like this social-simulator using a calendar system to showcase this apathetic husk of a protagonist with a laissez-faire attitude toward their life transform into a someone who cherishes the people theyve met over the course of your playthrough so dearly theyre willing to lay down their life for their safety is moving. by making you play through each and every day of this persons life, from the monotony, to the horror, to the simple pleasures, allows them to flourish into this complex, whole person who learns to love life
and i love the idea of flipping that on its head, taking a character who defined themselves in relationship to your protagonist and placing them in a timeloop where theres no calendar progression, where the days dont move forward, where you play through march 31st over and over and over again, because when you loose someone important to you, every day feels like an eternity
but the answer does do anything with that idea; it just uses it as pretext for its eighteen-million boring dungeons with half a good scene sprinkled between them, and its such a goddamn shame
and, like, ugh, i understand time constraints and technical limitations are the reason why its the way that it is, but they had something special here. and they squandered it
the answer frustrates me on a conceptual level
