles which was her missing boyfriend from her teenage years. She let it be one of her defining aspects of her character and now she’s so much more than a past heartbreak. She could actually enjoy life until her end 🥹

we talk a lot about how sasuke and naruto are so crazy about each other but there’s never enough attention on how the rest of the naruto cast Also thinks they are two fucking lunatics. like we are not alone on this. you have jiraiya telling naruto he needs to not go and chase a mf who tried to snatch his heart out his ribcage and naruto is like no i’d rather be a fucking moron for the rest of my life honestly. you have naruto leaving a mission and saying sory i cannot stay i need to go home and wait for sasuke and the fucking platypus looks at him ???? like he even had me confused where are you goin g to wait? ? why are you saying that like sasuke is coming back the fuck did i miss??? you have the kage summit arc which is just a whole bucket of ice being dropped onto you because you come in and immediately get slapped in the face by naruto letting himself be beat up because he won’t tell them where sasuke is??? like he has any fucking idea where sasuke is. and sai tries to make him come to his senses like naruto??? naruto WHAT ARE U DOING. it’s so bad they need an intervention. right after that naruto faces the raikage and gets on his knees saying i know my almost boyfriend almost killed your brother but i promise it wasn’t on purpose he was just being silly please don’t put a bounty on his head a war will literally ensue. and like. there’s LAYERS to this. 1. even RAIKAGE is like BOY what are you doing. STAND UP. 2. at this point you can count the people who like sasuke on the fingers of one hand like WHO is gonna start a war over him… naruto out there moving a war against a whole country by himself over his bf ok you go girl i guess. after this it gets even worse like gaara has to go up to him and be like SASUKE DOWSNT CARE ABOUT YOU. HE DOES NOT WANT YOU. and naruto just slaps his hand away in front of his family like rude?????? ignoring anything it is hilariouuusssss and then sai is like sorry. sakura lied to you they are actually off to kill sasuke and naruto gets a panic attack so severe he passes out. like i am not joking it was so bad his friends tried to kill sasuke behind his back. and then naruto escapes bedriddenment (is that a word?) after passing out from his panic attack to run and make sure NOBODY kills sasuke. like he’s on a RUSH leaping those trees he’s a boy on a mission. then after he gets there he’s like kakashi DO NOT TOUCH HIM. they launch themselves at each other bla bla gay monologues did you see what was in my heart and then. and then naruto is like. wait sasuke. and sasuke waits like sorry that’s such a little thing but it’s so funny to me like sasuke was just acting a lil murderous crazy manic wtv but naruto told him to wait and he waits. ok good boyfriend. anyways moving on naruto is like do you get it sasuke. if we fight again we will BOTH DIE! (everybody gets a ?????? bubble) i am the only one who can shoulder all that hatred. i will CARRY THE BURDEN OF YOUR HATRED AND WE WILL DIE TOGETHER! and . absolutely Everybody in that room just goes ???????????? what the FUCK is he TALKING ABKHT. everybody except sasuke. sasuke smirks and he’s like sure. they just talked about dying together and meeting each other in a different life where they’ll be free of their burdens and they’re just Fine and all ok smiling at each other and everyone is so fucking confused. like the entire supporting cast is with us side eyeing sasuke and naruto and thinking what in the everloving FUCK is WRONG WITH YOU????????

This is like the weirdest non-anime post I’ll make but I recently cut ties with a long time friend because she prioritized her partner over her friendships.

For the longest time I would be so confused why someone who said they were scared to lose me, would fly me out to visit them and stay up at night talking to me would also leave me on delivered for 6-8 weeks at a time. And she was so strict about that being a non-negotiable about her. She was unemployed, didn’t go to school, and didn’t have a car. She would tell me that there would be nothing going on in her life because she can’t do much but play video games at home.

I would beg her to get back to me sooner because I didn’t want her to miss out on big celebrations in my life but she almost would. However, for some reason she was there for me for emergencies.

I confronted her about it because I no longer wanted to tell her anything because the being left on delivered hurt me.

We concluded that it was an incompatibility issue but she made a statement what brought so much closure. She genuinely believed and strictly followed the principle, that if you have a partner/dating someone, you don’t need to maintain friends the traditional way. You shouldn’t share anything more about yourself or make time for others because you’re not dating them. The majority of emotional intimacy would be with the partner. Like purposefully not put effort into a friendship anymore. That’s why she was so strict and even proud of leaving majority of her friends on delivered for weeks to months on end. She told me that she compromised with me by getting back to me within 6 weeks rather than 8 weeks like what she does with her friend group. Her comments made me feel like I was being too needy for being left on delivered for 6-8 weeks at a time. Doesn’t that just fuck you up? She believed it was abnormal to check up with friends once or twice a month. It was abnormal to know how they were on a day or week to week basis because she’s not dating them.

She got a little defensive when I responded back with that it sounds like you center your partner above all else.

People sure are interesting. She said it works for her other friends, despite her not knowing them very well. Also, all of her friends are dudes who she plays video games with. I wanted to tell her maybe the reason why they don’t say anything about it is because they know you refuse to change.

In all fairness, I guess I should have noticed I was her only female friend. Also she made a comment before about how her perfect friend is someone she sees for dinner twice a year. That’s not a friend, that’s a co worker.

He covered everyone else’s face but Sasuke’s. This guy I SWEAR.

PLEASE PLAY THE GAMES. Dont just watch only watch the 40 minute Sephiroth cutscene on YouTube and base your entire perception of the guy. If yall at least learned the plot of the game, you would really appreciate the character more.

MORE OVER, THE QUALITY OF SEPHIROTH FANFICS WOULD INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY IF YALL COULD REFERENCES SOME OF THE GAME’S LOCATIONS AND NAIL DOWN SUPPORTING CHARACTER MOTIVATIONS AND PERSONALITY.

Some of yall don’t know Sephiroth’s characterization and seem to go off your personal headcanons or use typical anime tropes when writing him. Sephiroth isn’t some anime bad boy, he’s vindictive, petty and scary soft spoken. Just look at how he flicked Aerith’s blood off his masamune towards Cloud. Or when his hand kept running up Cloud’s back and up unto his neck in one of Cloud’s hallucinations. I get that from watching clips out of context, his actions might seem like a dom daddy and all but he’s more than that if you see it through different perspectives. Like don’t forget, he’s trying to destroy the world with a giant meteor crashing down and wiping everyone out.

I know I’m like a decade late to this but Sarada still does not look like either her parents. She still looks like a splitting image of Karin with black hair.

It’s just a bad design choice. Sure it’s humbling that the Sasuke Uchiha didn’t just have a daughter, but a daughter who’s a goody two-shoes tomboy nerd. Not tomboyish like Sakura but in a way where if teenage Sasuke met Sarada, he would think she’s lame/uninteresting.

I don’t know why but I always pegged Sasuke as someone who preferred having a son over a daughter. He’s just not a girl dad you know?

Kinda like how Itachi wanted a younger brother than sister. Women and female beings just aren’t important to Sasuke. Sasuke isn’t going to entertain playing dolls or decorating a room with pink and glitter. He’s a tough parent who is just too masculine for girly daughter father things. That’s probably why he’s just not included in her life outside of battle. Another reason why he struggled to connect with her outside of not being in her life.

It’s so confusing to finish the games and see the fanfics of him, cloud and secondary characters and EVERYONE is mis-characterized because it’s written from the perspective of someone who watched ff7 crisis core with no context and had to rely on typical anime tropes to somewhat understand it. If the writer doesn’t even know what Jenova is, it hurts the story. Also like who is your target audience boo? Other people who have not played the games and only understand the characters through fanart?

I don’t know how many times I have to say this BUT folks I PROMISE YOU WILL ENJOY THE FINAL FANTASY 7 EXPERIENCE MORE WHEN YOU ACCEPT THE EXISTENCE OF THE VERY OBVIOUS LOVE TRIANGLE.

This is more so directed towards newer fans but girlies, the love triangle in that game is literally the video game equivalent of the rei vs asuka debate in anime.

Life is so much easier when you play or experience the game for what it is. I get that many of you identify with the characters, but god are there more important things to focus on 😭
