txt ☆ˎˊ˗ no doubt this isnt just analog horror and can be about horror as a Whole. but its still upsetting to see and go so widely uncriticized in analog horror. how much of it is reliant on being afraid of the Other and how that manifests in the body the 'normal' body threatened by the existence and predation of the other body that is dark and warped idk. sometimes i see Analog Horror Scary Face and get weirded out because of how reliant it is in putting the figure in shadow & making the figures overall darker. or the emphasis on how 'wrong' the body looks/behaves/moves distortion is such an integral part of analog horror. and these traits are treated as the distortion of the normative white & able body rather than focusing on the distortion of the medium itself. * to clarify: most of the time the distortion of bodies isnt really parallel to actual disability and i dont want to make that comparison. bc thatd be faux pas on my part. My Point Is that i have a problem of creating fears around the body that looks & moves 'wrong' the problem is that the normative body is compared to the 'other' body. and this comparison is meant to make us fear the idea of the 'other' body preying on the normative one.
