OK FOLKS! It’s Theory time!

Posting this now here so I can say I called it!

Ladies and gentlemen I hate to be the bearer of bad news but guys I don’t think we should be getting too excited over the fact that future Leo came to visit.

Cuz if anyone has seen the leaks from andy_suriano insta (which im pretty sure we’ve all seen cuz F!Donnie’s design is all over the internet) before it was taken down cuz insta stories are icky. we all know that future raph and Donnie are still alive in this comic Which means this is a younger version of F!leo before the events of the movie. And from this pic:

We can surmise that mikey was likely messing around with his magic/practicing his magic.

Plus with the (reasonable) assumption that the IDW doesn’t wanna break the movie’s continuity cuz that would be very very stupid (that’s 2 verys) . This can only mean one thing:

Through some weird timey whimey shit, younger F!mikey makes a time portal that, (based of younger F!leo’s dialogue of Noooo) younger F!Leo accidentally goes thru. Which then sends younger F!leo to the past.

AND based of teen!Donnies dialogue of “there goes the space time continuum again”. The past, younger F!leo is sent too, takes place after the events of the movie. This allows for the events of the movie to still happen cuz it was obvious in the movie that the past!turtles didn’t know the krang. so F!leo being sent to a past that was post movie make sense makes sense to preserve the canon. No brainer there.

However, this is where it starts getting sad, since obviously F!leo still dies in the apocalypse and the F!Leo we see in the comics is likely a younger version of the F!leo we see in the movie due to the fact that raph and Donnie are still alive. I strongly suspect that in order to keep continuity and ensure that the past!turtles’ timeline still exists. The F!Leo in this comic will return back to his future to live out his days till the inevitable events of the movie. Where we can assume that F!Mikey, who presumably got better control of his powers, makes a second time gate (which is the one we see in the movie) and manages to control where in the past he wanted the gateway to lead too, which was the day the key was stolen. This ensures that the events of the movie kinda make sense. Ie: why the past turtles are still clueless of the krang cuz this second gateway technically opened up before the first one. Yeh kidna confusing I know.

This could also explain why F!Leo and F!Mikey in the movie seem so certain about the gateway and that it will work. Cuz if the comic goes the way I think it goes, they know the gateway will work cuz it’s happened before.

This then leads to some very very (once again 2 verys) heartbreaking implications cuz it could mean that F!leo and F!Mikey (idk bout F! Raph and Donnie) knew or at least suspected deep down that the resistance was always doomed to fail but despite it all, they kept hoping and trying and trying and pushing the time gateway off to a last resort cuz they rlly just wanted to be wrong and man does that hurt my heart 😭.

But hey, I could be wrong and it’s just me and my overly pessimistic brain. And hey, rmb folks! it’s all just a theoryyy. A COMIC THEORRY!!

TLDR: F!Leo is NOT here to stay and thanks to the events of the comic, deep down he was always kinda aware that the war in his timeline was one he and his brothers were always doomed to lose. But kept trying anyways

So ngl the reason I made Casey a healer is cuz of his expressive and kind personality plus how he was raised by the Hamatos meaning he defo inherited the classic Hamato brand of overprotectiveness towards family(esp cuz everyone kept dying :’)). It gave me the impression that deep down; despite his obvious feistiness what Casey truly wants is for his family to stay alive and safe, esp in the apocalypse. And since the Ninpo does seem to represent the inner desire of the wielders what better way, to accomplish that then healing powers? Field wise I like to think that made Casey an invaluable field medic cuz not only was he strong/skilled (cuz let’s be honest look at bro with his grappling gun boi had skillz also being trained by Leonardo ‘Mr president of the apocalypse’ Hamato defo gave him a massive leg up) enough to run into front lines and carry/ drag injured away by himself if need be, bro could also heal magically and perform first aid (if we rlly wanna lean into sensei-student dynamic and the team medic Leo hc) .

Post-movie I think his Ninpo would get clogged up, ( he can still feel it but he can’t use it which oh boi would be such a land mine for panic attack material, imagine losing the one of the few concrete things that shows him he did belong and had a family) cuz he feels isolated and not connected to the past!fam for obvious and understandable reasons but gets it back once he starts feeling like he is part of the present! Hamato fam and possibly significantly less bogged down by survivors guilt. Which btw would be such a wholesome moment I might actually make a comic out of it no promises tho.

Received a comment on ao3 and I realise it has been a while since I updated LMLY (yikes). So here’s a quick snippet of chapter 11 until then:

Only that key—and oh how Leo’s stomach had plummeted when Splinter told them this, unknowing of what Leo had done, what he had unleashed—was the only thing stopping the krang from escaping their prison. Beings once from the stars. Conquerors, annihilators, enslaving world after world they came across.

This was more, so much more.

I know it hasn’t been too long but Cj is getting to a point where he’s losing his temper ( I can’t hold back the classic Jones rage any longer without making him Ooc 🥲,that and unfortunately at this particular point of the this au Cj is way to freshly traumatised, full of rage (and conditioned by the apocalypse to not result to extreme measures esp in a combat setting) to regulate himself so eh.. things can get dark pretty quickly if this keeps going and I don’t wanna go there, and tbh I’m just.. really really tired. This is rlly fun and thank you for reachin out to me but welp.. I just don’t have enough of spoons to juggle this and everything else.
