Grimoire?

Grimoire?

Grimoire?

Journaling has been a major downfall of mine, especially when it comes to the craft.

I would write in my journal and feel as though I wasn’t doing it right. I only reflected on my day and see how could I incorporate it spiritually, but eventually I’ve disconnected.

One day, I decided I wanted more of a grimoire, so I started journaling my daily tarot pulls. While I felt it helped, the feeling of something missing lingered and my poor journal waited for my return.

Recently, I was cleaning my room and spotted my journal. I instantly felt bad because being a writer myself, I felt disappointed at my lack of creativity. I wanted to write about the craft, but what?

I was reading about academic journaling in my journalism class, and a idea sparked in the middle of my chapter.

Typically in academic journals, it’s recording any to all information that’s being researched. It starts with an idea/hypothesis/thesis, and your journaling goes from there. Anything you learn or think about, it’s recorded and eventually developed from new research.

I looked at all of the tabs on my laptop of things I’m researching regarding the craft, and I knew that any to all information should be recorded.

It makes me wonder, are academic journals inspired from grimoires of the past? Breaking down the science of your studies?

I feel more than ready now to continue in my old journal with new, fresh information, and also the start of something new.

I recently researched dream magic, that eventually turned into a web of ideas. I’ll give a list of how I started with one topic that lead into many, a perfect start for my grimoire:

Dream Magic

Illusion Magic

Sensory Illusion

Optical Illusion

Light Spectrum

Radio Waves

Electrical Impulses

Energy Work

Mindfulness

Crown Chakra

Mirage

Crystal Ball

Crystal Scrying

Obsidian

Black Mirrors

I started with one topic, dream magic. In my research, I started noticing key words that lead into more research to where everything above is recorded in my journal/grimoire.

I’ve always thought of grimoires as books full of old spells that’ll change the reality around me in an instant just by reading the words outloud.

It never dawned on me that a grimoire is a book of personal research. The information may not be useful to many, but to the user it’s a powerful tool because they understand the whats, whys, and hows of the information recorded.

Journal is the Witches modern term for grimoire, and scientists use a similar concept in their academic journaling.

Knowledge is power, and that is what we create in our journals. It starts with an idea that goes down a rabbit hole of discoveries, connections, and even new ideas.

How do you write your words of power?

**Update**

Witch Tip

While writing in your journal/grimoire, pulling tarot during the process can also be a part of your research by using spirit to bring depth into your information.

Celestial Energy

image

Note: Everything here is my UPG (Unverified Personal Gnosis) and may not be true for you! Feel free to share your experiences with it! Last Updated 10/5/18

Description

Celestial energy (also called Cosmic or Space energy) is constantly moving and changing, swirling across the sky and expanding before shrinking and coalescing. It is sometimes considered one of the harder energies to reach and work with, due to it’s distance away from us, but with a little effort, anyone can use this energy.

There are many different forms and identities of celestial energy, and each sub-type of celestial energy has a unique feel to it. The main similarity is that all forms of celestial energy is constantly moving. This energy type is very fluid, and one sub-type may shift into another sub-type dependent on where it is located and how it interacts with other forms of energy.

Sub-Types

This is not an all-inclusive list, but a small introduction to some of the various forms of celestial energy.

Solar or Stellar Energy- Solar and Stellar energy can be classified as a type of celestial energy, since it’s the energy of the stars themselves! This energy is very warm and bright, and is a good choice for getting into celestial energy or energy work in general due to it’s closeness from our own Sun.

Lunar Energy- Just like Solar Energy, Lunar energy can be classified as a type of celestial energy. This energy is calmer than solar energy and isn’t as bright, but it still provides light and warmth. This energy is a good choice for beginner energy workers and, like solar energy, is easily accessible.

Nebula Energy- This energy is closely related to solar energy, as it’s a part of the creation of the stars and solar energy. This energy tends to feel grittier than solar energy, and comes in different colors depending on it’s composition and size.

Emptiness/Void Energy- This doesn’t refer to the void energy that is typically focused on (it certainly isn’t True Void Energy). Instead, it is simply the energy that fills the empty spaces in between the celestial energy groups. It is the embodiment of the cold and harsh space itself, and it tends to be the most elusive and harder to work with form of celestial energy.

Planetary Energy- Planetary energy is the energy of the planets! It’s easily accessible to us in the form of Earth Energy, but different planets may be related closer to other different forms of energy.

The Great Goddess Hecate (Hekate)

The Great Goddess Hecate (Hekate)

Who is Hecate? She is the Goddess of Witchcraft, Necromancy, Ghosts, Magic, and, in some instances, the Night, Darkness, The Mist, and Moon. For some She is also the goddess of motherhood, protection, and the sea. She is a Hellenic deity, born of the Titans Asteria and Perses. There’s a few beliefs circling around Her being a crone goddess or a Triple Goddess, but those are modern and neopagan beliefs—which She predates. I also consider Her to be a part of the Chthonic deities.

Symbology: Black dogs, Wolves, Keys, Torches, Flames, Torches, Crossroads, Serpents, Daggers, Birds of Prey (crows, ravens, owls), the Moon, witchcraft tools (such as cauldrons, tarot, athames)

Offerings & Devotional Acts for Her:

Figurines of any of Her symbols

keys, skeleton keys, lockets

fire witchcraft and candles, flames, matchsticks

dedicating any lunar or symbolic jewelry to Her

black/dark crystals such as obsidian and onyx

nocturnal animal imagery

black/cool colored glitter

baneful/poisonous herbs and plants

pomegranates/berries (She seems to really like blackberries)

dark blend wines

honey, cinnamon, poppy seeds, chocolates (dark)

mugwort, lavender, roses, jasmine, dragon’s blood

bones and feathers from birds of prey (please check your local laws about obtaining these)

pinpricks of blood (please DO NOT attempt this if you struggle with self harm/etc, blood magic is particularly strong and isn’t for everyone. She will understand if you cannot offer that to her).

Taking midnight walks, setting up altars and rituals at crossroads, paying respects to the dead and practicing your craft in a cemetery

Any playlists, poems, literature, whether it be your own or just a piece you associate with Her, also make wonderful offerings.

Lunar Influences & Connections: Reaching out to Hecate tends to work best at night, and really any time the moon is at it’s peak. The Witching Hours, midnight to 3A.M., during strong lunar influences (blue moons, blood moons, eclipses, new moons, etc) all hold strong bonds with Hecate. Also, any time it is particularly foggy or your surroundings are covered in a mist is a good time to try to connect with Her.

Disclaimer: These are correspondences that have been gathered through my personal experiences working through my craft with Her. If you find She responds better to different offerings/during different times, by all means, stick to it! Your bond with Her is your own and should be cultivated in whichever way works best for you and Her. Thank You!

I wish my parents would understand this, no matter how many times I seem to explain it, they don’t listen 😓

a note on people who always say “i don’t mind” whenever you ask where they want to eat/what they want to watch/etc:

usually this is because they’ve been punished in the past for voicing their opinions, not because they’re out to annoy you specifically. depending on how much flack they used to receive, it can be very stressful for them if you try and force them to offer up an idea.

(edit: this was based off what my friends had told me about why they don’t like choosing things, it’s come to my attention anxiety at large is a much more common reason! although I will say this point wasn’t about abuse specifically, just any type of teasing/bullying/demeaning response to someone giving an opinion. there are many reasons people can feel uncomfortable voicing opinions, and they’re all understandable— I never intended to imply otherwise.)

a lot of my friends who do this appreciate me giving out like… three options. pick three different things that you will be happy to do any of and ask which of those three options they’d prefer. it removes the fear of “what if they don’t like my suggestion” without erasing their option to chose and have preferences so, you know, good all around
