Handy reference chart showing the difference between blossoms (ume/plum, momo/peach, sakura/cherry, anzu/apricot, ringo/apple). Note the colors, how the buds sit on branches, and of course petals shapes.
Apricot and apple are veeeery rare as kimono/obi patterns. Morover, what I usually simply call “plum” (ume) is in exactly the Prunus mume (or Japanese apricot/plum) and come with red/white/pinkish flowers.
I search for these often. So it might be helpful to have them in a single document. I don’t know if it is stated somewhere, but I myself interpret the ages as those the companions have when you first meet them.
These are the ages as stated by the SWTOR Encyclopedia:
Trooper Aric Jorgan 30 Elara Dorne 26 Tanno Vik 34 (enlistment records suspected of falsification) Yuun 28 M1-4X -

Hi! I live your art so much and I was wondering if you have any tips on shading?
Two of the biggest things you want to think about are 1. your light source and 2. form shadows vs cast shadows — which your light-source will dictate.
Form shadows are created by the light source directly hitting the object and are generally softer. Cast shadows are the shadows cast from one object onto another and generally have sharper edges. This contrast between sharp and soft shadows is what’s going to make your drawing really come to life and the shadows read like they’re supposed to
Then, to further define shading, two things to think about are core darks and reflected light. Core darks are the darkest part of the shadow within the form shadow, and reflected light is what it sounds like, light from other objects that has bounced back.
here's a visual representation of that from here
This is all pretty technical and art fundamentals-y but you can easily put it into practice in your own stuff even if what you're making is more cartoony than realistic
see I drew a lovely deku with this technique
hi!! if it's ok to ask, which brushes you use? your drawings look so soft and clean

Have fun with this!! Love you all!
i finally finished it!! i wish to explain her quirk but i’m too tired dammit. best explanation i can give is that it goes from normal waves to tidal, depending on how much she uses it.
biggest drawback: her narcolepsy worsens and it triggers sudden sleep attacks.
I FINALLY MADE A REFERENCE FOR THEM!!

Splinter's reference.
❗Аdditionally:
...In the neon lights of the 21st century, in the heart of technological Japan, Hamato Yoshi, known as Splinter, is not just a mutated rat. He is the last descendant of the ancient Hamato clan, the guardians of knowledge about youkai, spirits and demons inhabiting the hidden world. Splinter is a bridge between two realities, the keeper of the balance between ancient traditions and modern life...
🦎 A brief description of the character:
Yoshi understands well how to be a father and how to be a teacher, so he has two behaviors around his sons ^^
Father: For the four turtle brothers, Splinter is the epitome of caring and wisdom. He teaches them to value family ties, respect elders, and honor the memory of their ancestors. Hidden among the skyscrapers, his house has the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese home, where the spirit of wabi-sabi is intertwined with modern comfort. Splinter makes them a fragrant miso soup, tells them stories about heroes and youkai, teaches them to understand the intricacies of the tea ceremony, instilling love for their culture. He is not just a father, but a mentor in life, helping them find their way in a difficult world.
Teacher: As a sensei, Splinter is strict and demanding, like the tsukumogami spirit embodying the wisdom of old things. He teaches turtles the art of ninjutsu, passing on to them the secret techniques of the Hamato clan. Splinter understands that in a world where youkai are becoming a reality, katana and shuriken mastery is not just a sport, but a necessity for survival. He instills in them discipline, concentration, and the ability to control their emotions so that they can withstand any challenges.
He knows perfectly well in which situations he needs to be taught a lesson like Sensei, and in which situations he just hugs and comforts like a father. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
🦎 Connection with the element:
Metal (you can see the hieroglyph "metal" on the hilt of his Gendito¹): Splinter is associated with the mythical element of metal. This bond reflects Splinter's indestructible spirit, his unwavering principles, and his willingness to protect his family at all costs. Metal is a symbol of his inner strength, perseverance and devotion. He is a shield protecting his sons from the darkness that is awakening in their strange world.

i’ll post it here because it’s nothing inappropriate, but
i took a lot of time making this and i think it came out very well, so i’m happy to share this, and this will apply for my blog @jules-mixtape !
Super quick drawing I did, took me about 50 minutes (short time for me lol) so it's not perfect or polished. When I first started they looked a lot alike but I guess I got lost along the way???
Also I take requests if you willing to pay $2 via Cashapp (won't be incredibly complex or to a t of what you asked for) (I'm so desperate for money 🙏🙏🙏 I have 80+ dollars in Christmas presents I still need to buy but I have less than two dollars to my name right now LMAO)
Anyways I plan to do more of this soon, I want to get my digital style down more and practice rendering as well as translating realism into my style+ I've been slowly listening to the Carrie audiobook. I'll probably draw so I can finish it

...Is that...a Reference Sheet?! ( ・∀・)
... Finally started at least sketching out .... probably take some days to finish...
I'm praying....at least posting this will pressure me into finishing it (*^ω^)
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
Binya and the husbands (they are all transgener)
an alien again (also designed by my brother :o)) had a rly hard time making this look right 💔 the problem wasn't even the many arms but the antennas byeee 😭😭
This isn't really a request, but how tall do you think mini bots are, particularly mtmte Swerve? Like people will write fics and what not with him, but I still have a hard time picturing his size next to a human! Plz help!! ;-;
I actually thought about this for a long time, and because i have way too much time on my hands, I did a bit of digging. According the the official TF Wiki, Megatron is 38 feet tall, which gives us a good starting point. Now, it’s impossible to say for certain because every artist draws the characters differently, but I think this picture is probably an accurate depiction of Megatron and Tailgate’s height difference.
It looks like Megs might be leaning down just a tad, but we’ll say that his midway height is about at his hips, which would be 19ft high. Since Tailgate looks to be around half that, I’m going to ball park his height at about 9.5 feet.
Here we see that Swerve, Rewind and Tailgate are roughly the same height, so I’m going to assume that they’re also around 9.5-10 feet tall.
Rung and Pipes, on the other hand seem to have a good bit of height on the other three, coming up to about chest height on some of the other bots. If we say Tailgate is about 9.5 feet tall, then Rung and Pipes appear to be around 15-17 feet.
So taking all that into account, I imagine that a human is going to hit somewhere between Swerve’s thighs and his hips depending on how tall they are.
