favorite thing about the bnha fandom is how someone will post their stupid ass take about Anything that happens in bnha like for example “rei is just as bad as endvr” or “hawks is actually misunderstood and a good person” and then the tags on the post are #shigaraki x reader #hawks x reader #endeavor x reader #yandere headcanons #bnha meta #fandom #shipping #anti ship #proshipper #self insert #midoriya izuku #bakugou katsuki #peepeepoopoo

I Tried To Make It Funny But Can You Feel The Scream From The Bottom Of My Mariana Trench Soul?

I tried to make it funny but can you feel the scream from the bottom of my Mariana trench soul?

Disclaimer 1: I haven't read the manga since about summer, 2020, but this is the impression I got from all the spoilers that, well... flooded my dashboards. I also felt physically ill about the thing in the middle panel and felt it all over again while drawing it ngl.

Disclaimer 2: Hawks is both drowning Deku and Dabi, but with an added layer of "why are you even here" bc has he ever actually... DONE anything to prove his character development (apart from not fighting Toga) that no one else could have done, or was it all say, no show?

(ps I know these don't apply to class 1A for the most part, instead it's about... basically everybody else)

sometimes i think of endeavor kneeling at touya’s altar, wishing that touya was still there. the dead cannot speak. you can conveniently make up your own story to suit them, imagine that the deceased son you cast aside would surely want nothing more than to be with family again. it brings me some fierce joy that dabi’s return denies that feel-good narrative, denies the desires projected onto his memory, that dabi can name the truth of why he vanished, that he can say for certain it was endeavor himself that drove him from the family and killed him in all but body. he’s no longer the child with no autonomy, no longer the dead without voice, he’s seizing the narrative and flipping it on its head and it is a euphoric moment.

So, I know that the purpose of this chap was supposed to demonstrate what a virtuous person Deku is and further establish him as the moral paragon of this manga because apparently he’s able to ‘sympathize’ with villains. However, the problem here is that this entire message is undermined when you remember how Deku reacted when he actually encountered a villain, who’s made his motivations for becoming a villain explicitly clear, i.e. Dabi.

Remember that the same Deku that says this:

Is the same character that said this:

Despite the fact that he knew about all of this:

It just undermines any of the emotional impact that this chap is supposed to have.

Another Old Tweet From Spinner’s VA Ryou Iwasaki!

Another old tweet from Spinner’s VA Ryou Iwasaki!

During a talk with my manager about the November Event, he said, “When will Spinner get a power up?” I replied, “He’s fine the way he is. He is someone whose weakness is meaningful. I want him to be a person who fights with spirit more than ability.” [Manager] also asked “When will the Quirk be used,” so I stuck myself! On to the wall! Haha.

This man knows his character. 🙏🏼👍🏼❤️

okay so yes, fine, i've got my shippers goggles on

but you can't tell me that Spinner holding onto The Hand doesn't have all the vibes and imaging of a -Longing And Worried Fiancé- clutching a Ring for -A Promised Wedding One Day Soon- that has been -Derailed By Tragedy-.

The issue with overhaul is what he did to Eri. No amount of sob story fixes that

Of course nothing fixes what he did, but nothing will fix what any of the villains do. Yet, Shigaraki, Toga and Dabi are seemingly being set up to be saved, and the manga going toward a 'everyone deserves to be saved' message. If that's the case Overhaul should be saved too, and it's kind of bizarre that Hori ignored him, despite him being a really good first candidate for a villain being saved.

And sure, what he did to Eri was unforgivable, and she is under no obligation to forgive him, neither is Izuku, but at this point it's almost cruel to not help him. Unlike Shigaraki and Pals, Overhaul is defenseless. He is a danger to no one, and can barely function. He is a broken man, who just wants to fix his dad.

There are logical reasons why Izuku or any of the Heroes continue to have giant, violent fights with the LoV, particularly Shigaraki. I can't fault Star for trying to kill Shigaraki, or not trying to reach out to a person who has not just leveled a country and is trying to rule the world, but is also actively trying (and succeeded) to kill her and steal her power. Despite what the stories themes are, I don't think it reflects badly on someone to defend not just themselves but billions of people from a really terrible fate.

But that's not the situation with Overhaul. Yes, he hurt Eri, but he's not doing it now, and physically and mentally can't harm anyone. Continuing to deny him basic human decency and lock him back up in prison is kind of terrible. I mean, I was floored that Izuku didn't even seem shocked by Overhaul's state. This is the guy who turned himself into a huge ass monster to kill him, and now he can barely hold a conversation because he's been so fucked up.

I just don't understand how Izuku can see a small child in Shigaraki, who is actively trying to kill him and everyone he loves and decide to save him, but not look at a disabled man that is mentally not all there anymore and not feel anything. If the point of this manga is that villains are people, and that Heroes save everyone, regardless of what they've done, Overhaul should not only count, he should be a wake up call for Izuku.

And it's not like he hasn't forgiven abusers before. I mean he defended Enji's right to change and be a better person to Dabi--the kid Enji neglected until he set himself on fire. How is Overhaul somehow not deserving of the same chance?

If Shigaraki and Co. get to be happy after all the horrible things they've done, why is Overhaul excluded? Especially when he has a similarly tragic past and a super tragic present?

Sob stories can't be a factor when it comes to someone actively trying to hurt you or someone else, but that's no longer the case with Overhaul. Helping him and treating him with basic human dignity is just the right thing to do. Letting him suffer doesn't fix what he did to Eri anymore then treating him humanly does.

I'm not saying Izuku should be his best friend, all I want is for him to see Overhaul's humanity like he did Shigaraki's--because saying everyone deserves to be saved is a far better message then saying only a select few deserve to be saved.

Japanese Spinaraki fans having fun with wordplay about Spinner’s quirk, Gecko, which in Japanese is yamori - which sounds exactly like the word for housekeeper… so Spinner is/would be Shigaraki’s housewife

A lot of people get hung up on the fact Dabi called spinner lizard, which is considerably quirkist, but no one ever wants to talk about how after the first and only time it happened he never did it again once spinner clearly established he didn't like it. Dabi was willing to grow as a person and learn not to use the term for his teammate after one time.

Dead Fingers Walking - Working For A Nuclear Free City

Dead Fingers Walking - Working for a Nuclear Free City

I couldn’t export it properly so you’ll have to use your imagination; but his hand movements are meant to sync with the bass line and his jitters to the ringing.

Poor crusty boi is tweaking out.

Good taste on Horikoshi's part to make the samurai lizard the normal motherfucker of the gang. Everyone else has some complex anime bullshit going on meanwhile Spinner is literally just some guy.

ideal version of bnha is where instead of whatever pointless bullshit was happening with deku and star n stripe we just got an entire arc of the todorokis being forced by authorities to be shuttled off somewhere for their own safety against the furious civilian masses, along with the toga and iguchi families, for a tense and brutal exploration of both the toll and stress inflicted on the families of criminals/villains, but also the ways those family environments planted the seed for those criminal acts. except it’s all framed as a sitcom where the todorokies are the collective straight man, the togas are chewing the scenery with their melodrama, and the iguchis are locked in an intense debate over whether their kid is gay and if it’s homophobic for him to be gay.

Edited screenshot from Chapter 340 of Boku no Hero Academia. Spinner is at the forefront, with a finger in his mouth as the League of Villain is eating sushi. Dabi has his back to Spinner and is waving a hand carelessly.
Spinner says, "You not gonna eat this, Dabi?!"
Dabi says, "Go ahead. Sushi just doesn't smell as good as burning orphan flesh anyways."

i'll be real this foreshadowing was a little heavy-handed. so let's editorialize a bit. spinner looks SO cute in his panel lookit him i wanna hold his face so fucking bad. and dabi won't even PEEK, he will not GLANCE. this is why i'm right when i say that dabi is a fuckin

re: last reblog i want to be in awe of people's imagination and the breadth of interpretation each individual can bring to a text, but my experience in fandom is that, in practice, people will use that imagination to try and headcanon their way out of racist or trans/misogynist or imperialist or pro-police texts.

i've been trying to figure out the reason for the very hollow feeling after last chapter and i think it's like -

before anyone gets on my ass, again, i think the past few chaps divorced from everything else were very well done, more so than many of the previous chaps. but in the grand scheme of the entire story i'm kinda like,

what am i even rooting for the villains' survival for?

i mean in a different sense than my pessimism about them either dying or ending up in prison, like, even if they got the best ending possible and escaped somewhere. because at this point jin IS dead and IF himiko is also dead (and possibly dabi idk) it's like,

why do i even WANT anyone to survive at this point

they've lost so much. the only things they had were each other to begin with. and now they don't even have that either.

i'm not trying to rail against people moving on and living a fulfilling life after losing loved ones, but these are characters, who aren't going to get that story, for one. for two, these are characters who had major parts of their growth and belonging hinge on one another, who emphasized feeling acceptance and camaraderie, often for the first time, when they came together. take that all away and it just feels so -

lonely.

why would i want the rest to survive to just be the Only One(s) left?
