୨୧╼ Violet stood about the beaches shores with a reflective gaze. A reminder of a much simpler time when the Baudelaire s would visit Briny Beach. Precious memories which she held closely to her heart. Chocolate eyes gazed downward, only to notice an immaculate rock at her feet. It had been sometime since she indulged in her once beloved pastime.
Delicate fingers took hold of the singed ribbon around Violet’s wrist. Perhaps after all this time she should have replaced it. But it reminded her that she was a survivor. With a practice motion she tied her hair out of her face. That taken care of she reached down for the run. Her thumb ran over its smooth surface. With a quick flick of the wrist, she skipped the rock across the water expertly. Somethings were never forgotten she supposed. Lips curved upwards in the rare smile.

୨୧╼ It was a rarity that Violet went out. The world was a horrifying place filled with dreadful people. Yet one had to pay the bills – even if they were in hiding. Mostly she did repairs and restoration. This time she had fixed and improved a rather popular karaoke bar’s machine. When the owner of the establishment offered her a few free drinks in the VIP section for her hard work, Beatrice insisted she take them up on it. Saying that Violet spent so much of her life helping and protecting others, she forgot to do things for herself. Reluctantly she agreed, as it had been some time since she had mingled in a public place.
When people began to flood the club, Violet felt a bit overwhelmed. Especially when seemingly well-known individuals entered. Not one to keep up with popular culture, she did not recognize them. It was the reactions to their entrance that was an indicator of their popularity. It always felt so alienating to be out of the loop in an unfamiliar setting.
As the club became more boisterous – Violet needed a break. She made her way to the VIP bathroom for a break. Thankful for an area not so densely populated. A sigh left her mouth, as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. “What are you doing? You don’t belong here.” A sigh left painted lips, as she shook her head. It was then she noticed sound from the other side of the bathroom. So lost in thought and self-loathing, she didn’t realize anyone else was there. It was dangerous for her to be so neglectful of her surroundings. She had to get it together. “My apologies – I didn’t realize anyone else was here.”

୨୧╼ Violet was no stranger to disastrous events. Whether misfortune was big or small could cause internal and external strife. For just because a tragedy may be pebble to one person, it could be a boulder to another. Everyone had their own crosses to bear. While a life full of despair may cause one to become hard – Violet tried her best to maintain her humanity and compassion. It was because of this she approached a girl who seemed a bit lost. “Excuse me Miss, are you alright?”

୨୧╼ Technology has always been a double edge sword. Inventions and discoveries made with positive intention could end up twisted and used for less than savory means. Innovation had a cost, and usually the bill was footed by those who wished to profit. It just so happened to be that war was lucrative. Even so Violet tried her best to maintain her morals in an unjust and cruel world.
It was in libraries that Violet often found a respite. Though she may live in a world where information could be found by the touch of a button, she still preferred the Dewey Decimal System. Sadly, libraries have lost a lot of patronage over the years. Leaving them vestiges of what they once were. So, it surprised her when she felt the presence of someone behind her. “Oh my apologies – am I in your way?”
