Crystal Care 101

Alright witches (and non-witches), let me give you a crash course in Crystal Care.

Universal Ways to Charge Crystals

Any of these ways can be used without damaging your crystals:

Moonlight. The moon is our best friend, she is amazing, she will not harm your crystals at all.

Touch. You can hold your crystals in your hand to charge them with your own energy and intention. It is a very personal way to charge your crystals.

Smoke. You can run your crystals through smoke from your incense, candles, or smoke cleansing sticks.

Sigil. Place a sigil meant for charging underneath your crystal to charge it.

Selenite. Some people use Selenite to charge their other crystals. I don't know why Selenite is associated with charging crystals, but it is.

Basic Crystal Safety

Do not consume any crystal or crystal powder under any circumstances.

Some crystals are toxic when in water, make sure yours isn't before you charge your water.

Do not heat your crystals with a flame.

Do not have Himalayan Rock Salt Lamps if you have a cat, they can lick it and become very dehydrated, which can lead to death.

In fact, make sure all of your crystals are out of reach for any of your pets, or children if you have them.

DO NOT PUT THESE CRYSTALS IN WATER

Amber, Angelite, Black Tourmaline, Calcite, Carnelian, Celestite, Halite, Hematite, Jade, Labradorite, Lapis Lazuli, Lodestone, Malachite, Mica, Moldavite, Moonstone, Obsidian, Opal, Pearl, Pyrite, Selenite, Tangerine Quartz, Turquoise

DO NOT PUT THESE CRYSTALS IN CONSTANT SUNLIGHT

Amethyst, Apatite, Aquamarine, Aventurine, Calcite, Celestite, Citrine, Clear Quartz, Fluorite, Green Amethyst, Opal, Rose Quartz, Sapphire, Smokey Quartz, Topaz, Turquoise

DO NOT PUT THESE CRYSTALS IN EXTREME TEMPERATURES

Amber, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Citrine, Coral, Emerald, Jade, Labradorite, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Moonstone, Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Pearl, Touramaline.

This is just a 101 Guide, it's by no means a full list, so please make sure to also do your own research on your individual crystals as well. I hope this helps!

🚩 Witch Red Flags 🚩

These are some things that I consider red flags in witches I have come across before:

Believes only women can be witches.

Believes that magic/spirituality/energy/crystals can cure mental illness, physical illness, chronic illness, and disorders.

Doesn't respect closed paths or practices.

Tells others how their paths should be.

Won't stop telling witches they need to protect themselves from deities.

Thinks they are more powerful than anyone else, won't stop talking about how powerful they are.

Judges all witches with Wiccan rules.

Treats baby witches like they are somehow idiots and don't deserve respect.

Calls themselves a fancy title without being able to back it up.

Thinks hereditary witches are more powerful/better than first generation witches.

These are just a few I've noticed. If you know of any others, add them in reblogs or replies!

shydryad’s list of nasty shit to put in curse jars

Since my altar/offering idea list seemed to get a good response, here’s another list on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Be warned, some of this stuff is dangerous to handle, like, physically, not just magically. Don’t leave a curse jar full of anything that might rot in or near your house. I’m not responsible for the results of whatever you do with this information, or the results of any hexes you cast.

cemetery dirt

maceration water (if you’re not familiar with taxidermy terminology, it’s the water leftover after you let animal parts sit in it for a while to clean flesh off of bones)

labyrinth dirt

animal claws/teeth (pick an animal that corresponds with your intention)

rotten flesh/meat/eggs (be sure to bury the damn thing outside as far away from you as possible if you go this route)

the cheapest, nastiest vodka you can find, or malt liquor (good for spells targeting an abusive alcoholic)

vinegar

dead insects (especially spiders)

thunderstorm water

urine

cat shit

bullets

thorns

wasps nest

barbed wire

rusty nails/coffin nails

needles

spanish moss

bloodstone

iron filings

broken glass

razor blades

goofer dust (this one might be a bit controversial; depending on your views, this might be best to skip and leave for hoodoo practitioners to use)

mars water (especially if made on the day of mars, hour of mars)

crushed ants, wasps, and scorpions

blood root

black snake root

deerstongue

asafoetida

high john root

whole chili pepper

dragon’s blood

blackthorn bark

masterwort

coriander seed
