Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

Note to vacationing non-Americans: while it’s true that America doesn’t always have the best food culture, the food in our restaurants is really not representative of what most of us eat at home.  The portions at Cheesecake Factory or IHOP are meant to be indulgent, not just “what Americans are used to.”

If you eat at a regular American household, during a regular meal where they’re not going out of their way to impress guests, you probably will not be served twelve pounds of chocolate-covered cream cheese.  Please bear this in mind before writing yet another “omg I can’t believe American food” post.

Yeah, I want to add the fact that it seems like this is no matter what anyone says. Like, I'm with a friend and we're sitting close or just talking or even if there's physical contact or considerations that you don't have with others and suddenly this guy asks if we're dating. Like, dude we were just talking, we started being "close" like a couple of months ago? I was showing him my phone (and it has this screen that you can't see unless it's from the front) and our faces were close because he had to see and I had to translate, even after he mentioned something like "because of you I believe in friendship between men and women" with this condescending tone and seriously, I'm not even going to begin to describe everything wrong there because it would be too long right now

Can you do something for me, please?

I want you to reblog this if you believe that two people can be very close and physically affectionate with one another, but still have a completely nonsexual, non-romantic relationship. 

Even if the two people in question are capable of being sexually or romantically attracted to one another. 

Because the friendship I share with someone I consider family in a way that transcends blood has been typecast as a romantic relationship ENTIRELY too many times, and I’m beginning to get sick of it.

an important principle of fandom (and life, actually) is that if you want more of Less Popular Thing, it is good to create positive spaces and events for it. however, if you use those spaces to take cracks at the More Popular Thing which you perceive as stealing oxygen from your Less Popular Thing, you do not increase the audience for Less Popular Thing. you decrease it, because you irk people who like both Things. and depending on the relative popularity, there are quite possibly more people who like both Things than people who only like Less Popular Thing. (not to mention - you kill your chances of recruiting people who like More Popular Thing but are neutral on or haven’t considered Less Popular Thing.) 

you’re not campaigning for votes (where There Can Be Only One), you’re marketing for a share of people’s attention. don’t be petty. be effective.

If you don't know, a shimeji is a program where a character roams around your computer screen (in this case, it's our lovely Vox)

Otherwise, see below for install instructions!

You need:

Java

Windows 10 or 11 (may work on other OSes, not tested)

Instructions:

1. Click the link above, and hit download 2. Find Vox Shimeji.zip in your downloads > right click > extract all > extract 3. You should now have a file called Vox Shimeji - open it, then open the Vox folder 4. Double click shimeji-ee.jar or shimeji-ee.exe 5. His little Voxtek logo should appear at the bottom right of the screen. On Windows 11, it might be inside the little ^ menu 6. A moment later, he should fall onto the screen! Right click him for more options or just let him run around
