RTVS PALESTINE FUNDRAISER 2, April 11th - 13th

RTVS PALESTINE FUNDRAISER 2, April 11th - 13th

Beginning Friday the 11th, RTVS will be holding another 3-day weekend fundraising event for the people of Palestine.

It is a tragedy that Palestine is still enduring the same nightmarish conditions that they were this time last year. There has been little to no improvement in things as Israel continues to break ceasefires and block incoming aid as they try and continue their genocide. We would like to once again rally our community and as many others as we can reach to give what support we are able to to Palestine's people.

Like last year, the event will not be a traditional stream fundraiser, rather than pointing people at one donation point, we will be suggesting a number of different recipients for support. However, this year may be organized slightly differently than the way we did it last time; more information regarding that will be shared in the next few days once we confirm our plan. Overall, it's the same idea: all donations to Palestinians and aid groups will be tallied into our grand total for the event.

The all-day, all-weekend streaming event will once again feature a rotation of hosts from Radio TV Solutions putting on all kinds of events. Themed segments, classic segments, crazy gameshow-type beats, chill segments, gaming w/ Da Whole Crew and MORE await you. The event will be hosted at http://stream.rtvsfundraiser.live/. Mark your calendars, tell your friends, and GET READY!

a really great organization that i don't see any posts about here is HEAL palestine. it was founded by steve sosebee, who was a founding president of the PCRF before leaving in late 2023 to refocus his efforts on heal palestine to better meet the needs of palestinians impacted by the genocide. the organization provides palestinians in gaza with food, clean water, shelters, "makeshift classrooms," and even medical evacuation for some children when it's possible--their services are pretty wide.

you can donate here if you would like to send a tax-deductible donation to an organization. also, i don't think any evacuations are possible right now, but if you're in the united states and you'd like to welcome medically evacuated children in the future, i highly recommend signing up for their newsletter or following them on social media so you can stay updated in case any children evacuated by HEAL come to your area for treatment. welcoming these kids at the airport is a really moving way to provide them with moral support, entirely for free.

Old colourful tile with the enamel painting of a woman using two crutches, and holding her right foot up. She's wearing working class 18th century clothes: a long yellow skirt, a white apron, an ocre blouse with her sleeves rolled up to her elbows, and a white handkerchief around her head, covering all her hair except for her bangs.
Colourful tile with a representation of a man wearing 18th-century clothes and hat, using a cane with his left arm and a wooden leg under his bent knee on his right leg. The lower half of his right leg and his right foot are resting on top of the wooden leg, not touching the floor.
Colourful tile with a representation of a man wearing 18th-century clothes with a wooden leg starting on his left knee, and resting his right arm on a cane. His right arm ends at his elbow.
Colourful tile with a representation of a man wearing late 18th century clothes and holding a cane. He doesn't have a hand in his right arm, and below his left leg starts a prosthetic leg and foot.
Colourful tile with a representation of a man wearing a cape, sitting down with his legs held together at his front. It's unclear where he is sitting, but between him and the ground there seems to be two round shapes, similar to wheels.

17th- and 18th-century tiles decorated with representations of disabled people. From Barcelona, Catalonia. Museu d'Histรฒria de Barcelona: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

This tiles are "rajoles d'ofici" (meaning "job tiles" in Catalan language), a typical kind of decorated tiles that were very common in Catalonia between the 16th and 19th centuries, and which have become one of the most iconic examples of Catalan folk art. "Job tiles" are called this way because very often they represented people working, but they also represent people taking part in festivities, hobbies, or many other activities from daily life, as well as animals and workplaces. Thousands of these tiles have been preserved, and thanks to them we can see snippets of life a few centuries ago. (You can find more information and examples of these tiles in this previous post.)
