My brain has been extra crispy lately thanks to, well, stuff, but work on both Role to Play and Your Touch is continuing. I'll probably post chapter 29 sometime in the next week-ish? No idea about RTP Part 3 yet, haven't put as much work into that as I'd like (I feel awkward about working on an explicit fic around friends, go figure), but I sunk 628 words into it the other night. Hey y’all! So I don’t talk about where I work on fandom socials because I don’t want to dox myself or whatever but fun fact: I am a scientist in the Office of Research and Development at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency! I am speaking now as a private citizen and not as an EPA representative. An article from the NYT came out yesterday saying that the reduction in force plan for the EPA includes a dissolution of my office, which, to be clear, is the entire scientific research arm and the largest office of the agency. I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that would significantly hinder the EPA’s mission of protecting human health and the environment.

It’s not just the EPA: the unelected and not congressionally approved leader (Elon Musk) of the unofficial department that was not established by Congress (DOGE) is (illegally) coming after ALL federal services just so their billionaire friends can get richer. I know a lot of you are not U.S. Americans, so you can’t do anything, but for those of you who are: please do something, whether it’s calling or writing your reps, showing at a protest, or just talking to your family (talk to your family about Social Security, Medicare, and the VA particularly).

This is about the constitution (which has been violated an absurd amount of times in the last two months), it is about YOUR public services, it is about YOUR worker’s rights and civil rights, and it is, frankly, about the economy, which is already taking a hit.

Every little thing that you do counts 🙏🏼 AND if you do something I WILL FULFILL AN ART REQUEST FOR YOU!!! I have never done this before, so patience please 💖💖💖 but I will do my best and I look forward to hearing about your action!!! DM me with your political action after you have done it and your request (I may negotiate based on my skill level 😅).

I love these so much. I'm having a powerful temptation to try writing a take on the series that revolves around the Boiling Isles having a wholly unique culture that Belos has been subverting across the centuries, gradually twisting myths and legends around death and transformation into ones of guilt and inescapable sin. "Bloody paint on the hands, feet, and mouth? When we were primordial beasts, we sustained ourselves with the red hunt, tearing our prey apart and glorifying ourselves in their slaughter. Oh, we don't do that sort of thing these days. Not often, anyway." "Abomination paint under the eyes? That symbolizes the death and decay from which we grew, and we memorialize it in tears because our lifegiver could only create us through the ultimate sacrifice. Our art pays homage to the Titan, without whose death we literally would not exist." And then along comes Belos, insisting that this is a perversion meant to absolve witches of the true horror of their existence, not as their god's children, but parasites whose sustained existence only indicts them for crimes against their maker. It would add a new dimension to the coven system, not just as a "purer" form of magic, but one allegedly intended to reconcile the unworthy wretches of the world to their creator.
