“When We First Met, I Didn’t Think About What You Had Going On ‘cause I Was Already Going Through

“When we first met, I didn’t think about what you had going on ‘cause I was already going through a lot. That changed when we realized we needed to work together and I saw a different side to you and you saw a different side to me, I’ll be your anchor. I’ll do my best to help you, keep you alive and be stable for you. I hope you will do the same for me.” -Dante

Up close shots of the two, they have a enemies to friends relationship that does end up romantic but that’s later on in the future, like after what happens in the ROTTMNT movie.

Look at that art style shift! Now why is that?! Okay so I had took a year long break as I wanted to focus on my original stories and yeah, I had forgot about my comic until I think TMNT MM was released I think, this was uploaded around September 12 - November 12, 2023!

My art has improved and I’m glad of how far I’ve come! Even storytelling wise. I do reread my stuff to make sure I don’t have anything misspelled or misunderstood as I suffer with dyslexia. Like really badly. My brain thinks faster than what my hands can keep up with. So I do apologize if I do have some stuff misspelled!

So what exactly is the premise of this AT au?

I have a few AU’s going on right now, but i’ll list off the ones I have posted here for time and for the sake of my poor grammar skills.

The first one I ever showed on my blog was my interpretation of Finn growing up with Minerva on the islands, I took the line “You grew up to be a helper too?” and RAN with it bookie. I do plan for Finn to end up stranded in Ooo at some point, but we’ll see ;)

The second is basically a crossover AU with Rise of the TMNT and, well, Adventure Time. This one originated because I wanted to see how my human Leo design would look over a Marceline screenshot, then I realized that he looked out of place next to PB so I drew my silly lil yokai-mutant Jackson over her as a gum-oni-nekomata hybrid.

After that I sorta just assigned a character in another characters place and well, now we’ve got April the Human and Raph the Turtle!

The third AU isn’t completely mine, the vampire - emo finn idea came form sufyaaaa on insta and finnsemophase here on tumblr, after that I just added my own bits and pieces to it, which actually leads to AU four.

For AU four at first I wanted to just draw the Finn - Candy Queen idea but then I started thinking about it story wise and well, I think im gonna merge it in a bit with the vampire Finn AU, where Finn grew up human with Minerva in the wastelands instead of the islands and met Bonnie losing herself to pure elemental magic. (Which makes a lot of sense if you think about it) Im WAY OPEN to suggestions for whatever the FUCK to do with Martin cuz I honestly have no clue. 😭🤙

Anyways, I hope this cleared things up! Most of these are just me wanting Finn to interact with Minerva more since we got so little of them, but nevertheless I’ll expand beyond that thirst since people have been enjoying them more than I expected lmao.

For those who were curious for the Leo over Marceline picture, here it is! It isn’t much 🫠

So What Exactly Is The Premise Of This AT Au?

Trying My Hand At An Rottmnt Oc.

Trying my hand at an rottmnt oc.

Meet Paolo-lou (Leo named him that. Paolo to keep with the renaissance artist theme and Lou after Splinter of course.)

I've actually started plotting out a fic that takes places years after the Krang invasion... I won't get into the plot much because I'm still figuring it all out (its in the bullet-point stage right now lol) but in this fic—not the main plot—Leo found a young turtle and took him in and raised him.

This fic is a long way from being written but I like playing with the ideas and such, and drawing Paolo-Lou was really fun (Lou for short). I've been playing with this idea for months now lol.

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITH THE WEAPONS

Not like every other day.

Masterpost

Plot: It was a normal day for the four spirits when suddenly four turtles and one human changed everything.

Genre: Fluff, Attempts at Humor, Family-Bonding, Light Hearted, Original Characters, Canon Compliant

Notes: this one is a bit meh, but it's been sitting around for a while so I decided to just publish it as it is. I'm working on other projects that are much more exciting, so all my time is put into that instead.

Standing tall on the outskirts of the Hidden City stood a tall menacing building filled with a mix of mechanical and organic parts. Pulsing vines, steaming pipes, ominous glowing lights. The home of a warrior-scientist yokai. Inside, amongst many, many rooms, is a large abandoned hall filled to the brim with new and old weapons of various kinds. Swords, axes, arrows, shields. The room pulsed with a vibrant energy of science and magic combined in a glorious concoction. And there, on a far wall, glowing brilliantly in hues of red, orange, blue and purple sat four weapons unlike the rest. An Odachi, Tonfas, Kusari-Fundo and a Halberd. Mystic power surged through the wood and metal, a buzz surrounding them, shivers of vibrations, and, if you leaned close enough, you might be able to hear voices.

The voices of four ancient spirits.

"Rock. Paper—"

"We've got no hands, Fundi."

"Oh right, yeah…. Uh… I spy with my little—"

"No eyes either."

"But we can still see, Oda, so we can still play!"

Oda—un-originally named after the Odachi he inhabits— sighed. One would think, after decades of being stuck on a wall in a long forgotten room with three other unusual spirits, he would've gotten used to Fundi's incessant need to be entertained.

But no.

There was no getting used to this.

And he didn't want to get used to this either.

It was driving him mad.

"—Something beginning with 'A'!"

"Ax." Oda didn't hesitate to answer.

"Damn."

Right, after decades of eye-spy, when they couldn't move past the wall they were strapped to, there were only so many things they could use to play the word game with … and only so many weapons starting with 'A'.

Oda sighed again.

"Okay, okay, me next." The red glowing Tonfas beside him chuckled, obviously trying to save Oda from another headache. "Hmmm…" The spirit inhabiting the Tonfas—aptly named Tonfa— hummed thoughtfully. "Ooh I've got it! I spy with my little eye something beginning with—huh?! Turtles?"

Fundi groaned. "Tonfa that isn't how you play—"

"No look." If he could've, he would've pointed at the pile of four humanoid-turtles stacked at the far end of the room having fallen from an old trapdoor tunnel. "Turtles?…and a human!"

Oda quickly snapped to attention at the mention of a human. Yokai and such they were used to. The Baron that owned this building, and subsequently them, was a yokai. His henchmen and gargoyles were also yokai, so turtle yokais weren't anything new. A human however… that was new.

"Oh, do you think they'll want to play eye-spy too?" Fundi beamed, a flicker of fire shivering down his chain in anticipation.

"Draxum says humans are vile, evil creatures." The normally quiet purple Halberd—Hal—muttered nervously, a trembling pulse vibrating around his spiked ball. "What if the human wants to hurt us?"

"What if the human wants to use us for evil?" Tonfa added to Hal's already growing anxiety, a few particles of translucent squares formed around the Tonfas like nervous beads of sweat.

"Humans aren't inherently evil." Oda said calmly. "But if she doesn't get out of here soon, she'll be the one in danger. You know how much the Baron hates humans."

Tonfa's fear subsided, turning into concern instead. "Oh no, the poor thing." He fussed. "We should do something."

"No." Oda said firmly.

"But what if the human—" Hal said in a small unsure voice.

"We cannot make ourselves known." Oda cut in with a tone of age-old wisdom. "We'll just keep an eye on them and hopefully they'll find a way out of here soon."

"I'm sure those turtle yokai will help her." Tonfa agreed.

Fundi lifted up the ball at the end of his chain, a puff of orange fire zipping around the spiked ring through the center, something he only did when he was agitated. "But just watching is booorrrrriiiinnnngggg!"

Oda sent a spark of blue electricity towards the Kusari-Fundo, effectively telling Fundi to stop; they couldn't risk being seen. Fundi lets the fire die, but not before huffing childishly at the Odachi-inhabiting spirit.

Oda chose to ignore him and instead focus on the intruders.

The turtles recovered quickly from the messy pile of limbs and were quick to explore the vast range of sharp and dangerous weapons around them.

"It's like if magic and science had a baby!" The one in a purple mask said as he marveled at the mad-scientist aesthetic.

They sound like children, Oda noted with an inward cringe. Children and weapons do not bode well. Where are these kids' parents!?

"These'll do." Another one of them exclaimed merrily while holding up a pair of nunchucks. Nunchucks weren't too bad, at least they weren't sharp. The turtle would soon throw them down once he realizes just how difficult they are to wield. A few bruises and bumps later and hopefully he'll never pick up a weapon again.

The blue one however…. He just had to pick up a pair of Katanas. He probably saw the shiny sharp blade and saw himself and some kind of ninja. This isn't a game, Oda wanted to yell. But alas he knew the turtles couldn't hear him.

All four turtles and the human danced around the room, each picking weapons they found "cool" or whatnot. And here Oda thought Fundi was the biggest headache. No, these children beat the unruly spirit by a mile. They were reckless, overly-excitable, and completely unaware of the danger they were in by being in Baron Draxum's lab.

But it just had to get worse before it could get better.

Oda knew what the large red one was thinking when his eyes turned to the wall the spirits were strapped to. Like a moth drawn to a lamp, the bright light the spirits emitted had the big one's eyes sparkling with awe. A huge grin spread across his face revealing his singular spiked tooth.

"Don't do it kid," Oda mumbled. "Ignore the urge. Just walk away."

"Oda…" Hal whispered. "I think the big one is looking at us."

"Don't do it kid, don't—"

"Hey yo, guys!" The red one called out loudly to the others, a mischievous smirk on his beak. Oda groaned. "How about we take the glow-y ones?"

Hal inhaled anxiously next to him. "Oh no."

Fundi giggled. "I don't know why you guys are so worried." He said with an air of mischief himself. "They seem fun!"

"Oh, dibs on the sword!" The blue one exclaimed, much to Oda's horror.

"No! No "dibs" on the "sword", do you even know what type of sword I am?" Fundi laughed harder as Oda glowered angrily at the blue‐clad turtle reaching up to him with sparkling eyes "I am an Odachi! Not something a snot-nosed kid like you should lay a finger on— no, stop! Kid seriously, put me down. You'll only hurt yourself!"

"Oh boy!" The blue one gleamed proudly.

"Too late." Fundi laughed as the smallest turtle grabbed with him an equally joyous laugh.

"Hot soup!" The orange one yelled as he struck a pose.

"Hot soup?" Fundi laughed harder. "This kid is funny!"

"Boom!" The red one shouted as he took the Tonfas off the wall next and struck his own fierce pose. "Hahaha!"

"Please be careful, big guy." Tonfa didn't seem all that bothered by the turtle holding him up in the air like a trophy. In fact, much to Oda's dismay, the Tonfas spirit sounded like a proud older brother as the red turtle started shadow-boxing with him.

He expected Fundi to be ignorant of the consequences of children wielding powerful music weapons. But for Tonfa to also take everything in his stride without doubts was surprising… and frustrating.

Surely he could rely on Hal to be sensible. Hal was always sensible, but only because his overactive anxiety and nervousness got the better of him in pretty much every situation.

Oda watched Hal carefully while trying to keep the young turtle from cutting himself as he swung the Odachi around like a stick. He gulped dryly as the human girl took the Halberd off the wall. Then, without a second thought, strode causally towards the final and less excitable purple turtle.

Oda watched apprehensively as Hal started to panic, stuttering incoherently.

"What about you, Donnie?" She swung the Halberd teasingly in front of the turtle. "Don't you want a glow-y weapon?" She asked as if said weapon was as harmless as an inflatable toy.

"No, I'm good." Hal breathed a sigh of relief when the turtle quickly turned down the offer in favor of stroking his mechanical-advanced bo-staff like an overprotective parent. "I'll never let you go." The turtle whispered with a pout.

The human girl shrugged it off, almost as if she expected such an answer and the Halberd went limp at her side.

"Oh, thank goodness." Hal breathed out.

At least one of them is sensible, Oda couldn't help but think as he caught a glimpse of the three other turtles playing ninja by themselves.

Wait, Oda takes it back, this purple one isn't sensible… in fact he's just as clueless as the others as he ponders over a small purple mystic crystal. "This looks interesting, though." He says cheekily as he snatched the crystal and tucked it away, no doubt for later investigation.

"Doesn't he know how dangerous that thing can be!?" Oda mentally face-palmed.

Suddenly they all gathered together and an air of eagerness buzzed around them. Then the red one raised an arm and loudly declared, "Let's go save the dog thingy!"

Oda sighed for the umpteenth time. "These kids are going to give me an aneurysm and kill me all over again."

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Masterpost

Night Grafiti

Plot: Fundi watches Michelangelo as he works his magic.

Genre: Fluff, Light Hearted, Feel-Good, Original Character, AU/Canon Compliant

Notes: This piece was so much fun to write and designing some art for Miley to graffiti was exciting. I nearly drove myself crazy trying to find a name for the art though. Also, Google Docs has American English and not British English (as far as I am aware), which is really annoying for me as a British person since it keeps telling me I'm spelling words like 'Colours' and 'Favourite' wrong… when really I'm not. Sigh. Anyway...

I also drew art for this! I drew the graffiti Mikey paints! I'll add it at the end.

Please enjoy!

Idea based on this playlist and art work, (original artist mentioned in video description).

Perched on the edge of a roof of an old New York apartment, Fundi had both a perfect view of the clear night sky, adorned with a bright crescent moon; and the young black-clad turtle using his fingers to frame the wall before him. The turtle stuck his tongue out to the side as he stepped back, visualizing all the possibilities an untouched wall like this could hold. The colours. Shapes. Story. Theme. It was endless. He could do anything with this blank canvas.

Fundi smirked, leaning forward with anticipation as he noticed the young turtle's thoughtful expression turn into a bright grin, brighter than the moon itself. Michelangelo has come up with his next brilliantly artistic idea. And Fundi couldn't wait to see what the orange-masked turtle would turn his blank canvas into.

This wasn't the first time Fundi had joined Michelangelo in trekking the back alleys of New York to look for a good spot to place his mark, and it certainly won't be the last. Michelangelo wore his usual graffiting outfit: a pair of black cargo shorts and a baggy sleeveless black hoodie. Both of which were already coated in new and old splashes of neon paint. Bright pinks, blues, greens, purples, and his favourite shades of oranges.

Michelangelo shrugged off his backpack and used his foot to shift the bag closer to the wall. He never took his eyes off his canvas. Sure the lighting was bad. The building was blocking out most of the moonlight and the alley was too far back for street lamps to reach him. But that had never put Michelangelo off before. In fact, it only added to the challenge. And Michelangelo loved a challenge.

He bent down, still eyes fixed on the wall, and fumbled around to find the zip on his bag. It took him a moment, but soon he had the bag wide open, pouring out a wide assortment of colourful spray canisters, some new, some old. Finally he tore his attention away from the wall and mused over what colour to pick first.

He chose white.

A colour he didn't usually start with.

Fundi knew this was going to be special

Michelangelo got started on his art.

Fundi shifted from the edge of the roof down onto a dumpster behind the young artists. He swayed from side to side, watching keenly each stroke Michelangelo painted. The turtle stretched his arm out wide, huge circular movements, long wobbly lines, bold and thick corners, tiny details, filling the whole wall. He even had to stand on an old crate to reach as high as he could.

It was all so fascinating to the Kusari-Fundo Spirit.

Fundi remembers the first day he watched Michelangelo graffiti a wall.

He was sitting on the floor in front of Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael as they watched an old Jupiter Jim film, a film the turtles had seen multiple times before, but this was the first time Fundi had watched it. He was glued to the screen. Transfixed. Awed. The most entertained he'd been in… years? Decades? Ever?

But he didn't miss the fact that Michelangelo wasn't there. His wielder mentioned something about "getting ready to work his magic", whatever that meant, but Fundi found the film more interesting.

That was until Michelangelo walked out wearing painted cargo shorts and a sleeveless hoodie. Fundi quickly jumped, startling Tonfa who had been focused on the film as well. Eyes wide in wonder. Suddenly whatever this "magic" was that Michelangelo had mentioned was the most interesting thing to him. The turtles hardly ever wore human clothes, and when they did, it usually meant something fun was going to happen. (Unless it was their usual lazy hoodies, but that didn't count)

"I'll be back later, 'kay." The youngest sang out merrily as he slung his backpack over his shoulder.

"'Kay." Leonardo waved without taking his eyes off the screen.

"Be safe." Raphael leaned back over his beanbag, holding out his phone with his usual oldest brother concern. "Text or call us if anything happens. Don't wander too far away from the lair. Make sure to bring snacks and a bottle of water. Stay in the shadows—"

"Yeah, yeah, Ralph." Michelangelo chuckled. "It's not like I haven't done this before."

The elder turtle frowned a little, opening his mouth to say something when he felt one of Donatello's mechanical arms pat him on his shell. Raphael calmed with this motion. It was Donatello's way of telling him that everything was alright.

The red‐clad turtle playfully huffed a little before he slouched back into the beanbag with a small smile. "Have fun, Mikey."

The youngest beamed at that. Quickly running up behind his oldest brother to wrap his arms around his neck. "I will. And I'll make sure to take a pic of my art when I've finished it, 'kay?"

"Art?" Fundi muttered with a tilted head and a curious flicker in his flaming eyes.

Raphael half hugged him back with a chuckle. "Go work your magic, lil bro."

"Magic?" Fundi repeated curiously.

With a skip in his step and a wide grin on his face, the orange turtle made haste in leaving the lair, heading to top-side.

Fundi hung back a bit. Debating on what to do now. The film was very fun, but surely the turtles would watch it again, right? Whereas the mention of "magic" and "art" was new but it could also be something just equally as boring. He had no idea which option was better.

"Don?" Leonardo nudged his twin without turning away from the screen.

"Yeah, yeah. There's a tracking device on him and in his bag. I'll keep an eye on his location." The purple turtle stated lightly.

Everyone relaxed when they heard that. Fundi had no idea the turtles were so nervous about the youngest going out by himself until their tight postures fell and they all let out a sigh of relief.

Okay, so maybe going with Michelangelo was the funner option. Afterall, anything could happen top-side. The endless possibilities of trouble, mayhem and mischief—not at the expense of Michelangelo getting hurt of course— was too much to miss. His eyes glistened at the thought.

"You can go if you want." Tonfa giggled at the youngest spirit. Of course Tonfa knew what was going on in his head, Tonfa always knew what was going on in Fundi's head. "And if Oda asked, I'll just tell him you're making sure Michelangelo stays safe."

Tonfa didn't need to tell him twice.

Magic and art… there was no way it would be boring.

Right?

…..

Wrong.

It was boring.

Fundi zipped back to the Kusari-Fundo that Michelangelo wisely kept at his side, utilizing a handy ability all the spirits had: an ability to teleport to their weapons no matter how far away their weapon was. It certainly saved him from having to search through the sewers and alleys above for the orange‐clad turtle.

Only to find the turtle staring at a blank wall.

Was that it?

What was so exciting about a blank, brick, alleyway wall?

Fundi muttered his incoherent annoyances, kicking a lone can that was abandoned on the alley floor, knowing full well his foot would just pass through without affecting the crushed cylinder. But that didn't stop him from trying to do it again. And again. And again.

"I missed a Jupiter Jim film for this!" He fumed.

He hovered around, paying no attention to the turtle, wondering if he could make it back to their lair by himself. Oh, but he didn't have an ounce of a sense of direction. He'd only get lost and then have to zip back to the Kusari-Fundo. He tried to play with a stray cat, which obviously couldn't see him. Then tried to pull off some of Michaelangelo's awesome gymnastic-type moves… if Funding was not a spirit he would've broken quite a few bones trying this. But at last, nothing eased his boredom. (If only Oda was around, teasing the elder always gave him a kick.)

Finally, he flung his attention back to the wall, eager to burn the offending bricks with his frustrated flames, when his eyes caught something new. He sputtered out a gasp.

The wall, once drab and grey, with old crusty bricks barely holding themselves together, was now… magical!

Michelangelo really had worked wonders on the wall. Stunning arrays of yellows spread out across the side of the building forming large bubbles outlined with a deep sunset orange. Weaving in between the bubbles were vines of turquoise and teal, purple thorns poking out in between large blue and pink carnations. Lastly, slightly off-center was the centerpiece of the magical art: a black silhouette of a female warrior holding up a phone instead of a sword and a book instead of a shield. She looked to be ready for war.

Truly magical.

Fundi had never been more wrong.

He was glad he didn't stay in the lair.

He had never been so enthralled in his life—outside of a fight of course.

This is what art was!

That first experience of Michelangelo's art sparks a new adoration for the turtle in Fundi. Now, whenever Michelangelo threw on those old black baggy graffiting clothes Fundi felt his stomach churn with anticipation. He'd drop whatever he was doing just to follow Michelangelo out on his night graffiti trips. Each new piece of art was different. Unique. Unmatched by anyone else.

And tonight was no different.

A surreal fantasy world opened up before him. A sky of deep midnight blues and royal purples, speckled with countless starts and adorned with gigantic pink, purple and orange planets. The orange planet was the biggest, taking up most of the sky with two red rings circling it. A small black spaceship was flying along one of the rings, a trail of bright neon blue left behind. And a person in white hovered above the rocky red grounding at the forefront like a ghost. A gasmask around their face, long silver hair floating in the anti-gravity air. Colours of crimson and black outlined them in a bright glow. They were watching, waiting for the spaceship that was miles away.

Fundi couldn't take his eyes off it. The longer he stared at it the more he felt from the graffiti. The longing from the person in white. The awe of the vastness of space. The thrill of an incoming adventure as the spaceship came into view.

The art was profound.

The art was endless.

The art was magical.

Only Michelangelo could've painted such a piece.

Looking at it, Fundi felt himself grow closer to the turtle more and more.

This is his new favourite of Michelangelo's art.

Fundi approached slowly. He reached out to drape his arm over the young turtle only for it to pass right through him. Michelangelo shuddered as he whipped out his phone and took a pic of his work.

"What should I call it?" The young turtle asked absentmindedly, not realizing that there was someone listening to him.

"Hmm?" Fundi pondered. "Space wonder? The orange planet? Awaiting adventure? Planetary journey? Orbital?—"

"Orbital ghost!" Both Fundi and Michelangelo said at the same time.

Fundi gasped. "I knew I had telepathy!"

ROTTMNT: SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Masterpost

That's not usual.

Plot: Oda is up alone while everyone is sleeping when Leonardo does something unusual.

Genre: Fluff/Slight Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Bittersweet, Family-Feels, Original Character, AU/Cannon Compliant

Notes: This was meant to be a much shorter fluff drabble, but it ended up being over 2,000 words. Oh well, this is my first short fic for Spirits Within The Weapons (SWTW). I'm not planning on writing a full fic for SWTW but I am hoping to write quite a few drabble pieces like this.

I hope you enjoy reading.

Oda lifted the Odachi in front of his eyes, admiring the sharp blade glistening under the pale blue glow of his ghostly form. Then he frowned. It wasn't perfect. It could still be sharper. He lowered the sword down again and started meticulously running it along the whetstone. Slow, precise, skilful. He repeated this calming action a few more times before lifting the blade to examine it again. His focused expression lifted into a pleased slim grin. It was sharpened to perfection. There wasn't anything this Odachi couldn't cut now.

If only he could rely on the weapon's wielder to care for the blade himself. But then again, it was Oda's obsessive need to not see the weapon go blunt that made young Leonardo take for granted the need to sharpen it himself. Instead, the turtle found it magically sharpened the next day and never questioned it. In other words, Oda had spoiled Leonardo. He'll probably regret that in the future. But for now, sharpening the Odachi was his favorite pastime while all the others slept.

Each of the young turtles had turned in for the night, having had a very exciting day of chasing down a magician hippo and the self-imposed "greatest foe of the teenage mutant loser turtles"… a talking worm. Warren Stone and Hypno-Potamus. Warren Stone and Hypno-Potamus. He mustn't take on the habits of the youngsters to forget the names of those that pose a danger—however slim that danger may be— to innocent civilians. Oda was wiser, nobler and more honorable than that to forget anyone's names. Though he will excuse the young turtles for doing so, they were still children after all.

Fundi on the other hand had no excuse. The spirit occupying the Kusari-Fundo may look and act young, but Oda knew that he was ancient one way or another. He may not have lived long on earth (Oda finds that Fundi turns into a mindset of a young child when he's caught in a flashback of old, old memories), but he has been a spirit for too long not to have matured during that time. Tonfa seems to encourage Fundi's youthfulness though. And Oda doesn't like to disagree with the Tonfas inhibitor. Not because he's currently the size of a huge half-alligator-snapping-turtle-half-human mutant, but because Tonfa has done a lot to help Fundi deal with his flashback episodes. Tonfa knows Fundi. Oda knows Tonfa. And so Oda will trust Tonfa when he says to leave the fiery spirit to live a youthful lifestyle. But that also means Tonfa cannot complain when Oda repremans Fundi for his sometimes too destructive behavior.

Thankfully both spirits were in a sleep-like state. Being that the spirits don't actually sleep, the closest they can get to such an act is to withdraw back into their weapons and enter a space only the individual can access. Like an inner mind or a dreamscape. It's restful in itself. Peaceful and safe. And it also leaves Oda time alone to mediate, practice his sword-skills and sharpen the blade of the Odachi.

He was blissfully alone.

In the rarely silent lair.

Peaceful.

Relaxing.

Still.

Footsteps.

…?

Footsteps?

Oda turned to look where the soft sounds of footsteps where coming from. If it had been anyone else they probably wouldn't have noticed the slowly approaching sound and could've been unaware of an impending attack. But this was Oda. Oda had honed all his senses to an impeccable level. Oda had also memorized the sounds and scents of all four turtles, their rat-man father and their human friend.

So even before the culprit behind the footsteps was within sight, Oda knew who it was.

Leonardo plodded into the kitchen unknowingly passing Oda on the way. Usually Oda would've moved fast to put the Odachi back where Leonardo last left it, however, right now he knew there was no need for such haste. The huge black bags under the teenagers eyes, the slump in his shoulders, endless yawning, and defeated aura told Oda all he needed to know. Leonardo's insomnia had gotten the better of him tonight.

"Oh Leonardo"

Oda followed his wielder to the kitchen, sitting himself on a stool with his fingers fidgeting restlessly on the table. What he would do to be able to—no, thinking about such wasn't helpful to anyone. He couldn't communicate with nor touch the young turtles in any way, so wishing so would be meaningless. If he so wanted to he could dwell on such later, after Leonardo was better. Leonardo takes priority now. Not that there was anything he could do.

Although…. He could pick up the Odachi and wave it around to make his presence known. Leonardo would be able to see the weapon flying around the air by itself… and then would probably scream. Oda would effectively be making the child believe he was seeing things in his sleepless state. Frightening the poor thing to death. Then, even if the others did believe Leonardo about a floating Odachi, or even if Oda shows the others by making it float in front of them too, ghost hunters would be called. Donatello would be making anti-spirits weapons. Panic. Fear. More sleepless nights. Oda wouldn't be helping anyone that way. Plus it'll be a terrible first introduction.

He was overthinking it.

He needed to meditate.

Clear his head.

But first Leonardo.

Usually Leonardo would make himself a cup of tea and either carry it into Donatello's lab to sit and watch his twin work, or sit at the kitchen table drinking it idly and then wander into either Raphael's or Michaelangelo's room and sleep there. Curiously though, tonight, Leonardo decided to make himself a coffee. That's not usual. Then the young turtle stumbled with the hot mug into the living quarters, flicking on the projector to an old Jupiter Jim flick they've all watched a zillion times on an almost silent volume, and slouched comfortably into one of the well-used beanbags. Next, he slipped off his blue mask and sipped the hot coffee, mindless of what was on the screen. Very unusual.

Oda stood behind Leonardo, one eyeridge raised suspiciously, pondering over what this unusual action meant. Steady a saddened frown formed on his features as he slowly figured out what was going on with his wielder.

Leonardo was determined not to go back to sleep. Coffee and a film to stay awake instead of tea and the comfort of his brothers to fall asleep. This wasn't just insomnia. This was nightmares.

Oda knew all too well how disorienting, unnerving and isolating nightmares can be. He couldn't blame the youngster for not wanting to close his eyes for the rest of the night. But to not go to his brothers… that was unusual.

He flicked his gaze over the clock on the wall. The others won't be up for many hours. He knew Leonardo knew this and yet the turtle made no move to wake anyone up. The nightmare must've been about his brothers in some way. The fear of losing them by his mistakes? Of them hating him? Abandonment? Hurt? Guilt? The list was endless. Obviously, Leonardo didn't want his brothers to know about his nightmares. Not yet anyway. That was concerning.

What could Oda do to help though?

He was an unseeable, untouchable spirit.

He was…

No, he wasn't useless.

For sure Leonardo would've been much more hurt—or worse— if Oda hadn't been watching his back.

But right now, while the child was scared and alone, Oda felt useless.

He settles on sitting on the beanbag next to the young turtle, keeping an eye on him like he always did. Maybe in the still of the lair Leonardo would sense his presence… wishful thinking.

It was rare for all four brothers to be asleep at the same time. Leonardo usually did stay awake late before going to bed, and, with the help of a few useful methods, his insomnia wasn't as big a problem as it could be. He had plenty of restless nights, sure, he'd gone three days without sleep at one point—Oda would've strangled the young turtle during those nights if he could, or maybe just hug him— but with tea, help from his brothers and ASMR, he had learned ways to overcome a fair few of his restless nights.

Donatello was the other with sleeping problems. Honestly, if it wasn't for how similar the two can be despite their countless differences, Oda would never have pointed them out as twins. But at least with Donatello it wasn't insomnia keeping him awake. No, it was hyperfixation. His machines. Computers. Ideas. Designs. Plans. Games even. Once the purple-turtle got fixated on something, that was it. Hooked… for days… and nights. Unhealthy so. Okay, so maybe Donatello was worse than Leonardo on that front. At least Leonardo wasn't the one keeping himself awake, his insomnia did that to him. Donatello just didn't want to sleep when something else seemed so much more appealing.

Miraculously though, Donatello was too knackered to stay awake any longer and welcomed sleep with ease. Wrapped up in an extra soft, weighted blanket. Probably still snoring lightly since the last time Oda did his usual night checks on them all. That's one less person for Oda to think about at least.

Raphael and Michelangelo were easy when it came to sleep. The pair were diligent in keeping a healthy sleep schedule. They knew the value and importance of sleep, and even if they struggled on some occasions to get to sleep, or nightmares woke them up, they gave themselves a nice breather before trying again. Which usually worked a treat. And if it didn't work, snuggling up with one or more of their siblings always worked.

So only two out of four were a handful when it came to bedtime. That's not too bad. It could be worse.

It was worse for Leonardo right now though.

Hours pass by. Three Jupiter Jim and one Lou Jitsu film later, three cups of coffee, (which is a alot coming from someone who typically did not enjoy coffee much), and half a tub of neapolitan ice cream later and Leonardo was still alone. His brothers will wake up soon enough, but the lair was still deafeningly quiet. At least that's what Leonardo knew.

In reality, halfway through the second film, Fundi and Tonfa woke up. Fundi, determined to get up to his same old antics to annoy Oda, stormed in loudly with a mischievous fire in his eyes. However, the fire quickly dimmed when he spotted Leonardo sitting solely on the beanbag inches away from the huge screen. Oda shushed him and Fundi smirked.

"It's not like he can hear me, y'know." The Michelangelo look-alike said playfully.

"Insomnia?" Tonfa mused as he ignored Fundi to sit on a beanbag on the other side of Leonardo. "Wait, no…. Nightmares." He whispered and he hunched up his shoulders. Tonfa may not have any memories before being a spirit, and spirits can't get nightmares, so he doesn't know what nightmares feel like, but he has seen the effects on the brothers. He hates seeing anyone in such pain and torment. It honestly breaks Tonfa's heart to see such a fun-loving, boisterous teenager suffering like this.

Oda knew the feeling.

If they could, Oda knows Fundi and Tonfa would've stopped at nothing to help Leonardo, but they couldn't. So they sat with the lonesome teenager hoping he would somehow feel their presence and be somewhat comforted while they all waited for the others to wake up.

It's the quietest Fundi has been in… years? Decades? Ever? Sadly, this time, quiet wasn't what was needed.

Not long later, Michelangelo woke up to start breakfast and Leonardo wasted no time barging after the orange brother while tying his mask back on. With his usual playful tone, he bombarded the youngest with a request for pancakes and fruit for breakfast. Oda spotted the quick glance Michelangelo gave Leonardo, head to foot, knowing the observant orange turtle was piecing together what had happened during the night. His eyes flicked to the coffee jar Leonardo had accidently left open on the side. The bags under his eyes. The credits from a film on the big screen.

Michelangelo didn't hesitate to make the pancakes and slice up the fruit.

Raphael joined not long later and caught on just as quickly. He gave Leonardo the mission to drag Donatello from bed, which he completed quickly by dragging his twin and half the bed sheets into the kitchen moments later. Their father walked in not long after.

The spirits also joined them in the kitchen for breakfast, just as they usually did. Fundi sat like a cat on top of the kitchen counters—despite how many times Oda has told him not to. Tonfa leaned against the side of the fridge, as far out of the way as he could. And Oda stood in the doorway, watching with a small almost unnoticeable smile as the four brothers and their father chatted away. There was still one of them missing, but that's a problem for another day.

As he watched, all Oda could think about was that, even if he couldn't do anything to help Leonardo himself, he's thankful that Leonardo had brothers who do care about him. Who notice such small things in him. Who will give Leonardo time before asking questions. And will be patient and understanding when he does talk.

"He's in good hands," Oda muttered to himself. He choked back a chuckle as the blue-clad turtle flung his pancake like a Frisby at the still half-asleep Donatello only to miss and quickly find a few slices of banana slap him on the face in retaliation. "Back to the usual."

HAL AND DONNIE

And Shelldon

Finally!

Hal watching Donnie work. Full art.
Art without background
Art without background and screens
Background art
Original sketch

After Hal got his Halberd back from Fundi he clung to it for weeks, only forming half of himself while watching Donnie.

Once he wa comfortable, he abandoned the halberd completely and just hangs in Donnie's lab whether he's there or not.

Hal gets best if both worlds: to learn about technology without anyone talking to or noticing him at all, as well not being too alone or lonely. He also cherishes the peace and quiet he gets when the four turtles and three other spirits go out.

Hal was very nervous of Shelldon at first, especially since he was scared the A.I bot would find a way to see or hear him, and thus telling Donnie of his existence.

Hal knows Donnie isn’t keen on mystic or magic related things, so he thinks it's better if Donnie never finds out about him incase Donnie is either creeped out by him or hates him for hanging around for so long without Donnie knowing.

Thankfully though, after months of skirting around Shelldon in a panic, Hal realises that the bot cannot see nor hear him so he relaxes and goes about doing his own thing.

Little does Hal know, Shelldon can see and hear all the spirits but only Oda knkws this and managed to convince Shelldon not to tell anyone.

Its now a common scene to see Hal keenly watching Donnie in whatever he's doing, always surprised by the marvels of modern technology.

If the other spirits need to talk to Hal... they know where to find him.

I have been working on this drawing for ages, and then I got ill and couldn't finish it for a week. But I'm well now and managed to finished the background quickly so I can post it today.

Personally I'm terrible at backgrounds, (I mostly avoid doing backgrounds if I can) but I decided to put a bit more effort into it this time. I'm not sure whether I like the background I did or not... but decided to post it anyone without thinking too much. Oh well.

I decided also to included the original sketch work, Hal and Donnie without the background, as well as the background on itself, since I spent so much time on this. I do feel the background crowds the picture too much, so that's why there are different versions.

It was my brothers idea to have Donnie playing Tetris inbetween his usual work. 😆

HAL

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Check out Part 1 here

After spending weeks with the young turtle weilders, Fundi, Oda and Tonfa finally decided to go get Hal.

While their weilders were sleeping— it took them a while to find a day when neither Leo or Donnie were awake— they seem to alternate sleepless nights—— the spirits sneaked back to Draxum's lab and grabbed the Halberd that was left behind.

When they got back to the lair Hal wouldn't come out for over a week.

Eventually Fundi got bored and forced Hal out.

Hal contuined to sulk afterwards when Fundi refused to left him back into the Halberd.

Once Hal started to explore more though, he found Donnie to be really interesting and stuck to him like a shadow.

Unlike the other spirits, Hal decided not to form himself with any of Donnies tech or gear. He prefures all natural.

The spirits stashed the Halberd somewhere hidden in Donnies lab— so far no one has found it.

Hal was suprised by the computers, tech and even simple mundane electrical devices, leading the other spirits to wonder just how old Hal really was— secretly Oda also hadn't known what a computer, phone or even a microwave was.

Hal really enjoys watching Donnie work, whether it's creating new tech or playing games, Hal likes watching Donnie hyperfixate.

Hal can tell when Donnie is over/under simulated quicker than anyone— even Donnie himself sometimes.

Hal doesn't mind that Donnie doesn't use the Halberd. He actually prefures the tech-bo Donnie uses anyway.

Sheldon kinda spooks Hal a little

I finally got around to drawing Hal! This drawing surprisenly didn't take as long as the others, but the next one is going to be an awful lot harder. Still, I think I'm getting better at drawing the turtles.

Fundi Part 2

Click here for Part 1 of Fundi.

Somehow knows exactly what Mikey is thinking at all times. Which can get really creepy.

Insists one day he will be able to communicate telepathically with Mikey.

Fundi takes no time to practice with the weapons he inhabits, making him the only spirit who cannot use his own weapon.

However, when Mikey weilds the Kusari-Fundo, Mikey and Fundi are the most in sync with each other.

He found out he can skateboard if he stands on the board with the Kusari-Fundo between his feet and the skateboard he normally couldn't stand on.

Fundi can form himself with normal eyes, like the others, but prefures to keep his bright firey eyes.

However, when something is really wrong with him— whether he's suffering another flash of memory or is stressed (see P1 for more)— the fire in his eyes will die down to either a tiny flicker or even go out complete, depending on how stressed he is.

Fundi will encourage Mikey— or anyone for that matter— to do something stupid or dangerous or chaotic.

Ultimate prankster.

Cannot be left alone. Ever.

Oda and Tonfa are glad Mikey can't see or hear Fundi, they'd be scared for the young turtle's saftey otherwise.

Honestly, there is nothing Fundi can do at this point that will surprise Oda. Fundi knows this so tries his utmost to surprise Oda... It hasn't worked... yet.

Tonfa can never find it in him to tell Fundi off or yell at him for any trouble he causes.

Oda will glare silently at Fundi until the awkwardness gets to Fundi and he caves and apologises for whatever he did.

Oda has no problem in finding creative punishments for Fundi.

Oda finds it all too easy to find something Fundi hates, keeping it in mind for a time when he can use it against Fundi.

Punishments such as: being forced to sit next to Spliter and watch all the dramas/adverts he watches; forced to clean the Kusari-Fundo; forced to meditate while the turtles are having fun— fun he wants to be involved in.

I will do a post on Hal and Donnie next since I feel I'm neglecting Hal.

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS.

Story idea info here.

Antics the Spirits get up to while the turtles are sleeping...

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS.

Honestly, Oda doesn't know why he even bothers to mediate knowing that Fundi can't last five minutes without causing some trouble/bothering him.

Tonfa has to use the Tonfas to flip the pages of the comic as the Spirits cannot interact with anything other than the weapons they inhabit.

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Hal has none of his previous memories but believes that if he forgot them so easily then that means they weren't that important to him in the first place. *Shrug*

Due to Donnie leaving him behind, Hal remains formless.

Hal is reclusive, withdrawn and sarcastic.

Hal spends a lot of time twirling and vibrating the spiked ball at the end of his chain in his formless self.

He finds Fundi and Tonfa to be too loud for him, but he gets along with Oda who is more than willing to chill in silence.

When the young turtles took the other weapons but left Hal behind Hal didn't mind much. Rather he saw this as a well needed break from Fundi's and Tonfa's excessive talking.

Hal has no sense of time, sometimes days feel like hours and sometimes hours feel like days.

Hal is more than happy to let his blade go blunt.

Hal doesn't hate the turtles for leaving him behind.

Oda is the only one Hal could talk to about his insecurities.

Hal would feel guilty when he panicked Tonfa.

Does Hal miss the other spirits now that he's alone…? Maybe. A little. A teeny tiny part of him does wish he wasn't alone but he never acknowledges this part of him.

Kusari-Fundo

Nicknames: Fundi / Kuso / Funari

AU info here

(Or probably in better terms, more Canon Compliant than AU..?)

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Unpredictable, wild and hectic, Fundi is always eager to get into some action, sometimes going a little too out of control for Mikey.

However, Fundi eventually settles down once he finds out that Mickey is also kinda all over the place with his gymnastic-type fighting and fun-spirited nature.

Fundi loves pranking the other spirits and causing trouble.

Fundi loves it when Mikey goes into Dr Delicate-Touch mode.

Don't let anyone ever tell him to put out his fire or dim his light, or Fundi will not hesitate to whoop their arse.

Fundi's formless self consists of a flaming head appearing on the spiked ball at the end. Before taking on Mikey's form he used to whizz around but could only get as far as his chain would allow, since the end of the kusari-fundo was attached to the weapons wall. He hated being tied down.

Fundi doesn't mind what Mikey uses him for, as long as he gets to do something and not sit around all day.

Fundi is the only one who can somewhat be heard and seen by the turtles, but this only happens when he's super hyped. All the turtles see is a raging face of fire laughing maniacally.

Fundi respects/fears Oda. Especially when Oda goes quiet because then Fundi knows he has pushed Oda too far.

Fundi loves chatting with Tonfa, to Oda's and Hal's annoyance.

Fundi was the first spirit to take on his wielder's form. Tonfa was next and, reluctantly— and only because he missed having a body— Oda took on Leo's form last.

Fundi could never understand Hal's passiveness and reluctance to do anything.

Fundi doesn't have any previous memories and the others are a little too scared to find out who he was before he was attached to the Kusari-Fundo.

However, Fundi does get flashes of old memories occasionally, and by his reaction the others know these aren't good memories.

These flashes of old memories cause panic attacks, nightmares and make him act uncharacteristically. However, he often forgets the flash of memory soon after.

Sometimes Fundi goes suddenly quiet and still — worrying Tonfa who knows that this uncharacteristic behavior of his is due to something weighing heavy on him.

Fundi talks opening to both Tonfa and Oda. He knows that Tonfa offers support, while Oda offers blunt answers. Both are very helpful.

Like Tonfa, Fundi sees the others as his brothers. He enjoys being seen as the youngest, as this often means he can get away with trouble.

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Tonfas

Nicknames: Tonfa / Tonton / Onas

AU info here

(Or probably in better terms, more Canon Compliant than AU..?)

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Tonfa has no memories before being attached to the Tonfas, but is not bothered by this.

It was Tonfa's idea to name themselves after their weapons, — since none of them but Oda knew their original names— and is also the one who gave everyone nicknames.

Tonfa is the most similar to his wielder Raph out of all the weapons.

Tonfa likes to know the ideas, thoughts and feelings of his wielder so that he can work better with them.

Any wielder that doesn't have strong ideals for good, or would rather use the Tonfas to hurt others he hates.

Tonfa's formless self consists of red particles and shielding appearing around the tonfas. Before he took on Raph's form he used to enjoy forming little shapes out of the particles coming off the tonfas.

Tonfa really loves Raph.

At first Raph's eagerness to fight was off-putting to Tonfa, since he prefers peaceful methods, but he realized that Raph is a big softy despite it all.

Tonfa is very protective of his wielder, and because Raph is very protective of his brothers, Tonfa is too.

Tonfa considers Oda, Fundi, and Hal to be his brothers.

Tonfa is the most upset that Hal was left behind but also knows that Hal himself doesn't mind too much.

Sensitive to other's feelings and thoughts, Tonfa will do all he can to help and can become quite panicky if he can't.

Hal used to panic Tonfa a lot with how insecure the halberd was.

Tonfa is never insecure about himself or his role.

Despite them all knowing that Oda is probably the oldest, they all look to Tonfa for guidance and support, even Oda.

Tonfa loves savage Raph and mind Raph.

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Odachi

Nicknames : Oda / Chi / Ochi

AU info here

(Or probably in better terms, more Canon Compliant than AU..?)

ROTTMNT : SPIRITS WITHIN THE WEAPONS

Oda is the only spirit that has all his old memories, but he never tells anyone his past. Like the others, he decided to adopt the weapons name as his own, despite knowing his original name.

Although the other spirits don't know their ages, they all know that Oda is a lot older than them.

Oda is stern, calm and collected, and mysterious. However, his firm attitude comes across as him not caring about what others think or feel, when really he is super intuitive to others thoughts and feelings but pretends otherwise.

Oda is more than willing to listen to and help the other spirits with their problems and insecurities, but his answers and solutions—although helpful— are often too blunt.

Oda thinks Leo is too child-like to wield a dangerous weapon and mystic power such as the Odachi and portals.

Oda deliberately made it hard for Leo to use the Odachi, wanting to test Leo to see if he was worthy to use the Odachi.

Eventually, Oda sees Leo's determination to fight for his family. This determination and stubbornness to give up on using the mystic portal abilities, despite multiple failures, is what changes Oda's mind.

Overtime Oda learns to trust Leo with the Odachi, knowing that, although it may not seem like it, the young turtle knows what he's doing.

Although it took a while, Oda started to really enjoy Leo's sense of humor, even going as far as to laugh at his more stupider jokes.

Oda constantly threatens the other spirits if they ever mention how he likes the young turtles wielding him— although they all know he never goes through with his threats.

Oda is the only one who can keep Fundi in check.

Oda doesn't talk much, but the others can hear his sighs and eye-rolls miles away. He's full of eyebrow raises, huffs and disappointed headshakes.

Hums old tunes a lot.

Oda's formless self consists of blue lightning whizzing around the blade and brilliant blue eyes appearing from the lightning. He can whip the sword around by itself but can't access any portals or teleportation.

Oda hates it when his blade goes blunt. Before he was able to take on Leo's form he stressed about the condition of his blade, but now that he has a form he can sharpen it himself when the others are asleep.

All the other spirits rely on Oda, trusting him with their lives as well as all their problems and insecurities.

Oda loves to meditate and train, and while the others are sleeping, he can sometimes be seen by the other spirits practicing with the Odachi.

Although he denies it, Oda is the only one who has tried multiple times to reach out to Leo, often to stop the young turtle form doing something stupid, but alas, they can't touch or communicate with the real world.

The other spirits know Oda is soft for Leo, and secretly they all wish they could interact with the turtles just so that they could see Oda talk with Leo like they know he wants to.

Oda often talks about old teas he used to love drinking but can't anymore (the only time he speaks of his past) and secretly enjoys watching Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitus with the turtles—though will deny it when someone mentions it.

Thinks of Hal the most but knows that Hal probably doesn't think of them much.
