In every (most) fics. Danny figures out the batfams identities, via Jason and his being ead aftereffects or just figuring out, which is cool and all. But what if he didn't.
Like what if Danny got adopted by the Waynes and just didn't realize how weird they were and vigilante like they were, he was just obvious to it. Insane amounts of obviousness. It could go one of two ways. Him genuinely not realizing.
Danny: hey, you look a lot like someone i know *suspicious eye squint* Nightwing: Ehm, do I? most be some good-looking person, *nervous laughter* Danny: Hmmm *Shrugs* ah well, must a freaky coincidence. Nightwing: Ha, ha...Yeah...that's it. Or denial. Him not wanting to have any semblance of a normal life be destroyed to denies it desperately. Tim: Look Danny, there's something you gotta know *pulls out red robin suit for proof* Danny: Oh, cool cosplay! looks almost like the real thing. Tim: What? No, it's- Danny: *grabs Tim by the shirt* It's not the real thing because this is a totally normal family, right? This totally normal family who has no deep dark secrets, who has no portal to the afterlife in the basement, right? Tim: eh, right.
2 things I've found very helpful as an uneducated american when I'm working on characters who're from countries I'm not very familiar with:
1. Look up "[country] online art gallery". This is great for getting ideas of how to draw/stylize people of that ethnicity without unknowingly dipping into racist stereotypes. Landscape art, particularly of streets, is also great for getting a feel of the country that doesn't have the "impoverished undeveloped/untouched simple living" bias you get a lot of when you're looking at pages aimed more at north american/british tourists
2. Go to that country on google maps, pick a spot in some random town/city, and just wander around in google street view. This part is also for getting the vibe of what the country is like visually, and in addition you're going to see way better examples of what the average person living there looks like (peoples faces are usually blurred in streetview, but often visible in photospheres), and typical clothing, than searching "[country] people"
Also, the firefox extension "TWP translate web pages" translates web pages in real time, directly on the site, no hassle. If you use that, Google translate to change your search query into the country's primary language, and change your search region (option right under the search bar in duckduckgo, don't remember how to in google sorry) you can search for and read pages that are actually from that country. I use that all the time when I want to research more specific things.
Very helpful things to add to your other research
It was either a fic or the clock app that established that Wayne enterprises pays people to return them
Do you think after a battle when Bruce has to collect all the Batarangs he threw he feels embarrassed like how you feel chasing after a ping pong ball?
CREATURE HEAD ANGLE REFS !!
the misinterpretation of a lonely place of dying by later retellings drives me nuts because ‘tim finds out who batman is’ is nearly not as much of a big deal as ‘tim doesnt want to be robin’ in the actual origin and it pretty much sums up whats wrong with modern tim drake. ALPOD is a tragic story of a twelve year old boy who had everything and willingly gave it up for a greater good. he is not like dick and jason who became robin to escape tragedy nor bruce who had everything and then lost it. robin was nothing but a curse he accepted to bear and he did so because of his selflessness. that selflessness is his driving rod, his smarts and physical talent are only the tools he uses to achieve his goals. he is not ‘the smart one’, he is a sacrificial lamb for a cause he became an unwilling spectator of. a twelve year old boy thought ‘people need saving, its that simple’ and put on the clothes a dying kid not much older than him wore because of nothing more than his selflessness and everyone he loved paid the price for it. he paid an even greater price for it.
I like to think it's still Jason who died in the snyderverse. Dick still moved to Blüdhaven where Tim finds him and does his whole 'Batman needs a Robin'-speech after the events of Batman vs Superman. Then, in the aftermath when they head to Gotham to confront Bruce about it, Red Hood shows up and it seems Bruce is too busy with trying to build up the Justice League and guilt-tripping himself about Superman to notice. But Dick and Tim do. So they go to confront Red Hood alone only to find out it's actually Jason.
Somehow they manage to convince Jason to stop his crusade and come with them to Blüd, but that obviously means they can't go and talk to Bruce. That would be a disaster at the moment. No, Jason needs more time before they can even think about that. So it seems like Dick and Jason will just have to train Tim themselves, after all.
Damian shows up a few weeks later, absolutely livid that Jason didn't think to take him with him when he left (I love the idea of them meeting in the league and forming a brotherly bond). Jason explains who Dami is and now talking to Bruce is suddenly very necessary again.
Before they can, however, the events of Justice League happen and now they've got their hands full fighting off parademons in Gotham and Blüd. Though once the fight is over they head to the lake house immediately where Alfred breaks down crying upon seeing them, embracing all of them (including Tim and Damian because he's just as bad as Bruce when it comes to kids; they're his now).
Fast forward a couple of months and Batman has missed several League meetings in a row and no one can seem to reach him so the JL makes the executive decision to go and investigate.
When they enter the batcave they're greeted by the Spice Girls playing loudly over the speaker system, Dick and Jason are sparring in the corner (wearing Wonder Woman and Superman merch respectively) while Tim and Bruce are sitting at the batcomputer doing who knows what and Damian is sitting in the floor, happily playing with his new puppy.
Damian is the first to notice the intruders. All hell breaks loose and Bruce has to keep his son from trying to murder his allies (including his future stepdad).
That's how the Justice League meets the Batfam in the Snyderverse. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Yea
EDS/hyper mobile Nightwing where Dick wears those body braid things but in blue and instead of finger stripes it’s finger splints. Not only is that very hot of him, but it makes sense since he comes from a family of flexible people and transfers to an environment where people try to break him. I just think it makes sense and would also make for a sick ass costume
bug haters will be like "thanks i hate it" and then show you a picture of the cutest animal you've ever seen
I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh…hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please don’t break my heart”. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Mean™️????
A concept: your typical ragtag team of misfit supers, but they all follow different realities/logics as their powers.
One of them has standard anime/magical girl abilities, one can utilize cartoon logic to their advantage, one of them has near omniscience thanks to their ability to break the fourth wall, and another one has protagonist luck that ensures they always win.
No but you know how Dick still randomly does handstands as an adult? I feel like that's something Bruce must be incredibly fond of. Dick is grown up in most ways, but in that way, he's still the kid Bruce remembers.
