This Blitz was for my commission sheet examples, but I'm posting him solo because I think I have a little artblock again, but I don't want the algorithm to think I'm dead. 😅 I wanted to give him his own post eventually anyway, I really like how he turned out :D

They will never let me rest, will they? ft. Bucky Barnes || Thunderbolts (2025) Trailer

Half of me wants to see this movie because I miss Bucky so much. The other half of me wants the MCU to just leave him the eff alone.

I don't know how you can be a Bucky stan and approve of that pcs in Thunderbolts*.

I love Bucky and that scene gutted me.

How are we supposed to believe that:

The Bucky who spent what seems like his entire career in Congress trying to put together the evidence to bring down Valentina would then turn around and work for her? For 14 months?! After what she tried to do to Wakanda?! After he makes a point of telling Mel early in the film that he never had a choice who he worked for but she does? This is the choice we're supposed to believe he would make?

The Bucky who dropped everything to go to Sam when Joaquín was injured in Brave New World, who told Sam that him being Captain America gave people something to aspire to, who knew that Ross had charged Sam with rebuilding the Avengers, wouldn't be at Sam's side as he built that team?

The Bucky who is canonically best friends with Sam (at minimum), who can comfortably tell him he loves him, would allow him to be spoken of the way they talked about him in that pcs? That he would just stand by and allow them to suggest that Sam's the one at fault, that Sam's the one being unreasonable, that Sam should recognize that the Thunderbolts are the legitimate Avengers because the government (?? is Valentina the government now) said so?

This isn't Bucky. This isn't where he's at in his arc by Brave New World. I'm so upset that this is the direction the writers took him (and if it was the Russos who shot this scene, what this means for how they're going to treat the character in Doomsday).

I am also absolutely gutted about how they treated Sam in that pcs, but I haven't seen any positive takes from Sam fans - the consensus (I think) is that that scene was horrible and it's going to have so many repercussions outside the MCU. I am seeing posts from Bucky fans cheering about Bucky's new 'found family' or suggesting that people upset about the pcs are exaggerating and...that is not how I feel right now.

The way that the message of Thunderbolts* is that to get through depression and past traumas you need to reach out and rely on your support system and the whole time Bucky is separate from his and by the end there's a wedge between him and Sam.

Reblogging cause I'm currently sad and mad and disappointed about pookie not getting his Oscar :') But let us not forget what an AMAZING year he's had and how incredibly talented he is. That talent doesn't need a statue to be validated, but I'm still glad that he's started to get more well-deserved recognition. I'm sure there are nothing but brighther, greater things ahead of him. This is just the beginning.

🏆✨️ GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD WINNER SEBASTIAN STAN! ✨️

First artwork of the year is dedicated to Sebastian Stan and his SUPER well-deserved win from yesterday. If you know me, you knew I had to do something in commemoration of my favorite actor finally getting some recognition. 🩵

I know Sebastian doesn't really get into social media anymore (and for good reason honestly), but I sincerely hope someone lets him know how proud us his fans are of him. 🥹

For Zutara Week 2023 (Prompts: "Union" and "Flow")

I had originally sketched/planned this for my 4 Ship Challenge, but ultimately swapped these two for, funnily enough, another Water/Fire ship, Wade and Ember xD But I decided to save it for a special occassion, and what occassion more special than the 15th Zutara Week! (Not to mention the trailer for the live-action remake made me had these two in mind again, so, great timing all around x3)

This is my second ever contribution to a Zutara Week, but hopefully it won't be the last, because I really love these two.

I'm really proud of how this turned out, especially the water ^_^

🌙✨️ Date for the Night (A SciFlash redraw)

SciFlash (human Flashlight) used to be practically all I drew back in 2017 up until maybe early 2020. Most of those artworks haven't aged very well, so I decided to redraw one of my most well-known pieces. I am quite proud of the improvement! I still have a lot of room to keep getting better of course, but it's nice to see how far I've come since I was in high school.

Yeah, I think 17-year-old Ro would be proud of 2024 Ro, to be honest. 😅

I couldn't agree more with this take.

The Agni Kai between Ozai and Zuko was one of the smartest, best additions to the show. I see people complaining about Zuko "fighting back", as though that's a bad thing or takes away the victimhood of his situation.

Zuko is prepared to fight someone else. Then his dad steps in. There's already a ton of pressure, and now confusion overwhelms, because wth why would he fight his dad and HOW. He doesn't want to fight him. But this Agni Kai's point is for honor, to prove himself to him, and a) he is firstly DEFENDING himself from his dad who is the one who starts fighting him hard. (throwing fire at him?? Hello??? Is he just supposed to take it??) b) don't you think Ozai would think worse of him if he didn't do anything at all? And don't you think Zuko takes that in consideration pretty quickly as his dad attacks him?

It's clear Ozai will fight. Now Zuko looks confused and scared during the fight, rightfully so, and he tries to figure out how far this will go. My wife keeps saying that he is sparring (and that y'all don't know about sparring, lol), and that doesn't mean you have to hurt your opponent, not the way Ozai intends. Zuko engages defensively, and then fights his father, hoping that's enough to show him that's he's good at this, that he's skilled. It doesn't have to go as far as Ozai takes it, it COULD just be sparring. Zuko COULD jusy try to show him what he's learned and hope his dad is pleased enough. Isn't that what he keeps trying to do anyway? Get his approval? Both he and Azula. Unfortunately, we know that's impossible.

The unfolding of this Agni Kai drives home the cruelty of Ozai in an even more intense way to me. Because no matter how well Zuko fights, it's not about skills, it's about how far he's willing to go, that's what Ozai is judging. The mentality behind it. Zuko isn't willing to hurt his father when he could, he holds back! That is his "weakness". And the way Ozai punishes this by doing what Zuko refused to do - burning Zuko where Zuko could've burned Ozai - that is a horrible reminder of this "failure" to go far enough, and the consequences it entails.

Zuko's scar now isn't just random placement, it has meaning behind it beyond the basic cruelty of Ozai hurting his child. It directly references Zuko's "weakness". Ozai showing him how it's done directly on his face, serving as a constant reminder that he couldn't be the strong one, so he got hurt by the one who was willing to be.

The sequence of Zuko holding back and Ozai NOT holding back but purposefully pausing and choosing to punish him this way was mind-blowing. Such a powerful, terrifying moment that makes Ozai feel even crueler than in the OG.

I don't think Zuko not engaging in the OG is bad at all, it virtually gets the same result; but I also don't think it's bad for him to decide to engage. It doesn't take away anything from the point, for me, the way it plays out in the live action takes it further. It examplifies Zuko and Ozai's relationship and Zuko's efforts - never enough - perfectly.
