Oliver Sears Gallery

Last night, I attended the opening of Catherine Owens’ exhibition ‘6 am’ at the Oliver Sears Gallery, 29 Molesworth St, Dub 2. The gallery was packed. Everyone there was very friendly. It was a treat to view work that looked a bit different. The curtains and LED lights added to the effect of seeing something new. Catherine’s show will run until 31st July 2018. Classy.

Morrisson at Solomon

🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

Tonight, I attended the opening of Maggie Morrisson's exhibition, Atricity at Solomon Fine Art, 2 Balfe Street, Dublin 2, next to the Westbury Hotel. The Venue was packed. Everyone was chatting. There was plenty of people to meet.

🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Maggie's paintings were painted in beautiful purples, pinks and yellows. They all looked summery and cheerful. Their subject matter were mainly flowers and landscapes painted in a semi abstract style. Maggie's exhibition will continue until the 20th July 2024. It is well worth seeing.

Jonathan Hunter at Hillsboro

Tonight, I attended the opening of Jonathan Hunter's exhibition at Hillsboro Fine Art, 49 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1 D01 A971. It was well attended. The atmosphere was quite relaxed. Jonathan's paintings were full of life and colour particularly the paintings that featured plants like 'Aleums', 'Vase' and 'Song of Colour'. His exhibition called 'The Listening Field' will run until 13th April 2024.

Paul Abell as Rathmines Library

Last night, I attended the opening of Paul Abell’s art exhibition at Rathmines Library. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Paul had already begun to sell his many paintings featuring buildings, boating scenes and landscapes. I particularly loved Paul’s paintings of one or two boats moored on a hazy shoreline which are the biggest sellers. Paul’s exhibition will continue for just today and tomorrow. He hopes to raise €8,000 the Capuchin Day Centre for the Homeless and Mellon Educate, a charity that builds schools in South Africa.

Classy.

Brian Harte at the Molesworth Gallery

I attended the opening of Brian Harte's exhibition 'To The Harbour Place' at the Molesworth Gallery, 16 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 tonight. Most memorable, I found were his use of colours, especially blue, yellow and green. His paintings, done in oil on linen, appeared enigmatic. They featured interior scenes with abstracted figures in them.

My favourite painting was 'Heat' with its combination of yellow, red and orange.

I also enjoyed viewing 'Alt (4 Person)' and 'P.Chair' hanging side by side with their complimentary colours.

Other paintings that I liked were 'Untitled' with its expanse of sky blue and 'M & J' due to sections of yellow and orange.

To my eye, it evoked the sense of a wet day.

The bright warm colours popped out from a black and white background.

Broan's exhibition will run until 11th April 2025.

Mick O'Dea at Molesworth

Last night, I attended the very popular opening of Mick O'Dea's exhibition 'What Is The Stars?' at the Molesworth Gallery, 16 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. Mick's paintings were a nice size; not too large or small. There was a lovely sense of light and shadow in their compositions.

Each painting protrayed actors preparing to go on stage or undertaking dress rehearsals. The plays in question were Sean O'Casey's trilogy, 'The Plough and the Stars', The Shadow of a Gunman' and 'Juno and the Paycock' all performed at the Druid Theatre.

My favourite painting was called 'Direction' which featured a pub scene. It was full of life and drama that centered around a barman behind a counter. Mick's exhibition will run until 15th May 2024.
