You’ve always admired Hawks as a hero. Not because of how talented he is or how handsome he is, your focus is the crimson wings he so proudly sports. They’re amazing and what he’s able to do with his feathers makes him even more interesting to you. 

In contrast, your wings are soft, simply for decoration. Sure, you’re able to fly, but you don’t do it often. When people see the gentle, angel-like wings that sprout from your back, they see you as someone weak and that you need to be protected. It bothers you. But you can’t do anything about it, that’s how it is. 

That’s why Hawks is such an amazing person. Birds are seen as fragile and pretty animals, meant to watch from afar. The wings of a bird are easy to break, their bones hollow so they can fly. Hawks is always so strong, so determined, the exact opposite of you. You’ll never be like him, so you’ll watch him and admire him as if that’s enough. It isn’t enough, obviously. But it dulls the pain in your heart when people treat you like you’re some sort of porcelain doll. Even if it’s just watching him on TV, you can feel a bit better about yourself. 

It’s a day when you’re feeling the worst when you meet him. Your wings are folded tightly to your form, hoping that you can hide them. They stick out no matter what, unfortunately. The day has been full of people treating you like a small child and it’s too much. You walk into a chest and without any motivation, you let yourself fall onto the concrete. It hurts a little and you let out a hiss. A hand reaches out for you and a well-known voice reaches your ears.

“Hey, you okay there?” You look up and the first thing you notice are crimson wings. It might surprise you but you reach out and let him help you up. His hands are calloused and you end up staring down at your interlocked fingers, brows furrowed. But you end up letting go of his hand, unable to really handle what’s going on. It’s a bad day. This isn’t a day where you have the energy to meet the hero you admire.

“Yeah. Just had a rough day.” With a side-step, you aim to walk around him. He reaches out and grabs your wing, pulling you back to where you were.

“I know.” Hawks voice is low, almost threatening. You glance up at him and your breath hitches. The look in his eyes is far from anything you’ve ever seen. There’s something deeper and it scares you, especially with his hand gripping your wing so tightly. He leans close to your face, sighing. “I wanted to comfort my dove since he was having a bad day. I hate seeing you so upset. Here, come with me and I’ll make you feel a lot better.”

Dealing With an Asshole Bird (NSFW)

— Birdbrain!Hawks is a dumbass, but he’s a powerful dumbass. If he has his sights on you, you’re gonna have a hard time escaping.

— You’ll find this bastard in your home somehow, tidying up your room to impress you. He’s very patronizing as he describes how messy your ‘nest’ is. “Good thing you’ve got an organized guy like me around to help you out. Lucky girl!” He brought some of his belongings as well, and combines your stuff with his to transform your bed.

— Don’t lay on the bed. Settling on the nest that he made tells him that you accept his proposal to be your mate. Turn around and go sleep on the couch or something. Actually, just leave the house.

— Wait, don’t do that either. What are you gonna do, tell people that the Number 2 hero broke into your house and began aggressively rearranging your things? He’ll just chase you down and get everyone on his side in no time.

— Well I guess you’re Hawks’s mate for now. At least the sex is good. He’ll always give you a grooming session after doing the deed, but he’s still talking down on you every other minute. “You’re always such a mess after I fuck you. At least I’m not the type to bang and leave. Without me, you’d just be lying here...all sticky and fucked out.”

— Hawks negotiates with the Commission until they allow him to bring you along during work. After all, he can’t let his careless and helpless mate out of his sight. The Commission is very aware that he’s an idiot bird and will entertain his avian side if it means he keeps doing his job well.

“You can’t just put me in danger while you fight villains!” You say.

“Aww, my baby bird forgot that she’s talking to one of the top heroes. Like I’ll let you get hurt on my watch. You’re so precious ʸᵒᵘ ᶜᵘᵗᵉ ᵈᵘᵐᵇ ᵇᶦᵗᶜʰ.”  

— He’s extra flashy around you, using unnecessary and extravagant moves while you try to stay out of harm’s way. If you try to run off when he isn’t paying attention, he’ll screech and hop around in a tantrum. To prevent an angry birb, praise him and feed him strips of meat every time he rescues someone or catches a villain.

— He’ll become a panicked squawking mess if you escape him, and the Commission is going to hunt you down because “Hawks is going apeshit so get your ass back over there.”

— You’ll get a scolding once you’re returned to him. A surprisingly angry one. “Do you know how dangerous it is running off alone? You don’t have any talons or wings to defend yourself with!” Try tossing a dark cloth or blanket over his head. The darkness will calm him and he’ll quickly forget what he was so pissed about.

— What are you doing eating that solid food? You might choke, silly bird. Let Hawks eat and regurgitate your meal. Now it’s mushy with a coating of wet love! You’re just staring at the gross pile of pulp while he eagerly stares at you like:

“Hawks...uh...this is very sweet of you, but I can eat whole foods just fine. In fact, I’m not even hungry right n--”

“Nevermind this shit looks bomb and I can’t wait to gobble it up.”

— I know you really don’t want to, but try to keep your ‘meal’ down while he’s around.

— You’re not allowed to be near mirrors alone. There’s always another winged bastard hanging out with you. Hawks has no idea how he keeps getting into the house, and he looks just like him, like he’s trying to fool you. And knowing how clueless you are, it might work! For all Hawks knows, you probably brought the imposter home because you thought it was him!

“Hawks, calm down! It’s you in the mirror!” You say.

“Are you serious? You really can’t tell me apart from this asshole?!” He says while sounding truly hurt by your words.

— He attacks the mirror, shatters it, and knocks himself unconscious. When he wakes up, he discovers that the phony is finally gone! Sure, Hawks may have blacked out and is suddenly covered in cuts, but the bastard is finally gone! Serves him right!

— Ah shit the fake fucker is back in another mirror.

The chorus of songbirds can be heard right outside of Hawks’s window, their small shapes dashing past and making the peeking sunlight flicker across the bedroom. It sounds like it’s gonna be a beautiful day. He’d be elated, if he wasn’t feeling so ill already.

The fever and itch were coming back, like a hot rash that he couldn’t scratch because it was inside of him. He was really hoping to never feel such a hellish sensation ever again.

He slowly peeled the thick sheets off, making sure not to disturb his bedmate as he sat up. There’s no way the quirk’s effects were returning, is there? Last night, the feeling had only gotten weaker with every passing hour. Now it has returned, not in full force, but once again difficult to ignore. He peered over his shoulder to check on his guest.

A/N: started this a month ago. my inspo skedaddled about halfway through. it never came back, but i was tired of feeling guilty about already having 4k words written so i finally decided to bite the bullet and just spend a few hours slapping the keyboard until the rest of this 7k monstrosity was born. not sure why i’m posting on here since i’m hardly active but :’) this is for all the homies who are constantly starving for nasty keigo content. i feel y'all. i AM y'all.

Sometimes, you thought about throwing yourself from your balcony. You’d never actually be able to, what with the layers upon layers of security ensuring you’d never so much as sniff the outside air without Keigo’s express permission and supervision. Still, a girl could dream.

Just the idea of that moment before the fall, the suspension of time and space that simultaneously felt ephemeral and like an eternity. The blistering onslaught of air forcing your eyes closed. Your hair whipping wildly behind you, like ribbons. The weightless feeling of your organs, and the butterflies filling the spaces in between them. And finally, the moment before your body collided with the unforgiving earth—then nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

You yearned for it, more than anything you thought to be capable of yearning. It frightened you, because this is what he made—no, molded you into. A scared little thing, cowering and submitting always, because a happy Keigo was infinitely more preferable to an upset Keigo. He made you want to die. You, who used to be someone worthy of the title villain, worthy of the fear of others, and the respect of your peers.
