A small tut on how i made my ear wings

Under the cut bcuz theres a bunch of pics and i don’t wanna clutter people’s feed

List of things you’ll need:

Foam sheet/cardboard -> for the base

feathers (i used these :

Scissors

Glue (i used hot glue)

A headband

STEP 1:

Cut out the base (i recommend using a real wing as a reference. The height of the base of the wing should be a bit bigger than the height of your ear.

i labelled them left and right, but it’s pretty useless to do that.

STEP 2:

I painted the base white because the feathers aren’t opaque, and we could see the purple of the base.

STEP 3:

It’s time to glue the long feathers on! Make sure to position them before gluing, to make sure they look ok. Make sure to to follow those handy guide!

STEP 4:

Position the second (round) layer of feathers! I fold over any feather that went over the base on the top, to keep it looking clean.

STEP 5:

Now is the time to add the fluffy feathers if you want to!

STEP 6:

Time for the back! You can either leave it white or put feathers on the back too. You can use the same template, or a reference of a real wing.

STEP 7:

Almost done! It’s time to attach them to the headband. If the one you have is made of plastic and is smooth, you should wrap some thread around it and glue it to the headband before the wings, so that the wings won’t detach

This is the pink thread i used, it’s embroidery thread. I used about the length of my arm for each side, and i then lathered it in hot glue. Not super clean, but it works.

MAKE SURE YOU VERIFY THE PLACEMENT OF THE WINGS BEFORE GLUING THEM!!!!

Next, the actual attaching. You can glue the ears directly onto the headband, or use a paperclip (this will make them move , so i don’t recommend using that).

STEP 8:

Wow! Your wings are done! Good job :3

this is one of my favorite trees and she is in a very nostalgic and comforting area for me, by my primary school and in a small cute park.

Sometimes I genuinely want to reblog some of these posts just swapping every instance of "human" for "gay" and "misanthropy" for "homophobia," because it really puts it into perspective.

"But of course I know there are good humans out there -" Saying something to the effect of "Gay people are horrible" and then following up with "but of course I know there are good gays out there <3" doesn't actually make you not homophobic.

"But humans have actually done bad things that destroy the planet -!" 90% of my mom's internalized homophobia stems from real gay people she knew who intentionally spread HIV to other people, and that being her only exposure to the queer community before, like, me. Do you think that makes it fair for someone to be homophobic? Because a small proportion of the gay community does terrible things? Like, no, right? So why do you think it's fair for you to act misanthropic because a small proportion of the human species does terrible things?

I'm a wild beast and yet I don't think I ever could separate myself from humans I love them so much. I hardly interact with other alterbeings (mostly because I can't blow my cover in such a public space) but when I see misanthropy getting spread around it breaks my heart and makes me wanna stay away more I swear there's more good humans than bad ones. I've met plenty of terrible people before but I've met even MORE nice and kind folks who make others' days better. I've had to deal some misanthropic feelings myself due to unresolved trauma in the past and realizing that humanity is not evil made my life better. I love humans even if I am not one of them

related to that reblog thing i was blabbin on. about experiences and envisage shifts.

i recently had my strongest shift in a while (although thats not saying much, mine are weak as hell) while in my friend's car. a song started, and when i realised it was a song i didn't like that much, i felt and saw two antennae flatten against my head in upset.

maybe a coincidence, but the song was numb little bug. like.. bug antennae. idek. of my known types, idk what it would be.
