Obsessed with Xie Lan as a character. Like I know everyone reads these books for the romance but the individual character concepts are hilarious.

i hunk about the parallels og Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe alot like

They both were so similar and it's a cycle I think og Luo Binghe could unknowingly continue if he's not careful (and with the 3k harem he isn't being careful)

Both of them were mistreated by the rich and wealthy (Qiu Jianluo wouldn't have been Sj's only problem, with Slave traders and general rich folks who don't like street rats)

Both of them found comfort in a young girl's innocence and blindness, someone who ignored the problem and ultimately made things worse with their attempts at comfort

Both of them found comfort in women as adults.

Both of them have a inherent hatred for men due to their pasts, although Luo Binghe had less of a issue with getting along with others.

both started in rags and made their way to the top

Neither of them ever got what they really wanted.

However, there is some key differences in how they are that also means they are fundamentally different

As stated above, both of them find comfort in women, in understandably different ways. For Binghe, he finds comfort in keeping them for himself, briefly filling a void he doesn't know exists. While Shen Jiu merely finds comfort in their presence for he could never own a person in such a way, nor look upon a woman with such intent. I think this is a result of the differences in their situations, Qiu Jianluo likely took pleasure in the act, Shen Qingqiu thinks he's doing what's necessary and out of jealousy.

Luo Binghe gets what he wants, Shen Qingqiu loses what he gets

Luo Binghe's rise to the top was due to bloodline, you can say he had exceptional talent, but he wouldn't have clawed his way to the top without his birthright. Shen Jiu had no birthright to claim, and had to claw with only his intelligence to aid him.( Not saying that Luo Binghe didn't struggle and claw as much as Shen Qingqiu, just saying it was the guy with the bloodline that is essentially a walking unkillable god among men that got everything he wanted in the end (except for what he truly desired))

next point, Shen Qingqiu was a broken man who's talent was never fully acknowledged by others (outside of his shizun, afterall why would they put him in control of they didn't recognise that?) while Luo Binghe was a broken man who had his talent and raw power recognised and praised. (Shen Qingqiu had a talent for cultivation, he managed to get to golden core despite having very very messed up meridians and learning late! All without buffs too. He's also incredibly intelligent, being the strategy guy and learning mannerisms fast through osmosis likely, considering his act is so good no one can tell he's a street rat, being that other peak lords who hailed from the rich families thought he was a spoiled young master)

Binghe's roots are actually pretty clear, his parents? Only two people could have been them and both are famous, not hard to find once his seal was broken. Shen Qingqiu will never have a family and never did, his roots are as murky as sink water we made potions with.

Shen Qingqiu had what he wanted at one point, Yue Qingyuan, but they lost everything due to their combined issues. Binghe on the other never did and never will have what he wants, his Shizun's recognition
