Ascending Ascension
The ascending sign is our experience of individual awareness….just knowing that “I” exists… … it is a key in human interaction and social activity. without other people there to witness, the ascending-descending axis vanishes. the ascending sign can express most purely through our presentation. some people’s rising signs are so evident in their features. this is where you can get a real visual of the signs at play through the ascendant. the ascendant sign indicates the chart’s ruler through the sign’s ruling planet.
Aries rising: Chart Ruler: Mars Dynamism, proactive essence, challenger, intuitive. Pushes personal boundaries in search of experience
Taurus rising Chart Ruler: Venus Socialite, beauty, appreciation of art, tender, indulgent. Uses resources and beauty as an extension of personal identity
Gemini rising Chart Ruler: Mercury Clever, quicksilver, talkative, mysterious, youthful. Zig-zagging through multiplications of duality and resolution, and to reconcile these oppositions through communication
Cancer rising Chart Ruler: Moon Harmonic, hidden, receptive, habitual, indulgent. Identity expression drawing from waters of ancestors, emotions, and memories
Leo rising Chart Ruler: Sun Effervescent, commanding, entitled, vital, showy. Enveloping material, heart, spiritual, and emotional into a gallery
Virgo rising Chart Ruler: Mercury Reactive, intelligent, technical, youthful. Synthesising mind with material, the needs of the self with other
Libra rising Chart Ruler: Venus Sociable, amicable, reflective, transparent, grace. Playing with other personalities gives sparkle to the marble identity, a synthesis of social experiences, understanding ‘i’ to become ‘us’

If Mars is in dignity, or receives multiple aspects, or via elevated chart position, Mars is the chart ruler. The same application for Pluto) Mars: Controlling, passionate, desiring, seductive Pluto: Hypnotic, mysterious, compulsive, surveilling Potent desires surface through the immediate expression, an erotic display of continual transformation, conflict, and obsession

Capricorn rising Chart Ruler: Saturn Security conscious, guilty, reticent, wise, sad. Attempting to escape the parent’s moulding the individual summons talent, material, and applicable creative resource
Aquarius rising Chart Ruler: Saturn/Uranus (depends on strength of aspects, sign, and house position. If Uranus is in dignity, or receives multiple aspects, or via elevated chart position, Uranus is the chart ruler. The same application for Saturn) Saturn: Guarded, intelligent, isolated, different, moody Uranus: Utopian, reckless, obscure, ingenious, intuitive Identification with higher forces and reflection of the self in everything

If Jupiter is in dignity, or receives multiple aspects, or via elevated chart position, Jupiter is the chart ruler. The same application for Neptune) Jupiter: Charitable, spiritual, generous, devoted, searching Neptune: Mystical, confused, tranquilized, sufferer Sensitivity and vagueness diffuses like melting mist

I think some people are just inexplicably bonded. Drawn by forces beyond their own comprehension, they have no choice but to gravitate toward one another. Destined by fate to keep crossing paths until they finally get it right.

Hvitserk x OC, Ivar x OC Warnings: none in this chapter. There will be smut in future chapters. A/N: Look at me finally finding the confidence to write my first Vikings series! I still feel very new to the fandom so hopefully, this is good for my first crack at it.
Nala was brought to Kattegatt as a slave from Africa years ago by Bjorn Ironside’s fleet of men. She was among many other girls, but she was the only one who didn’t cry. Her father had made her promise not to before one of the heathen men stab him through the heart with their sword and dragged her away from his lifeless body.
She was handpicked by Queen Aslaug to be her personal handmaiden and to serve her four sons. She stayed silent as she completed her tasks, and managed to always keep a straight face when her youngest son, Ivar, would grope her from time to time.
Nala had picked up on a few strange things on her first few weeks serving the queen and her sons. She noticed that a girl named Margrethe would be in the company of either the oldest Ubbe or the second oldest Hvitserk. Nala knew that she was married to Ubbe, but found it somewhat strange that he shared his wife with his own brother. She’d never forget how she caught the blonde in an intimate position with Hvitserk as she washed clothes in the river. She remembers the wave of disgust that washed over her as she gathered everything to take her tasks elsewhere when she stumbled upon Ivar not too far away spying on the two.

The First Quadrant: Houses 1-3. The first three houses of the birth chart represent your understanding, and awareness, of yourself. They lay down the foundation for your life journey.
The First House: “This is Who I Am.”
The First House, which marks our Rising, or Ascendant, arouses our cognizance of the self. The idea that we are a unique being with our own skills and talents, though probably not developed yet, becomes solid. Here, we do not acknowlege others, let alone consider what characteristics they have. We are wholly our own.
The Second House: “This is Who I Am and Why I Matter.”
The Second House broadens our awareness ever so slightly. We finally begin to see beyond ourselves, to the things (not yet the people) around us. We decide that we can give worth to the “self” by staking claim to what is “ours.” Our priority shifts from self-definition, though still salient, to self-preservation.
The Third House: “This Is Who I Am to My Surroundings.”
The Third House helps us make the transition from “self-centered” to “self-assertive.” We are not yet ready to understand others, but we begin to acknowledge a relationship. Somehow, we find that we can co-exist with things that are not of ourselves or owned by ourselves.
●Stelliums or heavy placements in the First Quadrant : If there is an overriding amount of planets in the first quadrant, the chart holder may experience identity issues. They may spend and overwhelming amount of time seeking personal validation.
●Low planetary activity in the First Quadrant: This may lead to an individual feeling lost in their purpose. Self-consciousness and inferiorities may surface regularly.
Planets that will have a positive effect in the First Quadrant:
•The Sun- Leads to a strong sense of self
•Mercury - Lends strong verbal skills, an ability to express oneself.
•Venus- Adds beauty.
