i don’t want to sound like some person that hates on ppl who change the skin tone or the identity of a character but like...some of the pics y’all make that make characters look “diverse” just feels wrong.

Like if you only make the angry aggressive guy or the sassy girl of the group darker.

Or if you make some japanese characters from anime darker with a mustard yellow tinge and buck teeth.

And when y’all only make trans headcanons of canonically sensitive men and strong women.

Like these things shouldn’t have to be addressed but they do. Y’all are doing more harm with your try with diversity then if you just left the character design alone.

If you want to help people affected by the explosion, I beg of you please don't donate to petitions! The government will most likely steal it because our lebanese gov is just amazing like that 😒🙃🙃

If you do want to help please donate to the red cross. Also try and find lebanese people asking you to directly help them(kofi patreon and idk what else there is). Our houses, shops, etc... Are all shattered so we need more direct donation to be able to help.

Thankfully my house wasn't affected, but there's an artist on Instagram named Audrey (@audreyghousoub)that has put up a kofi link in one of her stories to directly help her rebuild her house. That's the only person ik who needs help (well at least with money) so it would mean a lot to help her. Edit: here's the link.

Other than that, if anyone else needs help, don't hesitate to just say it! Everyone is willing to help💕 stay safe everyone!

Watch the video till the very end please (the end is when the explosion goes off.)

I live in Lebanon and the fiercest explosion went off in the midst of Beirut today, killing off an ungodly amount of human beings (more and more people are dying as I write this) and injuring up to 5000 people whose cases are immensely critical. Today,, at approximately 6 pm, hospitals were completely torn to shreds, people have been buried underneath fallen buildings, fires have been ignited almost everywhere, blood staining the streets in an excruciating manner, in addition to people that flew and fell to the sea due to the impact of the explosion. And it is certainly worth mentioning the millions upon millions' worth of damages what with buildings and cars and stores. Plenty of people are missing, it's an overall mess that is quite frankly very traumatizing.

What Lebanese people have been undergoing in recent times:

Lebanon has been going through a major economical decline that grows worse and worse by the day. The prices have heightened and the salaries remain the same, scarcely anyone has the capacity of affording basic needs anymore. There has been an unfolding revolution the past year, and the lebanese society has been protesting against the humiliation thrust upon our lives due to our miserable excuse for a government, and though the streets bled with thrashing, screaming citizens fighting for their utmost basic human rights, that caused mere to no change in the way things go around here, in fact, it only made it worse. We're being provided with, metaphorically, a droplet's worth of water and nearly no electricity, a pregnant woman has even passed away recently due to a heat stroke (as there were no means of cooling off)

What caused the setting off of this explosion?

The ignorance, heartlessness, and overall brutality of the government and the people in control.

A critical amount of chemicals (2700 tons of ammonium and other nitrates) were left inside a ship along the port of Beirut, and though the people in charge of this transaction were warned that heat and perspiration have the capability of destroying the whole of Lebanon in ode to a massive explosion, they refused to do anything about it and left the chemicals in there for years on end.

Up until, surprise surprise, the explosion went off and devestated Lebanon almost entirely.

I don't have much followers, and I know that this post isn't going to magically heal what is unfolding in this, priorly gorgeous, magnificent country, but I truly hope with all my heart that you find it within yours to spread awareness on this topic so that it would be more widespread,, so that Lebanon gets the aiding it deserves and the people from outer places slap the 'big bosses' awake, or at least pressure them into resigning, whatever it takes to make this place sufferable, tolerable, somewhere you can picture yourself residing in.

Lebanon is a place of infinite traditions, diversity, creativity, joy, and love. Most of the people here are open-hearted and wholesome. We all deserve far better.

My heart aches for the people that have passed away today, and I shall pray for the ones stuck in hellish suffering.

This is important.

A Spanish Film Company Is Gonna Release This Big Pile Of YIKES Next Year And Well.... YIKES.

A Spanish film company is gonna release this big pile of YIKES next year and well.... YIKES.

This El-Dorado rip-off is supposed to be a retelling of Spain's conquest of the Philippines... but seems to portray the colonizers as the good guys while the one king who saw right through their crap and fought back would be the bad guy.

Here's the thing. When the Spaniards came, most of the tribes welcomed them. But there was one who was suspicious. Lapu Lapu, the king of Mactan island. He distrusted the colonizers. Saw them as conqerors using the Filipinos' hospitality as their ticket in. He fought back and killed Magellan and stalled their reach to Mindanao.

Lapu Lapu was right. Once they were in, the Spaniards brought 300 years of subjugation and exploitation to the island. Yeah, sure. Filipinos had a lot of in-fighting (like every other society) before they came. But what the Spaniards did was shit on a large scale. Our culture virtually destroyed because Christianity. Priests raped a lot of women. Men were treated like second class citizens. Women were treated like slaves. Women enjoyed more freedom during the precolonial era.

I'm not one to judge a movie before it comes out. But this is worrying. Even if they stay true to history, they could credit Lapu-Lapu's heroism to the Flyn Rider knock-off in typical White Savior™️ fashion. I seriously hope I'm wrong and they do deliver and present the colonizers as the two-faced opportunists they were. But even then, I can already see some problems. Like:

A Spanish Film Company Is Gonna Release This Big Pile Of YIKES Next Year And Well.... YIKES.

After ruling us for 300 years, you'd think they'd remember what we actually look like. DEFINITELY NOT LIKE THIS!!!

Moana's right there!!! They could've copied characters off of that instead of characters from El Dorado for fuck's sake!!!! And why the hell is the king of Cebu, which is just off the coast of Mactan, PALE!!! Glutathione didn't exist back then!!!! WTF?!

My country's real suspicious about this movie. They plan to check it thoroughly before releasing it in local theaters. If necessary, ban it. I'm not gonna judge people if they choose to watch.

But please. Whatever this movie's spin is going to be, it is important to know the truth about this part of our history before going in to see it. Lapu Lapu is a hero. The Spaniards are conquerors who brought 300 years of suffering when the Filipinos let them in.

As Much As The ATA Law Was A Bad Decision, Though, However, It Basically Says Protests And Dissents Are

As much as the ATA Law was a bad decision, though, however, it basically says Protests and Dissents are not "Terrorism" according to the Document itself that I read (I posted it here somewhere. I meticulously reviewed the law and I hope you could read it too than reading click-baiting articles), and hoping Dissents aren't actually ruled out to the list according to updated version of the law,

I think I could be proud of this government for not heeding to Trump's example of hiding statistics, reaping away medical care to LGBTs, and making the health issue a shallow political quarrel.

So yes, you are lucky to be in a country where "Conservatives" don't make posts about not wearing masks because it's a 'liberal agenda'.

This is our Really Big Coin. It is big because it makes other things look small when photographed next to it. Actually, it is a 20:1 replica of the EUR 50-cent, you see it being milled out here. We needed to do quite a bit of sanding, lacquering and smudging to obtain the desired look and some climbing to get into required shooting position (you need to get up real high to take good pictures). The result is a short series of photographs, attempting to visually scale down real-sized objects.

A lot of bisexual history has been erased so I figured I’d remind you all of some quotes and clear up any misunderstandings about bisexuality.

Bisexuality has been described as attraction regardless of gender for decades

“I am bisexual because I am drawn to people regardless of gender”

-‘The Bisexual Community: Are We Visible Yet?’, 1987

“In the midst of whatever hardships we [bisexuals] had encountered, this day we worked with each other to preserve our gift of loving people for who they are regardless of gender.”

-Elissa M., “Bi Conference,” Bi Women, 1985

“To be bisexual is to have the potential to be open emotionally and sexually to people as people, regardless of their gender.”

-Office Pink Publishing, “Introduction,” Bisexual Lives, 1988

“Being bisexual does not mean they have sexual relations with both sexes but that they are capable of meaningful and intimate involvement with a person regardless of gender.”

-Janet Bode, “The Pressure Cooker,” View From Another Closet, 1976

“Over the past fifteen years, however, [one Caucasian man] has realized that he is ‘attracted to people — not their sexual identity’ and no longer cares whether his partners are male or female. He has kept his Bi identity and now uses it to refer to his attraction to people regardless of their gender.”

-Paula C. Rust, “Sexual Identity and Bisexual Identities,” Queer Studies: A Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Anthology, 1998

“To be bisexual is to have the potential to be open emotionally and sexually to people as people , regardless of their gender”

-Sex and Sexuality: A Thematic Dictionary of Quotations, 1993

“In the midst of whatever hardships we [bisexuals] had encountered, this day we worked with each other to preserve our gift of loving people for who they are regardless of gender.”

-Elissa M., “Bi Conference,” Bi Women, 1985

“To be bisexual is to have the potential to be open emotionally and sexually to people as people, regardless of their gender.”

-Office Pink Publishing, “Introduction,” Bisexual Lives, 1988

Bisexuality doesn’t have to mean a person “sees gender”

“[S]ome bisexuals say they are blind to the gender of their potential lovers and that they love people as people… For the first group, a dichotomy of genders between which to choose doesn’t seem to exist”

-Kathleen Bennett, “Feminist Bisexuality, a Both/And Option for an Either/Or World,” Closer to Home: Bisexuality and Feminism,1992

“Some bisexual respondents bypass the issue of ‘degrees’ of attraction to women and men by defining bisexuals as a humanistic, gender-blind way of relating to others. They see bisexuality as a way of loving the person, not their sex, or being nondiscrimintory in their attractions to others. For example, Ludwica wrote, ‘I feel as if I’m open to respond to the person, not just the gender.’ ”

-“Bisexuality and the Challenge to Lesbian Politics: Sex, Loyalty, and Revolution” by Paula C Rust 1995

“I believe that people fall in love with individuals, not with a sex… I believe most of us will end up acknowledging that we love certain people or, perhaps, certain kinds of people, and that gender need not be a significant category, though for some of us it may be.”

Ruth Hubbard, ‘There Is No ‘Natural’ Human Sexuality, Bi Women’ ,1986

“Some women who call themselves ‘bisexual’ insist that the gender of their lover is irrelevant to them, that they do not choose lovers on the basis of gender.”

-Marilyn Murphy, “Thinking About Bisexuality,” Bi Women, 1991

“Some of us are bisexual because we do not pay much attention to the gender of our attractions.”

-Bisexual Politics, Quiries and Visions, 1995

Bisexuality is inclusive of all genders

“Who is this group for exactly? Anyone who identifies as bisexual or thinks they are attracted to or interested in all genders… This newly formed [support] group is to create a supportive, safe environment for people who are questioning their sexual orientation and think they may be bisexual.”

-“Coming Out as Bisexual,” Bi Women, 1994

“It’s easier, I believe, for exclusive heterosexuals to tolerate (and that’s the word) exclusive homosexuals than [bisexuals] who, rejecting exclusivity, sleep with people not genders…”

-Martin Duberman, 1974 “The bisexual community should be a place where lines are erased. Bisexuality dismisses, disproves, and defies dichotomies. It connotates a loss of rigidity and absolutes. It is an inclusive term.” -‘Essay for the Inclusion of Transsexuals’, Kory Martin-Damon, 1995

“Bisexual — being emotionally and physically attracted to all genders.”

-The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, “Out of the Past: Teacher’s Guide” 1999

“Bisexuality is much more than, and different from, the sensationalized ‘third choice, best of both worlds’ phenomena it’s made out to be. Bisexuality is an inclusive term that defines immense possibilities avalable to us, whether we act on them or not.”

-“Bi Any Other Name”, Loraine Hutchens and Lani Ku'ahumany, 1991

“Bisexual consciousness, because of its amorphous quality and inclusive nature, posed a fundamental threat to the dualistic and exclusionary thought patterns which were- and still are- tenaciously held by both the gay liberation leadership and its enemies.”

-“The Bisexual Movement’s Beginnings in the 70s”, Bisexual politics, Naomi Tucker, 1995

Bisexuality historically and currently includes transgender and nonbinary people

“With respect to our integrity as bisexuals, it is our responsibility to include transgender people in our language, in our communities, in our politics, and in our lives”

-Bisexual Politics: Theories, Queries, and Visions by Naomi S Tucker, 1995

“Bisexuality is here defined as the capacity , regardless of the sexual identity label one chooses , to love and sexually desire both same - and other - gendered individuals . The term other-gendered is used here deliberately and is preferable to the term opposite - gendered , because other - gendered encompasses a recognition of the existence of transgendered and transsexual individuals , who may embrace gender identities other than [male and female]”

-“Bisexuality: The Psychology and Politics of an Invisible Minority” by Beth A. Firestein and Dallas Denny, 1996

“From the earliest years of the bi community, significant numbers of TV/TS [transvestite/transsexual] and transgender people have always been involved with it. The bi community served as a kind of refuge for people who felt excluded from the established gay and lesbian communities.”

-Kevin Lano, “Bisexuality and Transgenderism,” Anything That Moves, 1998

“Bisexuality means having the capacity to be attracted to people of both major genders ( don’t forget: there are gender minorities, too) .” “As with the word Bisexual, they usually also imply that relations with gender minorities are possible.”

-‘Bisexuality: A Reader and a Sourcebook’, 1990

“There were a lot of transvestites and transsexuals who came to [the San Francisco Bisexual Center in the 1970s], because they were not going to be turned away because of the way they dressed.”

-David Lourea in “Bisexual Histories in San Francisco in the 1970s and Early 1980s,” Dworkin, 2000 Journal of Bisexuality

“The actual lived non-binary history of the bisexual community and movement and the inclusive culture and community spirit of bisexuals are eradicated when a binary interpretation of our name for ourselves is arbitrarily assumed.”

-“Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out” by Lani Ka’ahumanu

“In the bisexual movement as a whole, transgendered individuals are celebrated not only as an aspect of the diversity of the bisexual community, but, because like bisexuals, they do not fit neatly into dichotomous categories.”

-“Bisexuality and the Challenge to Lesbian Politics” by Paula C. Rust, 1995

I was looking up stuff and found this article about gender-neutral language is developing. I found this because I was looking for arab ace things.

For queer and feminist communities in the Middle East, the fight to gain acceptance in society has come in tandem with another conversation: how to define words like gay, bisexual and transgender in Arabic. Some people default to a transliteration of the English words in LGBTQ, others prefer the phrase “mujtama’a al meem” (مجتمع الميم) — or the meem community — a reference to the m-sounding Arabic letter that starts off these terms when translated into Arabic. After years of efforts led by activists in Lebanon, the word “mithly” (مثلي) and “mithliya” (مثلية) for gay is now standard for many media.

Anyways thought that was interesting to see the debate between the use of English and the active disuse of it. The article goes over more cultures as well.

A guide to how gender-neutral language is developing around the world
Washington Post
What pronouns do you use? There are, in fact, many non-binary ways to answer in historically gendered-languages.

There’s also this arab ace group if you want more ace things in arabic.

Native American Hand Talkers Fight to Keep Sign Language Alive
Prior to contact with Europeans, North American Native peoples were not a unified culture but hundreds of different cultures and tribes, so when speakers of one language met those of another they communicated in the lingua franca of Hand Talk

Research has shown that Hand Talk is still being used by a small number of deaf and hearing descendants of the Plains Indian cultures.

“Hand Talk is endangered and dying quickly,” said Melanie McKay-Cody, who identifies herself as Cherokee Deaf and is an expert in anthropological linguistics.

McKay-Cody is the first deaf researcher to specialize in North American Hand Talk and today works with tribes to help them preserve their signed languages. She is pushing for PISL to be incorporated into mainstream education of the deaf.

I personally think they just rise from the ground like it was water. Like a child coming out of the ground, vertically, and when they are fully emerged, awaken into the world. There isn't even a hole in the ground or indents to show where they rose. There are just footprints from nowhere

How Nations are born Headcanon

Ok so, I think the nations just crawl out of bushes and trees.

Like Alfred crawled out of rose bush and boom badda bing you have a child, not a grown child, but a child.

Matthew came from a tree, landing right ontop of Alfred.

They also respawn at the same plant(or similar because that one might be extinct). So China crawls out of a bush, dusts himself off and runs back to where ever he was last and screams at who ever executed him.

Feel free to add in your own interpretations of how the nations came into existence
