I wish this had an explicitly "atheist" option. She never gave off any big religious vibes, and I think the setting in general is pretty a-religious due to the whole Scion+superpowers thing that *some* religions have tried to weaponize, but broadly religion is in decline on Earth Bet. Like, her mom was a hardcore feminist and her dad is a union bigwig, I dunno if church was a big thing in the Hebert household.

I made a Sporcle quiz featuring the many Capes of Brockton Bay.
Can YOU 𫵠name them all?
Another day of my closed laptop staring at me from my desk while my fanfic docs are strewn with tumbleweeds and those little cartoon flies that come from an empty wallet. The only time the muse to write struck was literally in the middle of doing some assignments for my college class.
Tragedy.
it seems my poll about the lamest member of the nine was too easy! So, to give you guys a real challenge, I'm asking instead who the coolest member of the nine is! Please note that "coolest" and "least lame" are two very different things
Note: This is only members of the nine who were present during Arc 11 (and murder rat, who was a member of the nine and was present during arc 11, though not simultaneously)

So I just watched "Gunsmith Cats", which is a 1995 OVA anime set in Chicago. It's really really entertaining. Only three episodes long, though.
It's about gun shop owners, part time bounty hunters, and full time lesbians (allegedly) Rally Vincent and May Hopkins. The ATF blackmails them into helping solve a gun smuggling case, which expands into a wider conspiracy over the three 30 minute episodes, and likely longer in the manga which I plan to read eventually.
It's a show with a lot of fun 90s seinen charm, really reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop in some ways, but that's mainly in the music, vibes, and fights. The OP is just... so good. A very nice way to spend an evening in my opinion.
I also took some screenshots while watching that I have attached below the cut.
I definitely feel like worm, and the fanfics, are at their best when it's "worm the dark superhero story" and not "worm the superhero sci fi story".
Just sort of weakens the setting and world? And I hate how much of a sword of damocles Scion is for so many fics because if you don't change enough about the setting to where Gold Morning doesn't happen, then the plot might have to go there and that doesn't feel like it works for every fic. I admire a fic who states outright in the tags or authors notes that "Hey, Scion just fucked off to be depressed about his alien girlfriend, this story won't have a gold morning" because it lessens that narrative weight that works for canon worm, but not the plot of every fanfic.
Some of my favorite wormfics (Shamus, Postdiluvian Road) are concentrated cape stories about what being a small-time player in the world actually looks like.
Canon Worm is great for what it is, and it also has a narrow focus and pathway of escalation that I love, but I don't think the majority of fics need to follow in the footsteps of.
Haven't read Ward but every mention of stuff from Ward that I see in the wiki (Firmament, Shardspace, Titans, etc) makes me groan.
huge worm spoilers below the cut
honestly, despite the fact that it was baked into the story from the very beginning, i genuinely feel like worm and fanfiction thereof is served well by kind of ignoring the whole source behind the powers.
like obviously the Entitiesā goals drive a lot of the conflict (both a storytelling term and literal fights) but frankly i feel like worm is best when itās about the people living in a world that just kinda fuckin sucks.
āwhat if everything was worse and also people had superpowers and do very human things with themā is way better than the whole interdimensional space whales that have inserted a thing into a bunch of peoples brains that gives them superpowers but also makes them want to fight so that they can explode everything
and donāt get me started on everything in fucking ward
So! The first arc of my Worm/KotOR2 fanfic has been completed. I am going to be taking a brief hiatus to work on more chapters for the fic and organize a healthierĀ upload schedule.
When I release the next chapter, Iāll reblog this post to let anyone interested know.
To those who have already read my fic: thank you so much!
To those who may do after reading this post: your support is greatly appreciated!
It has been a privilege to write this fic so far and I am blown away by the attention it has gotten!
EDIT: i meant first arc oh my gosh its not even close to done, did not meanĀ āfinal arcā
Looking at a medicine bottle that says "do not take more than one in 24 hours" and I can't remember if I took one 5 minutes ago or not, hmmm
Probably shouldn't risk it...
"You need someone to pretend to be a parent/guardian over the phone"
Oh boy, I'm so glad I can count on Taylor "I don't own a cell phone" Hebert for this critical task (help)
You are faced with some random problem and the only person who can help you is the main character from the last piece of media you consumed (you can also do favorite character if there are multiple main characters). You can stay in this universe or be in the universe of the character, whichever you prefer, but the problem remains the same and the only person who can directly help you is the main character. That character can call on the help of those they know in their media, but when it comes down to it, they are the only person really helping you. How do you react to this situation?
