Weatherman discovers his monitor has a touch screen
“Joe, I am thinking about death,” Cleo declares, hanging from the teeth of her snake cavern.
“…okay,” Joe says, slowly. He’s still looking through her chests for spare birch for some reason. She’s letting him. She really, really doesn’t need birch.
“Well, I mean, I thought you should know,” she says.
“I don’t mean to put you out by not bein’ suitably dramatic, but you think about death a lot,” Joe says reasonably.
“What? You’re good to talk about it to, what with you also being dead.”
“Am I truly?” Joe says. “I may be a ghost, and also transparent until each sunrise, but does that make me dead when I still speak? When I still dream, and change the people around me, and act?” He picks up a skeleton head from the chest and frowns. “Cleo, did you mean to lose this?”
“See, that’s what I mean—no, give it.” She holds out her hand, and Joe hands over the skull.
“Oh, good. Because if I held this too long talkin’ about mortality, someone might think it’s a bit too on the nose.”
Cleo snorts. “Alas, poor Cleo. I knew her, Joe.”
They’re both companionably silent for a bit.
“Any reason?” Joe says, after seemingly giving up on finding the birch he’d been looking for.
“For the skull? Joe, did you hit your head?”
“No, for talkin’ about death again, and why I don’t think we are.”
“Oh,” Cleo says. “Grian’s doing that game of his again, and I’m playing.”
“Oh! Good luck, have fun, as the kids and gamers say.”
“Thanks Joe. Appreciated.”
“No problem!” He turns to her and beams and she laughs.
“And you basically answered it anyway. What I’d give for everyone else to see it the way you do. We do, I guess. Death, I mean.”
“One day, they will!” Joe says brightly.
“Oh, that was ominous. I’m jealous.”
“With a little luck and also, ideally, some birch logs, you can be exactly as ominous as I am. Just three easy payments of I need those logs so badly Cleo why did you give me false hope—”
Cleo laughs.
There is something about the idea of sharing a health bar - sharing pain - that I can't stop thinking about. Because obviously, there's the big things that they share, like deaths, or near death experiences, or attacks, but there's also the mundane, mild occurences of pain too.
Grian can feel the strike of an axe that hits Scar way too hard, but he can also feel the way Scar's muscles ache when he overexerts himself.
Bdubs can feel it when a skeleton gets a lucky shot past Impulse's shield, but he can also feel the thrum of Impulse's headache when the others keep blowing those horns.
Cleo can feel the fire eating away at Martyn when he abandons her for the Nether, but she can also feel it when he accidentally stubs his toe when stepping out of the portal.
Ren can feel the burn of poison through BigB's veins, but he can also feel the sparks that bite his skin when he stokes the flames in the furnace.
Scott can feel it when Pearl is sharply headbutted by a charging hoglin, but he can also feel the dig of her nails when she hugs herself, muted by her sleeves.
Joel can feel himself choking when Etho starts drowning, but he can also feel the gentle hunger pangs when Etho forgets to eat, even though Joel himself had just eaten.
Jimmy can feel the flash of heat from a creeper explosion when Tango dies and takes him with him, but he can also feel the sharp pecks at Tango's hand when he goes to feed the chickens.
They know when their other is exhausted, because they can feel the sting in their eyes. They know when their other is building, because they can feel the pinch of splinters. They know when their other is sewing, because they can feel the prick of the needle along their fingertips.
Even if they aren't physically with their soulmate, they are never alone, because they can feel their presence through their day-to-day activities. Some are more present than others, clumsy as they are, but none can ever truly be ignored. It's to be expected - the whole concept of soulmates is that they are intrinsically tied, after all - but they really are two halves of one whole.
They don't just share their lives, they share a life, and their skin, and their bones, and their breaths, and their hearts, even if they deny it. They know their soulmate deeper than anything else, they know without words how they are on a physical level and can care for them without asking, because their pain is shared.
And that is beautiful, and fascinating, and surreal, and terrifying.
Heathers was my favorite musical for quite a while and while it’s not at the very top of my list anymore, I amassed an extensive knowledge of animatics for the show. So. Masterlist. Here we go:
Our Love Is God by MissyAsylum: The symbolism in this piece blows me away every time. It’s the only animatic I’ve found for this song that captures the horror of it. Chilling.
Candy Store by szin: This is an amazingly polished, fluid animatic with a great artstyle. The way szin draws the Heathers is perfection.
I Am Damaged by HLKPro: Absolutely heartbreaking rendition of this song, animated perfectly to the beats.
Meant to be Yours by Anidoodles: Great artstyle, fantastic composition and a beautiful range of emotion for JD. The attention to detail really drives this one home.
Meant to be Yours by HLKPro: This version is done with some non-canon character designs, but the artstyle and emotion of this piece make it worth checking out.
Freeze Your Brain by MissyAsylum: Vivid, active rendition of this song. Really makes you hurt for JD (plus, the ending is…!!)
Heathers as Vines by oliviamarlyce: Excellent. Accurate. True beauty.
Heathers as Vines 2 by oliviamarlyce: See above.
Heathers as Vines 3 by oliviamarlyce: See above.
JD as John Mulaney by Anidoodles: Go. Watch it. Experience 48 seconds of joy.
i'm so happy that annabeth is black because the whole "ppl don't take me seriously cause i'm blonde" bs? never made sense. but if that becomes "people don't respect me because i'm a black woman"... dude that HITS. people never respect me because of my race. i always have to prove myself in other ways. this could mean so much if it's pulled off right
The evacuation prep poster is done! This poster is designed primarily with wildfires in mind, but the tips can apply to preparing for any much any disaster.

Evacuation Prep:
As the world changes, it is important to be prepared to safely and efficiently evacuate your home, potentially with little or no warning. Preparing ahead of time can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and help you evacuate safely if the time comes.
Red Level (No Warning): People | Pets | Keys. Human life matters most. If you can't rescue your pets, let them out to give them their best chance. If evacuating by car, don't forget your keys.
Orange Level (Less Than an Hour): Crucial Meds | Important Papers | Money | Paper Map | Pet Vaccination Records. Crucial meds and medical equipment. Papers including passports, birth certificates, medical records, etc.. Multiple forms of payment. Paper map with marked evac routes in case of signal loss. Phone. Most evac centers require vaccine records for pets to be allowed in.
Yellow Level (More Than an Hour): Photos | Hard Drives | Computers | Chargers | Irreplaceable Items | OTC Meds | Pet Supplies | Pet Food | Clothes | Weather Gear. Family photos. Hard drives and computers. Make digital backups ahead of time. Charging cords. Irreplaceable items such as collectibles and mementos. Over the counter medical supplies such as Aspirin and tampons. Pet supplies such as bowls, crates, toys, and litter. Pet food and treats. Clothes. If you are running out of time grab your laundry basket. Weather gear if needed.
Green Level (General Preparedness): Food | Water | Radio | N95 Masks | Multitool | Power Pack | Gas | Stove + Fuel | Flashlight | Toiletries | Emergency Contact Info | Bedding | First Aid | Can Opener. Easy prep, shelf-stable food. Water. Battery powered/rechargeable NOAA weather radio. N95 masks for smoke. A multitool. Rechargeable power pack for phones. Keep your car at least partially fueled at all times. Portable stove and fuel for cooking food without power. Flashlight and spare batteries. Toiletries including hair products, toothbrush and paste, etc.. Emergency contact info for friends and loved ones. Spare pillows and blankets. Dedicated first aid kit. Can opener.
Save yourself time and stress by preparing an evacuation bag ahead of time and keep it in an easy to access place. At the end of every season rotate out the perishable items within such as food, water, and medications. The more you can keep in the bag, the more time you'll have to grab everything else. Remember, it is okay if you can't do everything. Some preparation is better than no preparation.
