Welcome to Divergence! This has been my biggest wip yet and I'm so excited to finally be posting it! This fic, which has already been drafted in its entirety, is the first of three fics of similar length that I have planned. Originally, it was outlined as one massive fic, but I chose to break it up for my own sanity.

Before we jump in, here are some things you can expect from the series (in a really small nutshell):

Overall themes/storylines - Fivesoka (emphasis on the “slow burn”), PTSD (healing is not linear!), accelerated aging cure, local crime

Part 1 - Beginning on Coruscant, but most of the fic is domestic life stuff

Part 2 - Kix fix-it (this is my favorite part out of the three)

Part 3 - Order 66 and more clones joining them

There will also be a Fives & Echo reunion, but I won’t say which part that’s in! 😉

I’m going to try to post Chapter 2 within the next few days. I meant to post it tonight, but I’m so tired. After that, it’ll be one chapter a week.

solavellan + being weird

I've heard it said that the appeal of the Solas romance is that he's a god who thinks Lavellan is a special princess. But this is clearly a misunderstanding, because the whole point of Solas is that he is not a god. He's ultimately just a weird nerd and I do not personally think he would fall in love with someone because they're a special princess. He falls in love with Lavellan because she's also fucking weird in ways that are partly similar to and partly complementary to his own brand of weird. 

It makes me think of the quote commonly misattributed to Dr Seuss about finding someone whose weirdness is compatible with your own. Solas calls Lavellan 'unique,' and yes, she is; but not because she's uniquely special and perfect but because her weirdness happens to be particularly compatible with his weirdness, and he's experiencing for the first time the astonishing bliss of finding someone who you really click with after a lifetime of never fitting in anywhere.

They’re, like, 6 in this one or something, so they’re all ROUND BOIS. I headcanon that Wrecker decorates Lula more on his own in the future

Canon x OC Fanfic Writers are criminally underappreciated.

I refuse to believe that so many amazing stories with incredibly crafted original characters have barely any interaction, terribly lacking in comparison to x reader fics. I love a good x reader fic, smut or not, but so often I see authors on here whose x reader stories get traction while their larger, fleshed-out canon x oc stories aren't read or liked, much less reblogged or interacted with. It's sad to think that these writers spend so much time working on these stories because they are so complex. Crafting characters and full storylines to span tens of thousands of words and multiple chapters...they're out there writing novels and their work so often gets ignored because it's not a quick read and/or the reader won't explicitly see themselves reflected in the story. I always stand behind x reader fanfiction and love me some great x reader smut.

But can we please stop to think that there is so much more to reading fanfiction? With some of these stories, you could get a whole retelling of your favorite show with another character in the board to change the game. You could get parts of your favorite show you'd never see on screen, but they're being brought to life by a writer who loves it so much they're willing to pour their heart out into a story. Can we please stop for a moment and think of how magical these stories are?

Please, go read some Canon x OC fanfiction. Go give these stories love. The stories and their writers deserve all the love. Reblog their stories. Engage. Comment. Support the writers blessing our fandom with brilliant work.
