AITA for throwing a party for my best friend?
I (NB, 1 trillion) recently befriended someone (M, 60+) for the first time in ages. At first I only spent time with him because I felt sorry for him (he had no other friends), but after I got to know him, I realized he was really smart and fun to talk to.
Early on in our friendship, he asked me for help with an important project he was stuck on, and I agreed right away. I dedicated several years to helping him out, doing everything from giving him an idea that would solve all his problems once completed to walking him through complex math to encouraging him to keep going when he hit roadblocks. Every single time I helped with the project for all those years, I stayed up all through the night working on it with him.
A year before things started to fall apart between us, he invited a different friend to help with the project too, who I’ll call “F.” This guy hated the local wildlife (which my friend loved and dedicated his life to studying), and my friend insisted on keeping me a secret from F out of fear that F would hate me too. My friend also insisted on delaying his own project (which he had to finish so that he could keep getting funded to do his dream job) in order to keep F happy by building side-projects that F suggested.
Throughout his time “helping” with the project, F kept criticizing my friend and his project. Eventually, F finished a secret side-project of his own, to build a weapon that erases memories, and used it on my friend multiple times without his consent. I tried to warn my friend that F wasn’t trustworthy, but my friend didn’t do anything with my advice.
When the project was almost complete, F saw me for a few seconds and threw a fit. He used some choice words to describe my friend’s life’s work, told him he should destroy his project, and then abandoned my friend.
My friend was really upset about this, and tried to get in contact with me to reassure him. Unfortunately, I was spending time with my other friends for a couple of days at the time, and didn’t get his messages. He responded by barging into my own home, running up behind me, and accusing me of giving him a bad idea for the project we worked on together for years up until that point, probably because he was doubting his own reasoning skills after finding out that his choice to let F stick around had been a bad decision. I reassured him that he is smart (he is insecure about that) and revealed that I was planning to throw him a huge surprise party too, once his project was finished. He got really angry about this, and announced that he wanted to shut down his life’s work just to stop the party from happening.
I didn’t understand why he wouldn’t want me to throw him a party, and assumed that the stress of losing a friend (even a bad friend like F) was making him not think clearly. I also got a little bit annoyed that he could ever throw all our hard work down the drain so impulsively like that. I diligently stopped him from ruining his own creation, and waited for him to get over his moment of irrational feelings so we could get back to finishing his work, but it never happened.
He kept trying to shut down the project, and ended up losing everything because of it. When he invited yet another bad influence into his home (his brother, who had been a criminal for over ten years at that point), his brother used his diabolical mind to come up with a way to use our project against him, in a way that trapped my friend in a really dangerous situation for several decades.
I looked for my friend for the entire time he was lost in a dangerous situation, but I had no luck. And right when my friend miraculously found me, his brother separated us again. But there was a silver lining to this situation: my friend’s brother accidentally created a way for me to finally reunite with my friend and throw him the surprise party I had been planning.
Random Near headcanon that I can’t stop thinking about is that he likes to have tea parties and he makes his action figures all attend

hello i am also requesting icarus!near & sayu with laughter as a prompt please & thank you :)
"If you have to know," Near starts, visibly scrolling through their very first email exchange, "I thought the pun you made with my name was hilarious, but I wanted to make you earn my laugh."
"If you keep teasing me, I'm going to give you a near-death experience."
"Don't push it."
Is there a list of the books mentioned on Tokyo Ghoul? I don't know if I send the question yesterday. Well thanks. You guys are doing a great job. (´▽`)
Takatsuki Sen’s Works
Takatsuki’s debut work is titled “Dear Kafka”. It was released when Takatsuki was still a teenager and is a bestseller with 500 000 copies.
“Monochrome Rainbow” is a short story collection. Among others, the collection contains the short stories Summer Diary, Resentments and Showers at Sunset (Sayoshigure).
The seventh work is titled “The Black Goat’s Egg”. It narrates the story of a son and his mother, a cold-hearted serial killer called “The Black Goat”.The protagonist is disgusted by his mother’s depravity, but has to realize that he is developing the same cruel impulses. The book combines brutal descriptions with a delicate portrayal of the main character’s mental state. After the organ transplant, Ken Kaneki likens himself to the story’s protagonist.
Her eighth work is called “The Hanged Man’s MacGuffin”, a collection of stories about the life of death sentenced prisoners. Kaneki reads it after the “Banjou incident”.
Books Mentioned in Tokyo Ghoul
Ogura Hisashi - ”New Book of Ghoul Dismantling”
French Gourmet book
Martial arts book
Books Mentioned in Tokyo Ghoul:Re
Franz Kafka’s - ”A Crossbreed”
Actual Books Reflecting Events in Tokyo Ghoul
Kanou’s role in changing Kaneki into a artificial ghoul and his role in Kaneki’s character development mirrors the relationship between Victor Frankenstein and Frankenstein’s Monster in Mary Shelley’s book “Frankenstein”
Franz Kafka’s”The Metamorphosis”, a popular story about a man who slowly transforms into an insect. In some ways, the story sounds similar as Ken goes through the same fate as Gregor Samsa, the main character of Kafka’s work.
The Ghoul Restaurant takes inspiration for tales such as The Restaurant of Many Orders by Kenji Miyazawa, with Kaneki even drawing a comparison between himself and the protagonists of that tale.
@gothgfsandhazbinhotel and I have discussed this crackship pairing on discord and accidentally created this whole thing and I decided to post it XD
Niffty headcanon:
Niffty is desperate for a relationship and has a habit of stalking every man she comes across for a while
She’s not the sneaky kind of stalker, she’s the kind that follows her target everywhere
She’s not the smartest but she’s weirdly good at stalking men
Her victim the man that she currently fancies can never get rid of her no matter how hard he tries, she’ll keep showing up wherever he is
Until she either finds another man to stalk or she forgets about him
Luckily for the men she stalks her attention span isn’t all that great
She ends up stalking Angel Dust too at one point after she finally found out he’s a man
Eventually she sets her sights on Arackniss
Arackniss headcanon:
Arackniss is the “I’m married to my work” kinda man
He’s never dated in life or after-life
The most he’s ever had were one nightstands back when he was alive
And even then they were few and far between
He stopped having even one night stands after he died and has become even more devoted to the family business
Mostly because of deep rooted insecurity that he keeps hidden with an emotionless mask and serious personality
Meaning he secretly believes no one would truly love him and he deserves to be alone
Then Niffty started stalking him
The start of Niffty x Arackniss:
At first Arackniss thought she was doing it for the Radio Demon so he goes to the hotel to confront someone about it
Then Angel tells him Niffty is just like that with men and that she’ll stop eventually
So Arackniss goes about the rest of his days not minding her
He figures she’d lose interest fairly quickly and that he’d scare her off soon enough
After a while Arackniss is sent on a mission (to assassinate someone or do a drug deal or some other mob thing) and he just lets Niffty follow him
It gets bloody and he thought that Niffty would have been scared off by then and run off
But then
She appears and starts cleaning the blood off of him and lecturing him
Niffty: “You didn’t have to make such a mess you know, now your suit’s all bloody!”
Arackniss is shocked
And also kinda touched
Then Henroin finds out
For once he’s a good parent and actually encourages this relationship
Henroin: “About time you got a girlfriend!”
Arackniss is flustered and mortified
Niffty is ecstatic
Nonetheless Arackniss starts to get more and more comfortable with her presence
But then
While Niffty is following Arackniss some demon thought she’d be easy prey
Arackniss has come to care about her and tries to save her
Only to witness Niffty completely obliterate the demon who was more than twice her size
Arackniss is impressed
At that point Arackniss has grown to really like her and sees her stalking as a regular everyday part of his life
But he still thinks she’ll eventually lose interest
He’s secretly scared of that day
Niffty still following him around comes up into conversation with Angel Dust while visiting his brother in the hotel
Angel: “"Wait she's still bothering ya? Man usually she had moved on by now, I think she's serious about ya"
And the reason why she’s still sticking around after so long is because unlike other man, he hadn’t really tried to get rid of her or treated her rudely or like she’s a nuisance
Or like in Angel’s case, made it really clear that he just wasn’t into her
So Niffty has grown to really like him
Since he actually seems to appreciate her presence and the things she does for him
Unlike all the other men who found her creepy
Niffty x Arackniss relationship dynamic
Arackniss eventually does ask her out on a date
Their relationship as a couple starts out pretty nicely
Niffty is ecstatic to be in a relationship with a man
And Arackniss silently appreciates her company
Niffty shares a lot of things about herself to him and just anything that pops into his mind
Except for the really traumatic ones that she doesn’t wanna remember
Niffty tries to get to know him too but he’s not comfortable talking about himself
Niffty doesn’t push him
Arackniss eventually starts to feel bad about not being able to talk to her about himself
Slowly, he does begin to open up to her
Extra:
At some point during their relationship Niffty is confronted by her ex-husband
The ex-husband tries to kill her as revenge for killing him
But Niffty was too strong for him so he decides to break her emotionally
He tells her that it was her fault that he cheated on her
And that any man would cheat on her because she was so repulsive
Niffty becomes withdrawn after that
But after a while she becomes super clingy towards Arackniss
She’s desperate to make sure he doesn’t cheat on her or leave her
So she does the most for him
To make sure that he stays happy with her
Arackniss gets worried about her
But he doesn’t understand what’s going on
Eventually, when he does find out though
He hunts her ex husband down
And double kills him
Runes | Note: This is research purposes and my findings from online. Runes isn't something I would use do do proper research, It may be Nordic/Pagan/Germanic in nature so be careful.

But how are Runes used in Divination?
Used as a divination tool, rune stones are an ancient tool that features Germanic writing, and they can answer some of the questions that have been burning in your heart lately. They are a set of small pieces of stone, wood, or other materials that utilize 24 ancient alphabetic symbols, each with its own unique meaning.
The history of rune stones is a mysterious one, which only adds to the magical nature of this popular divination tool. It is known that rune stones date back to well before the Iron Age.
In fact, the English word for rune stems from the Norse word, runa, which means “secret.” Perhaps it is the secretive or mysterious nature of rune stones that allows them to open up our minds and hearts to hidden information.
Rune stones are powerful and enlightening, and like the Tarot, working with your set of runes on a regular basis will create a special bond between yourself and the all-knowing stones. Enigmatic and magical, runes will help you connect more deeply to the energy of the Universe.
While runes have been used since as far back as 150 AD, they have not always been used as tools of divination.
How to use Rune Stones:
To use your rune stones, you simply cast them: Ask your question in your mind, toss your runes onto a cloth of your choosing from either East to West or towards the Sun, and pay attention to the runes that land face-up.
Research the meaning or message behind any of the runes that have landed face-up to find the answers to your question.
The question you ask the runes is important; however, after you spend time with your runes, you’ll be able to use them without having to focus on your question. Your rune stones will begin to pick up on your energy the more you work with them. Sooner than later, you’ll be able to simply reach for your set and perform a quick reading for fast and easy guidance.
When you do feel like asking questions, it’s important to be specific about your inquiry. Vague questions – such as “Does he love me?” – will typically result in vague answers. Similar to the Tarot, asking open-ended questions will always yield better, more meaningful results from a rune casting.
Yes or no questions should be avoided to get more explanatory answers. Act like your rune set is a close friend, someone with whom you wish to share a deep conversation full of respect and understanding.
Single Stone Question:
While you can use each and every stone in a set for a reading, you may choose a single stone reading when you’re short on time or need quick guidance.
Try asking a question, reaching into your bag of runes, and picking the one that seems to be giving off the most energy. Whatever your hand is attracted to, grab that stone. Interpret the meaning of the stone to answer your question.
For less specific advice, you can also use this technique for daily guidance.
Ask yourself what energy you need to focus on for the day or what lessons you need to learn. Then, using the same technique, feel for the stone that seems to be calling your name and draw it out. Interpret that stone and try to take that wisdom or message with you throughout the day.
Three Stone Question:
A three-stone reading is more involved and takes a bit longer to interpret, but it can also give you a more insightful answer to your questions.
You can again ask your stones any question you want to know the answer to, as long as it is specific. Now, randomly gather the first three stones in your bag of runes that you’re drawn to.
Since the runic alphabet moves backwards, the first stone will go on the right-hand side, the second stone in the middle, and the third stone will be on the far left.
Rune #1: Represents the basics or the core of the situation.
Rune #2: Symbolizes the challenges associated with this situation.
Rune #3: Represents the course of action to take or the final outcome.
Five-Stone Reading:
For this rune reading, the goal is to select one rune at a time until you have five before you. The first rune is placed in the middle, and the remaining four are placed to create across the first.
The second rune should go to the left or the West of the first stone. The third stone is placed above, or North, of the center stone. The fourth stone lies to the right, or the East, of the center stone, and the fifth stone is placed at the bottom of the cross.
The three horizontal stones (2, 1, and 5) represent past, present, and future. The southern stone, rune 4, shows a challenge or a problem in the situation. And finally, rune 3 represents the help you may receive to combat those challenges.
How to read:
The runes that land in the center, face-up are symbolic of your current situation.
If runes land face-down, they may represent unseen possibilities or the future.
Runes that land on the edges of a casting likely represent people or situations that are just out of reach or may be out of your control.
Your intuition is crucial when casting – follow your heart for the most effective reading.
Rune Stone #1
The first stone symbolizes the main theme of the situation that you are currently facing. It may also indicate your current thoughts about this issue, allowing you to gain more understanding of your own experience.
If the message of this stone appears vague, don’t panic or become flustered, as the rest of the reading can help you understand more about the message of this stone. A vague answer may also represent your own lack of clarity regarding your feelings about this situation.
Rune Stone #2
This rune represents your strengths or assets when it comes to this situation. Even if you get a challenging rune stone in this position, it may lead to a favourable outcome. The rune that appears in the position tells you about fate, karma, or the highest good of the matter at hand.
It will tell you how to create the most positive karma on your journey.
Rune Stone #3
The third stone symbolizes the karma that already exists within the situation. For instance, if your question surrounds a certain relationship, the stone in this position may illuminate the karmic nature of this relationship.
It also takes a look at the situation and allows you to understand more about how you got to this point. This rune gives you more insight regarding the vibrations that accompany this situation or relationship.
Rune Stone #4
This stone is connected to the outcome. However, your interpretation of this rune is crucial in its answer. It’s important that you keep your mind open when looking into the meaning of this stone and its position.
This rune is not showing you what will happen, but rather it is trying to show you what could happen. This rune may also show you outcomes that you hadn’t previously considered in this situation. While the third stone tells you about the karma surrounding this situation, the fourth rune shows you what you can do about it.
You can also play around with this spread and the meaning of each rune’s position. You could try letting the four runes represent four days, weeks, months, or years. The stones could represent four people, four relationships, four seasons, or even four choices.
The choice is yours, as the casting of the runes is deeply connected to your spirit.
Once you’ve started your rune-casting process, it’s important that you don’t become distracted or insecure. Consistency is key for an illuminating reading. And try to remind yourself that the process will become easier and clearer the longer you work with your set of runes.
Media Notes: Neil gaimans [??? This is like the fifth time is he a witch?] Stardust the prince hired a man to find the star who threw a ton of runes into the air and when they fell for yes/no unsure answers. [Illustration of runes]
But I guess Rune work is different than the movie. If only it were so simple to have them blank means no and symbol up means yes. [Sigh]
