More to the point, if a character you love ever gets hurt or god forbid dies, it is absolutely normal to feel genuine grief and hurt because of it. As far as the chemicals in your brain are concerned, you genuinely just watched your friend/partner/family member get hurt.

Your feelings are valid and normal.

Imagine your F/O just being absolutely lovesick over you. They walk through town and see you everywhere, random things like a snack or a shirt they think you’d like. Somewhere they wanna take you, or a plushie they want to get you as a gift.

Them spacing out during the day, maybe at work, thinking about you. Friends and family members catching them daydreaming and they just respond “Oh! It’s nothing, just got distracted.”

How after the two of you hang out, they look at the place you were sitting and just, ache. That you’re not there anymore. How they try not to look desperate when you text them, thinking that maybe if they wait a minute to open your messages, they won’t have to confront how down BAD they are for you.

Maybe they even swap clothes with you, maybe they take a shirt, or a hoodie or sweater from you, playing it off as a joke or just “something friends do”. But when they get home, it’s wrapped around their favorite pillow, or they wear it around the house sometimes just so they can feel close to you.

Fuck, they really are hung up on you, do they have the courage to actually confess their feelings? Or are they gonna draw it out until they absolutely HAVE to do it.

imagine kissing your touch starved f/o for the first time. maybe they melt into your touch, or they kiss against you harder because they don’t want you to pull away. 

imagine how they sheepishly ask you for more kisses because they liked it so much and want more.

Ooh. Please please make more self-inserts. Not only is it fun you have no idea how much it can help you be kind to yourself. Have the hero of the franchise fall in love with you for what you think are your annoying quirks. Have the wisest man in that fictional world, tell others that your are the kindest and the smartest person he has ever met. Have the evil guy fall for you and revoke his evil ways cuz youre just that hot. Allow yourself to be loved by the fictional characters you look up to and in time you may also begin see how wonderful you really are.

maybe they’re hurt because of a fight (especially if your f/o is a hero or villain 👀), what did they get into a fight over? when they explain it, are they smug and proud of it? or are they embarrassed that they got into a tussle over something so minuscule? did they win or lose?

or is your f/o just really clumsy and got themself hurt in some kind of fall or accident? (imagine the sheepish look they give you when they explain what happened, the light blush coming over their cheeks-)

either way, they look at you with the most loving look in their eyes while you clean their wounds n bandage them up. even if a cut stings or a bruise hurts when you accidentally touch it, this is about the most loved that they’ve felt, and even though they’re in pain, they still feel warm and happy in that moment :]

especially if they have a hard time letting someone else take care of them- the amount of trust they have in you to let you see them hurt and let you take care of them must be huge.

they appreciate it so much, and they won’t let you forget it <3
