The thing about MCA Kuroha being defeated was not caused by power of “friendship”, as many have interpreted. He was defeated because of these reasons (aka, fatal mistakes):

He was so sure Marry would reset timeline, so he wanted to gamble and see if he doesn’t have to kill them immediately, like he did all the times before, because Marry always resets timeline

The second reason was that he decided not to kill them immediately because it was fun to him

Third reason was because when he found out that Marry won’t reset time, he started to panic instead of just killing anyone who was near him (because Marry would certainly reset timeline, if anyone died)

Fourth reason and main reason he was defeated was because he was forced to fulfill not just one wish, but two. First wish being Kenjirou’s. He wanted to see Ayaka again and he saw her. Second wish being Konoha’s, because he went to his body so he was forced to fulfill Konoha’s wish of saving Hiyori (correct subs would have been very useful, cause Crunchy’s aren’t really correct, as you can see, so thanks kidotsunbomi for retranslating this part)

If i am not mistaken, he said he would disappear if he had fulfilled any wish, but, he also needed a wish in order to continue existing, so he forced Marry to reset timeline so he would still be “alive.” But that was also his downlfall, because Konoha didn’t disappear inside of him, and his final wish was that he wanted to save Hiyori. So, Kuroha was forced to grant Konoha’s wish immediately, which caused him to disappear.

“Damn it, damn it, i don’t want to disappear*. Wish, make a wish!”

* i think he said: “i don’t want to disappear!“and that part was excluded from crunchy’s subs.

And then Haruka said:

"If you need a wish, i have one. The other me’s  final wish (Konoha)”

He didn’t count that the wish he would get would be the wish which caused his downfall, since he was forced to fulfill it immediately. Basically, that’s why Kuroha in anime was defeated so easily, and to me, it was the most logical way for him to disappear.

But, now people are confused about how both Haruka and Hiyori are alive. Well, that’s because the one who became substitute for Hiyori’s life was Kenjirou’s snake (aka Kuroha, aka Wide Eyed Snake, aka whatever his name was… Clearing snake???). Kenjirou stayed in Daze with Ayaka, so he didn’t return to this world. Instead of him, Hiyori was returned. Haruka’s snake is still in his body, and after everything was over, Haruka had his  (actually Konoha’s) body back, but Konoha’s personality is destroyed. Basically, Konoha is dead, but now Haruka is taking his place instead (As seen from Summertime record PV).

I’m gonna try to explain about Ayano and Shintaro too. They always had a snake so they were always able to live and leave the Daze (Ayano was afraid to leave, so she didn’t EDIT: actually, she was afraid to leave because she wanted to trap at least one snake inside of her and not leave the daze because that would put her siblings in danger). Shintaro was able to enter daze because he died on august 15. But he could also leave. He got his eye powers because Marry gave her own snake to him the first time tragedy happened. As far as i’ve gathered, if someone died on august 15th in the specific time in the evening (sunset nightfall time), they would enter Azami’s world daze. If they were alone, they can leave. But, if they enter in pair with someone else, only one is able to leave. That is why, Shintaro and Ayano, were always able to leave.

I don’t know, but for me, this ending had the most logical end, so i am satisfied with it. The only thing i wished was that they had put instead of empty locations - images of them playing around and something after the events of the anime. Everything else was completely fine for me. Personally, i would have been bored if the timeline resetted, because that wouldn’t mean anything, and it would just still tell that they could never save anyone they loved, that they couldn’t do anything for them. This story is about moving on, but it is also about rewarding the people who suffered so much, by giving them what they all wished for (which is also a form of moving on, because now they can be together, finally). A proper happy ending where everyone was alive (Kido, Kano, Seto, Momo, Marry, Takane, Haruka, Shintaro, Hibiya, Hiyori, Ayano, well, the only person who died was Konoha). Marry’s quote at the end,though, makes me think that after they die of old age, she will reset time again, so she could be with them, again. She is existence which is abnormal, and she found people who accepted her for who she is. So yeah, i enjoyed it, and i thank Jin for making it in the first place. Shaft could have done better job on animation, but still, i didn’t care much, because Kagerou project got anime, and i was satisfied with it.

disjointed yi sang ramble (canto iv spoilers kind of):

okay I know chapter 4 isn't over yet BUT I can't stop thinking about how the big 000 ids for gregor and sinclair in their chapters (and tbh I think this can be applied to rime shank rodya as well) have them conforming to what people expect of/want from them while yi sang just. Becomes Dongbaek because he no longer has a place in her world and she has no place in his... all they have is the sweet-smelling sense of nostalgia...

it reminds me a lot of this passage from the wings:

additionally, while I think the entire league embodies the wife character to some extent, the direct moments of conflict where she lashes out feel the most. dongbaek to me. also interesting to note that she's the only league member he's been able to properly Fight so far.

also, since this rant was inspired by his new id: "once all these flowers have been stained red only then will "I" bloom as well" to me reads as him trying to destroy his past in an effort to regain his sense of self. hm.

also also I find the fragrance aspect of the bloom ego so interesting when you consider that the protag in the wings sniffs his wife's perfume to remember her....

same anon lol. follow up from my previous ask (I started thinking about oz and the original team more):

augh. Thinking about laurent genuinely trying to connect with makoto and failing. Thinking about him watching abbie and cynthia connect with makoto effortlessly, and feeling left out. Thinking about him talking to oz about it, and realising that oz knows nothing about makoto at all. laurent getting angry, because even he knows makoto better, and suddenly feels responsible for him. imagining laurent blaming oz, blaming shi-won because they "made" him this way, even though by now he's responsible for his own actions. I'm imagining shi-won specifically calling him out on this, because she's been there the longest. how even though he suffered, at some point he has to accept that his decisions were his own. and that arguably, makoto was put through far, far worse things than he was.

laurent empathising with makoto more and more and starting to feel kind of angry on his behalf, but realising that by now there's very little he can do... he can resent the remaining members of the original team confidence all he wants, but they've been so good to him. they're old friends but they're also walking wounds. he can blame shi-won for teaching dorothy, for bringing him to dorothy. he can blame oz for giving him makoto to work with. he can blame them, but it's not going to change anything. shi-won at least stuck by his side, so she's easier to forgive. oz is harder to forgive, even if he gave up everything for dorothy, for laurent. laurent is splitting hairs here, because he still blames them less than he blames himself.

I think once laurent has this realisation, he doesn't really know what to do with himself. he still does cons and stuff because he probably feels like anything else would be boring, but I think he now kind of wants to shoot oz (not shi-won, because like I said, her sticking directly by his side all those years makes it easier for him to "forgive" her). he gives himself reasons to hurt oz in these cons because he doesn't know when to quit a bad habit when he's spiralling. oz notices, but he doesn’t say anything. he does whatever laurent asks of him, because he's right. I don't think oz feels bad for laurent, however (I think he just feels bad for makoto at this point, because he's already processed most of his grief and self-loathing regarding miki).

I think oz is the type of person to mask his loneliness. he probably cares about laurent the same way two people in a jail cell care about each other. he does whatever laurent asks of him almost like a peace offering, because he's used to just playing whatever role people ask of him without question. he probably doesn't know who he is anymore, and he probably doesn't care. he'll just follow whatever laurent says because the memories he made with team confidence stick to him like old wallpaper, and he can't bring himself to peel them off. he traded one life for another, and he lost both of them.

unlike them, I imagine shi-won already made peace with her demons long ago. there's a reason she told kudo to just let his daughter go. there's a reason why she didn't get an arc to herself. I don't think she feels bad that they're going through this, but she probably tries to distract them once in a while because the one-sided tension between them is annoying to deal with.

as it is, it feels to me that oz just goes along with what others want most of the time. he isn't too different from makoto in that regard orz

laurent empathizing with makoto and somehow relating to him now bc he realizes he kinda been through the same shit as him. but like. makoto dealt with way worse so he cant really say anything so he lashes out at the og team instead orz 😭
