to say the same thing that i've been saying for YEARS once again, mob and reigen's relationship is so bonkers crazy insane, like... here's mob, 14 years old, and reigen's been lying to him since he was 11. to reigen, it was a white lie, even a kindness. to mob, it was not so inconsequential -- it was proof that he was not alone in the world and that he could be okay as an adult. and of course mob believed him fully at first. why wouldn't he? but over the years, the cracks started to form. if things didn't quite add up, mob tried not to think about them. and reigen kept digging the hole deeper; he never thought it would go this far. now mob's 14 and the truth is seeping in around the edges of his consciousness but he refuses to speak it, even after the press conference, when reigen all but begs him to. reigen wants him to say it. i know you've been lying to me. just say it. but mob won't and reigen can't, and they settle back into this weird holding pattern for a while longer. when things finally bubble over for mob, this is at the heart of it. the repression, insecurity, anger, doubt -- mob learned a lot from his master, including: we don't talk about it. so reigen, finally, SHOUTING the truth at him -- it doesn't matter that mob already knew. there's power in the confession, reigen's humility to finally admit it, the vulnerability of saying it out loud instead of leaving it unspoken. it takes all the air out of the conflict, the tension almost immediately evaporates... mob just needed to hear it. to be shown that it was okay to be honest, vulnerable... then when he returns from his long-built-up confession to tsubomi, mob breaks down in tears but it doesn't destroy the city. he just cries and reigen awkwardly pats his back and it's okay.
anyway SCREAMS at the top of my lungs, i love mob psycho 100
Losing my god damn mind over the eye symbolism and hand symbolism in Mob psycho 100 and how they reveal true feeling vs intent
I did some Mob Psycho hand studies this week because I love how expressive and simple the studio draws them!! Most of these are.. Reigen’s hands. I want to study every Reigen frame.
I’m way more upset with Teru about this text message he wrote than I am about him choking out Mob.
I’m so sorry to inform those who don’t know that Teru’s response to this is: “I’m waiting like a good boy.”
He also makes a pun with his name and 「待ってる」 (matteru) by writing 「待っ⭐️テル⭐️」 (mat⭐️TERU⭐️)

Part 2/3
I think what I find so interesting about Riza is that she’s fundamentally a pessimist and yet she chooses to be hopeful
Start your day right with my favorite shot of Tome Kurata from the Reigen manga.
Brain slowly recovering enough that I can hopefully get back to working on End of the World, but I have totally lost my overview, so today I'm just reminding myself of basic thematic stuff, like...
Mob Psycho 100 is about kindness, which is a great and refreshing theme for a shonen manga, and one I appreciate very much. But on a personal level I just can't help but want to prod at it. And Shou is so very different from Mob that he and many of the people in his life make a great vehicle for that.
What if you aren't kind? What if you aren't empathetic? What if you haven't been given the tools to understand other people or yourself? What if reaching out or trying to help has backfired more times than not? What if the people who were supposed to take care of you have hurt and abandoned and taken advantage of you over and over? What if it isn't forgivable?
What if it isn't forgivable...?
reuniting with mom
If ??? are Mob's supressed emotions and desires, when he talks about Reigen those could be his intrusive thoughts? Deep down Mob already knew the deal with Reigen but he denied it/didn't want to think about it. Like he refused to believe that his master could be that type of person after everything he's done for Mob.
Deep down Mob did already know the truth about Reigen, while also knowing he's a 'good person' at heart too. (The Separation Arc showed this.) But ???% takes that to those raw, unfiltered extremes of thinking, like 'that person treats me the most different out of everyone; he only lies and uses me for my powers, he never actually cared for me.' Which is pretty whoa (Mob would rationalize how all of that can't be true), so in a way yes, they are some of his most negative opinions + repressed intrusive thoughts. Especially when Reigen himself does what ???% doesn't expect, by showing how much he truly cares for him as a person and honestly coming clean to him about everything. :')
Saw a tweet about an interview article of the anime, apparently Ritsu asking Mob if he's Ok isn't only because Ritsu is afraid/overprotective, but Ritsu himself has a problem and (unconsciously) wanted Mob to ask back. But Mob can't take any hints & solves stuff by other means, isolating him. Which is why, after he tells Mob his real feelings in edgy mode, he immediately becomes normal. ONE said he was unable to express this completely in the manga. Thoughts? (tryin to find the tweet again :/)
i have had the feeling in the past (though i don’t think i’ve said so anywhere public) that ritsu wants mob to ask him how HE’S doing for once ;m; dear ritsu… i mean, it’s a normal polite sorta thing to return a “let me know if you ever wanna talk” sentiment to the person who offers it, but i totally understand how that failed to occur to mob.
i’d really like to see that tweet/interview if you can find it? i don’t think tumblr lets you put links in an ask, but you can reply to this post or maybe submit it or just message me on here with the link.
