skip and loafer has done it again. i am a WRECK. shima has become one of my favorite characters EVER written and this chapter just made my love for him so much stronger. his growth has been highlighted for so many chapters and getting to this moment where the truth of the incident is revealed was incredible. he had buried his true feelings all these years, all for his mother’s sake. younger shima had so much pressure with no way to let it all out for so long. however, because of the new path he has created, he finally had the courage to face his past. he has grown to the point where he can confidently say that he isn’t miserable anymore. that he’s finally okay. he performs for his past self now, to show younger shima that it does get better, that there are happier days to come. stl 68 was so moving, you can read it over and over again and never stop. shima has come such a long way from the beginning and i can’t wait to see what else is in store for him.
today is the 20 year anniversary of vinland saga. this story is incredible. following thorfinn’s journey of revenge as a 16 year old, to a slave learning the beauty of farming, who would later understand the true meaning of “you have no enemies”. thorfinn’s character is so beautiful and so amazing. he devotes himself to a life of peace & to becoming the best man he can be. his strength and courage to be kind is inspiring. yukimura is an amazing storyteller and i am so grateful he took the time to create the perfection that is vinland saga.
crazy to me how tobio could practically read shoyo’s thoughts like it’s nothing. they’ve known each other for a couple of months but they already know how the other one thinks. they understand each other so well that they don’t even need to speak to be heard. tobio can just take one look at shoyo and know what to do. shoyo can just look up at tobio and communicate with his eyes alone. kagehina can understand one another on a level that no one else could.
relationships between characters will always be my favorite thing. seeing these characters have flaws, strengths, passions, hardships, just like people in the real world and then having someone who accepts them completely is so beautiful. all the ships i love are so comforting because it isn’t JUST the romantic aspect that is special but the bond between the characters is so natural. their relationship didn’t just happen in one day, but it slowly grew over time to become something meaningful. almost like they had been waiting their entire lives to find someone who accepts them as they are.
"I have love and dreams too."
*Loud sobbing*
what i love about haikyuu is how realistic and human it is. not everyone continued with volleyball; some characters had to take longer than others to make their dreams come true, while some achieved their dreams much sooner. hinata & oikawa moved across the world to become better players and that difficult decision paid off in the end!! and some characters, like kageyama, knew what they wanted since they were kids and stayed dedicated for years. every person had their own path and dreams, and it all came true! no matter how long or short their journey was, each character achieved something great in the end. haikyuu is just so beautiul and moving, and i'm so grateful it exists!!!!
