When I explain cultural misappropriation to children, I use the example of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

It’s effective because especially for children, who don’t have enough historical context to understand much of the concept, you can still fully grasp the idea.

There was nothing wrong with Jack seeing the beauty and differences in Christmas town, it’s when he tried to take what is unique about Christmas town away from those it originally belonged to without understanding the full context of Christmas things is when everything went wrong.

When Jack tries to get the folk of Halloween town to make Christmas gifts for children, etc., children understand that the Halloween town folk do not have the full context for the objects they are making, and they are able to see that the direct repercussions and consequences are very harmful.

I want to write a fic where Lilo goes to college and her roommate is Boo from Monsters Inc. Boo is the first person to think Stitch is adorable and cuddly, and Lilo is the first person not to act like “Mike Wazowski” was a weird name for a goldfish. They get on like a house on fire which is kind of bad for Nani’s blood pressure.

But then one night they wake up in the middle of the night because something is in their closet. And the door starts to creak open so Stitch tackles whoever (whatever) is in there. They fall back into the closet, the door slams shut… and when Lilo runs over and opens it there’s nothing but an empty closet.

Then Boo tells Lilo all about this weird thing that happened to her when she was a kid, and how no one ever believed her but she knows it was real.

And cue Lilo and Boo busting into the Monster world to rescue Stitch and wreaking mad havoc in the process.

I Feel Like Getting That Letter From Varric Would Be The Last Push Merrill Needs To Get Her Eluvian Working

I feel like getting that letter from Varric would be the last push Merrill needs to get her Eluvian working again.  Then she’d march into Skyhold, grab both Varric and the Inquisitor by the ear and drag them back into the Fade to rescue her girlfriend.

This Is A Summary Of College Only Using Two Pictures; Expensive As Hell.
This Is A Summary Of College Only Using Two Pictures; Expensive As Hell.

This is a summary of college only using two pictures; expensive as hell.

That’s my Sociology “book”. In fact what it is is a piece of paper with codes written on it to allow me to access an electronic version of a book. I was told by my professor that I could not buy any other paperback version, or use another code, so I was left with no option other than buying a piece of paper for over $200. Best part about all this is my professor wrote the books; there’s something hilariously sadistic about that. So I pretty much doled out $200 for a current edition of an online textbook that is no different than an older, paperback edition of the same book for $5; yeah, I checked. My mistake for listening to my professor.

This is why we download.

What Is The Deep Web?

What is the Deep Web?

Also called the hidden web and deepnet, the deep web is where search engines have not indexed the information, and so “invisible” to the mainstream public.

Searching on the Internet today can be compared to dragging a net across the surface of the ocean. While a great deal may be caught in the net, there is still a wealth of information that is deep, and therefore, missed. The reason is simple: Most of the Web’s information is buried far down on dynamically generated sites, and standard search engines never find it.

Public information on the deep Web is currently 400 to 550 times larger than the commonly defined World Wide Web. The deep Web contains 7,500 terabytes of information compared to 19 terabytes of information in the surface Web. Deep Web sites tend to be narrower, with deeper content, than conventional surface sites. More than half of the deep Web content resides in topic-specific databases. Journalists in heavily censored countries use the deep web to communicate and exchange information.

What lies beneath the surface is a who’s who of hackers, scientists, drug dealers, astronomers, assassins, physicists, revolutionaries, Government officials, Police, Feds, terrorists, perverts, data miners, kidnappers, sociologists, etc. As you can tell, the party goes across the entire moral spectrum.
