This is my version of the six eared macaque, liu’er mihou!!! This is when sun wukong reunite on the journey and..uhh things go wrong but this is what he looks like, might be final design but I’m not sure. He wears jade earrings on all of his left ears because it’s a common belief that wearing earrings on your left ear means you’ve been in danger before and this will prevent it happening again! …..clearly it didn’t work in his case but I want it to have a little bit of foreshadowing in my story where the earrings get ripped off his ear and it kinda says some shits about to go dooown, and ofc it does so. Also they’re made of jade which is also said to ward off evil and bad luck.

And about the eyes! They change with the moons phases, in the drawing they’re crescent. I want it to be that when the fight between him and sun wukong happens his eyes fully turn into a new moon just before he dies, signifying a new beginning, yes in my version he’ll have his eye taken out as well, I just love how everyone describes the scar and how wukong has a permanent reminded about how he fucked up their relationship.

I think that’s all I wanna say about this drawing, I have a whole backstory and stuff for him and wukong but that’s not really relevant lololol, I’m going to post his younger self later too maybe?

Oh wait! He’s very soft spoken with a deep voice, usually very calm and stoic but more playful around wukong but a bitch to others he doesn’t know or like. And I will be posting a certain vixen, a jade faced vixen cough cough who he has a strange relationship with,,,, basically she manipulates him into have a more possessive selfish mindset of the world and of his king. Ahhhh so many headcanons but I don’t want to say them I want to show them!!! Grrr

Making my art into a sticker for myself to cure my depression

Can you guys give me some tips on how to be more confident in my art?

i feel like that no matter what i do i hate my art or its not good enough. i wanna do a comic but i feel like my own insecurities about my art is stopping me..

even when i start to like my art i just think about all the stuff i cant do, and then when i learn that stuff i think about all the other stuff i cant do and keep postponing putting myself out there,

i keep holding myself back and no matter what i do i cant get out of my own head.

do you guys have any tips for actually liking your art enough to keep it online for more than 30 minutes without taking it down in shame lmao

Mortals usually just call her yù(jade) she goes by so many names in her different forms she usually just lets the nickname slide

(Let me know if I got anything wrong clothing wise or even if you think the nickname isn’t really culturally appropriate, I just thought it would be a fun nod to her also being the jade faced princess. I obvi want to be as respectful as possible :)) but also this is a WIP so the full clothing look isn’t fully done but if you spot anything kind of off rn… let me know!)

The scar on his head is from a spat with wukong gone wrong, spur of the moment which he regretted after he realized what he had done-

he waited for his sifu to use the fillet tightening sultra to punish him, he’s shaking, apologizing profusely in a small voice. To his surprise he doesn’t feel the painstaking ache of the band squeezing. Instead, when he looks up he finds Tripitaka, his sifu, looking at him with a horrified look on his face. But…. He’s not scared of wukong… he’s scared of himself, if he could cause such a reaction in this godly simian, a demon that the heavens feared, then…what he had been doing…it wasn’t right, it couldn’t be.

-Lololol that’s my head canon/ my own home brew story of Jttw that I’ve been making in my mind, I like to imagine that’s the point where they’re relationship starts to turn for the better and instead of reluctant companions they become friends who wish to protect each other in every way, no matter the cost. They are representative of the mind and the heart, like in most cases they clash and argue, resent and fear each other, but when finding balance and harmony throughout their journey the mind and heart grow closer and work as one. They’re relationship to me is something more than friendship, it’s love but not romantic love, but it’s also not familial love like a father and son, though some translations of the book describe their relationship as such I’d like to think of it as something deeper. Again not romantic kissy love. These babes are Buddhists lololol but it is more than friendship. I might post my version of the story on here and you can interpret as you please, father son, a couple, friends, enemies. But know that in the end what him and sun wukong have is complex, it can not be summed up in one word. At least that’s my take on them,

Also the other scars are from demons, getting captured and such, the scar between his eyebrows he got as a baby, and the read on his wrists are from rope burn, again from being tied up and captured.

I like to see the monk as having a fit build despite acting and appearing weak, though he does not know what to do with this rocking bod he has. (This drawing was inspired by gidget… I loved their reference for their tang and decided I would make my own concept sheet depicting his scars and body type as well.)

I want to start posting my dynamic stuff on here and actually drawing my Jttw ideas… I just get really perfectionist about them and end up only liking the art after a year goes by and it’s too late to post them….
