what the heck..
i just said all of this yesterday, that's wild.
but i agree with all of this. the baratie arc focused so heavily on dreams. on how sanji gave hers up because she couldn't think of any other way to express how much he appreciated all zeff did for him. i've been reading the manga since i caught up with the anime, and reading everything that happened in the baratie felt really disconnected from the current stuff that's happening. there are all these moments where sanji and zeff watch the fights - both zoro vs mihawk and luffy vs kreig- and sanji can't understand why these two are fighting so hard for their dreams. why would they risk their life for something they don't even know is possible? and that's what luffy teaches her, i think. that it IS possible because, to luffy, nothing is impossible if you try hard enough. and even he fails at becoming king of the pirates, he doesn't falter because "i guess it wasn't meant to be". for luffy, the journey is just as important as the ending. and, to me, that's something sanji really needed to learn, and still needs to learn.
but after the baratie arc, we don't see that anymore. when's the last time we heard about the all blue? or saw sanji express himself through cooking?
i don't want to see sanji get stronger the same way i want to see luffy or zoro get stronger, i want to see her explore ruins with robin just in case there's some mention of the all blue, or work with franky on building a better kitchen with all the knowledge she gets. i want to see him pouring over maps with nami, discussing theories. using usopp or chopper or franky as guineapigs for new recipies because zoro doesn't give good feedback and luffy inhales it too fast to properly taste and she's honeslty not even sure if brook can taste or if he's just pulling her leg. discussing fish with jinbei, all the different kinds he's seen and the unique dishes from fishman island.
all the strawhats have so much potential that i don't think is properly explored, and even though i understand that you often have to push aside the slice of life moments so you can progress the plot, i still think that there's more the characters could be doing
So many of my thoughts on sanji are about how he’s the food guy that I legitimately sometimes forget that he really . Isn’t . The food guy . In canon
been seeing a lot of people talking about how weird jax was in the recent tadc episode, and i wanted to share my thoughts about it
to me, this whole episode was about masking, both in a literal sense and an emotional sense, and what happens when people can't mask anymore. it was mostly focused on gangle, and how she's trying to keep herself together and happy despite not feeling that way, but i also think this theme spread to the other characters as well.
there are a handful of characters that i think mask, or hide themselves more than the others. starting off with zooble, who hides in their room because they don't feel comfortable with themself, being forced to interact with the others and do the adventure.
then, ragatha, who tries so hard to make others like her and saying what she thinks they want to hear, ends up drugged or drunk or whatever which takes away her filter and causes her to say what she really thinks.
finally, jax, who i think values control, which is almost impossible to get in a place where your whole life is controlled by someone else. so he acts a certain way and he does what he can to get whatever amount of control that he can over a situation to prove that the digital circus doesn't have full power over him. sometimes i think he acts like a jerk as a way to control what others hate about him, instead of them hating him for things he can't control. some form of coping mechanism or smth, but i don't think we know enough about jax to say that for sure. he might just be a jerk for the fun of it.
but he loses that control in this episode. gangle, the one person he has the most power over out of the group, now has power over him and when he pushed back against that, she sent him to the training room where he was physically restrained and forced to watch the training video. that's why i think he was so off this episode. because his way of coping with being stuck in the circus wasn't working and there was nothing he could do about it
but hey, that's just a theory
me casually rewatching mlp because of the infection aus

ZORO STINKS
Zoro canonically bathes once a week… of course he stinks…
Stupid stinky man……. 💚
It’s ok though Zoro and Luffy both stink together 👍👍👍
Look at him he’s mad he’s in the water bc he wasn’t planning on bathing that day
AND FOR THE RECORD I KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT BUT FOR BOTH OF OUR SAKES I’M PRETENDING I DON’T 😡😡😡 /lh /silly
I found these AMAZING WOY sketches drawn by Craig McCracken! They feature the OG 2009 designs for Wander, Sylvia and Lord Hater from Craig’s original unfinished graphic novel, “Wander Over Yonder: Into The Cold Black Heart of Hate.” As well as the designs for the OG 2011 pilot.
(The sticky note drawings at the top is the current version of Wander we all know and love.)
