Well, it's a rubbish night, but I hope everyone's doing ok and massive hugs to anyone that wants one.

At this point I just refuse to believe Charles is not inlove with Edwin.

Like besides the fact he looks at him like he's the sun and stars and everything in the universe and all of that; it's so in character for Charles to fall for the first boy that ever showed him kindness. The first person that was ever nice to him, made him feel safe, cared for him as he died. After the way they met?? Of course Charles will bloody fall for Edwin, how couldn't he?

That's so in character of him.

After so many months, I have finally finished another Dead Boy Detectives fic!!!

Summary:

From a very young age, Edwin knew he was different.

People were never easy for him. He was ‘sensitive’. Intense. Weirdly obsessed. It didn't help that his heart had always started racing around a particular boy from his fencing class.

The kids at St. Hilarion had never let him forget how different he was. They made it their mission to turn his life into a living hell for years- *before* they then sent him to actual hell.

No matter what he did, his mother always seemed to despise him.

He tried, he tried so hard to push through everything. He never asked to be different. But nothing ever worked.

One thing was abundantly clear: something was entirely wrong about Edwin Payne.

A glance at Edwin’s growing up in the Edwardian era, his life, death, and all the rest.

Edwin Payne always knew he was different, he was a disaster and a failure. Only a matter of time before Charles will realise and leave. He enters a panic attack thinking about his past.

Charles, however, thinks differently, and is intent on having none of that self hate his boyfriend seems to insist on.

Edwin is sad. Charles hugs him really really tight to let him know he is loved and okay.

I think the Cat King is at least part Fey?

The fey canonically exists in the Sandman Universe.

Their lore wasn't deeply explored in "The Dreaming: Waking Hours" where a major part of the plot took place in their realm, but they did seem to follow the traditional versions and go by the same rules.

Let's examine this:

Magical tricksters.

Blur the lines between good and evil, morally grey beings.

Time passes differently on realms of the fey.

Luck of understanding of boundaries. They'll get involved in your drama, they'll push you and invade your privacy.

Able to shift their appearance, wear disguise. The fey were shown to do that in the comics.

Known to be very liberated about sexualities. Fruity as fuck.

Don't obey the usual gender norms (CK wears a skirt and is very feminine).

Truth related powers in some versions???

Weakness to iron. (CK was beaten to death with an iron bar).

Extremely long life but they can die.

(Also go by title name/nicknames rather than more usual names? Because real names holds different weight).

(Also it would made hella sense for Desire to sleep with a Fey in my eyes but that's just me and my hc).

Just think about it.

I know most of the DBDA fandom probably thinks at paineland at the trope of "x fell first, xx fell harder" is Edwin falling first and Charles now falling harder; because Edwin was obviously shown first to express his feelings.

But consider this-

Charles falling in love with Edwin slowly a little more every day, falling a bit deeper for him every day they spent side by side.

And at some point later- Edwin is crushing hard. Realizing "oh shit, I love him-" and falling hard in a chaotic storm of feeling he doesn't know how to deal with, he's a complete mess.

Idk, I personally prefer the second version more but both options can be great interpretations of their dynamic.

Spirit World going viral on twitter with the comic panels of Constantine respecting his non binary friend's pronouns just confirmed to me that most of the people who claim to love the character know nothing about him. "John Constantine has gone woke", a lot of people say.

You mean, the Constantine who kicked the shit out of Nazis on his early comics? The one reminding you how much he hated Margaret Thatcher? The one who was teased as a queer character since his creation in the 80s and was confirmed as bisexual in the 90s? The one who lost gay friends during the aids crisis and the one who despises cops? The former punk who has voted the Labour Party all his life?

You mean, are you surprised THAT character is "woke" now? If you are disappointed, that's on you.
