Skywing Gladiator Helmet concepts: Part 1
Part 2 ⬅️ more designs
To me, the Skywing arena was the most memorable parts of the first book, and I liked the idea of Scarlet having consistent champions outside of prisoners, like Peril, that were used as actual fighters. Similar to the Roman colosseum’s style of fighting.
With how extravagant Scarlet’s punishments, hatching day, etc. are described, (she loves her bloody entertainment & fan fair). There’s no way she’d allow for her champions to go undecorated in the arena. Additionally, Skywings are implied to be the most battle experienced tribe, so they should have armor that reflects this sentiment.
Aside from the lore drop, I absolutely love rendering metal & armor, this was just an excuse for me to do that lol. It’s very interesting trying to fit helmets to dragon anatomy opposed to human anatomy. Gotta accommodate for horns, ears, and the snout. Really cool learning how to work around it!

And done, I know you first meet her in greenpath, but like you also see her in the city, so it’s fiiine
Here’s the version without the text again, I loved drawing her needle the reflections felt satisfying lol.
I forgot to add my signature the first time around lol

drew hallownest's crown in its prime, before any stray wyrms decided to move in and create some random kingdom :3
surely the moths who built this fine statue would never turn their backs upon the being it represents, causing it to be forgotten and grow spiteful, seeding death and sickness in the interest of revenge!!
...
ANYWAYS, i know it's not super complex, but i'm pretty happy with it. been trying to figure out how to draw rock/stone and clouds in a sketchier/looser style, so here's my attempt at that, if anyone has some tips/tricks for that it'd be super greatly appreciated!! :3
also felt like i'd been drawing a lot of super gloomy dark environments and was kinda stuck in a rut/art blocked, so i wanted to step outside my comfort zone :)
seriously though imagine some beautiful sunny day with multicoloured clouds and sunbeams shining down through the crystal peaks, refracting off crystals and stuff.... i'd love to see that in-game somehow dude
I steal (like an artist), so I;d recommend you change ur locks, chum. (Most of this isn’t mine, if you didn’t already get that impression). If something isn't credited, that's because this is an art reference blog.
